So the thread title is simple and i am sure you all understand it.

I hate hate the movies TOP GUN and INDEPENDENCE DAY.
I think Top Gun is the worst most popular movie ever made. If the hottest chick at the bar came on to me and asked me what my favorite movie was and I said, "You first." And she says Top Gun. I would take the drink I bought for her and walk away.

Donnie Darko. Overrated pretentious crap.
Requiem for a Dream. I didn't feel for the characters so the whole movie was rendered moot.

Didn't Bad Boys 2 make a lot of money? My friends all own it on DVD, too.

10 things is on T.V. like once a weekend so I figured people like it. And ask any girl, they probably love it.

And Evelisse, I hate that movie so much.

I wouldnt say I hate them, but I generally dont like any of what Stanley Kubrick has done. I think people love his films because he is an "artist," but I just find him to be a big weirdo creep.

Plus, save for a group of films, most movies made before 1970 dont really do anything for me.

I'm not sure if this counts as a movie that people "love", but I know that, for some reason, people went absolutely ape-**** over it when it first came out:

Napoleon Dynamite

Just about everytime I so much as think about that awful, awful movie, I get the urge to beat the life out of something. The movie was just a turd-sandwich. I swear, if I ever see Jon Heder on the street, I'm gonna spin kick him for releasing such terribleness onto the rest of the world.

Sentinel X

All the Saw movies - This is a franchise that, first of all shouldn't be a franchise...one was enough. And the concept of Saw 1 "a serial killer that makes you kill yourself" is so cool and different, it should've been the modern Silence of the lambs but instead its one of the worse films ever. ugh

ALL the Jason movies - I mean it, Jason is a mega crappy charecter.

Pirates of the Carribean (All of them) - Terrible rip off of Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island :o

All the Harry Potter movies - I read the first and half the second and I just couldn't get into it, I actually hated them...so of course the films haven't done anything for me either.

Scarface - I never liked this movie. Its pretty darn overrated

Alien 3 - This movie is terrible to the max! How can people like it?

Shrek 2 and 3 - The first was charming and clever. The second and third were terrible films. Heck in the first, even though it was a kids film you had adult jokes here and there. The 2nd and 3rd was an all out kids fest.

Independence Day - Terrible movie that made waayyy too much.

Tobe Hopper's Teas Chainsaw Massacre - I laughed at it half the time. Especially when the main charecter jumps through a window, wtf. Its just really funny to me (I'd like to add the remakes as well....but nobody liked those anyway...soo)

BIGGEST ONE:

The Departed - This movie is so overrated its not even funny. I thought the film was TERRIBLE!...and it goes off to get oscars...That confuses me a bit. Of all the films I've seen from Martin Scorcese...this is his worst.

I remember in my local paper, around the time AOTC came out, there was a cartoon of a guy camping out in front of the theater to see it. Somebody was asking him about the wait & he basically said he didn't mind, apart from the occasional razzing from passers-by. Then someone shouted "$114 million in 3 days, loser!" & the fan said, "Especially the Spider-Man fans. They all need a good beating."

You usually don't hear Trekkers going, "We're the best! Critics and the fans have spoken! WE ARE BETTER THAN YOU AND BATMAN IS THE GREATEST EVER!"

Batman Begins was boring and The Dark Knight was "Who Shot Liberty Valence" with makeup and costumes.

I hate most Tim Burton films, I don't know why. Maybe it's because most of his films(although they are original in a way) have the same sorta feel as the last movie did. I never liked 'Batman '89'(even before 'Batman Begins'). Now, I liked a few of his films, like 'Edward Scissorhands' and 'Nightmare Before Christmas', but all of my complaints before are still on the list for the two. I also hate all of the movies made by the guys who made 'The Matrix', they're so dull and boring. 'Equilibrium' was the better 'Matrix', in my opinion. A better actor in the leading role. A better story. Better action sequences. It wasn't the perfect film, but when I look back at it, I realize that it had a limited budget, and 'The Matrix' had a larger budget. Overall, I liked 'Equilibrium' better.

Burton is my favorite director.

Well, maybe. All my friends have a favorite director, so I say Burton's mine, mainly cause Burton is the only director whose movies I've seen all of (except Sleepy Hallow and Sweeny Todd) and loved all of them.

Same goes for people who do not like Kubrick films or Citizen Kane. Modern audiences can't appreciate beauty and writing of Citizen Kane because we just wanna see SH** blow up. It stings me read this stuff.
Regarding "Citizen Kane", if you take away all of the innovative ways of filmmaking, which I said before that I appreciated, all you have is an average movie that drags on for too long. The plot isn't infallible, because it has one of the biggest mistakes in film history. (When Kane dies, nobody is in the room to hear him say "Rosebud", yet they know he said it anyway...how?) And so what if people want to see **** blow up? Action movies like "Die Hard" and "Aliens" are far better than "Citizen Kane". Yeah, I said it.

Diehard and Aliens are two of my favorite action movies but I can't say they are better than Citizen Kane. It's just a different time of technology in film making. Before movies were made just for the well written action scenes there are some great dramas. But I guess I am different I like dramas and suspense thrillers as much as action movies or more. The only ones I like more are Comicbook movies and some Sci-Fi that are well done.

"Crystal Skull" is the only one I've seen all the way through, & I was bored out of my mind.

Batman Returns-to me, it was every bit as hokey & campy as the follow-ups. And Batman just looked like a straight-up tool.
Superman 1 & 2-yes, the beloved Holy Grail of comic book movies. They had bad plots & lame villains, lackluster performances by actors who were cast solely b/c of their names-the only thing I liked about those movies was Reeve. The next 2, as we all know, even he couldn't save.

finding nemo was the most over-rated movie pixar ever produced. In fact, i think its in the bottom 3 of all pixar movies.

Quoted for truth.

I Am Legend...twas horrible.

The first half was good. Could have been longer. It went downhill to the point where the woman and child found Will. But Will's performance was great though. I wish I could of seen alot more Neville by himself. That was the most fascinating part for me. Just seeing him struggle to survive by himself in a city infested of vampire/zombies with only his knowledge and his dog. I just loved seeing his daily routine. That was the high point of the film. But the film was too short.

Yep, I used to like it a couple years ago. I watched it a month ago. And I had to force myself to finish it. Dammit, Fox, you could of waited another year for Singer! I think X3 could of been his redeeming film after SR.

I generally find the X3 hatred to be way out of hand. Is it perfect? No. But the way most Hypers talk about it, you would think that its the next CINO, which it simply is not.

Would it have been better with Singer on board? Probably. But, as it was, I dont think it was horrible.

Indy IV, Star Wars Episode III and the overrated piece of crap that is The Graduate.By Episode III you mean Revenge of the Sith right? I was under the impression that people hated that film because, well...it was garbage. Without a doubt the worst film in the series. At least Phantom Menace had Liam Neeson and Darth Maul to balance things out, but Revenge of the Sith was pretty awful.

Anyhoo. Crash sucked.

Never liked The Lion in Winter. Superb cast, couldn't get in to it though.

Cabaret. Great stage musical, but why exactly is the movie one that I should see before I die? The film was pretty weak.

Saying that Titanic is overrated is overrated.
