OK, that's a wrap for Hawkeye's back story.
I've tried contacting someone for an arc with no avail, so I'll put out an open casting call, it might work out better.
Any street-level or low-powered hero who would like to do something involving Cloak, please PM me. Thank you.
If Master Bruce and Cap never show up, may I make a suggestion?

No, that whole post was in the past, before Fisk went to jail

There's still a gap between where that post ends and where Hawkeye's story picks up at the beginning of the season. This was just to explain what he was doing and why he puts the costume back on, with the assumption now he and Mockingbird have been working solo now for a while with Funding from Tony before this season ever starts
So..Who know's the plan for this Gang war arc with the Kingpin?

I was thinking about picking up the Silver Surfer again, but I'm not sure because so far this season is only focusing on Earthly heroes. I don't know if you guys feel ready to open it up to interstellar throwdowns. Of course, the Surfer means introducing Galactus, so not sure if you guys want him running around. I did want to keep it more like the first Silver Surfer series where he's stuck on Earth, so the intergalactic crazyness would be kept to a minimum. Any opinions?

Odd question. Back in season 2 of the last round of Marvel RPG I played Jamie Madrox and had this huge storyline involving him, his better dupe, and a longrunning mystery involving the death of a guy named Vincent Marquise. After I finished I grouped my every post and all the posts that tied-in and made a file of the story. I had a few other players ask for it so I sent it to them. Now, after several computer wipes and such I've realized that I no longer have it and I don't remember who I sent it to.
By some odd chance, did any of you get a copy of that? I'd like to get a copy back if possible.
By the way, there's another very indepth mystery brewing in my mind with X-Factor Investigations in the center that I wouldn't mind playing out. I'm not sure if I have time for it just yet due to getting the Contest of Marvels started, but I might jump in here soon. Do you guys have any idea when this season is due to end and the next to begin? That'd probably be best for the story. It's pretty huge.

Out of curiosity (and I'm a little scared to ask this) but I noticed the first post. What happened to Venom UK?
And can anyone give a rundown of what's gone on thus far in this new season? I might apply to play anyway, even if I wait on the Madrox storyline I have in mind. I might try to play as someone else to get my writing practice.
I didn't realize how much I missed this until I started rooting through the stories and such. I found the old Season 2 with my old Madrox story, and in the process found season 4 where I completely forgot I did a long storyline with Shocker as one of Thanos' henchmen. Good stuff! Now I"m itching to get back involved and I'm trying to think of someone I can apply as.

He tragically passed New Years Eve as a result of his cistic fibrosis.
This new Season was obviously a complete reboot. There has been a bounty on heroe's heads, a gang war is brewing, and a new team of Avengers have formed...
That's a very basic nutshell.

Character you would like to play: Jamie Madrox The Multiple Man
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v293/JewishHobbit/Madrox.jpg
Powers: He can create Multiples of himself, each with a differant portion of his own personality. He can then reabsorb them and remember everything they've learned.
Three reasons why you have chosen that character:
1. I've played him before and he's one of my favorate characters.
2. I love the concept of X-Factor Investigations, though I hope to take it from the ground up instead of having the team that's established.
3. I like the options of creating dupes to allow me to participate in multiple storylines at once if I choose to.
Write two complete sentences using proper English grammar explaining what you think you can bring to this RPG in particular:
I think I can bring in some twists and turns to the current bounty storyline and I believe that the story I've thought of today can branch into one that everyone can read and enjoy. I've also planned several twists and turns to my own storyline that could be entertaining for myself and others.

I plan on doing some reading in the coming days so I'll be able to more integrate myself in the ongoing storylines smoothly.
P.S. last time I had a strict storyline that required little other character involvement. I have some story plans this time, but I'm open. I'm just getting my gaming chops back up to snuff. So if anyone thinks Madrox or my npcs Guido, Layla, or Random (the characters so far introduced in my 2 posts) could benefit their stories, send me a PM. I'm up for helping anyone else out.

