MRG Continuity question. Everything takes place sometime after House of M, but the current Avengers are obviously not the same Avengers. Has it been stated what became of the New Avengers that were in place as of the House of M? It'd be awesome to see you back. Just so you know, this season marked a reboot for the game. The game was dying under the old continuity, so we've started with a new Season 1 - following a post House of M/pre Civil War continuity - and have seen a big spike in activity as a result. We're back to basics in terms of story now, so jumping on should be easy.

Unfortunately this arc was intended differantly, but due to my being a late addition I didn't realize some other storylines that were going on made my story irrellevant, so I've had to change gears. So it's not as thought out as before, hopefully just fun.

Okay guys, for anyone in New York (which should be just about everyone) the new Madrox post is up and it's ending could really influence a lot of people. It's up to you how you want to play it. My original idea needing to be scrapped, I thought of this and thought... why not? So if anyone wants to jump in, go for it. I have no set future plans so it's open how you guys want to play it. Bring in any character or alternate character you feel would be fun to play with or fight, or if no one wants to play along then I'll find some way to fix it quickly, or I can keep it going the rest of the season... up to you guys. I just thought this would create a fun playing field for everyone to experiment with.

note: the two characters shown in the end were just examples of what's coming through. They're aren't necessarilly there for any more reason than that. Use them if you want, or not... up to whoever feels like following up on it. Heroes or villains... I'm just curious to see what comes of this. Hopefully you guys are cool with it.

FYI Avengers the N'Garai we are facing (and any N'Garai summoned by an Ifrit for that matter) are not your standard X-men fighting N'Garai. They are elders far more powerful than their younger counterparts.

Also just a reminder for everyone an Ifrit (despite any appearances to the contrary) is a universal threat. Each single Ifrit is more than a match for Odinpowered Thor and the only thing keeping us alive is the rules set by the LT that forbid the Ifrit from battling us directly (and vice versa) hence the empowering of mortals and the summoning of N'Garai.

I'm actually getting slim on time myself and kinda want to drop Madrox so I can focus on the other stuff I have going on but I don't want to leave the story I've started opened. I figure I'll start working toward concluding my part of it and then I'll probably be quitting too. I knew my time would be tight but I at least got to put some stories into play.

As for the alternate realities storyline... I'll leave it up to you guys. When I conclude it (or anyone really, I have no plans at the moment) do we want all the alternate characters sent back or leave them in the main 616? There could be some interesting stories that could include some alternate characters. Plus, if anyone wants to play as an alternate version of a character then this could give them that chance.

My research has taken a positive turn. While comparing the X-Gene of a mutant unharmed by the events of "M-Day" (Subject #3456) and the X-Gene of a mutant affected by the events (Subject #7788), I noticed something rather interesting. The chromosomes appear to be frayed on the end of the mutant affected. Could this possibly a burn-out due to Scarlet Witch's cry of "No more mutants"? Does this mean that, with time, the chromosomes shall repair themselves and send the mutant population thriving once again?

Whatever the reason for the cause, I shall continue to investigate further over what exactly caused the decrease in the mutant population, and how to reverse it.

I must figure out exactly why. If not for science, but for my fellow mutants.

Powers: Murdock was blinded as a youth when his eyes came into contact with high levels of radioactive waste. The waste essentially "short-circuited" his optic nerve, permanently blinding the boy. However, his other four senses (touch, taste, smell, and hearing for those of you who didn't pass fourth grade the first few times) function at unparalleled levels. The muscles in his body grew stronger, giving him strength and agility comparable to that of an Olympic grade athlete. Three reasons why you have chosen that character:

1. Daredevil is a really compelling character. He's fun to play as and fun to write.

2. Daredevil somewhat stereotypical. He's a character whose father was taken from him and, as a result, he fights crime on a day to day basis. In that way, he's Marvel's equivalent of Batman. And, what's more, as tempting as it may be to pick up a psychotic villain, or a character who is somewhat "off the beaten path," Matthew is interesting to me in that I can pick him up and just keep the stories simple.

