Okay... this guy has a HUGE amount of support from a ton of Superman fans! So I figured it was about time he got his official thread here on the Superman forums. Speaking of which... shouldn't the boards title of "Superman: Man of Steel" be changed to "Superman Reboot" or something? Anyways.... come on in Cavill fans and show your support! Or even if you're against Cavill as Supes, post your opinion in here too! Oh, and plenty of pics and manips needed, too! Have fun!

I personally really like the guy and do think he definitely has potential. Although if they're gonna go with the "unknown" type of actor again, I would much rather see Matthew Bomer as Supes, but that's just me. Although, like I've said in a couple of my posts, I think we're gonna get a little bit more of a mainstream actor (or a "star" if you will). Someone that isn't like a huge megastar type of actor, but someone that definitely has star-power and is known.... basically how Christian Bale was before Batman Begins.

Not only does Cavill look the part but he is probably the best actor out of the bunch. He almost got the part of James Bond losing to Daniel Craig so he's definately got talent. We need someone who can give Superman depth the way Reeve did.

The movie could still be called "Man of Steel," or even "Superman: The Man of Steel," because it's not taken for a film yet, and there's nothing about it that makes it exclusive to Singerman 2.

I'm a pretty patriotic guy and my politics aren't consistent with most of the libs on that frequent this place - but I love Bale as Batman and could care less about his nationality. If he's the best for the he's the best for the part.

Henry Cavill is the best Superman candidate I've ever seen. First, he's a great actor, second, his look is perfect in terms of bone structure, and third and most importantly, he has the most Superman-like qualities that I've seen from anyone other than Christopher Reeve. Cavill has an innocence about him, a true goodness. It is a quality that an actor must naturally possess for it cannot be acted and Cavill has it. Yet, at the same time as seeming completely pure and good, he doesn't seem naive. He possesses the quality of physical as well as moral strength, competence, and nobility. He looks like an intelligent man who believes in the best in people and is capable of leading people to become their best. That is Superman.

I only have too issues with Cavill that can be fixed with movie magic

1 - at times he's got too much a baby face

2 - for an actor, he's on the taller side at 6'1" but they still need make him appear a few more inches taller and add mass to give him that presence. I'd like to see Superman finally carry some bulk. Not like a body builder or anything, but definitely muscular.

I'm totally over the "guy that plays Superman has to be 6'4." Sure he shouldn't be Tom Cruise height but it's movie. It's absolutely not reality. Superman doesn't get his powers from being tall anyway. Would I like a bulky 6'3" guy as Superman, sure?But the acting is the most important thing to me, everything else can be faked.
