it was okay. the music didn't help imo, but the editing was definitely well done. didn't really like the shot of Goku and Piccolo in the air though, bad wire-fu. Yamcha's flying Humvee actually looks pretty damn cool, definitely makes the movie feel more fantastical. i'm still not diggin' Piccolo's armor costume, but Marsters definitely has presence. i wish i could say the same for Chatwin. also, was it just me or did the shot of the rising tower that Piccolo and Mai stand on remind anyone of Mortal Kombat? not saying it's a bad thing.

All did a bang up job. That trailer looked great. Nice eye candy! And my (and Star's) complaint from the last trailer that it looked like 7 different films no longer applies. Everything looks consistent. James Wong created a visually exciting world. I love how the color of the sky reflects the mood of each scene.

And it just looks so fantastical.

But I beg the question, why the hell wouldn't blue hair fit in that world? It looks like it most certainly could. :huh:

Maybe it wouldn't be. My buddy is a photography major, we studied in high school together, and we learned (then and now) that sometimes an odd color in a place where people aren't used to seeing odd colors can throw them off. Green or red skies are easily accepted because you can actually see those colors on occasion.

Some colors are difficult for the eyes to register together. Other colors can end up being washed out in the background or foreground. So seeing her blue hair up against a blue sky might cause them to sort of blend. Or if it's against a red background it looks too awkward.

It's NOT ALWAYS the case, but it generally is. It'd be a risky choice to make for a film that's inevitably going to be under a great deal of scrutiny, so the filmmakers took a safer route. I can't blame them. It's a bold sacrifice, but it might be worth it, visually, in the long run.

You've answered you own question. There should be a contrast between the foreground and the background. One vivid color on top of another is harder to process and takes away from the shot. I won't say that's always the case, I'm sure there's plenty of examples to debunk that. But I can't help but too imagine Bulma with blue hair against a vivid, blue background and not being able to process the top of her head. :hehe:

Blue hair would actually look better in a dark film. I.e., Joker's green hair and purple coat or any scene in Sin City.

Let's not get too ahead of ourselves. We've only seen an eye and part of a brow. The skin, fur and eye seem to be there. But they still might have made other changes. He may look more like a werewolf than a monkey. I wouldn't mind that though.

I agree, it's pretty much dark overall which I don't think really fits in with the Dragonball universe. The trailer is an improvement on the previous one though. Still not convinced that it'll be any good though.

The trailer looks dark for two reasons. One is it is in crappy quality, wait for an Apple QuickTime HD release. And the other reason is the eclipse is a big theme in this film so if the eclipse is dawning or has just gone then the sky and such would appear dark.

The trailer is good, I like it but just too short! This is the type of stuff for a teaser trailer. I just hope Fox release another trailer but let it be around 2 minutes long or a bit more longer. And instead of a full on action trailer let it have a plot. Have some scenes where you kind of understand who the characters are and what their purposes in the film are then deliver the action. Most full final trailers follow that route of having some story at the beginning, then action and ending the trailer with a jaw dropping scene.

Even though I don't like how the film has been handeled, at least it visually looks good. And I like the song. Still hate some character portrayals, and that's not likely going to change. So far James Marsters as Piccolo seems to be the best thing about the Movie.

Well i think the new trailer is great, the backgrounds and visuals look straight from the anime, it seems to look a lot bigger in scope now, the music fits perfectly.

Still a bit dissapointed that we really haven't seen much of Yamcha in action through all these trailers though.

Also i agree it would be nice to see a bit more dialogue we've hardly seen anyone string a sentence together yet.

Still looking foward to it though :)

I asked why Bulma didn't have blue hair earlier, and someone said they couldn't find a quality blue wig in time, and dyeing can ruin a woman's hair. I don't think it has anything to do with improving the movie's visuals, as others have speculated.

I was thinking the same thing. When's Fox going to release a full-length trailer? DBE comes out in April so they're cutting it close. On the plus side, the visuals have improved immensely since the first trailer, when it looked like a Power Rangers movie. And at least we know more fantasy elements have found their way into the film. My excitement is rising for this.

It took me forever, but here are two other variations. Tried for an eternity to adjust contrast and brightness, to get a better look at the Dragon, but whaveter I did turned out too bright looking. So I just left them how they were.