3. The issue of Matthew's faith will often come up in the stories I write. As an atheist, I think I can bring a unique perspective on the character's hesitation to immerse his vigilante alter ego into his faith.

Sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell. These are the five senses of the human body; these are the five tools which human beings have been given by Mother Nature and natural selection to help them survive in this chaotic, unforgiving world. Five basic abilities built into the human genome, all of which are critical for survival.

Matthew Michael Murdock lacks one of them: sight. At a young age, he lost his ability to see in a freak encounter with radioactive waste. Nurtured by his alcoholic father, Murdock learned that, in life, things aren't always easy, and the world isn't always kind.

His father taught him to be fearless; to never stop fighting for what he wanted or believed in. His brashness and quick temper earned Matthew the name "Daredevil" when he was ridiculed by his classmates.

1944 - Normandy

The tiny beads of water splash on my face, stinging my skin. I clench my teeth and squint into the night sky. In the distance, the sun has just begun to rise over France. It won't be up before we hit the beach. Scratching my chin, I notice the five-o-clock shadow I've been growing. It seems like forever since I've had a clean shower and a warm shower. My outfit is grimy and sodden. The once brilliant blues and reds are now just ghosts of what they used to be. Even they have been hardened by this godforsaken war.

I look at my men. Some are silent, others twitchy. One soldier is puking over the starboard side of the boat. My eyes are drawn to another soldier, desperately clutching a rosary. I linger on him for a while before looking to my immediate right at Bucky. He's so quiet. It's not like him. He doesn't even acknowledge me. He just stares straight ahead.

The salty air is rifled with the smell of urine. The silent is only interrupted by the deep, powder-filled coughs of anxious men. They have every right to be. When we hit the shore, half of 'em are dead. Bang. Just like that. The thought makes me clutch onto my shield. I've never lost a man in my company. Never. Often, I joke with Bucky that it's the only reason he's still alive. But this morning is not one for jokes.

"I hope you boys came ready to kill some Krauts today," I remark solemnly. In the approaching distance, the first shots ring out.

Hey guys...this looks pretty interesting. I might turn in an application tomorrow, after I get a look at what's what. I did notice on the first page, it looked like everyone and their character wasn't named, like JH having Madrox. (Or, maybe I'm just blind.)

I do have a question: Is the goal of the thing to interact with the other stories, or do you just have your own adventure, and if you feel like showing up in other ones...or someone gets into yours, it can happen.

But yeah, the point of this thing is to have fun. Tell your stories the way you want to. You can get as many people involved in a storyline as you want, or you can solo it. The choice is up to you! Oh, and make sure nobody gets peeved if you use their character without their permission.

Yeah, you want to make sure a character you plan on using isn't tied up in another storyline, dead, or away for whatever reason.

Also, the game will keep on going until it dies. It almost died before, but a reboot sparked interest and brought it back to life. So, right now there is no forseeable end, just like the comics.

The graveyard was not immaculate or grandeous in any way. It would be considered quite small by many people's standards; yet, it seemed much too large for those who frequented it. It was well-kept, none of the flowers left beside the tombstones wilting away to nothing; and, like today, was visited often. It was a place for rememberance. Quite a few of the graves didn't even house any remains; for, in this line of work, many times a body is unable to be found. Also, families preferred to have their loved ones brought home; and, this was just a means to grieve and remember those lost to a much larger family.

"I miss you so much," the young gal said. On her knees, she wasn't talking to just one tombstone. She had lost too many loved ones: Banshee, Jay Guthrie, Moira MacTaggert, Madelyne Pryor, Jean Grey. But, today as with most days, her focus was on two of her greatest friends: Illyana Rasputin and Douglas Ramsey.

"No matter how much times passes, the pain never eases. Why must so many of our enemies continue to come back, time after time again, yet you two...ones I love the most...still are lost to me."

Kitty remembered how excited she was when she first joined the X-Men. It wasn't the foes of the X-Men that frightened her; it was some of the newer members, namely Wolverine and Nightcrawler. It was here she had her first crush, Colossus. It was here she had her heart broken....same guy. She never counted on the loss. Heck, when Jean died, it felt like the rarest of things. Heroes never died!

