I honestly thought this **** went out back in the early 90s when there were groups doing covers of hip hop songs, but whatever. I didn't even like the original, so I ain't exactly all "dude this is tight!" over this one either.

Both the rock and the rap/hip hop worlds are horrendous right now. More so the rap/hip hop world, rarely ever do I hear a rap song and like it anymore. :(

I like Kanye West music, but I can't listen to it without remembering he's a massive douchebag.

Yeah, I had to endure like two minutes of douchery before it actually got to the song...which was essentially three minutes of douchery.
I like Kanye West music, but I can't listen to it without remembering he's a massive douchebag.
Agreed. And I hate the stupid "shutter-shades" fad he started with a passion.

I put on a pair of those the last time I went to Spencer's Gifts. I looked like a douche in them, and I could barely see where I was going.

The question is who was wearing more eye liner, the emo douches or the girls they were after?

When will people learn to just leave the classics alone?

I'm right there with you on that....and he should stop trying to perform live. His SNL performances last night was cringe worthy.

Rap in general needs to stay away from live performances. Rap and Katy Perry. Katy Perry's actually singing makes me want to strangle her. That would be a shame too, since it would be a waste of nice boobs.

I was about to criticize that statement, but who am I kidding? The audiences of Showtime At The Apollo love rap, but will kick a rapper off the stage without hesitation.

I mean, yeah, the classics like Run DMC always sounded good, but most of these guys these days have some much in studio work done to their sh-- they can't even half-reproduce it on stage. I remember seeing 50 cent on stage live once (a friend of mine saw Ludacris -- similar situation) and man did he ever suck hard. He could barely talk and move at the same time and you could totally hear them playing his song behind him so it could sound somewhat similar to what was on the album -- though they failed to do so.

I'm really sick of hearing people talk about how great they think Lil Wayne is. It seems like everyone I know is on his balls. My neighbor was even singing his raps in front of our families when we ate at a restaurant not too long ago. It was ****ing embarassing.

"we are not the same, I am a marshin"
first time I heard it, my friends were singing along while I sat thinking "WTF does that even mean?" It's like music doesn't have to mean anything anymore.

1) It's Martian
2) He means he's like an alien, i.e. not human. Thus, not the same as "you people" (humans)
Wow. Out of ALL the Wayne lyrics, you actually chose the one that takes little thought to understand. :funny:

I guess if you really want to stretch the definition of "rock" to include the lighter stuff, I can name Ben Folds' cover of Dr. Dre's "B****es Ain't s***."

Or when, I think it was The Gourds, did "Gin and Juice" by Snoop Dogg. The song actually isn't very good, but fun to listen to at least.

Anyway, the only time I ever thought Wayne was a good rapper was when he was still young and back when Cash Money was still popular. And at that time he wasn't that popular; being that I'm not that into rap anymore, when did everyone start jumping on his nuts all of a sudden?
And what's with everyone using that machine they use to make them sound like computers now?

It's called Autotune. It was once used occasionally for the sake of having funny sounds in songs, but "rapper turned singer" T-Pain made a career out of singing all of his songs that way. It then became a trend that was followed by Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, and Kanye West. Because anyone can sing with Autotune.
