Pride and Predator Together on the Big Screen?
Source: Variety (http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118000187.html?categoryid=13&cs=1)
February 17, 2009
Will Clark is set to direct Pride and Predator, which veers from the traditional period costume drama when an alien crash lands and begins to butcher the mannered protagonists, who suddenly have more than marriage and inheritance to worry about.
Shooting will begin in London later this year. Elton John executive produces, and his Rocket Pictures partners Steve Hamilton Shaw and David Furnish are producing.
Clark, who directed award-winning short The Amazing Trousers, wrote the script with Andrew Kemble and John Pape.
"It felt like a fresh and funny way to blow apart the done-to-death Jane Austen genre by literally dropping this alien into the middle of a costume drama, where he stalks and slashes to horrific effect," Furnish said.

If they actually stuck predator into pride and prejudice i'm sure it would become more fun than watching paint dry.

Actually yeah....
Get out of your stuffy and pompous TDK clothes and get into light and fun Pride and Predator casuals. It needs a good script and sincere acting (Airplane! or Monty Python) to be respected as a genuinely funny and enjoyable film...
People today are too scared to laugh...
As it there are a lack of fun movies nowadays and Seltzer & Friedburg have soured everyone's taste for a good spoof/comedy film.

This sounds like it could be pretty funny stuff... It reminds me of that brilliant Harry Enfield sketch, the "What if Terminator 3 was made by Merchant Ivory?" one.

It's not THAT predator, so I'll have to pass on this. The premis sounds interesting and it's originalish..but it sounds like it's coming from a 1995 direct to video feature you see advirtised in your video rental Coming Soon sheet.
I wouldn't mind however if they made an actual Predator sequal that took place back in time (any centrery would do). I'd watch that, but not really this.
This idea sounds completely lame. We can't just get a normal Predator movie set in a historic period?

If they used the actual Predator it could be really funny.
It certainly would be better than AVP.

I'd say that if it was actually the PREDATOR we know and not some made-up rip-off alien type creature, this film would be appealing and worth watching to see how it played out, but since it is NOT the PREDATOR...it's just some film that I have no interest in seeing (or to put it this way, I would NEVER pay to see this film).

I think saying this statement before seeing a trailer, or a picture or...well...anything from this movie is a bit illogical.

It's not illogical. From what they've said and given us so far, I don't need a trailer or picture to know that this idea is not interesting to me. Now, I got interested when I heard the title 'Pride and Predator' because lets face it, that's a cool name. I think of that name and I imagin some civil war era action going on that deals with a countrys pride to fight and then you have Predator added to that...well KICK ASS. But the you read the description of the movie and it's a total buzz kill. And I'm one hundred percent sure it's NOT THE FAMOUS PREDATOR ARNOLD OR GLOVER FOUGHT. It's just a title they use to describe a creature they've made up and try to use it for marketing because lets face it, you see PREDATOR in a title and we all know what people think.
It's just going to be some low budget film with an interesting premise that will fall flat all the way through.
Like I said, it's NOT that PREDATOR and it's just not something that draws to my attention as something I'd pay to see, rent or own. When it comes to Sci-Fi channel, and by luck I happen to catch it when it's on, and if it looks decent...I'll watch it.

This is one of the best ideas I've heard of in a LONG time.
If it was the actual Predator, and he was both killing people AND involved in a cheesy romance it would be even better!!!
Even still, throwing an alien into a Pride and Prejudice movie could get me to actually watch it, and WANT to watch it. (my gf is always trying to get me to watch the old miniseries)

My only recommendation for this film is to bring in a Queen Alien as an opera singer during one scene just before a predator attacks the audience.

I dont understand how people can bash a movie that hasn't even produced a cast, pictures, viral, or trailer yet. How can you hate it when you haven t seen anything from it? Its an original idea, so stop complaining, saying you would "never" see this movie, you don't even know what the movie is besides the thin plot. Stop being bandwagon jumpers and think for yourselves.