Kitty didn't notice at first the figure behind her. He appeared out of nowhere; but, after all the years of fighting so many villians, or being hunted by those who hated you simply for the fact you're born different than them, you develop an almost sixth sense when something is out of place. Becoming intangible, she quickly turned around, posed to strike...or flee, if it seemed the better of the two options.

Whoever she expected to find, this wasn't even on the list of possibilities. Hell, she was even left out of the first War! It was because of this bastard that her life, the personal one that could have been so different...that could have been filled with love...was thrown into upheaval so many years ago. She's thought...NO! She's DREAMED of what could have been if not for this man!!!

"YOU SON OF A *****!" she screamed.

With a wave of his hand, she froze solid. He simply said, "forgive me, child; but, I'm here to bestow on you your greatest wish. It's just up to you how badly you want it."

Should we know who that was or are you building to it? I've only read about 12 to 14 issues of Iron Man my whole life (and his stuff in the Avengers comics post Disassembled) so I'm not familiar with any of his adversaries or past adventures. I remember something about a young version of himself taking over but I don't know the actual story, curious if that has something to do with it.

Also, will you need help in any way? Now that Jamie's laid out his plan to fixing the alternate reality issue, he can't really do much toward building the machine so him and his little squadron of random heroes are free to help out if needed.

The timeline for this rpg starts shortly after House of M, so Kitty is still with the X-Men and perfectly fine. You may want to check some previous X-Men storylines though to see what's been done with them so you can write accordingly. Being a late comer myself someone else may want to fill you in.

However, some big things going on right now just so you know... someone (Red Skull I think) has placed a bounty on the head of superheros. There's certain prices per groupings and X-Men are one of those groupings (you can find the post on the first page or two of the in character thread) so that's still going on. And currently Madrox's story has unleashed a ton of alternate realities on New York so there's chaos amongst the confusion as parts of new york are transforming to the Age of Apocalypse, 2099, etc. and their characters are running amok in confusion (including people like Maestro, Fallen from Mutant X, Apocalypse from the AoA, and probably a hundred others). Madrox, Loki, and Magneto are working on correcting the problem though, so that will be over soon.

Oh, and aparently Sabretooth is a major crime lord.

And one thing that might help you out from now on. With Kitty's speech. Try to color code it like everyone else does. It helps tell the difference between characters if you have a good many of them in the same scene.

Yeah, there are enough clues that it's not that big of a mystery.

The thing that was a pain in the butt, I have so many places to go with this, that most of the night, I couldn't sleep. I found myself thinking about all the characters who've lost loved ones in the MU...who to use...and, trying to think of bad guys who have lost people too. (I had a great idea with Red Skull; but, he's in that big storyline right now.) Anyway, if I wasn't thinking about it, I found myself dreaming of thinking about it. Finally, I had to get up at 2:00 AM, and I watched a movie, called "Happy-Go-Lucky" for a couple hours.

Now, I'm tired, though.

Thanks again, Byrd. BTW, Gallagher did use Beast for a while in his early posts. He was one of the X-Men thinking Magneto taking care of the children at the mansion might not be that bad of an idea. (I'm only on page 8, though; but, I haven't seen Beast mentioned for a while now.)

As for Mystique...it would seem she was last seen in a forest, right after Magneto killed off Avalanche. Luckily for me, he let her live.

Powers: Hercules possesses the typical powers of an Olympian, including superhuman speed, durability, and reflexes. His primary power is his superhuman physical strength; Hercules is physically the strongest of all Olympians. Ok, I have finished the opening sequence of my storyline. I will say I have no idea who will end up winning the contest; and, if anyone wants to get involved, I have no problem with that. If someone just wants to pop in, kill off some character and be done with it, that's cool too. (I've left it open to who all the characters on the island are, only naming about 10, I think; the only prerequisite is they have to be someone who hasn't really achieved the fullest extent of their powers and someone who has suffered a great loss in their past.)

