Congrats to them. They piss me off when they win since I want them to lose. So they better not piss me off by losing.

Actually...I kind of like the Phillies chances. Cliff Lee is just as big a neutralizer as Sabathia, and their lineup may actually be deeper, especially if Tex and Swisher remain non-factors.
Anyone happy they're not an Indians fan?

Spidey ....I may tear up with all the positive things you have to say about The Phils:csad:
So happy they were able to come through again. This is such a great team to be a fan of because they always play till the end and they have no guy who's bigger then the team. The Phils, for what feels like forever have been a very bad franchise...to actually be known as one of the better franchises in the league is quite a shock. I like our chances with this lineup and rotation.
I hope we take down The Yanks....like everyone else I can't go through The Yanks fans coming out of the wood work to gloat

He pulled a Letterman.
At least the main woman that Letterman had an affair with (I believe her name is Stephanie) is remotely attractive. I mean, has anybody here actually seen the woman that's involved with Steve Phillips:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/10/21/steve-phillips-brooke-hun_n_328518.html
ESPN better fire Mr. Phillips. I mean, they would be the biggest hypocrites in the world if they'll fire Harold Reynolds just for hugging somebody, but do nothing about Steve Phillips for cheating on his wife with a co-worker.
TMC1982

IIRC, he hugged a woman that could have been considered groping.
Suspended? He should be fired. ESPN is racist :o

I still think the Yanks will come back to win this game, but should the Angels hang on Pettite has to potential to stink it up at home, so I'd say just under 50% chance of this going to game seven should the Angels win this game. No way C.C loses game seven though. Any impact on the game 1 starter though or would C.C still be on full rest?

If CC has to pitch a game 7, the earliest he could come back would be for game 2 on 3 days rest. Yanks aren't winning tonight, I felt coming in that AJ would give up 4 runs in 6 IP, just didn't think he would be this bad this early. Lackey will be too stingy tonight. Yanks aren't losing a game 6 to Saunders though at Yankee Stadium.

That would totally **** up their W.S rotation... I doubt they pitch him game 2 on three days rest unless the Yanks lose game 1 and they change last minute. So he'd basically go 3 and 6, with Burnett penciled for game 7 (or CC can probably go 3-4 innings on two days rest in relief if he pitches game 2 & 5). Still solid but dicey nonetheless. Least the Angels can do is make themselves the slightest bit useful and force this to a game 7.

Agreed. People need to stop blaming Girardi for everything that goes wrong. Did Girardi throw that meatball over the plate to Vlad after he looked so foolish on the breaking ball before that? And so far, it's almost guaranteed that every time he goes to Joba or Hughes they give up a hit as soon as they come in. Outside of Mo, bullpen has not been sharp. I thought it would be better, I was wrong.
I knew the Yanks would lose last night, just didn't expect it to be in that manner. I was pretty confident before last night's game that it would be Yankees in 6. Angels are too good for people to not expect them to go down without a fight. However, coming back the way the Yankees did and still losing I'm starting to think we may be seeing the sequel to:

Anyways, I know there is always second guessing with Girardi, but last night was ALL on the Bullpen and Burnett ****ting the joint in the 7th.
Swisher needs to be pushed all the way down in the lineup or swapped with Gardner. He had a good fight with Fuentes, and Fuentes had the jitters and looked like he was going to crap in his pants...Swish was just so late on that fastball.

Great game last night, and Yankees bullpen really blew it up. Now Yankees must win Game 6, otherwise CC will have to pitch Game 7 and that will jeopardize his chance to start Game 1 of the WS (if they made it there). The pressure's on the Yanks, and it'll be interesting how each team respond.

CC will not be able to start game 1 of the WS if he has to pitch game 7 against the Angels and wins. That would be on two days rest. Earliest he could go would be game 2 on 3 days rest. But that bridge will be crossed when/if they get there.
I disagree...The Yankees of 2004 had worse pitching (Remember Kevin Brown, Job Leiber, Esteban Loiaza) and their hitting in the 04 playoffs was just stagnant.

Oh no doubt, that pitching staff was awful. They had Lieber and Brown going in games 6 and 7, now they have Pettitte and CC. Not too mention the lineup now is so deep. But it is an eerie feeling I get. And if Game 7 happens, who knows what can happen. CC can pull up lame in the 2nd inning, he could just not have it. He could pitch well and Yankee bats could get tight. Because right now, all the pressure is on the Yankees. Angels will be as loose as can be.
Its like a marathon and honestly, to overcome the Yankees recent problems in the postseason they will have to go through those same adversities in the same circumstances.
If this yankee team is for real, then they will prove it if they beat the Angels and advance to win the World Series....It never was going to be easy.
Absolutely. I don't think any experts were predicting either team to win in 5 games. Most said 6 or 7. Everyone knew coming in this could be an epic battle. The Angels just dusted off the Red Sox, a team who some were predicting to go to the WS. It's just the way these series unfolds though sometimes that makes it disappointing, as if it should been closed out earlier because of the opportunities that were presented. But this series was pretty much always destined for at least 6.

Phillies were irrelevant up until 2007. I've hated the Yankees since the 90's when all my friends were riding their high horse. This season also made me care not so much about the Phillies since the Mets sucked. However, I constantly had to hear about how great the Yankees were almost everyday. So I want the team I've hated for 15 years and had to hear people wax poetically about every day to lose over the one I've hated for only 3 years and tuned out this season.

I think he got too greedy with AJ and wanted more out of him. I think after the base hit, he should have woken up and taken him out. Still amazed he let AJ start that inning, though. Agree with you on Guzman. He seems like dead weight, whereas with Hinske atleast we'd have a bat.

On a topic that actually matters, this just kind of makes you realize how dumb the extended playoff format is.
Due to Saturday's rain and the extended playoff schedule, the Angels have had 12 days off this postseason, which is as many as they had from June 2 through the end of the regular season. They played 113 games during that earlier span. They've played eight in the postseason. They have yet to play three days in a row.

"If C.C. Sabathia starts Game One of the World Series, the Yankees will know they won tonight."
Brilliant insight, McCarver.oh god
Joe Morgan isn't even that dumb.
Can you imagine what would happen if both of them were somehow on the same broadcast team? Even for just a game? I'm betting the universe would implode.spontaneous human combustion

It's not just that he's slow (which he is), it's that he just stood out there and watched Swisher catch it before even starting back.

Look they put in another pitcher and Bam double play.
That was a BS call on that one pitch that walked in a run. Twice, really.

A-Rod with another dirty hit. Nothing like the slap obviously, but come on. There's sliding hard and then there's throwing your elbow up into the other guy's crotch. He's just a dirty player in every sense of the word.

I'm guessing Gamma Ray is gonna wait til the game is over before his bloated ego pollutes this place. That is if the Yankees hold their lead of course.