A brilliant question!
bkhedr
02-17-2009, 05:39 AM
Well my thing is if it is something that affects other people's stories, is blatantly out of character, or using an incorrect power set or what have you, or writes something that directly contradicts someone else's post for no reason; then I think editing should be mandatory.
But as for my mistake (I readily admit that it is a mistake) I don't see how an edit is necessary. I mean so what if they have met before or not? Its not like they are Iron Man and Captain America or Proffesor Xavier and Cyclops. We're talking about Sabretooth interacting with Iron Fist and Luke Cage. If Byrd and Sensei don't mind I think it should be ok. (course I may be wrong but I think Harl agrees with me and was just giving me some info)
Heck Marvel's editors deliberately allow much much worse practically every month.

Zenn-La
Several Years Ago
The young lovers Norrin Radd and Shalla-Bal lay on the grass, enjoying a picnic. As they tasted the ripe fruits, spicy meats and sweet pastries Norrin's mood began to dim.
"What is it that bothers you so?" asked Shalla-Bal, touching Norrin's shoulder.
"What joy is there in a day such as this when it is all that we know?" replied Norrin.
"Would you rather have days of hardship, endure storms and cold, disease and violence as we have in days past?"
"No, my Shalla-Bal, suffering for its own sake should be eradicated. What I mean to say is that we have not earned this day, this moment. Every boon that we have was given to us by our forefathers. Thouh no one in four generations has had to suffer any hardship, no one in four generations has had any meaningful goals. We rest on our laurels; never testing ourselves, never bettering ourselves. We are merely thoughtless animals who have inherited paradise."
Norrin's face lit up as he realized the solution. "Imagine how much greater it was to marvel at these temples for our ancestors, who first put stone upon stone with the sweat of their brows! Think what accomplishment one would feel after completing such a task instead of taking it for granted!"
Shalla-Bal quickly was becoming worried. Norrin had never had such emotional outbursts before - hardly anyone on Zenn-La had - and it scared her.
"I can see you are frightened, my love, but do not fear - risk and reward go hand in hand! Yes, we could disappoint, fall short or fail, but how much greater could we rest knowing that we gave it a try instead of simply enjoying the accomplishments of others?" Norrin was standing now, speaking louder and more enthuastically and gathering attention from others.
Shalla-Bal tugged at him, "Please, you're making a scene! Surely you do not wish to draw such unusual attention!"
"I understand if you are unaccustomed to thinking so, my dearest, for we have been lax for several generations. Though this delicious food may nourish the body, it is adventure which nourishes the spirit!"