Also, as any characters I am using will return to normal after all is done and finished; feel free to use anyone I mention in other storylines in this thread. (Just know, what happens during the contest won't be determined for a while; so, they might have someone from their past return to life.)

Originally, I planned to use a few heavy hitters; but, most of those characters are taken. Then, the idea of "not achieving the fullest potential of your powers" occurred to me. That left it wide open to really scour the B-list of the Marvel Universe and learn a bit more about characters I didn't know about. (For example, the Kraven the Hunter portion wasn't that known to me. I didn't remember he was a mutant, and completely forgot about the whole "Beyond" storyline he was involved in.) Also, I was originally planning on a major villian being Red Skull, cause I thought he'd try and bring back Hitler. Now, I'm thinking Kraven can be made really, really interesting, especially since I had Beyonder turn him over to his wild side immediately.

MARVEL RPG SEASON VII Application For New Players

Character you would like to play: Helmut Zemo, 13th Baron Zemo

Powers: After the "Born Better" miniseries Helmut no longer posesses the moonstones (I'm not entirely sure whereabouts the continuity of this RPG starts, however). Zemo's incredibly intellectual with good tactical and leadership skills, he is also well trained in hand to hand skills however mainly relies on the large wealth of technology in his posession.

Three reasons why you have chosen that character:

1. Helmut's an interesting character - he's still trying to find out who he is, his father taught him that Zemo's were superior to everybody else because of who they were and for a long time he believed that. But last time we saw him he had begun to question that, it's a great place to pick up the character.

2. I think everybody can sympathize with Zemo slightly, despite the fact he has and probably will continue to do terrible things to get his own way, everyone comes to a point in their life when they start to question who they are. Helmut decides his own role in life - at times he can be the brilliant tactician that's saving the world, at others the supervillain that's endangering it because of his own short-sightedness.

3. He rocks the pink mask like it's going out of style. Heck, he might think he's better than every single human being on the face of the planet who doesn't have Zemo blood running through their veins, but he's a modern man - you've got to give him that.

A book with little meaning to me once said "the sins of the father shall be visited upon the sons" and like many sons I am still paying for my father's. However not many sons had fathers like mine: Heinrich Zemo - Nazi war criminal, sworn enemy of Captain America.

Powers: Toxin, the symbiote offspring of Carnage, possesses the abilities of his two predecessors; He can stick to walls, can change shape into a different person, and also has unlimited webbing, which takes on a shape of thick red and blue tendrils.Toxin can also blend in with his surroundings extremely effectively, and he can form solid weapons from his limbs like his father. Toxin also has a healing factor like his predecessors. Unlike the others, Toxin can track anyone, not just other symbiotes, as long as he has something to pick up a scent. Another difference is that Toxin, while dependent upon it's host, does not appear to have bonded with him. In fact, Toxin and Patrick Mulligan will often converse while in their human form. He has also been shown to overpower Venom and Carnage, both at once.

1. He's a criminally underrated character.

2. The powers of Venom and Carnage, murderous in their nature, but with the mind of a child behind it. It'll be interesting to get into.

I think making the sample post optional was a huge mistake, and is a policy that should never have been put in place. It's a great tester in deciding whether or not to go through with an app. If you can't summon up the passion to do a character post for a sample in an app, how will you be able to summon it up for regular IC posting?

Hey Spike I'm all for interaction and normally I wouldn't mind at all. But this actually a critical point in my story so if you could hold off for a bit (and edit the existing post) that would be great.

I wrote it so that Jamie passed out after he extended his dupe creating abilities. It's always reason to believe that the portal powered down before all the alternate reality characters were sucked back in.

Character you would like to play: Carnage (Cletus Kasady)

Powers: He has the same powers as Venom, whom of which has the same powers of Spider-Man as well as the symbiote's natural shapeshifting abilities. As a symbiote, Carnage is vulnerable to both sonics and fire.

1. As his name suggests, I want to cause some bloody carnage.

2. I have plans for Carnage that'll lead into the rebirth of a dead characeter whom of which I wish to play afterwards.
