My Iron man helmet almost ready!

Hi!

I want to share with all of you my creation, as you may guess is an iron man helmet, inspired in movie version one, I tried to do in the closer way I was able. At the moment I am at the molds point, my next step would be to paint and to do the negatives, after that I will make the first wearable helmet, probably with fiberglass and resin, because here in Malaga (spain) I don´t know were to find materials to do a cold cast one...

Thanks The Iron man, yes I am planning to do an entire suit, I know it is a lot of work, then I´ll go step by step, next thing to do are the Arc and the neck, after that the upper body, but I want to do with the abs separates to get maximun movements the armor would give.

I am back with the first testing, it is not perfect but I´m pretty happy with it, it would be wearable, but as I imagine I need to detach the chin zone from the rest of the head and something would nedd to be made to atach again, at least it would look like in the movie when the face is opened. I´m back with an update, now the helmet is wearable, to use it needs to be detached in 3 part the back-head, the face plate and the chin, I will produce to types of helmet the completed one to use in an stand or in 3 parts to wear, anyway both types can be converted in the another on. Huuum, I don´t know if when you said soooo tight is good or bad, I made it not too big because I don´t want to be like a superdeformed anime character :word:

Anyway it fits so good for me as I wanted when was sculpted.

how does it open and close? what did you use to make this happen?

I didn't implement it yet, but I am planning for the chin something likes guides or neodimium magnets, and for the face plate a rotating system.

Hi again!!!

It´s time to some updates.

I am near finishing the design for the face plate, this is the system I will use:

I need to decide yet if it will be manually , activated by a servo or a motor...

THe another update is that finishly I did the helmet with rigid polyurethane resin by rotational casting technik, it´s amazing now all the details and I am very happy with the finish product. It is good enough to try to sell any ( probably at ebay) to get some money to help paying all the costume and save myself from my girlfriend :whatever:

Hi everyone!

I am back with some updates on my proyect.

It was a long time since the last time :whatever: but I was very busy...

My helmet have finally a opening system for the face plate ( not hands free yet but...), the armor have the abs and the low back almost done, and half chest is on the way.

I am very happy with all this work, of course it could be better but... what the hell, it´s my first armor and I am not Tony Stark :doh:

I am now working with pepakura on the arms and with a servo to open flip the helmet automatized, I need to finish a board with an 555 IC and begin testing, I still keep in mind my hope of having the armor finished for may :whatever:

Hi!

I was wasting some freetime in design a hinge system for the first Dungebeetle helmet. Now is in an obj file that must be translated into pepakuras one. I can not spend more time on it but the "hard work" was done.

Once the system were build will need some minor fix in one specific zone that it´s marked on the image with the red pointer.

In the file are a few elements:

The only element that is not in first pic is only to print in paper and mark the position for element 1

Elements 1,2 and 3 must be done in some kind of plastic sheet, for mine I used 3 milimetters one wich is bendable where it´s needed to do.

Element 4 must be done with CNC machine or do in pepakura and fill with resin. I suggest to merge element 3 and 4 to use 3 screws then the face will be taken when necessary.

The one who be brave enough to do the rest of the job must made a mirror in piece number 4.

Don´t hesitate if anyone of you have any question :cool

There is one year since I beginning this journey. I´m afraid I still need a few hours more :whatever:

I hope in the next four weeks I will finish the arms and torso moulds and do the first cast of them.

Yes, for sure it would weight a lot (cold cast technik add a lot of weight and only would be a good choice IMO for MARK2 suit)

Now I´ll show you my last update.Long time since last one but I was pretty busy at work and I´ve got some problems with my back so I couldn´t do a lot...

But now I´m proud to tell that I´ve finish my voice recognition system to manage the suit once it´s done, now I´ve got working the faceplate opening and lightning up the eyes. I´ve remodeled again the opening system to be easier for the servos and change them to a 10Kilos new ones

I was working also in the legs. I take Dancin_fool´s thigh and I´ve modified to have a hinge system like I did with the arm. Also I´ve designed a calf and a complete boot.

There also good news for you. After thinking a lot I´ve decided to freely release all my pep files for one reason over all of them, if I´m using another people file all of you must have the chance to use mines.

The "rules" of usage for this file are simple (and from now for the another ones posted before):

Creo que solo has visto una de las dos piezas del antebrazo bajo, esta proporcionado con respecto a fotos del traje, y una vez todo montado queda bien como puedes ver en el video del test de movilidad ;)
