If they re-doing Daredevil from the beginning, i think we start from a Matt 25 years old or so. In this case Van Camp it's perfect for Karen Page.

um, I wasn't really going for a teen drama. how many 25 year old lawyers do you know out there. Just because it's a reboot, doesn't mean it has to start at the beginning of their career. It just means rebooting the franchise.

Looking back, there are a couple of choices that I'm confused on. So, I have been looking around and I have rethought casting choices.

For Punisher I had Johnny Messner, but by looking around, I found Christopher Meloni:

See I love Meloni in SVU he's so intense I think hes perfect for Wolverine Jackman is too much of a pretty boy.

So did a lot of other people which was why Wolverine sounded Australian in the first Spiderman and the xmen pilot. Sinese who be a great Wolverine back in the day. I always thougth Mel was the perfect twoface especially after LWP1. If anyone has the Nick Fury vs sheild Graphic novel their is an exact depiction of Kurt Russel as Fury. My favorite choice for Fury was the guy who used to chase the A team around all he needed was an eye patch and some hair dye.

Again, back in 1962, fans wrote in the Fantastic Four Fan Page who they wanted to play some of the villains in the FF film.
(These letters were just one fans opinion and others would later on write in their two cents about the picks. Plus at this point in the comic the only villains to appear were Mole Man, Puppet Master, Namor, and Dr. Doom.)

Typecasting perhaps, but certainly accurate.

In a similar vein, I am ashamed to admit that, when thinking of other "New X-Men" characters, I immediately thought of Keir Gilchrist as Anole. He's kind of little and seems incredibly mature and comfortable playing a gay (even stereotpically so) character on "United States of Tara." I've only seen the first episode but he plays an out-of-closet gay teen who mediates his loving but dysfunctional family and even has an action/fight scene.

I like Ali Larter for Carol Danvers as she has done a (peripherally) similar character on "Heroes."

Hugo Weaving as Doctor Doom. Imagine that cool and methodic disdain for his lessers.

It's a shame we don't have anyone like Vincent Price out there to play Dr. Strange. All I can think of is Johnny Depp, but that's so damned cliche' now that I feel dirty even saying it.

Ideally I would really want a different juggernaut (some huge guy with a wide face and red hair) but that isnt likley to hapen seeing as how fox (who has control of the x-men film properties) feels the need to severely buttrape all continuity on every project they touch.
making styrker a wepon x guy??? wtf was with that? God loves man kills was an excellent story... why take away its effect by changing the main villains purposes?
anyway... I wish it could get a reboot... same with FF... so many things were just royaly screwed.
oh and btw you noted on the ff recasting board that you liked denisof and banks... so by definition you cant "adamantly disagree" with 99.9 of my choices... seeing as how you like two and there are less than 100 etc...

Yes she has; all throughout Claremont's run, in the animated series, in the last two movies and even up to how she's drawn in the New Warriors. I'd be hard pressed to think of an example of her not being drawn as a clearly Asian woman.

ok so i took a look through some of the newer incarnations of jubilee (like the last 5 years) and yeah she does look asian now... so I guess thats something I missed... but since her heritage isnt really central to her character... would it really matter? I mean nick fury changed races and it works just fine. I like both versions of him...

anyway, Ive never really gotten positive feedback from other comic fans because as a general rule of thumb it seems that forums and boards work kinda like the cliques in school, and if your new then you get bashed out of there or eventually earn the right to voice your opinions... So I come prepared for a lot of hard sells to begin with.

regardless though, I have ideas and I like them so will be posting them. So the overindulged pompous bullies (every forum does have them... and I'm sure people recognize who they are) can simply deal with it... and also, for the bratty "i still think and behave like I am 12" people... dont expect me to take you seriously, you probably liked shumachers batman flicks

just saying that she isnt one of those characters that brings her ethnicity into full veiw or relavence... its not like shes thunderbird or sunfire. her character has never made a big deal about her heritage or background. the defining points to her are more that shes a gen x mallrat than anything else.

