Official AVENGERS Supporting Cast Discussion Thread

There has been oodles of talk about the heavy hitting superheroes and supervillains of the upcoming fanboy nerdgasm to end all fanboy nerdgasms, known to some as "The Avengers Movie", but not a lot of talk about the various supporting players that will likely make a return when everyone finally teams up. Not just Nick Fury and Jim Rhodes, but Betty Ross, Pepper Potts, Gen. Ross, and others who might appear in THOR and CAP's films. And if the Avengers movie is successful, will likely appear in further films after that.

If I recall, aren't Liv Tyler and Gwyneth Paltrow like total BFFs in real life?

I would rather they not use budget money by trying to stuff all the supporting characters from the solo films. Include the essential SHIELD agents, the villain\villains, and main heroes. Any appearance by any non essential characters from the previous films should be strictly cameos.

Sharon Carter or Hawkeye/Black Widow. That should suffice. We can go all day about supporting villains though. I don't think supporting characters from the solo films should be heavily featured... Rhodes should not have a huge role.

I dont need girlfriends. I say keep it to shield agents or low level heroes I really dont want to even have Hawkeye or others on his level. This movie is already packed with characters. So if someone like Hawkeye is in it they will get a cheap probably noname actor wgo will have a brief appearance. I say save him and people like him for sequels so they could down the line replace a team member and hire a more capable actor who could carry a movie. I dont want them to do like the x-films did where im like cool colossus then when they want to use him in the third there committed to some guy who cant act so he is given like 5 lines. Same with sabertooth they got a guy who looked perfect and did what they needed but now when they do a prequel and want to explore the character more he just does not cut it

considering Hawkeye is already confirmed to have a substantial role in IM2 I think it's safe to say he'll be pretty big in Avengers also.

One of the most important supporting characters is Jarvis, but in Iron Man he was turned into (realistically for Tony) a computerized security type system.
But I would still love to have Jarvis (the computer system) in the Avenger's movie. He can run and operate the Avenger's mansion, and their security and computer stuff.
Like Captain America asks Jarvis to run a scan of something.

I'd also like to see Rick Jones finally in some movie, perhaps here.
It might even be a funny pairing to have a very human Rick Jones and a computer Jarvis.
I imagine a scene like:
The avengers have just left for battle, leaving behind Rick at the house. Jarvis and Rick have already met.
Rick is sitting with his feet on the table, Jarvis (over the entercom system of the house) tells him to remove his feet from the table. Then after Rick does, a little robot comes out of some wall and cleans the table. (just a start) but I can imagine that.

I definitely want to see SHIELD agent cameos.
To be realistic, and I think they plan to be,
there would definitely be crossovers like Tbolt Ross, Betty, Pepper, Rhodey, Jarvis, Fury, and the like.



(And as far as Cameos go with other heroes like Hawkeye, an Avengers movie might be the only chance to see him on the big screen. So I hope he gets in. Perhaps in one of the Avengers movies Stark is recruiting and finds him at a circus.)

Maybe Pym and Wasp will be removed? Just a though... maybe they want to give Ant-Man is own film first before bringing him in Avengers. Then save him for a sequel. I just think it is too packed with Hawkeye/BW/Pym/Wasp... and the rest.

I like the idea of Avengers 2 having Hawkeye, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Wonder Man, and turn it into a sort of rehabilitation for former villains turned heroes. (maybe thats an idea for Avengers 3).

But i really want to see the pairing of Jarvis and Rick Jones.

Also, where is it confirmed about Hawkeye?
(I would like to see the originals first too, and not like X-men did with using the most popular and rewriting their history.)

I sure hope they don't go the route the JLA/JLU cartoons did and completely drop the alter-egos and their supporting characters. These guys still have the secret identities thing going on you know(well, some of them anyway). The supporting cast for each don't need to have more than cameos but to cut them out completely would feel like the film is missing the grand scope that a film like this needs.

Ted Levine from Monk is the only choice for Dum Dum Dugan

Zachary Levi of Chuck is my favorite for Rick Jones.

Nick Fury would be sort of a Starring Supporting Cast Member. Not really one of the stars, but bigger than the supporting cast, and have more lines.

Sharon Carter (I see her being more in the Cap movie, cameo here),
Hawkeye,
and other SHIELD agents.

Some characters that might have cameos but not much more than seconds of screen time could include

so I guess that never was confirmed but I remember at the time that Favreau said both Hawkeye and Black Widow were gonna have big roles in IM2. guess they decided against it.
