View Full Version : Have you ever walked out on a movie?

Chris Wallace

If so, what was it? It's probably rare that anyone does. You paid your money & the movie turns out to be a major stinkfest. Do you ride it out or do you bail?
And okay, maybe you never walked out of the theater. Have you ever stopped watching a rental movie before the end?

Never. Even if it's god awful I usually sit through it. I remember when I was younger we walked out of the Pagemaster because my sister was scared.

When I was six we walked out on "All That Jazz"; I wasn't into it but it was the first movie my dad ever took me to. I walked out on "Lord Of The Rings" b/c my son wouldn't sit still & be quiet, so we left because I was afraid we were gonna get kicked out. It was the only time he didn't behave in a movie theater.

Ugh, I wanted to leave after 10 minutes of Dragon Wars but all my friends thought it was "COOL!"

Only time I ever wanted to truly leave, I usually only see movies that I truly think will be good. Only reason why I saw D-Wars was because my friends wanted to see it.

I haven't had the pleasure of seeing a movie so bad, going downhill at such a heartaching rate, that I would walk out on it. Most movies I don't like, but not enough to flat out leave.

Movies that I may have bought or rented that I never finished? I downloaded Meet the Spartans, and quit after the Brittney Spears part (which was funny, but up to that point the movie had pissed me off beyond repair), & I threw away Dog Soldiers (yes, I actually didn't like this cult favorite, and I fail to see the appeal) after watching it for 40 minutes.

I've never walked out of I movie, but I DID turn off Dragon wars and never finish it after renting. . . which is almost the same thing.
And it was the only time I remember doing that. I thought the movie was gonna be super over the top cheese, and have fun with itself. But it was just boring bad, not funny bad. Needed more gore, more actual DRAGONS (Not giant snakes) and most of all, more talent. If you're gonna make a stupid movie, make it right.

I walked out on "You dont mess with the Zohan" because the girl I took on a date didnt like it and wanted to leave. What a meanie. I didnt see her after that night, though I agreed with her that comedy was WAAAAY too long. I think Zohan was like 152 minutes or something. We left near the ending.

I walked out on "Underdog" when I saw it with the summer camp I worked as a PE coach with.

I rented "Hot Rod" (the comedy with the SNL guy about him being a amateur stuntman) and I turned it off after 35 minutes.

Typically, I wont walk out of a movie theater no matter how bad a movie is though.

I wish I'd walked out on "Mortal Kombat: Annihilation". Ugh. I was horribly sick that day. I was forced to leave work & go to the doctor. Afterwards, I dropped off my prescription & they told me it would take 2 hours to fill. Since the theater was close by, I figured that'd be a good way to kill the time. Boy, was I wrong. I would've been better off wandering the store. At the end when the theme music cued up "Mortal Kombat", a bunch of people chimed in "I want my money back!"

I was 12 years old and at the time lived in a town that had a small "indie" movie theater. My cousin and I saw a movie showing that neither of us had heard of, we were bored, so he decided to get us some tickets.

Back then, they didn't care about I.D.s for rated R movies, so we got in just fine. The movie started out, weird, but kinda cool. Dealt with IRA and holding Forrest Whitaker being killed and asking the guy holding him prison to look after his girl.

We walked out at the part where Steven Rhea goes on a date with Whittakers girl, they go back to her place and "BAM" she has a penis.

The movie................

"The Crying Game"

Back then, that was alot for a 12, and 14 year old to handle.:csad::o

I haven't walked out of a movie yet but I came close with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull for various reasons.

1)I wasn't enjoying the movie
2)There was some problems with the sound and projection at times which made it tough at times to hear and the movie even froze for a few minutes
3)Some idiot sitting behind me who laughed at EVERYTHING. no joke things that weren't meant to be funny and this guy was rolling.Plus his laugh was so obnoxious it got annoying after the 2nd time he laughed which happen around the time they showed the mole hill.
4)Shia La Mutt

I'm usually very tolerant to all movies. A movie doesn't have to be great for me to get some enjoyment out of it. That said, Blair Witch Project was the only movie I can remember being so bad that I wanted to walk out. I couldn't find anything worthwhile about that movie. If the girl I was with hadn't wanted to stay I would have left.

I wanted to walk out on "Scary Movie". The girl I was with at the time roped me into that piece of crap. I liked the beginning & the end-nothing else. Then we argued for weeks about the second one. I named 10 movies that she wouldn't have to accompany me to if she left me alone about that one. I never caved, but she rented it & I was glad I didn't cave. Ugh.

