SERIOUSLY!! You know many of you regret getting a thing or two from the dark knight toy madness.

Just let me know if anyone spots fruit of the loom Watchmen undies

Its a hobby. And I enjoy it a lot. And i'll glady pay 150 bucks for a well sculpted piece of art of my favorite character.

Picked up the DC Direct Rorschach at TRU today. Pretty awesome figure. I'll probs grab the Nite Owl II and Dr. Manhattan figs sometime in the near future, though TRU only had the Wave 1 figs, so I guess I'll have to wait for Manhattan.

Well there's a big difference between collecting statues or busts, and collecting toys.

Oh crap..... -.- If Hot Toys creates Watchmen figures, I'll have to take out a loan.....or sell a kidney or something :oldrazz:! I have gotten so many of their TDK figures. I kinda hope they do come up with something cool. But then again, I kinda hope they don't, haha!

Not really. I mean, the toys that I usally buy are high end, great detail, great paints, everything. Sure, i'll buy the occasional lower end figure from Hasbro or whatever, because they're pretty cool sometimes.

But theres nothing wrong with this hobby. Does it have a point? No. Not really...but its fun. And I enjoy it.

Well, that I can understand of course. I was really talking about people who just collect all the toys of something. Still, it's a hobby, but I just think it's an odd one due to the low quality consumer goods and the non-limited edition...ness.

This figure gets extra points with me because it comes with something I’ve been wishing toy companies would do for years – index figures that actually fit in to the triggers of his guns to make sure he can hold on to them robustly. How novel! His uniform is very well detailed and sculpted – Tim Bruckner is responsible for both of these.

I wouldn't wait too long. Theres a few comic shops in my area. One is completely sold out of figures and aren't expecting anymore in. The other charges 24 bucks a figure which is ridiculous and of course theres Hot Topics/Spencers/TRU that will sell them anywhere in the 17-20 dollar range. I picked up a few and I'll probably get ozy and silk too especially after seeing it tonight

And I wouldn't complain about a Silk Spectre that sucked my balls...that would be quite the action feature.

LoL, well....nothing! That's the point!! Not all of these figures are decently articulated but the ones that are..ya can't even move them hardly...their range of movement blows giant whale cack....it's maddening! For example articulated calves would have been great on the rest of the figures but for some reason only Comedian got 'em  T-hips or ball socket hips would have been great..the ball socketed arm joints suck (Rorschach doesn't even have any :cmad:) except on Comedian..he can move them quite nicely...but Manhattan for instance can move his arms..but only to a certain extent...its very limited.

Nite Owl has gimpy 3year old girl wrists and forearms for some odd reason (which RRRREEEALLLY pisses me off because he's the coolest looking character in the movie imo)

Either way though alllllll that being said I did infact warm up to the figures...I tried to put them in the best poses I could that I was happy with so all is not that bad all things considering....I mean, could have been worse...McFarlane would have got the license and then I really would have had some statues for the birds in my back yard to crap on.

I switched the bodies on the DCD with a Hot Toys True Type. The best body around. 10 times better. He can actually hold some real poses.

I have a question, are there two different unmasked Rorschach's? I noticed there's one that's called the prisoner variant that shows him more beat up and holding one of the signs with his name on it like you'd see in mug shots. the other, he doesn't look all that beat up and doesn't have the mug shot sign.

The beaten up mug shot Rorschach is a Toys-R-Us exclusive, whereas the regular unmasked Rorschach should be available at most places

I really wish there was a version of The Comedian when he was younger an the Watchmen were first started. I thought he looked so bad ass there.

http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/4590/jeffreydeanmorgan.jpg

i would love a classic Comedian figure.

hopefully series 3 will feature the rest of the missing Minutemen and an unmasked scarred Comedian from 'Nam.

a black suited Dr. Manhattan would be cool too.

but I haven't heard much about a third series.

http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk256/September_Gloaming/DC_Direct_Blake.jpg

The thing with the 1/6th scale figure is that Blake came with a removable domino mask. But there was *a lot* of flesh coloring around the eyes. So I kinda modified my Comedian by putting black around the eyes...I don't plan on displaying him without the mask anyway! :oldrazz:

Yeah, that is kinda annoying. Course a little paint could fix that :oldrazz: The chest piece seems to be like a hard plastic shell that has little dark grey lines painted on it for contrast. The pants are made out of this fakey leather type vinyl stuff that is really much darker than the black plastic pieces. Oh well...it's alright. I wasn't expecting Hot Toys like quality for these things anyway. :yay:

Shadow-Guardian
03-26-2009, 11:56 AM
Yeah, some black paint could fix the torso. But still, the pants, like you said, are leathery. So it distracts from the actual torso or the whole figure for that matter. Oh well. I'm sure more companys are gonna make more figures. They always do. Look at TDK. Figures and dolls are STILL coming.

I actually absolutely LOVE the normal Dr. Manhattan as well as the transluecent one...they are both equally really awesome action figures--

..I think both are mandatory--for instance you've got the regular thicker blue one and the clear one when he is 'powerin' up' so to speak and ready to take out some machine gun weilding thugs :D!!!

Either way I did pick up the maskless Rorschach figure which is literally just an orange haired dude with trenchcoat but he is AWESOME! Probably because the character and the way he was protrayed in the movie was wicked :)

I do want to get the maskless Toys R Us version with prison plate and beat up bloody face.

I wonder if there will be a Series 3--I'd love a Dan figure in regular clothes and Ozy in purple business suit...OH and a Bubastis as well ;)

ALSO one thing a Comedian that is accurate to the one in Nam..the one they made wasn't that good...awesome but not that accurate

I'm happy with both of mine, The older version has a cigar in his mouth but the youthful version doesn't. There bother the same figure with the exception of ones him right before he gets scarred and the other is of him when hes talking to Dan while Dan has a flashback during the funeral

I'm waiting for hot toys, although if I did see a reg. figure I'd probably nab it immediately. I live in South Korea though and big toy stores are definitely much more absent, same with western toys (funny since they're made on this side of the world!).

Here's to hoping we see the quality of the recent MMSDX Joker and Jon Connor figures applied to the ol' crimebusters.

Heard a rumor somewhere that some company, similar to Hot Toys, is making new Watchmen figures or dolls or something. I don't remember where I read it but it was on some toy site. Take it with a grain of salt. It may not even be true, but I thought it was interesting.

Here's something better suited for someone with the Manhattan translucent variant: a lighted base.
Dollar Tree stores here in the US carry those bases used to light 3d engraved glass sculptures, but they also work great for a Dr. M stand as shown. I affixed the clear stand the figure comes with to the lighted base via the square t-peg that comes with all the figures. Just drilled a hole through the top plastic on the base and let set with a drop of super glue.

Just wanted to share so someone more talented can make the concept look better with the other fig.
