Haha, I knew this would happen. It was nothing serious guys, I've just been playing around with suit ideas. I didn't want to make a good mask so I just plopped on daredevil's head, coloured it and painted him eyes. The whole thing took me like 5 minutes max. Again, I just wanted to see what the suit would look like.

Whats the base image for that? I love the texture added to the torso. I agree with Doom about the shoulders and pants, but other than that its brilliant. Oh, and not sure I like the casting choice there - seems a bit harsh a guy in the face. You should totally post this in the Cap's costume thread. Its realistic enough (shoulders notwithstanding) that it gives an excellent idea of how the classic can be faithfully and realistically transferred to the live action.

I didnt know what BDU was, so looked it up. And noted that there are several criticisms about it; notably heat retention, weight, and overuse of reinforcement and pockets. Surely that speaks to the necessity of Cap not to wear baggy standard issue BDU pants in a night blue, but instead go the route egarza has put forward

Nice manip.

Lose the black on the inside leg, upper ribcage and armpit and we're golden.

Small things like the stars on the shoulder and the fish scales I wouldnt necessarilly choose - but I could certainly live with.

Thanks guys. Here is a Captain America poster, as played by Gabriel Macht. For the ultimate super-soldier, I’m actually torn between Matt Dillon (no, not Damon, Dillon) and Gabriel Macht., I think Matt Dillon is a dark horse candidate with a good build and the old-fashioned good looks of a conservative, world war two poster boy. I think he can pull off both the tough, gritty side of Cap as well as the vulnerable idealism. He’s younger than Pitt and Tom Jane, and looks younger than Eckhardt by a few years too. On the flipside is Gabriel Macht. Normally I don’t like repeat heroes, but this would be an exception. He’s the perfect Steve Rogers… got the voice, the look, the athleticism, and the acting chops. Right now I’m leaning more towards him. Anyway, that’s just my two cents.

Baron Zemo should be the main physical threat as opposed to the Red Skull’s mental one (until the climax, of course, which he-Red Skull- will survive for The Avengers- keep your fingers crossed). Michael Fassbender would be a studly psychotic Nazi whose family has been pureblood Aryan for a thousand years. I see him as a tad tragic, but by no means pitiable… he’s been so deluded that he would die to keep his country pure…I kind of imagine a flashback scene similar to pathetic young Doom from the second Ultimate FF book, when he’s reciting his family lineage. Anyway…

Zola, who I see as totally revamped from the lame (come on, let’s be honest, not Cap’s coolest villain) comic version. In the movie, he should be the Nazi counterpart to Erskine. He’s the one who creates the “Unknown Factor” that screws Red Skull up so bad. Mads Mikkelsen would be creepily perfect (and he has a cool name)!

Ideally, I would want Anton Yelchin, but he was just Kyle Reese, so I’m not sure if another war film (with a pretty similar character) is right for him. Chatwin did a pretty good job in War of the Worlds and that one episode of Lost, so I think he could pull this off. He also looks a lot older with a little scruff (once again, Lost), so I think he could make a kick tail Winter Soldier in future films. (Actually since my dreams of Joseph Gordon-Levitt being a rebooted Peter Parker (curse you Raimi!) are dying, I’d like him as winter soldier. a bit to old for Bucky though. Shame.)

Since Charlie Hunnam isn’t Thor, (not that I'm complaining about Hemsworth) I think he would make a nice addition to Cap’s squad in the form of Union Jack. He is the right age to have a father who served in WWI (the first U.J.) and has the chops to make a solid allied fighter. Regardless of the actor, Union Jack has to make an appearance in this film! He’s a great character and would show that America isn’t just taking things into their own hands, being fascist hippocrites, self-righteous war-mongers… blah, blah, blah (shut up, anti-war activists, what are you doing on a Captain America thread?),

Finally, there is only one option for the Nazi baddie… Thomas Kretschmann. He’s probably sick of playing Nazis but the dude’s perfect. ‘Nuff said! (okay, maybe there are others, but he is far and away the best. in second place in –maybe- Til Schweiger ?SP?)

Well, I'm still in High School and used to design t-shirts for our wrestling team, using my own drawings, scanned in and recolored on MS paint. On the day one of the shirts was due to be printed the coach wanted a last minute change (:cmad:), so the art teacher took pity on me and let me use her photoshop (usually reserved for Computer Art Students). Anyway, I kinda thought, wow, this program has endless possibilities. I want it for my B-Day. So I'm using Elements now, which is working pretty well. That's pretty much where my experience comes from.

As far as the casting, I actually put a lot of thought behind it. The longer it's been since I did Bucky (about a week ago) the more I want to punch Chatwin in the face. (Yes I recently watched The Invisible... if there was a puking smiley, I would use it now.)

Look: The actor should be tall and fit (or have the ability to bulk up, but have a clearly athletic quality... not muscle bound). Natural blond hair and blue eyes are a plus, but the ability to be dyed / wear contacts without looking like Jessica Alba, is essential. The actor should have a strong frame / posture, and equally strong, charismatic facial features. Basically, he should look like Cap as much as possible, including age appearance. Young, but not youthful, experienced but not old.



Presence: The actor should have a strong voice and demeanor. He should project an air of confidence, worldliness and stoicism. The right age appearance plays into this, but more importantly, character development and story seal the deal. So, acting becomes important, but without the correct base qualities from the actor, may not sell well.



Physicality: The actor should able to handle the physical challenges of the role. We want as many stunts and fight scenes handled by the actor as possible. He should be able to come across as a top rate action star, as well as, be very talented ina dramatic sense. He should be believable and in this role, and honed for the scenes.



Acting: Said actor needs to run a range of emotions. Ambitious, patriotic young man... confident, determined soldier... hardenned, stoic veteran... awkward, conflicted man-out-of-time... brave, focused leader for a new age. Not to mention, be able to sell the requirements for Presence.



With all this in mind... I think that Pine is my top pick. Just one man's opinion. On what Rich Santoro said on his criteria on what CA should be, I made a manip of what he should look like in the movie.

heres a quick manip I did of the Ultimate suit. I turned the gray areas of the suit blue, removed the stars on the upper arms, and added in the wings. I think just those small tweaks make it a pretty nice compromise between the classic 616 and the kind of modernized, updated look that the movie will almost certainly go for and ideally i'd love to see something similar for the movie.......

......On a side note, for the WWII era, I'd put my vote in for Bryan Hitch's recent "Reborn" design for the suit, a really nice balance between the classic look and his Ultimate WWII design. Just change that stenciled "A" to normal and give the helmet attached wings rather than painted on and BINGO.

His shield is not unbreakable. Artists draw cap's shield with dents and paint chips all the time. A perfectly clean looking shield looks unused.

Thanks Spiderbyte - not sure about the filter though, while its very "Saving Private Ryan" - it is far too washed out. You lose the Red, White and Blue and get greys and dark mushroom colours. Even SPR only did this filtered effect for the D-Day sequence (around 20 mins) - too much dull is dull. We saw this in Superman Returns also.

I used an aging effect. The dark lines are caused because the effect makes it so it looks a little torn or slightly burnt.
