Batman swaps places with Owlman -- his criminal counterpart in an alternate Universe -- to stop the Crime Syndicate from taking over the world.

http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/0902/20/index.htm
Warner Bros. Animation has released a description, clip and 33 images from a two-part episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold on Cartoon Network.

"Deep Cover for Batman!" kicks off the two-parter on Friday, March 6, with "Game Over for Owlman!" concluding the story on Friday, March 13.

Here's how Warner Bros.. describes the episodes:

"When parallel worlds collide, Batman swaps places with Owlman -- his criminal counterpart in an alternate universe -- to stop the Crime Syndicate from taking over their world. Crime fighters in one world must battle their evil counterparts in a crime spree melee. Meanwhile back on Earth, Owlman has been perpetrating crimes disguised as Batman and assembled all the villains to join him. When Batman returns, he finds himself on the wrong side of the law and hunted by Green Lantern, Aquaman, Blue Beetle, Red Tornado and Plastic Man. Itıs a strange twist of fate that leaves Batman with only one option - to team up with Joker and take Owlman and the Crime Syndicate down!"

The voice cast includes Diedrich Bader as Batman/Owlman, Jeff Bennett as Red Hood/The Joker, James Sie as Dyna-Mite, Corey Burton as Red Tornado/Silver Cyclone, Will Friedle as Blue Beetle/Scarlet Scarab and James Arnold Taylor as Green Arrow/Blue Bowman.

The story was written by Joseph Kuhr, and the episodes were directed by Michael Chang and Ben Jones.
Airing: February 27
--------------------------
I think this may be the first 'official' appearance for the CSA, not accouting for the appeaances of comparable groups in the old SuperFriends shows or the Justice Lords in JLU.

Yeah, it's refreshing for a bit of change. Like occasionally having a calzone after eating pizza for a while.

Yes, I compared the show to a calzone. It works, it's full of cheese but good nonetheless.

I'm actually pretty excited about this one. I heard Robin's showing up in one or both of the parts. That fo' real? If so, I'm even more interested. I wonder if they're gonna do the bare-leg, pixie boots version? :hehe:

Why wouldn't they use the classic Robin?Because most versions of the last twenty years have avoided it like the plague?

There's nothing wrong with it for this silver age take, I wasn't saying that at all. I'd love to see it, given the context of this show. I'm just wondering if they'll actually do it or update to be a little more in line with the Tim Drake costume, is all.

SuperFerret

True, I keep forgetting that they use newer characters too. To be honest, it's Ollie that confuses me, seeing him clean shaven makes me think it's not a modern portrayal of the DCU.

I understand why, I prefer it over this style, but I hope eventually Marvel and DC animation get a more comic look. But I really like this show regardless I mean where else do you get this much Guy Gardner. Also I really liked the Blue Beetle stuff I'd love it if that great new character with the canceled book could get some sort of spin off show(but he won't poor Jaimé)

You're close That Gotham by Gaslight Batman is actually a pirate batman from a short series. That mechanical one is from a short lived comic as well but I can't remember which.

Nice idea for Batman and Joker to team up. Shame no batvillains except him and clock king. More info here: http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/0902/20/index.htm

The preview info I pulled from Comics Continuum, which is direct from WB Animation/Cartoon Network, says this ep is scheduled for March 6. However, my cable guide has it listed for this coming Friday. Needless to say, I hope it's the latter.

I think the old description was that Robin would aid Batman, but it seems it was all along the Joker. =D Btw what is Robin's silver age origin story? Will we see him as a circus kid whos parents get killed? This show was allowed to show Bruce's origin so i'm certain they can show 2 adults falling to their deaths.

Mister J

Indeedy. Wiki has changed their format, so I can't access it the same way, but there were outside links pointing to Robin (I believe in the teaser), as well as the Riddler mention. Although, I can't be positive of which ep of the two-parter either correlates to the two-parter.

If what you say is true and Robin doesn't appear in the ep (probably for the best considering how many other characters are included) then I do hope he appears with his origin in real time. That would make Batman's comment about Green Arrow being "person he's most happy to have by his side" ring better, and it'd be nice to see Robin brought in.

