Don't reveal it! It's not one for another 3 hours hear in Cali... Who was in it though besides Palin?
Don't go into a Sarah Palin thread when you know she is appearing on live television at that moment. Isn't this kind of like going into a "Dark Knight review" thread and saying "don't spoil it"?

No, I think they probably had better sketches written with her in mind, but they had to work with what they had. And with Palin, that ain't much.

Hell, do a sketch where Tina and Sarah stand to together and they fake being each other. Like have Sarah end up on the set of 30 Rock because everyone thinks she's Tina and she keeps trying to tell them "I'm Sarah Palin" but they just act like she's still doing her impression. Jesus, do something, seriously. What an ungrateful bit**. She obviously wanted to be there less than John McCain wanted to be in Vietnam.

I kinda of wonder too. I mean this is her chance to show she's not a mean-spirited, racial rabble rousing bit** and she blows it:huh:. I agree. They made a fool out of her. Did not give her any punch lines to say or anything. Very strange appearance. Usually a celebrity gets a chance to say something funny when they appear on the show. SNL has pretty much gone completely down the tubes in the humor department, but Fey's Palin skits were pretty funny. This one tonight, however, was a dud. Baldwin was the only part that was even close to being funny.

The Odd Lies Of Sarah Palin XI: Asking The Girls?

This is indeed odd. Here is Palin answering Hannity's question about her decision to accept the vice-presidency:

"It was a time of asking the girls to vote on it, anyway. And they voted unanimously, yes. Didn't bother asking my son because, you know, he's going to be off doing his thing anyway, so he wouldn't be so impacted by, at least, the campaign period here. So ask the girls what they thought and they're like, absolutely. Let's do this, mom."

But here's the official tick-tock of the announcement from McCain communications director Jill Hazelbaker on August 29:

"Later that morning, John McCain departed for Phoenix and Governor Palin departed with staff to Flagstaff, Arizona. Governor Palin, Kris Perry, Steve Schmidt and Mark Salter proceeded to the Manchester Inn and Conference Center in Middleton, Ohio. They were checked into the hotel as the Upton Family. While there, Governor Palin’s children, who had been told they were going to Ohio to celebrate their parents’ wedding anniversary, were told for the first time that their mother would be a nominee for Vice President of the United States of America."

Here's the ADN story that claims that the pick was a total surprise to her family and children in Ohio. Here is more Palin from the Hannity interview:

PALIN: Well, I found out about the actual selection just a couple days before you guys all did. Getting that nod was quite an experience, of course, because I knew that Senator McCain and his team had been doing a heck of a lot of research and vetting of many names.

But according to the McCain campaign, it was not "a couple days" between her being asked and our finding out. It was one day. She was asked 11 am on Thursday and the pick became public Friday morning: one day. Moreover, Todd Palin insisted in an earlier interview that during that one day between the nod and the announcement, the girls were kept totally in the dark:

So this was Thursday morning. I wake them up at 5:00 o'clock in the morning, and I said, OK, hey, we're going on a surprise trip to celebrate your mom and I's anniversary, 20th anniversary. So give me your cell phones. Well, why do you want my cell phone? Because I know you're going to call people, and you might call mom and ask what's going on. So I said, Give me your cell phones. If there's any questions -- whoever wants to ask questions is going to stay at Grandma's house, so who's going?

So they gave me all their cell phones. And so later that day, Sarah called me -- or that morning, Sarah called me and then we were on a plane south.

Look: Palin can't have taken the "two days" between McCain's offer and the announcement to get the girls to vote on the question because a) it was one day, not two and b) because her husband and the McCain campaogn have already told us they were kept totally in the dark in the period after their mother had accepted McCain's offer. There was no time for them to vote and no vote could have been offered.

I know this is trivial, but the point is that there is a very powerful pattern here of Sarah Palin's difficulty with telling the truth. Here we have some clear facts and chronology about events in the public record that happened only a couple of weeks ago and Sarah Palin's stories are hopelessly contradictory. This is a pattern. She seems to have imagined a conversation that could not have taken place.

And the other weird detail, of course, is her dismissal of Track's views because he would be in Iraq "doing his thing." In fact, an active duty soldier would have plenty of reason to be consulted about the possibility of his mother becoming vice-president. It could compromise his ability to blend in, require possible extra security protection, and perhaps jeopardize his chance to be in combat. Think Prince Harry or McCain's sons whom he wisely keeps very much in the background.

Remember she also told Charlie Gibson that she instantly and unblinkingly said yes, when asked, to John McCain's offer for the veep slot. Either Palin lied to Gibson or she lied to Hannity. Take your pick.

If she lies about the trivial things...