I threw the whole damn cup. What it happened was theres this boarding school near the theatre and every week it puts ALL the kids on a boss and puts em in one movie. Most of em are 11-13 years old. I hate to put this film on here(even though I NEVER walked out after seeing it twice in theares), but everytime I ever watch 'The Dark Knight', I always turn it off about halfway through. Now, maybe this is because it's not as powerful as it was watching it in theatres, maybe it's my disappointment after purchasing the 2-Disc Special Edition, maybe it's because I don't have a theatre sitting in my living room, maybe it's too long, I don't know why I keep doing this!... But I can't help it:o
I'm at that point with it. I now just watch the scenes that I enjoy and skip the rest. It is damn long to just casually pop in and watch. Maybe it's cuz I saw it 6 times in theatres.......maybe I'm just sick of it.

When I was watching Quantum of Solace a 12 year old girl stood up in the middle of the film and started yellin the Pledge of Allegiance [sic]. SOO I threw my drink at her hehehe. She went cryin to the manager (who happened to be one of my best friends). It felt good. It was like that soda was hitting the head of every douche bag that ever talked in a movie

Yeah, I could probably watch it with a friend over, if we had a never ending supply of popcorn and soft-drinks, but that doesn't exist... yet. I find I get like that with a lot of films I enjoy, so I usually take my time off with it for a while, and go back to viewing it once in a while.

Yeah same here. There are very few films I can actually sit all the way through everytime. Saving Private Ryan, The Forbidden Kingdom, Eastern Promises and Rambo. Everything else I end up turning off in the middle

Again, same here. However, I enjoy longer films that are simple to understand and satisfying at the same time. 'The Dark Knight', I understand what's going on, but with somethings like: Gordon's "death", the five people(two cops) Two-Face killed and one that had me confused for a while was the "pretty close to the chest" line from Bruce where he explains the secrecy of the "Government Telecommunications Project", for a while, I thought that it was an explaination as to why Gordon had to fake his death, because when he reveals to Harvey in the back of the van that he's alive, Dent says something like: "You do like to keep things pretty close to the chest". Anyhow, mind-boggling things like that sort of kick me out of the movie's domain.

No Will Farrell movie will EVER get my money. Same goes for Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller & Jack Black.

But Dodgeball and Tropic Thunder were pure gold...

But I can definately agree with you on Will Farrell. He blows.

can't say that i have. i would never walk out on a movie, no matter how bad it was. if i paid for it, i'm watching it.

only way i would walk out is if there was something in the movie that really really offended me, and i wouldn't liked see a movie that would do that anyways

I walked out of Sin City....though it wasn't because of the movie. The theater's sound system blew and kept going in and out. My g/f at the time could tolerate it, but I couldn't and I walked out and she wasn't happy about that. But I couldn't stand it. I can't hear what they were saying, and I paid money to see this film and I just walked the hell out.

Though, I should have walked out of Boogeyman.....

Still never understand people and the thought/idea/sensitiveness of thinks they find offensive. Even being offended bogges my mind. The only time I get offended is when someone personaly, to my face, right there in front of me, saying something to me directly pisses me off. That rarely happens, and most of the time I laugh it off and just make fun of them because it's hard to offend me...almost impossible.

I just don't understand being offended. I've seen a lot of stuff, heard a lot of things, had things I like personaly attacked or made fun of and yet...offended? No.

Yesterday, I almost walked out of a movie, but it was only gonna be to find a gun to have a man killed. My mother just had her kidney removed and she has the gnarliest ****ing incision I've ever seen and we were sitting and watching Angels&Demons. We were in the Handicap chairs mind you and it was because we had a handicap. The last 10 minutes of the film (when the twist comes in) this weezing 83 year old man comes stumbling in and decides he want my moms chair and so he start whacking her in her incision with his big ass metal oxygen tank. Let me just say this, thank God I have a friend in management in that theatre because I raised some holy hell for two reasons A) nobody ****s with my family and B) he walked into the last 10 minutes of a movie he didn't pay for, I know, I checked. The only thing that gives me solace is the fact that that man will probably be dead by the end of the week based on the nasty ass weezing noises he was making.....WHEW....that was just as exhausting to type as it will be for y'all to read
Thanks for your time :woot:

I walked out of Shrek I think it was? I don't remember. It was before the movie started but after I already paid for the tickets. My girlfriend at the time wanted to see the movie and after we sat down we started arguing so I just said f*** it, and told her I'd wait for her in the car for 10 minutes and if she wasn't inside of it by then she better find a ride home.

