Finally caught this week's BATMAN: BRAVE AND THE BOLD. Not the peak of the series, but still a fun adventure, on par with most of the rest of the series. Isn't out for an Emmy, but to give you a fun time for 22 minutes:

Stone Arch Books (http://www.stonearchbooks.com/Heroes), children's book publisher of fiction graphic novels and chapter books, has partnered with DC Comics to publish DC SUPER HEROES, a new book series based around DC Comics' iconic characters BATMAN and SUPERMAN. Debuting this month with 12 titles, DC SUPER HEROES pairs new stories by Stone Arch Books authors with original art by DC Comics illustrators. The full-color chapter books feature contemporary adventure and crime fighting tales with appropriate language and content for students in elementary grades. The series will include a total of 48 titles published over a two-year span. Chapter books based on DC's WONDER WOMAN character will be introduced in Spring 2010.
"The new, thrilling stories with familiar characters like BATMAN and SUPERMAN will spark an interest and engage striving and reluctant readers," said Joan Berge, President of Capstone Publishers' fiction division. "These books are unlike any other books in the market. Our DC SUPER HEROES series features new stories and original art in a chapter book format, helping readers transition from picture books and beginning readers to short paragraphs and chapters with lots of action."

Series Summary : Look! Up in the sky. It's a bird. It's a plane. No, it's the newest, coolest offering from Stone Arch Books -- DC comics chapter books, featuring the world's greatest superheroes. Superman, the Man of Steel, defeats aliens and supervillains, and rescues Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen. Funny, unlike BL's juvenile demeanor, I felt that Bronze Tiger was right in telling his sensei to kiss his a$$. He was the only one to last the longest against him yet got no credit for it from his teacher.
Bitter perhaps? Yes. Angry black man syndrome? No.

Just saw B&B, damn that old school Joker is pretty awesome! I liked his laugh, and something about his posture/stance (especially when leaving the jewelry store) it reminded me a bit of Heath's Joker. I couldn't help but chuckle at the corny things Joker was doing or saying, "Too toxic, too stabby, too fruity.":hehe:
The pulling the bazooka out of his pants was reminiscent of The Mask. Overall great episode. Looking forward to seeing how this version of The Question turns out, Jeffery Combs added a lot to the character in JLU.

IMO most of the time the main key factor to the Success in the animation films or tv series is the storytelling . For the most part the writers give it their all in making sure the story is rock solid . They focus more on the story than the action .
Where as the live action directors focus more on the action sequences , the Big Time Hollywood stars & sex appeal . Rather than the flow of the storyline .
Agreed I most definitely want more of The Joker in The Batman : Brave & The Bold with more bat villains, Gotham City, The Bat Cave . I Can't wait for Robin's public debut in season 2 .

I always wondered why Bruce Timm never went into script writing for any super hero live action...

I can't say enough about how great BTAS is. It's been able to stand the test of time and is one of the best TV shows, animated or not.
Regarding Dent's "long" face, it didn't bother me. The long face was that of someone with a chiseled jaw, IMO. I've always thought of Harvey as a handsome, charming guy, someone who you would trust as your local DA. That's why Eckhart was such a great Harvey/Two-Face.

Is it alright to say that even before he turned into Two-Face, (the TAS) Harvey Dent looked like a gangster/mob enforcer?
Gotta say, the animation for the scene where Dent breaks down as Rupert Thorne tries to blackmail him in "Two-Face part 1" is still really powerful & nerve racking all these years later.

AICN (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/40430) has discovered that Warner Animation's next animated film after "Green Lantern" will be "Superman/Batman: Public Enemies".
United States President Lex Luthor uses the oncoming trajectory of a kryptonite asteroid to frame Superman and declare a $1 billion bounty on the heads of the Man of Steel and his "partner in crime" Batman. Super heroes and super villains alike launch a relentless pursuit of Superman and Batman, who must unite - and recruit super help - to stave off the action-packed onslaught, stop the asteroid, and uncover Luthor's devious plot to take command of far more than North America. :batty: :super:
The animated film will be based on the story of the same name (written by Jeph Loeb and drawn by Ed McGuinness) which first appeared in "Superman/Batman" issues #1-6 (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1401202209/?tag=supermanhomepage/). The DVD will reportedly be released later this year around September/October.