So now Palin is introducing "Ed the Dairyman" at her rallies. Is this a campaign anymore or an episode of Sesame Street?

VP candidate Palin introduces 'Ed the Dairyman'

By TIM KORTE
Associated Press Writer

ROSWELL, N.M. (AP) -- Joe the Plumber, meet Ed the Dairyman.

Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin spoke to a crowd of about 10,000 supporters Sunday in a Roswell airplane hangar, not only making a reference to Joe the Plumber, but alluding several times to "Ed the Dairyman" after seeing someone in the crowd holding a sign identifying himself that way.

She warned voters about Democratic plans to raise taxes "on America's hard-working families and our small businesses and a lot of folks just like Joe the Plumber and Ed the Dairyman out there."

Joe Wurzelbacher, a plumber from Holland, Ohio, became a media sensation last week when Republican presidential candidate John McCain referred to "Joe the Plumber" several times during a debate with Democrat Barack Obama.

Palin challenged the tax plan advocated by Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama, which she warned would expand government and "destroy jobs" by redistributing wealth.

"Barack Obama calls it spreading the wealth. Joe Biden calls higher taxes patriotic," Palin said. "But Joe the Plumber and Ed the Dairyman, I believe they think it sounds more like socialism.

"Friends, now is no time to experiment with socialism," she told the cheering crowd.

Palin, appearing near a big American flag and a large sign that read "Victory in New Mexico," hammered on energy policy, saying New Mexico shares a lot with Alaska when it comes to energy.

She called for drilling in the United States to reduce dependence on foreign oil and said all energy possibilities should be considered, including solar, wind, clean coal and offshore oil and gas drilling.

"Our opponents keep saying, 'No, no, no,' to sound and responsible energy solutions," she said. "Drilling in New Mexico and elsewhere can be an economic engine to provide jobs."

She drew cheers from the crowd when she said, "We'll drill here, we'll drill now."

McCain, she said, would cut business taxes, double child tax deductions for families and cut capital gains taxes.

Palin said McCain wants her to take the lead on helping families with special needs children. She was carrying her son Trig, who has Down syndrome, when she landed in Roswell to cheers from the crowd.

She began her remarks with a reference to her appearance on "Saturday Night Live" hours earlier, saying there was no place she would rather be than live from Roswell on Sunday afternoon.

Palin's visit to Roswell came two days after Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden appeared at a rally at the Mesilla plaza near Las Cruces, also in southern New Mexico.

I tend to agree with you on this one. She's attractive for a politician, but good grief....some people are acting like they just discovered they could get a boner and it's all thanks to her. And besides, the moment she starts talking any attractiveness she might have goes completely down the toilet. She's a moron, a hate mongerer and quite possibly a racist. Whoever said "punish her by not voting for her" had the right idea. She's an attention whore and going back to Alaska defeated and trying to recover from the damage she's done to her political relationships in that state by the things she's done while campaigning for VP, fading off into obscurity once again is fitting for her.

I have never been so confused by a president and VP team before. There are rumors about Palin & McCain having a falling out. Repeatedly McCain has said something, and Palin does the opposite. Part of me says she sees things going south and is using what's left of McCain's spotlight to propel herself for a 2012 run. However if she's speaking out against the robocalls to make herself look less negative and aggressive....why are her rallies more negative and aggressive than McCain's himself?

Really, I'm confused. None of what they do anymore makes sense. It's like McCain and Palin both have split personalities and are in la la land. They have a rope tied around their waists, are attached to eachother, and trying to run in opposite directions which is neither of them anywhere.

They're so Mavericky they can't even agree with their own plans, let alone eachother.

All the men I've wanted to have sex with could actually list several important foreign policies which emerged in the past several decades, as well as two Supreme Court cases they disagreed with. :o
So even something meaningless has to involve someone that knows these things? Wow, you have some high standards. It must be hard enough to meet a gay man, much more so to meet one that knows anything about the legislative branch of government. Politics and government are not usual topics of conversation, imo. There are more differences between gays and straights than I thought.

Anyway, before I have to infract myself for taking the thread off topic: I cant believe that a "shotgun strategy" would work. Conservatives are smart enough to listen to what both people on their ticket say. I havent met anyone that likes Sarah Palin. I cant see her running for Pres in '12. Meh...it goes both ways some Obama supporters have been saying "Jesus was a community organizer, Pontius Pilate was a governor."

How is that ignorance?

It wasn't an Obama supporter who first said that. I remember, it was a comment on a blog that somebody pointed out after the RNC. This was when Palin first made her stump speech and she and Rudy Giuliani pretty much discredited and snorted at the thought of being a "community organizer" as if you have no responsibilities, its nonsense, etc. and how being a small town mayor/governor made her more qualified.

