2011 is a good year I think. 2012 at the latest. If the series goes on much beyond that Bale and several other people will be getting too old.

I saw this in another thread talking about the release. I agree.
Maybe 2012?
December 12, 2012?
And that that's how the world ends because they'd make a movie that's better than TDK which couldn't possibly exist and therefore reality rejects such an impossible thing and rips itself apart?

Summer 2012. Think of it...WB is still riding this one all the way to the bank...and all the Oscar talk will continue to play out until next spring (just imagine if it wins a few:wow::cwink: )...not to mention the mega-bucks TDK is going to bring in from DVD and Blu-Ray etc. An announcement probably won't come until Spring 2009 about a third film, and if Nolan and crew and cast are attached...production probably won't begin until late 2010...they'll skip a summer to make room for Harry Potter to finish while keeping the TDK sequel super secret...and by 2012 Summer....not doomsday, we'll get our sequel!

1: Every Chris Nolan Batman film thus far has been in July and in the teen's... BB: 15 (?), TDK: 14
2: July 15th is on a Friday: good day to open a film...
I think it's safe to say that it'll be the 15th of July... It's almost a guarantee.

Spider-Man 4 will be released in May, 2011, so Batman 3 should be released in July, 2011, two months after the release of Spider-Man 4. We don't want Batman 3 to be in competition with another comic-book franchise like Spider-Man.

Well, the press release that announced that Batman 3 was confirmed also said that 3 new superhero movies are going to be released within the next 3 years (including Batman 3 if I read it correctly).
So that likely means Batman 3 will come sometime in 2011.

I'm not waiting an extra year. 2011 would fit the pattern, think about it BB came out in 2005 and TDK in 2008. Wouldn't it be reasonable to complete Batman 3 in 2011? Three years are plenty of waiting for me, I can't wait to see who Nolan casts as the next films main villain.

As long as it takes, I mean I HATE to be the "this guy." but Bale, Oldman, and Caine are contracted for three Nolan is not, he COULD walk away I would hate for that to happen, but Nolans told everything he's wanted to really. But if he comes back 2011 seems logical

I dont think Bale, or even Gary Oldman, will be too old... But you're probably right about Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman.

i just hope no ones passes away before then which will fcall or a re-cast... i hate those...
FaT_tONle
09-16-2008, 07:26 PM
Aging really picks up after five years or so. If you go back and watch X-1 and then X-3 you see that. Look at Ben Parker in SM3... the guy looked like ten years older from SM1. Caine and Freeman can't do this forever. They have to get this done in the three year window.

I also hope that in WBs haste to make a third Batman movie they don't undercut Nolan from it. To this day I hold a grudge that they (not WB I know)insisted on making X3 as soon as possible, thus replacing Synger with Crapner.

1st draft this December, begin pre-production in 2009 and revise script, announce cast at Comic Con 2009, film in 2010, release in summer 2011.
However here are the release dates for 2011. The last Harry Potter and (last?) Nolan Batman movie in the same summer? They may have to do that. Marvel is looking at Captain America, The Avengers and Spider-Man 4. DC Comics needs a presence in 2011.

I guess it all depends who starts filming first, Spider-Man 4 sounds like it could start shooting next year. And even if they could find a way to get that out in summer 2010, Marvel already has Iron Man 2 and Thor.
Nolan could also be up and running with a script in early 2009. Marvel has to get their actor for Captain America signed for two back to back movies and directors for CA and TA.

SM4 out in 2010? I doubt it... principle photography is a full year away so I doubt they'd make a summer 2010 release. I THINK that WB could potentially move HP8 but considering it's the last film I'd think they'd want a summer release. It's just all way too crowded for my taste.

would B3 be completely tied down to a summer release? with the success of dark knight, id think it may have pushed this third installment outside the normal realm of superhero summer blockbuster... they really could put it anywhere they feel like... christmas/new years 2010 seems like a real possibility... IF they choose to expedite production.

This is what I was thinking as well. My guess is going to be December of 2012.
I know people think 2012 is a long time, but I think Heath dying kind of threw a wrench into Nolan's plans for a third movie. Personally I really think they should take that extra year to ensure that they have a solid script that will equal or surpass The Dark Knight. You know...unless you guys actually want another half-assed abortion like X-Men: The Last Stand or Spider-Man 3.
I can't even begin to fathom the fanboy rage that plague these boards if "Batman 3" failed to live up to the standards set by TDK.

Sony is positioning SM4 for 2011... Marvel has Cap AND Avengers lined up... WB is stalling with ALL their DC films... Nolan doesn't look like he will committ anytime soon. One of those films will be ousted from 2011. I'd bet on Avengers just due to the sheer enormity of the project. But BB3 in 2011 may be a reach as well... considering we already got TDK confirmation around this time in pre-pro for that flick.

Bats HAS to have a summer release.
Any summer date in 2011 will be perfect for BB3 -- one Marvel film's success is not guaranteed (Captain America) and the other just has two stars and producers attached (Avengers).
If Marvel has to push back anything, it might be Avengers. If they take it off the schedule, Warners should lock in BB3 in the same date that TDK did so well in (July 15, 2011). Even a mid-June release would be ideal.

I'm thinking if WB wants to push the release date back, but keep the movie in 2011, then it is entirely possible we may get BB3 during awards season. WB now knows that they have the necessary elements for serious critical success, so they might pit the movie up against the bait films.

The filming schedule and budget (holy crap!) for Inception was released today [source (http://www.nolanfans.com/index.php?subaction=showfull&id=1245069446)], they're supposed to finish filming in December. If WB is holding off on serious sequel talks because Nolan doesn't want to be distracted from his current project then we probably won't get any real news until sometime early next year.
This is starting to look more like a summer 2012 release now.

Nolan will still be up to his neck in post-production stuff for Inception in January, plus they plan on filming in Canada during winter so some unforseen delays are almost certain.
Still, I'm sure if WB has officially announced a sequel by the time Inception is released in July they'll have some kind of Batman 3 teaser attached to it, even if it's just a logo animation with a voiceover like the first TDK teaser.
As comic book movies goes, we got Cap, Thor, Spiderman 4, and Green lantern in 2011.
I think its safe to say we will probably get B3 sometime in 2012