Batgirl was so much cooler in B:TAS. Everything in The Batman felt like a sub-par rehash of B:TAS, basically. The first season had its own feel and it worked well enough (except for the usually terrible reimaginings of various villains) because Batman was on his own as a rookie. But then Batgirl and Robin entered the mix and it became a rehash of B:TAS' later seasons, and then various guest stars came in and it became a rehash of JLU.
I think the main reason Brave and the Bold is so much better than The Batman is because it's not afraid to just go in its own, completely different direction from B:TAS. You can't even compare the two because they're so fundamentally different.

And this incarnation also harkens back to my childhood days with his look and feel and that means alot to me. To be honest, I'm a huge Batman fan but all of the self-angst and brooding was getting monotonous with me. The latest version restores the balance of a character that's more universal than the usual grumbling signature we've grown accustomed to over the last 18 years or so.
As for Matsuda's, it wasn't tragic as a whole but clearly not as memorable down the road when we look back. I rank Filmation's Batman ahead of it.

Really? I hated the Filmnation Batman. I mean it was the 70's, but the production values for it were so low. The sole redeeming factor was Olan Soule, but the rest of the voices were lousy, and the animation was terrible, even by its time. To each its own, I guess.

Actually, I was referring to the New Adventures Of Batman from the 70s; Filmation did that one too and it's an improvement over the 60s cartoon shorts that you're presuming. Outside of the aggravating character that was Bat-Mite, the production values of the animation were damn good and put Hanna-Barbera's design of Bats to shame seeing that they aired in the same era.
And that version featured the voice of Adam West & Burt Ward. I know Soule did the 60s version and the Superfriends version. One was more impressionable than the other when you're just a kid and yes, in my eyes, Matsuda's Batman lacks considerably by comparison.
Only thing bad about it is the corny 70s storylines.

The Batman's Joker was very meh- no, terrible actually...B&B's Joker is awesome. What is there about that incarnation not to like?

I'm mixed about The Batman version of the Joker. The design did not bother me as much as other, and he did have some cool and twisted moments. However, he was portrayed most of the time as merely "villain of the week" with cliche and generic writing. That's were he dropped the ball.
So, anyone know when do we get new episodes of Brave and the Bold?

I was ok with it....I just have seen the Joker on screen before...part of the reason I like this show so much is that I get to see characters that normally wouldn't make it on air....Adam Strange, Bronze Tiger, Blue Beetle (Ted and Jaime)

In general, B+Bs Joker's voice was unsatisfying. he had some really fantastic lines where he sounded perfect, but in general it was a little off for me.

I'm watching Justice League again from the beginning and it's awesome. It's tough to see the Flash be so utterly pathetic again, though. I mean, I'm watching "The Brave and the Bold" and the Flash is having trouble catching up to a speeding truck. It's ridiculous.

Warner Bros. Animation celebrated the legacy of nearly 80 years of animation and the studio's new cartoon billboard at a public event on Tuesday night at the Warner Bros. Studios lot.
Updated for the first time in 15 years, the new mural represents the studio's heritage and showcases new interpretations of DC Comics super heroes such as Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, as well as classic characters like Bugs Bunny and Tweety Bird.

It would be more fitting if they used the TAS Batman design than this one. Still, they got the Batman rogues in it though.

Still, Looney Tunes and Warner Bros. Animation are synonymous to me. I suppose it's nice that they're represented at all, though, since the whole mural is clearly geared toward DC.

It's kind of sad that Warner has strayed from the more traditional characters that were the staple of their animation dept.

I would have preferred the TAS 1992-1995 character design of Catwoman myself as opposed to the "New Adventures" design.

Night of the Huntress
Blue Beetle develops a crush on an older, yet fatal Huntress, but there's no time for love when Babyface busts his gang out of prison! In the teaser, Batman teams up with Black Canary to take down Solomon Grundy.

So I was looking at Game Over For Owlman on my DVR last night and it's very clear that this is my favorite episode of the series thus far.
Did anyone else notice that during the final battle, Black Manta takes a break in the action to frantically accelerate the dehydration process on that machine Aquaman was strapped down on? That cracked me up to no end. :hehe:
It's the little things like this that makes this show so genius.
Also Joker running aimlessly with the bomb while the fracas goes on around him. Mark Hamill is king but Jeff Bennett's Joker is my second favorite. More Bennett Joker please. :word:
