Just starting a thread for people to come and learn about new artist from people with common musical interest

I like a lot of Folksie type stuff.

Ray Lamontagne is AMAZING. If you like fantastic lyrics and a comforting voice, you have to check him out. All three albums are great.

he's quite phenomenal live. his newest album (self titled) is solid, but its his previous albums that really stand out to me. here's a blog that has them all for download:

Thank you sir.

Damien Rice is quite popular these days. Fantastic nonetheless. Check him out if you have not already.

Damien Rice is good. I liked Cannonball alot even though it was over played too much in the UK when it came out.

Mr Squirrel. How goes it?

The Avetts are a Gem of wonderous proportions.

Have you checked out that weird concoction of Sean Watkins and the Switchfoot guy?

I haven't not heard of last.fm but I have found pandora to be quite enjoyable. You can put in a particular song you like or a band or even just a genre. It takes information from the songs you like ( by approving each song it plays or rejecting it) and then plays similar things. Pretty sweet.
