..whose misfortune and/or death made you grin, smirk, stand up and shout, cheer up or even drink a toast!

I'll start with one annoying son of a b**ch who got his and rightfully so: Eli Sunday, that little obnoxious religious prick from There Will Be Blood. First he ate mud, then he died in the bowling green.. priceless. I know, I know: some might say that Plainview was just as bad a character than Sunday (even worse) but I just can't stand religious freaks.

Feel free to contribute :cwink:

Commodus in Gladiator. What a smug, arrogant and thoroughly unlikable little bastard. Between the patricide, incestuous desire of his sister, jealously of Maximus and just general douchebaggery, I couldn't stand him.

There's a scene in the film, during he and Maximus' confrontation in the Colosseum (after he's already gained an unfair advantage, trying to portray it as his own combat prowess) where Commodus panders to the crowd and he has this unmistakable self-righteous, ****-eating grin on his face; it's infuriating and inspires profanity to this day. There are few characters that have ever deserved death more.

-Amon Goth from Schindler's List. He was so sadistic. He just shoots "jews" for fun off his balcony...and the attempted rape on that girl, then beating he up because she used her "Jew magic"...what a loser.

It was ironic how he died though....reminded me of when the trigger wasn't working when he was trying to kill the old man.

- The child murderer in Changeling.

Anybody who can brutally chop little boys to pieces with an axe gets NO sympathy from me. His death scene was well deserved...and for someone who takes children's lives away so viciously, he sure was a cry baby :o

Gollum in The Return of the King. Yes, he was portrayed well, just like Joker was, but his betrayals and trickery got on my nerves every time. And what he did to Sam...

I was going to trace all of it back to Sauron at first, who created the Ring, so why not him too.

Almost any character played by Brian Cox is despicable.

True. Her screen time does play into your hatred of her. But if there's anything more sickening than molesting a child, it would HAVE to be raping and impregnating your OWN child, not to mention giving her HIV in the process.

Tony Montana- ScarFace, You don't kill your best friend for sleeping with your sister. Especially not without getting an explanation. You don't embarrass your wife in public like that, even if she is a coke head, but especially if you're one too. You can't treat a grown independent woman (his sister) like she's 12. Even though the end reason he died is because he was actually noble enough not to kill kids, he still deserved death for those valid other reasons.

Exactly. Everyone in the audience knew that crap was about to go down when she said everything would be fine but it went right over his head.

Actually, neither of them did the logical thing: get a priest, pastor, rabbi or freakin witch doctor to take care of the demon. You are dealing with something supernatural and evil. Thus, get someone that is good and knows how to handle the supernatural.

Walter Peck in Ghostbusters - A comedic character, yes, but Peck was such an arrogant prick that he transcended his comedic worth and become just a genuinely unlikeable entity, regardless genre

Michael Corleone - surprised I haven't seen him mentioned yet (apologies if I missed him), and I'll admit it's somewhat debatable, but Michael in The Godfather II was a heartless bastard.

Harry Angel in Angel Heart - I can't think of another movie where the main lead, who up until near the end is supposedly the hero, has been a more sleazy and all around unlikeable character. Rourke did a fantastic job at making his character compelling while at the same time being a total scumbag.