I've walked out of movies before for various of reasons. Theres movies that interest me and when I went to see them they sucked.. You have high hopes or a good interest in a movie/genre that u go see them. I've walked of movies like Pathfinder,Solaris I just found them soo boring and stupid I couldn't take it. Ya,maybe a waste of money, but the wast of time was far greater imo. Theres been movies that I've almost walked out of and probably should of(Dwars for example).
Its no different renting a movie that looks kindof good and then u watch it it sucks and u turn it off...its still a waste of money/time just maybe cost a little more goin to a theatre :)

I threw the whole damn cup. What it happened was theres this boarding school near the theatre and every week it puts ALL the kids on a boss and puts em in one movie. Most of em are 11-13 years old. They had little interest in James Bond. They were talking loudly through the whole film and causing all kinds of hell so when that girl stood up and started doing the pledge I lost it. I threw my whole damn cup.

I walked out of two movies.

Batman Forever - When Two-Face was chasing the Batmobile towards the dead end I turned to my bud and said "If he drives up that wall I'm walking out." Then the car drives up the f-ing wall! I got up, punched my friend in the shoulder and walked out. Never bothered to finish watching that movie, even to this day.

Iron Man - Not the fault of the movie but because of the worst theater in the world. It's in Queens, NY at Queens Blvd and 71st Ave. The sound and picture kept cutting out and then was not syncing up right. I went to the manager and chewed him out and got free passes.

I generally never walk out on movies no matter how bad they are. But a couple of times I would have if I were able to.

The ONLY thing that helped me from leaving the theater while watching Spielberg's "A. I." was the fact that the site was full so I couldn't even get out of the row without bothering dozens of people. I found that meaningless Spielberg's personal childhood trauma exacerbated to death unbearable.

The other time when I had no doubt that I was wasting my time miserably and had to leave the theater was during "Hellboy 2." But my girlfriend had forced me to watch it so I couldn't leave. Reaching the end of that movie was like peeing a whole gallstone.

I've only walked out of two films: Batman and Robin, and Zohan. Batman and Robin came out when I was three and my dad said that I told him I wanted to leave because the film was boring. I don't remember this at all but my dad's brought it up a few times. Zohan has to be the first time I've seen a comedy and never laughed once. I got up to the part when it showed the montage of Adam Sandler washing the old womens' hair and I couldn't take it anymore.

I sat down watched 5 minutes then got up and left. I could tell it was a lost cause instantly just from the way the Predator world was depicted..

The money didn't matter. Watching them shat all over the legacy of the originals was not worth 7 dollars.

Never walked out. I see films that I think will be good or that I want to really see.

But when I saw POTC in 2003 for the first time, their was this person who was mentally retarded in the theater. He couldn't shut up. I stayed in the theater, he quieted down at the last half of the film, but these two guys walked out.

I was losing interest in TS, but not enough to walk out, I was just thinking when the movie was gonna be over. Dammit, McG give me all the deleted scenes. I want to see the stuff you cut out!

I was really looking forward to seeing it. I have all the Terminators on Blu-ray and the first two are in my top ten favorite movies of all time. But I actually found myself wanting it to end.

I remember when I was really little Braveheart came out and my brother and I wen to see it with my grandfather.

There was not a lot of people in the place, but this one guy behind us started *****ing when my brother and I started to open our candy, over the noise of it.

I don't remember much, I remember my grandpa throwing the bucket of pop corn at the guy trying to fight him, and my brother and I going to get a worker. We ended up getting free passes to see it again. But to this day I still have not seen that movie.

14 years later the same grandfather (with less legs) and I went to see Star Trek, he kept falling asleep cause we both got up really early, so we left. It was my second veiwing so I didn't mind.

And for extra credit, I went to the midnight showing of Ghost Rider. Never in a movie not matter how bad it was, never have I got embarrased.

But watching that movie at the midnight showing with all the people there who obviously liked Ghost Rider. I got very very embarrased and sank down into my seat to avoid being seen.

One more.

Not really related. But my cousion and I went to see Phone Booth when it came out, and after convincing the guy to sell me (at the time underage) tickets we got in. At the end of it all, my cousion thought that the satellite it showed in space at the last scene......was the sniper.

Don't ask me how. Don't ask me why.

OK time for another one of MattMortems funtastic theatre horror stories!!! Today I went to see the Proposal (loved it by the by) and some jackoff had an infant in the theatre, must been like 5 months old ANYWHO the whole damned movie the baby is crying and cooing SOOO I go and get management and tell em.......they don't do **** about it. After the film I go and tell management about the wild time I had listening to a baby (who halfway through got breastfed by his momma IN THE THEATRE) and they offered free tickets so I'm thinkin score. They dude comes up to me and starts hollering that he'll pay for my tickets cuz he ruined my entire life by bringing his baby in and that I'm a baby hater, I ignore him cuz it's whatever. Then his wife runs up and says "see a good movie jackoff" I say shut up ***** and then her hubby jumps in the middle of my **** and tries to start a fight. I'm starting to think I go to the worst theatre on planet earth