I mean if it was someone like storm where part of her as a character is clearly her african heritage and former standing as a tribal weather witch I would be pissed if that was ignored (can we say halle barry? and her total lack of accent or pressence onscreen) but jubilee.... as long as shes got black hair, wears bright colors and acts ike a teenage girl... I'm not really gonna have much beef with it.

even kitty makes a bigger deal out of being jewish than jubilee ever has out of being asian... and arguably the same points could be made about the nick fury character... being an old white guy could have been a defining point for him, but ultimately it just isnt. there are stronger points about him that define who he is... the race just turned out to be kind of a side note.

some characters are like that though... while others are very dead fixed in certain characteristics...

examples

wolverine must be canadian, but apparently his 5 ft 3 stature is flexible

gambit must be cajun... but his age can vary

luke cage is black. hair or no hair makes no difference, dude is always gonna be black. If he aint then its not luke cage

calisto is a morlock... but can be drawn as anything from latino to white or asian... kinda odd... but Ive seen artists make her look like all three

and of course if frank quitley draws the character then for some odd reason its ok for everyone to look bizzare... like why did emma look like a white haired asian in the new x-men?

jubilee- her parents died within the first few appearances of her character. while their death was crucial in her character development, Their immigration status from china was less important than her beverly hills schooling and life in the mall when she lost her home... she could have just as easily been adopted... but now that I actually know her character is asian, I would subsequently change my casting choice to be someone like Jamie Chung... but personality wise... I still think deschanel could pull off the character aspects...

Crowe's price tag was too high for the movie, thats why he didn't do it.
But I saw an interview where he was making fun of doing a superhero movie, so I don't know how serious he would have been anyway. And there probably wouldn't have been the spin off.

Then again, maybe he would have read about the character, the idea of what mutants are, and who Wolverine is, and had gotten totally invested in the character like Jackman did. Who knows.

hey, instead of rebooting x-men or doing a prequel... does anyone like the idea of simply doing an alternate continuity set of movies? i mean we have plenty to choose from. the comics have several continuity lines now, x-men evo was seperate, x-men tas was seperate, the movies were seperate from all of those... and wolverine and the x-men has created a kind of different one now...

I personally think the idea of an x-men evolution movie, filmed and then animated over like "a scanner darkly" style... could be kinda cool and different, without having to be big budget... perhaps it could jumpstart this new approach in a way that scanner didnt...

I have some casting ideas here, if youre not offended by nudity that is. (I did them as part of an ongoing pinup series I'm working on)

I gotta admit, the Schroder idea is growing on me... I mean he grew up on camera as the all american kid until he reached adulthood and soldified himself as a serious actor on nypd blue... And he played a really good soldier in the andromeda strain.

I mean if cap is basically a dorky kid with patriotic ideals who then kinda gets thrust into becoming this badass figure and making the adjustment... then becoming a man kinda displaced from his own time... well I think he could pull that off.

I really do like the mark valley look for the way most artists have drawn cap and everything... but I really like the idea of captain america the movie following more of an alex ross sensability when it comes to style...

Guys I got the perfect guy for Cap! Tony Goldwyn(best known as villian from ghost but also played Neil armstrong in earth to the moon) He still looks pretty youthful,right build,voice and gravitas! His movie last house on the left is just about to come out and looks good. He is also a very talented director!(Dexter anyone?)

but... then again look what they did with the terrence howard as rhodey thing.... don cheadle (even though I love him as an actor) bears NO simmilarity to terrence howard... I hate it when the do that crap in a series. In my opnion if your going to replace an actor who actually had speaking lines, then you make a reboot not a sequel, or you get someone who bears at least a physical resemblance of some sort... But who knows, maybe cheadle will sell me with his performance like gyllenhall did in dark knight...

But personally I think gyllenhall looks enough like katie holmes that some people who cant differentiate between people (like my daughters) didnt even know the difference.

I have no clue how that works.

Thats more like the exception to the rule than the actual rule considering how many actors who were basically born to play their roles knocked it completely out of the park on all fronts (ie Perlman, Chiklis, Evans, Stewart, Reeve).

I get that, but I think Harrison can be way more heartthrob-y (boy is that an ugly word) than he usually seems on Reaper, where he's supposed to be more of an average guy, not to mention his character sports a perpetual frowny face. But I wouldn't rule him out.

Who's Alexis DeniSof? Good Cast some of them I never heard of .Ooookay, Denisof's most known for playing Wesley on "Angel" (the character first appeared on "Buffy" as the replacement Watcher when Giles got sacked). He's also married to Alyson Hannigan, which probably got him a recurring role in season 1 of "How I met Your Mother" (where he played a smarmy news anchor).

That's the extent of my relevent knowledge, and it's enough to make him my #1 pick for Reed.