Screen Name: Spike_x1
Character you would like to play: Bruce Banner and The Incredible Hulk
Powers: Genius intellect as Banner. As the Hulk: potentially unlimited strength, superhuman healing factor, high degree of resistance to physical damage, indestructible purple pants.
Three reasons why you have chosen that character:
1. I would like to take part in this reboot of the Marvel RPG. I thought about taking up my old role as the Taskmaster, but it seems like he's being used, but the Hulk was available and I am a fan of his as well.
2. The duality of the characters of Banner and Hulk is something that I've always found fascinating, and would definitely like to explore for myself.
3. HULK SMASH PUNY APPLICATION!
Write two complete sentences using proper English grammar explaining what you think you can bring to this RPG in particular: I'm not the stereotypical Hulk fanboy who thinks that the Hulk just simply can't be beaten; whereas the Hulk is a major player in the MU, but there are plenty of characters and situations that can be a challenge for him. I'd like to explore the more vulnerable sides of Hulk, and make Banner and Hulk more equal in their value by presenting situations where intelligence is needed more than brute strength.Sample Post:
The dream has always been the same. Every night for a number of weeks now. As the countdown draws to its close, I catch sight of young Rick Jones out in the test field, foolishly ignoring the warning signs and the flashing gamma bomb in the distance. My words are muted in the dream as I call out to get Rick's attention and try to pull him away and out of danger. There's never enough time to get away. The best option available to us is the trench that's been dug into the desert floor by the soldiers who had been using this area as a training ground before our operation had moved in.
Taking a moment to look back, I see that the gamma bomb is literally an instant from commencing its detonation test. Without thinking, I throw Rick down into the trench, where he'll hopefully be protected from the shockwave of gamma radiation. Before I can even think of following him into the ditch, the force of an exploding sun burns into my very soul as the gamma bathes every cell in my body; poisoning it, turning it into something else.
Would things have been easier if I had jumped into the trench first, and Rick had been hit with the gamma radiation instead of me? What if I had simply put a gun in my mouth during the daytime, back when the transformations only happened at sundown? All of these possibilities and more flash through my mind before the alarm in my wristwatch wakes me. It's 6:20. Five minutes before the patrolman takes his shortcut through this part of Central Park - the same shortcut he's always taken on this beat. Sure, people don't usually get arrested for sleeping on park benches, especially in New York, but I'm not going to take that chance. The last thing I need in the morning is a potential confrontation with a police officer, which could conceivably escalate into so much more.
"Welcome to The Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous," I groan as I push myself up and off of the bench. I can almost smell the coffee being brewed at the restaurant just down the street, and I look at the small bits of money that I pull out of my pocket. Sure, I'm no Tony Stark, but I finally scrounged up enough change that I won't have to scold myself for indulging in a medium sized cup of coffee. "Real coffee," I sigh and rub my beard. "I can taste it already."

Can anyone give me an update on what exactly has gone on with the X-Men corner of the universe this season? What's gone on with them post- M-Day? Is the mansion still up with the kids and all that? Any one been killed? And by X-Men Corner I pretty much mean X-Universe (X-Factor, X-Force, etc.)
I've decided to play a bit in that area using quite a few C and D listers but I don't know what's gone on and it's hard to read through all these posts looking for it.

What I can tell you is that Magneto came back, repowered. With Mystique and Toad by his side, was going to gather all the mutants that were left after M-day, and 'protect' them from the bounty thing. Mystique tries to stab Mags in the back with help from Avalanche, but he kills Avalanche and leaves Mystique tied to a tree.
He goes to the X-Mansion and stops an attack, effectively rescuing them. Some of the students see that maybe going with Magneto would be safer. This causes a rift in the X-Men, as some agree with Cyclops' decision to let the kids go with Magneto, while others strongly disagree. Magneto takes the children to Latveria, where he had a deal with Dr. Doom to provide safe haven for mutants. Cable is now in Latveria, hellbent on taking the kids back from Magneto. They are both currently fighting Doom.

We didn't want to set anything in stone for people who'd want to use the X-students later on, so we just said roughly half the students left with Magneto without naming anyone specifically.

Don't worry, I'll explain Maggott being alive in my next few posts and it actually has to do with what brought these guys all together. And the guy in the bottom right corner is Pulse. He joined the team along with Mystique during Milligan's run, helped take out Apocalypse, then vanished when Carey came on (or whichever writer came after him). He was Mystique's attempt at hooking Rogue up with someone other than Gambit, though he turned out to be a decent guy. He's a thief who prefers not to fight unless he has to and has the ability to pulse out other people's powers while he's either around them or touching them (don't remember which). Powerful enough to nullify Apocalypse at one point. He was only in maybe two arcs. The Blood of Apocalypse was the biggest one he was in.
And I considered Stacey but thought I had too large a cast to begin with. Good thing!

For the time being (and by that, I mean 'should I ever be lucky enough to get the chance to apply for them again'), I'm dropping both Captain America and Doctor Doom.
Honestly, I love the characters to death, but it takes someone who's a hell of alot more focused on this game than I have been recently to play such two big names.
I had fun writing the few posts that I made, and I know that's because of the stellar work in this RPG so far. So this isn't a 'goodbye' more than it's a 'goodbye... for now' type of scenario. At least until I can rip myself from the DC RPG's, which need my constant attention at the moment.
To those I made plans with, well... this is probably for the best. I'm sure it'll take literally no time for someone to apply for Steve and/or Victor, so don't scrap anything away yet.

