Do you think life is wasted doing what "we do"?
School....then work + school...then...work.
With vacations spread throughout.
9-5 leaves 5 hours before 10 PM...what do you do with that? School is an hour ealier than that...
Should life be....spent differently?

I think most of life is a waste. But, we signed the social contract in a way, so live with it.

you could just go get a small cabin in the woods, do odd jobs and live off the land. There are plenty of ways to live life other then 9 to 5 in a cubical. Find your passion, and find a way to make it a job.

I want to do something important with my life. I'm not sure what it is yet, though.

I voted for school sucks, work is ok because quite frankly...school does suck!
I remember my maths teacher said half of the stuff we learn we dont even need it in
the future. SO WHY ARE WE LEARNING IT? :cmad:

Maybe I should leave my answer until I'm not in work, making sure that I give an unbiased opinion.

If you squint your eyes like this *squints* and put plugs in your ears, then Spawn is actually a lil bit of a dude.

No one is really forcing you to live the life you lead, there are plenty of opportunities to escape from the system, all you have to do is to move and give up the things one normally takes for granted.
It is ultimately what you wish it to be if you have the opportunities and courage to do so.

There is not a single soul on this forum that dislikes Eggy. You and I are like yin and yang like that because I don't know too many people here who don't dislike me. Don't argue... I speaks the trooth.

Right now work and school for me are things to subsist on until I can be doing what I'm supposed to be doing with my life in my "off" hours...which are actually my on hours from my POV.

If you go to school you get a better job then you get more money and you retire sooner.

It does feel like there's more work involved than actual pay off when it comes to life. The majority of it is is spent either at work or school with little time to enjoy it in between (vacations have always felt too short to me) and by the time you do make enough money to retire, chances are you're too old to enjoy all those things you wanted to do in your younger days.
Yeah, you get a choice of working with little pay off or not working and having...nothing, but it's not much of a fair choice considering how obvious the answer is.
Unless you have a job you really love, which for some of us just isn't there because a lot of the things we love doing you can't make a proper living off of (Can't really just apply for a job as a writer or singer or actor or sports superstar. It's a little more complicated than that).
Voted work beats school though. With work you get paid and don't have to bring the work home with you. Sometimes you can be out of school and still feel like you're in it because of the amount of work you're assigned.

Interesting question. Personally for me, a 9-5 is a small price to pay for a number of "securities". There's a school of thought that says human beings "need" to work to feel fulfilled.
As long as you're learning and experiencing things, I don't think work or school is a "waste". I think both of them can be ways to better ourselves.
you could just go get a small cabin in the woods, do odd jobs and live off the land. There are plenty of ways to live life other then 9 to 5 in a cubical.
9 to 5 in the fields?

arggh yet another poll without the OTHER option!!!!
OTHER:
Your life is only wasted if you don't enjoy it or if you don't help others along the way. If you enjoy what you're doing (work / school / whatever) then your life isn't a waste. If you have helped even 1 other person in some small way your life is not a waste either.