Why wouldn't Joker help is the better question. Joker doesn't hate Batman, and he only wants to kill him on his own terms, sometimes not at all. Joker is essentially Batman's biggest fan, why wouldn't he be angry at an impersonator?

That was a real treat last night.

I liked all the homages/Easter Eggs here; Infinite Earths, New Frontier, Challenge of the Superfriends, the 60's show Batcave entrance, the Red Hood/Joker origin and the "I'm Batman" reference that's become part of the mythos since Keaton's utterance in 1989. There were probably a few that I missed or just don't recall right now, but I was grinning throughout he entire viewing.

I like what they did with the Injustice Syndicate, with the notable highlight on Blue Bowman (you just know Batman enjoyed smacking him around a little more than the others :woot:), Scarlet Scarab and Silver Cyclone. The role reversal there was good way to tie in numerous of the heroes and villains that have appeared so far in the series. It makes me look forward to how the versions in Batman's home world will respond next week. Great action in that last sequence too.

The conclusing episode shapes up exactly as you think it would, with Batman out to clear his name. A worthy cap on a most enjoyable first season. Can't wait.

In the teaser, Red Hood attempts to use a dimensional device to send a message to Batman, but Injustice Syndicate members Owlman, Blue Bowman, Scarlet Scarab, and Silver Cyclone steal the device and beat up Red Hood, who manages to get away. The hero was badass in the teaser, but I'll get to that in the main episode.

In the main episode, we see Batman in Gotham City, heading home to his Bat-Cave after foiling The Riddler. However, he's forced to fight Owlman, who entered the cave through the device, and later imprisions him and takes his costume to travel to the other dimension and infiltrate the Injustice Syndicate. The Syndicate was well-written. I liked Owlman's design, probably my only favorite out of the alternate heroes we've seen. The rest of the Syndicate's designs were kinda dull. Just re-colorings. Their personalities were good though. I especially got a kick out of the Brainiac-like Cyclone, and the fact that Scarab was such a little psychopath. Liked his line about his "true heart of a hero".

Red Hood is one of the more interesting heroes we've seen for a while. He's the good version of the Joker. Disfigured and insane, but still determined to end crime. Jeff Bennett does a great job with him. The heroic versions of the villains were also re-colored, but at least Dr. Polaris and Black Manta were made to look like Red Tornado and Aquaman a bit. Creative.

Favorite bits in here include Scarlet Scarab's psychosis, the universe full of zombies, Batman's funhouse mirror of EVIL! comment, and the obligatory "I'm Batman" moment. Possibly the best out of the series, and part two looks more promising. Bring on The Joker!

NEXT WEEK: Hunted by the authorities and his superhero friends, Batman discovers that Owlman escaped while he was in the alternate universe, and has comitted crimes disguised as Batman. Now, Batman is forced to fight the police and his friends and team up with his hated enemy, The Joker, in order to stop Owlman and his army of supervillains.

I liked the fact that they went all multiverse this week. I'd say this episode is the one for the naysayers if they can't watch this and get the awesomeness of this show then they never will. Everything the show is good for this episode had from awesome action sequences to brilliant animation and a suprisingly engaging team up. I seriously did not expect Red Hood to be as cool as he was, talk about a character I'd love to see not just in this series again but in the comics as well.

I loved that they never showed him in all his "Jokerness" the only beef I had was Silver Cyclone. I thought the way Red Tornado has been handled on this series is kinda week and seeing his doppleganger have such a large role was equally dull. I'd have preferred the evil Aquaman in his place. Still though one of the top episodes for the season so far which is saying something cause there have been quite a few solid episodes this rookie season.

Next week's conclusion should be interesting and should finally get those who disliked this show cause all they know about the DCU is Batman's little corner of it to enjoy this with the rest of us due to the batvillains.

I actually thought after this episode that it would be awesome to read a comic about Red Hood fighting Owlman.

I liked the way they portrayed him. It seemed like a poor James Bond with a kind of sly controlled sense of humor.