Riveting stuff so far, JH. I'm really enjoying it.
Thanks. I just put up a post more focused on Layla... I'm growing to really like writing her.
I started up just to practice but I decided to go ahead with my big indepth storyline. This is just the very beginning. I'm excited about what's to come. It's going to be alongside the bounty thing without being right in the middle. I'm setting the stage for it (and it'll be a while before it really gets set) but after a while there'll be windows for other people to start joining in. The threat is most definately bigger than just Jamie's crew. For those of you who read my season 2 Madrox storyline, it's a long and indepth storyline like that one.
JewishHobbit
02-21-2009, 11:56 AM
By the way... I'm seeing a very simple way coming up here soon in my storyline that might help lead the heroes onto the track of who's behind the bounties, or at least where the money is coming from.
However, it's a divergant from where I want to take my own storyline so I'd hate to go that direction. If anyone else would like to start going that way though I can still set it up and someone else can pick up on it. It's dealing with one of my non-playable characters (not saying who yet) and I'm willing to drop the character if someone else wants to pick him up.
If not, then I'll just ignore the idea and keep moving right on with my own story. Just throwing the suggestion out there.

Character you would like to play: Batman/Bruce Wayne
Powers: Nun-chuck powers, survival powers, adept mind, general awesomeness, preptime.

Please provide a sample post in the style that you plan to write your character in (must be at least 3 paragraphs long and contain at least 1 line of dialogue):
I'm the goddamn Batman.
I wage nightly war on criminals that offend my principles because I'm a whiny douchebag who can't let my mommy and daddy die in my already ransacked subconcious. And because life is cruel to me, I make others suffer. Suffer greatly. Suffer unimaginable pain and torture until they know what it's like to lose my dog. I mean parents. Yes, parents.
I do miss my dog, though.

Robin cheers. It makes me smile. But not as much as those short-shorts he wears.

Don't worry, the only two stated as definately dead are Wraith and Slipstream. Others are just on the ground at the moment with no confirmation whether or not they're really dead, injured, etc. Oh... and yeah, Siena's dead too.
Honestly, I knew Wraith was going to die from the beginning and I was planning on Thunderbird dying as well. However, I grew to like writing Thunderbird so I killed off Slipstream instead. The others on the ground I'm still debating on. I kinda wanted one or two more killed but I've grown to like the rest of the forgotten X-Men, so chances are they're still alive. Now how alive remains to be seen.

Well, I'd like you to consider not killing any more characters. We had a little discussion on this earlier in the season and we're trying to avoid people missing out on characters they want to play. Obviously, the whole idea behind the 'Forgotten X-Men' is that they're obscure and all, but still. Heck, I had ideas for both Thunderbird and Slipstream before picking up Angel.
No offence, but I think it's just a bit of a waste to kill off characters in such manner. Your story's been nothing but awesome yet otherwise.
JewishHobbit
02-23-2009, 11:09 AM
I see. I actually picked Slipstream and Wraith because I assumed they were the characters with the least chance of anyone wanting to do anything with them, and no, I'm not planning on killing any of the others. If you still want to consider a later storyline with Slipstream I can always go back and rewrite that scene so it's not such a fatal shot and he can end up alive. Wraith is dead and I only need one death to fulfill Layla's vision. Plus... I really am a fan of Slipstream and it wasn't the easiest of decisions to kill him.
Keyser Soze
02-23-2009, 11:16 AM
I don't see any problem killing such minor characters, JewishHobbit. So long as deaths are handled with relative moderation, and enhance the story in an important way - like with your deaths - I don't think there's an issue. If someone wants to play these characters, we can cross that bridge when we come to it. With the amount of times X-characters get killed, cloned and resurrected, creatively getting around death is hardly untreaded territory.