If I would have to describe it, I'd say the D-Wars Dragon has more of a regal presence. I mean, it looks almost 100% like Shenlong. While the DB:E Dragon has a much more vicious look.

It think I'm going to just look at this movie as "Ultimate Dragonball" in relation to the way marvel does it's Ultimates continuity and roll with the punches. I did really like the trailer tho.

After watching the comments in comingsoon and in the home page of this site, I have come to the conclusion this movie will do not well in the USA. It seems people in the USA:

Fans: Think this is DBZ, they dont like this because there is no Super Saiyan, no Vegeta and Piccolo doesnt have a white cape (apparently they dont know what Dragonball was, yet they call themselves "true fans").
Non Fans: Japanese anime is considered weird and dumb, while their comics is considered great. (In my opinion both are great)

Anything that is shown in trailers for this movie will be labeled as "crap" "****" "stupid" "power rangerish" "epic fail", etc. No matter how great and awesome it looks, they will always bash this movie. I can see this movie being teared down in many critics websites. Probably 40% on rotten tomatoes due to the fact that this is just a "kiddie dumb japanese anime based movie that sucked too much". Critics who feel this movie needs 70% will just rate it 50% just because of the non stop bashing. Even some haters who will end up liking this movie, will never admit it and will keep saying this movie was bad.

This last trailer is REALLY REALLY GREAT. I mean come on what the hell do you guys want? Seriously, whats wrong with these people?.

The very people praising the 30 seconds GI Joe trailer (which was nice but no better than this DB trailer) are the same ones bashing this trailer.

No, I'm comparing 22 Frames of the DBE Trailer with the 22 Frames I took from D-Wars. And all I'm doing is judging and comparing designs.

And your actor examples are something completely different. I mean, seriously, we're talking about a CGI Dragon here. There's no reason why they couldn't have made him look like the manga.

Heck, they've pulled another Mutenroshi on us. They took a design everybody knows and is used to and revamped it completely. It has an elongated body and that's where similarities end.

The shape of the head, the horns, the snout, everything is different.

Not really. The characters seem to be toned down as a means of contrasting the visually over-the-top world. Which is sort of cool and fits the theme Wong was going for.

Also, the problem with blue hair is that it stands out A LOT. As a photographer, I learned that giving your subject some really unique feature takes away from the subject. That's not always the case, but for an action flick it could hurt more than help.

An even bigger problem is how it shows up on screen. The foreground, generally, should contrast the background (again, that's not always the case). If you've got Bulma with blue hair against a vivid blue sky, the top of her head is going to be washed out. Or if it's against a red background it's going to be too difficult for the eyes to process. It'd be different for say, blue jeans because the mind is accustomed to seeing blue jeans in various places. The same can't be said for blue hair. So you just end up with a viewer who misunderstands, or misses completely, an entire scene because he or she was too busy trying to figure out why Bulma looks so awkward in that shot.

I'm not saying her hair is perfect. I would've preferred something darker. But I'm glad they took a safer route.

Oh, I'm saying all of this mumbo jumbo under the assumption you mean blue as in a vibrant blue.

Like someone else mentioned before, Xmen1, TF1, Terminator1, etc, had low-normal budgets in their first movies. Once they became a success, their budgets were raised for the second films.

Im pretty sure this DB movie will be a success and then we will have a bigger budget DB movie sequel. The best thing is that the sequel will be about the Saiyan/Vegeta Saga, and trust me thats where the story of DB gets MORE interesting... way more.

Now GI Joe, I have only seen 30 seconds of it, so I cant give a good opinion about it. But this last DB trailer convinced me that this movie looks much better IN MY OPINION than Gi Joe and Watchmen (being them in their first films too).

Seriously this last trailer has shown that this is not a generic common movie, this trailer shows that this movie will be VERY ORIGINAL, something non-fans will enjoy. Unfortunately, some fans (the negative ones) will be watching this movie trying to compare each part and each detail with the anime, and unfortunately for them, they wont enjoy it this way. But the general audience, the regular movie-goers WILL enjoy it.