So hence the observation -- well Jesus Christ was a community organizer, Pontius Pilate was a governor, right? I guess a few Obama supporters kind of ran with it, but yes. I'll try and find the link to the original post.

edit. There you go. Mudflats (http://mudflats.wordpress.com/2008/09/04/palin-palooza-wrap-up/). This is where it was originally read. It was a comment quoted from MH& http://www.metafilter.com. Palin breaks with McCain on gay marriage amendment

NEW YORK — Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin says she supports a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, a break with John McCain who has said he believes states should be left to define what marriage is. In an interview with Christian Broadcasting Network, the Alaska governor said she had voted in 1998 for a state amendment banning same sex marriage and hoped to see a federal ban on such unions.

"I have voted along with the vast majority of Alaskans who had the opportunity to vote to amend our Constitution defining marriage as between one man and one woman. I wish on a federal level that's where we would go. I don't support gay marriage," Palin said. She said she believed traditional marriage is the foundation for strong families.

McCain, an Arizona senator, is supporting a ballot initiative in his state this year that would ban gay marriage. But he has consistently and forcefully opposed a federal marriage amendment, saying it would usurp states' authority on such matters.

As governor, Palin vetoed a bill that would have denied benefits to the partners of gay state employees. In a debate with Democratic rival Joe Biden, Palin said she was "tolerant" of gays and said she supported certain legal protections for same-sex couples, like hospital visitation rights.

In the CBN interview, Palin also said she would speak out if she heard a supporter at a rally yell violent or threatening comments about Barack Obama, the Democratic presidential nominee.

"What we have heard through some mainstream media is that folks have hollered out some atrocious and unacceptable things like 'kill him,'" Palin said, referring to a Washington Post story two weeks ago about angry supporters at a Palin rally in Florida. "If I ever were to hear that standing up there at the podium with the mike, I would call them out on that, and I would tell these people, no, that's unacceptable."

CBN released excerpts of the interview Monday and planned to broadcast it in its entirety Tuesday.

Palin also claimed religion and God had been "mocked" during the campaign, although she offered no evidence to support that.

"Faith in God in general has been mocked through this campaign, and that breaks my heart and that is unfair for others who share a faith in God and choose to worship our Lord in whatever private manner that they deem fit," she said.

Palin is a conservative Christian who was baptized and grew up attending Pentecostal churches. In September, Obama defended Palin's religious beliefs and said it would be "offensive" to portray her faith as strange or wrong.

Palin also reaffirmed her view that Obama had been "palling around with terrorists" because of his association with Bill Ayers, a 1960s-era radical who helped found the violent Weather Underground group to protest the Vietnam war. The group was responsible for bombings of several government buildings.

"I would say it again," she said.

Ayers and Obama live in the same Chicago neighborhood and have served together on charity boards. Ayers also hosted a house party for Obama when he was first running for the Illinois state Senate.

We're all a little chafed here about this whole 'some parts of the country are real and American' and other parts are not. This weekend I was performing at Northeastern and I just read the statement that Sarah Palin had made about the 'pro-American' parts of the country and I...in response to that, I think I might have said, you know, '**** you!' That's just my way of saying that I think that's a profanity to say, and I was answering with a profanity. But it's not really fair, and it makes it seem like I'm just addressing Governor Palin about this, and I'm not, it's just this whole entire theme that there's more American areas, or some people love the country, some people don't. So what I meant to say is, '**** all y'all.'"

the more I think about this "real America" thing, the more it ticks me off....are you telling me that a cab driver in NYC, who came here from another country, and is busting his ass to maybe achieve a better life is not a "real american"....that's total ********.....

That's pretty much the argument being made. http://www.superherohype.com/forums/images/smilies/icon13.gif

I think it goes even beyond that. It's essentially McCain/Palin saying "WE and our supporters are Real Americans. Anyone outside of that is not a Real American". It's disgusting and divisive.

I think they mean "Real Country First", which only includes people who support and are voting for McCain/Palin. Everyone else doesn't count as they aren't Real Americans and aren't a part of this Real Country. Really. For real.

We're all "real Americans." Some of us just admit that we're not perfect and want to correct our mistakes. Others want to think we do no wrong and our **** doesn't stink no matter how we act.

Not according to some. Some prominent right-wing religious figures have said NY got hit because it was full of gays and sinners and deserved 9-11.

It's definately worth checking out. Especially since Governor Palin seems to think that DC could 'learn a thing or two' from Wasilla Main Street.

They're definately going have to be more specific. There is clearly two different America's being discussed nowadays.