Nah, that's all the killing I have planned at the moment, and it's impact will be felt for the immediate story but also for the large story overall throughout the rest of the season.

Honestly, if I were to play Hulk, and I've thought about it, I'd just go for the Bill Bixby TV series route. Which would kind of him take out of the standard superhero stories and be much more of a Bruce Banner story, which is what I've always found much more interesting.

I respectfully disagree that he's not that great of a character, but I can't fault anyone for feeling differently. He's one of those characters that has been given tons of potential at the very literal end of his fingertips, but every writer that tackles him outside of the early 90's focuses way too much on 'Hulk SMASH!'.
Even in The Ultimates, where Banner probably had the most potential to be given depth, he was reduced to a giant mentally challenged guy on coke screaming 'HULK KILL FREDDIE PRINZE JR.!'. :csad:

Well I'm dropping Carnage...
And here we go...!
Screen Name: Carnage27
Character you would like to play: Captain America
Powers: Enhanced strength, durability, agility and reflexes. A trained soldier, Cap is also an expert hand-to-hand combat fighter, tactician, and acrobat. His iconic shield acts as both defense and a devastating projectile.
Three reasons why you have chosen that character:
1. I love Cap's unwavering view of right and wrong. And I'm ready to step up with the big boys.
2. I feel like I could bring a lot to the Character. If nothing more, at least a fresh face.
3. Patriotism! **** YEA! And I mean I would like to be involved with the Avengers.
Write two complete sentences using proper English grammar explaining what you think you can bring to the RPG: I'm ready to step up my RPing. Also, I'd really like to interact with some players I've never dealt with before.
How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: Much more than I have been, especially once my big arc over in OU wraps up.
I'll have a sample post up tomorrow. If that's okay.

Thanks, MB. And with that I present my sample post:
The SHIELD transport touches down at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey, and I feel my stomach tie up in knots. It's been ages since I've been nervous. But from what I've heard, I'm not returning to the land of the free, and the home of the brave, but to a land in the icy rip of madness.
I've put my own missions overseas on hold in order to sure up the mainland. The safety of civilians, plus the safety of my friends
I descend down the ramp, and am saluted by an armed guard.
"Welcome home, Cap," the leader of the group says.
"At ease, boys," I reply as the guards and I get into the back of a SHIELD ground transport.
The transport starts rolling, and a screen in front of me recaps everything that's gone on the past few days, and that knot gets a little tighter. American Eagle, Microbe, and the mutant Dazzler all confirmed dead. Rumors of murdered mutant children at the Xavier Institute. On top of that, there's been huge skirmishes between heroes and villains in New York.
But there's one last thing that gives me a sliver of hope. Images of Thor, Hawk-eye, Angel, Spider-man, Iron Man, and what looks to be a reformed Avengers team fighting HYDRA agents with the Abomination outside Stark Tower. The Nazi bastards wouldn't pass up a chance like this, but it looks as if the team did a good job.
There may be hope after all...
"Captain," the driver calls back to me, "you haven't given us a destination yet."
"Stark Tower, private. It's time to see some old friends."

It doesn't technically "clean" it. It absorbs it, so you can just sweep it up, instead of actually having to use a mop.

I'll tell you guys... I'm kinda in a hard place. My original plan for Madrox's story has kinda fallen apart due to other things going on in the rpg (no one's fault, I just should have looked into it more before starting this direction). So now I'm kinda figuring out where to take the story. I'm trying to work up a similar direction with a differant story that's still true to the stuff I've already written but I don't want to stop writing while I figure it out. The small strokes can still work but the big picture is what's needing altered. That's what I'm trying to figure out.
That said, I'll still just take my time and basically make it up as I go along but if anyone likes my Madrox stuff so far and has some ideas and want to collaborate, I'm all for it.
