What else is it up for? Supporting actor and costume design? I'd say a pretty good chance that Iron Man or Button will take costume and it will only get supporting
There are five left....looking at Oscar.com. It won't win cinematography...that's for sure. I think Iron Man deserves Visual Effects, plus they got to give Robert Downey Jr's crew....something. Sound Editting and Soudn Mixing...are very small chances......

It'll get Best Supporting Actor. I think that really is a clinch. If the performance hadn't have been that great I could see this not giving it to Ledger, but despite what the haters say, it really was. Easily better then anyone else on that list.
Downey Jr. could pull off an upset too.
In a perfect world.
Though I think if anyone will pull off the upset it is Hoffman. Though I doubt it'll happen.

Compare TDK's use of light to Slumdog's. Slumdog was beautiful, regardless of the type of film it used. Slumdog earned it. It was one of the most beautifully shot movies I've ever seen...and I seldom recognize the technical achievments...yet I couldn't help but be in awe of Slumdog.

They may be crying, but at least they aren't wallowing in the fecal matter of a good at best movie that'll be well forgotten in a year's time:yay:
So, you guys don't think Ledger would get nominated if he were alive? Why, just because he was in a comic book movie? I know it is rare, but when such a stellar performance happens sometimes the Academy can reach outside the norm. Hopkins in Silence and Weaver in Aliens (both won I believe). If RDJ can be nominated for Tropic Thunder then I doubt it would've been a stretch to see Ledger at least nominated

Especially since he got screwed for Brokeback:yay:
okay...

Moving on...
That's why Jackman was missing. He was warming up for his next big number.
This is absurd. This is not the Tonies. There were what? Two musicals this year? This is becoming exactly what I predicted it would be when Jackman was announced. A Hollywood ego-fest. The comedians hosting serve a very particular purpose. To take everyone down a notch and keep it grounded. Jackman is doing exactly the opposite.

Maybe. Because you KNOW that once that award is handed out, most of the people watching will change the channel.

I think the Broadway-like performances are pretty good...nice touch. Plus, having Beyonce in a tight outfit is never a bad decision.

That would be a crime, too. Probably even over Legder getting beat. Rourke was way better then Penn. Penn was good, but nothing even close to Rourke.

Because it's not a good movie and the fact it's up for Best Pic is a dammed shame if you ask me. Winslet and the main actor are the only thing award worthy in the least in that movie.

Penn or Rourke? Both did great jobs in their films, but I would have to give it to Penn, even though I hate what has become of the 'political/personal' aspect of the film Milk.
Rourke did a great job, but I have to say it really didn't take much acting for him to fit into the role. That's good and bad when it comes to claiming credit for being an actor.
So really...I don't care. As long as one of those two win, it's all good..but I'm pulling for Rourke...but the 'political/personal' people responsible for the Oscars are going to pick Penn.

Gonna have to disagree with you there about Rourke. You're right for sure, it did mirror Rourke's career and his life more then we like to think, but he became the Ram and put a level of intensity to that role that most actors only strive for.
Penn did a good job, as he always does, but that is it. I really have a hard time believing that someone can look at those two roles and subjectively say Penn was better.
I respect who Penn played and the message he was trying to convey, but if he wins, he'll win only because he played that.
Or someone really hates Mickey Rourke