About Kung Fu Hustle, I liked that film, but I wouldnt want DB to follow that style. I like this serious/unique style this movie is going. I know DB had a lot of comedy in the anime, but it also had action and a story. If this went the Kung Fu Hustle route, then this would be only a comedic movie that most people would have considered dumb. Think about it, if this movie gets a sequel, the tone of the sequel would have to be changed to dramatic/action/with a bit of comedy (if you have seen DBZ, you would know this). So the Kung Fu Hustle way would be too confusing. Going from total comedy to dramatic/action would seem weird.

This movie is looking very good with each new trailer and each new news is released.

Also this movie (according to Jappo) will have super speed fighting too. According to him, in one scene, the debris falling in the background will look all slow, but Goku and Piccolo will be fighting in normal/fast speed (so our eyes can see whats happening in that particular action scene) as an indication that they are fighting in super fast speed. Thats something new (at least for me) and another indication that this movie will have original and unique scenes, this movie in no way is a generic trash like most of the haters kept crying months before.

In the scale of 1 to 10, I would say this movie is a 7 in terms of big budget. But thats because its the first movie. Like someone else mentioned before, Xmen1, TF1, Terminator1, etc, had low-normal budgets in their first movies. Once they became a success, their budgets were raised for the second films.

You have to understand that studios never give super budgets ($ 200+ mill of today´s money*) to first parts. Im pretty sure this DB movie will be a success and then we will have a bigger budget DB movie sequel. The best thing is that the sequel will be about the Saiyan/Vegeta Saga, and trust me thats where the story of DB gets MORE interesting... way more.

Now GI Joe, I have only seen 30 seconds of it, so I cant give a good opinion about it. But this last DB trailer convinced me that this movie looks much better IN MY OPINION than Gi Joe and Watchmen (being them in their first films too).

Seriously this last trailer has shown that this is not a generic common movie, this trailer shows that this movie will be VERY ORIGINAL, something non-fans will enjoy. Unfortunately, some fans (the negative ones) will be watching this movie trying to compare each part and each detail with the anime, and unfortunately for them, they wont enjoy it this way. But the general audience, the regular movie-goers WILL enjoy it.

* $ 200+ mil today was probably $ 80 mil 10-20 years ago.

About Kung Fu Hustle, I liked that film, but I wouldnt want DB to follow that style. I like this serious/unique style this movie is going. I know DB had a lot of comedy in the anime, but it also had action and a story. If this went the Kung Fu Hustle route, then this would be only a comedic movie that most people would have considered dumb. Think about it, if this movie gets a sequel, the tone of the sequel would have to be changed to dramatic/action/with a bit of comedy (if you have seen DBZ, you would know this). So the Kung Fu Hustle way would be too confusing. Going from total comedy to dramatic/action would seem weird.

This movie is looking very good with each new trailer and each new news is released.

Also this movie (according to Jappo) will have super speed fighting too. According to him, in one scene, the debris falling in the background will look all slow, but Goku and Piccolo will be fighting in normal/fast speed (so our eyes can see whats happening in that particular action scene) as an indication that they are fighting in super fast speed. Thats something new (at least for me) and another indication that this movie will have original and unique scenes, this movie in no way is a generic trash like most of the haters kept crying months before.

Im really looking foward to this movie. The good thing about the haters is that they are lowering people´s expectations and when people actually watch this movie, they will end up surprised. This is the only good thing about the haters.

I dont think this movie will be oscar winning and such, I dont care about the oscars anyways, but this will definitively be a VERY VERY GOOD movie.

Opinion aside, based on what we've seen, do you truely believe this film is in the same league as GI Joe, Watchmen, TF?

I agree that it's unlikely a lesser known property (in comparison to the more bankable and obvious properties) like DB would garner a huge budget for its first film, but there are directors and producers who have been able to make a 80mil film look like a 200mil film. There are also other studios who would have taken a greater creative risk as well, knowing full well the incredible rewards they could reap with such an effort.

i think iron man had a better start at introducing the character, it took 2 bad batman films before somebody stepped in and gave a proper introduction, burtons films werent bad, but it made u wonder who supplied batman

There was a small moment when they hinted at least where he might have trained in Batman (1989). "Because I bought it in Japan." And usually when a person thinks karate or martial arts, they think of some eastern country, and I believe it was a nod to that.

And the guy's a genius billionaire, so it's believable that he bought supplies and crafted them into Batman gear.

That's my two cents on "lack" of Batman's origins in Burton's films.
