Compare TDK's use of light to Slumdog's. Slumdog was beautiful, regardless of the type of film it used. Slumdog earned it. It was one of the most beautifully shot movies I've ever seen...and I seldom recognize the technical achievments...yet I couldn't help but be in awe of Slumdog.

Penn or Rourke? Both did great jobs in their films, but I would have to give it to Penn, even though I hate what has become of the 'political/personal' aspect of the film Milk.

Rourke did a great job, but I have to say it really didn't take much acting for him to fit into the role. That's good and bad when it comes to claiming credit for being an actor.

So really...I don't care. As long as one of those two win, it's all good..but I'm pulling for Rourke...but the 'political/personal' people responsible for the Oscars are going to pick Penn.

Gonna have to disagree with you there about Rourke. You're right for sure, it did mirror Rourke's career and his life more then we like to think, but he became the Ram and put a level of intensity to that role that most actors only strive for.

Penn did a good job, as he always does, but that is it. I really have a hard time believing that someone can look at those two roles and subjectively say Penn was better.

I respect who Penn played and the message he was trying to convey, but if he wins, he'll win only because he played that.
