First things first, Alex the Great - this doesn't belong in either the NFL Thread or the NFL Draft Thead.
So what is the point of this thread? Why a game of course!
You, the SHH! Poster, become the GM of your favorite, second favorite or random team on draft day. Together we combined will make an official Superherohype Mock Draft. My goal would be to do at least two rounds (mainly to allow Carolina and Dallas a chance to be active), though this is subject to change should the majority of participants not be comfortable going beyond round 1.
Trades involving both draft picks and players will be allowed.
This draft will likely go over two or three days simply due to logistics.
My goal would be to do this draft a week before the actual NFL draft.
If you are interested, simply respond indicating such as well as which team you would prefer. If you are interested in multiple teams, give me which teams you would like - though if another poster is interested in one of your teams, they will receive that team.
Teams will be rewarded by first come, first serve.
I am comfortable with any team for this, so I will wait to make my selection.
****
My goal on Draft Day is for an NFL Draft Day Thread consisting of not only this Mock Draft, but any other Mock Draft submitted by a Hype Poster.
Points for accuracy will be rewarded for Poster Submitted Mock Drafts, the winner having the option of starting the 2010 NFL Draft
Thread.
Rule 3.24.1

You can't cut or sign players - but you do can trade anyone on the Bucs roster.

Either. If you want it to be secretive, PM. If you want to use a "trading block" style - post in the thread.

Word, Maroney is a top 10 talent
Though Forte was good all around, he had 10 games where his ypc was under 4. Forte/Maroney combo will be much more efficient as they try to become more of a running team to make room for the franchise QB, whenever he should arrive.
Forte is the classic big pounder, while Maroney slashing ram style of running balances perfectly. Forte will get more playing time in general as he will be the primary blocker and goalline back, as well he would start the 1st drive and go 1st. However, Maroney would get the more carries of the 2. It would be something like 15-17 Maroney, 13-15 for Forte. Forte would be the 1st quarter hurter and 4th quarter clock killer, while Maroney would be used to slice through defenses and move the ball in the 2nd and 3rd. Id have a lot of formations with both of them on field as Maroney is far more dangerous in the open field than Forte.
Matt Forte will be the pounder, move the chains, clock killer with Maroney as the shifty, change of direction, big play back

I strongly feel like we should pan this out into a fantasy-style game. I mean, if I took the Colts, I could trade for the Detroit "owner's" 1st rounder and it will make no difference other than, "I make the next thread."
Anyone savvy enough with Fantasy Football to run something like that?

That could be cool. We'd have to do a fantasy league where the commissioner does the draft, and simply gives us the players on each team. It could be abit unfair...i.e., I know on the Bears I said I would do a Maroney-Forte combo...but on seperate teams theyll get more playing time, ect.
But it could still be cool.

Maybe it could work like this:
Each player gets one NFC and one AFC team.
Owners are allowed rights to each player on his or her team, whether to use them or trade them.
Each year, our own NFC and AFC fantasy record determines what our order is in choosing full teams in next year's draft, a month before the actual NFL draft.
The teams we choose determine our own draft of NFL rookies.
Basically, each year, the teams re-set, and we choose two new teams, have our own drafts, trades, etc.

Does the Hype already have a Fantasy Football Keeper league?
Really I can't see how this can turn into something Fantasy related simply because of all the small details that can't be simulated.
That does not mean, however, that I wouldn't totally be in for a long term Keeper league.

It'd be rough to do a keeper considering we're loosely basing this off of whole NFL teams (that we are able to modify) instead of our own, simulated teams.

I am not saying the two would be related. Again, I don't see how it would be possible to turn this into more than just a fake off season.

I am not saying the two would be related. Again, I don't see how it would be possible to turn this into more than just a fake off season.
I can figure out a format to organize, as I've already got a loose idea. I just don't know how to do the points and calculations, so if someone else is capable of that, this could be done.
Basically:
-Each owner receives one NFC and one AFC team each (or we can break it down to all 32 teams, whichever). The owner is allowed to use the players from these teams (either separately or together, that'd have to be decided), whether he/she wants to trade or keep them for use later is up to them.
-We would likely have to limit this to Fantasy-usable players (no trading offensive linemen, individual defensive players, etc.).
-Using this format, we receive draft picks for our Mock NFL Draft depending on how the ACTUAL NFL team does in the ACTUAL NFL games (i.e., NOT our Fantasy games). The actual team's draft picks become our own, and we are free to trade and/or keep them as we wish.
-At the end of each season, we arrange our own draft of NFL teams (basically, in order of record [best to worst], we get to choose which team[s] we will own for the next season). The whole process from here starts over.
-From here, based on the actual NFL's records (and any traded/compensatory picks from the previous year), we draft rookies to our own new team(s).
Just a loose idea of how it could work, but I think we could do this if we get a dedicated commissioner.

Introducing the "RAMORE" rule. Players that have just been granted multi-year contracts by a team during the 2009 off season are not tradeable. Players who have agreed to one year contracts or franchise tags are still tradeable. That sort of sucks it ruins the whole thing that made the game cool...being in control:cmad:
Let me save you the trouble: nobody wants Michael Clayton. There's nothing attractive about him.
I'm not going to give up a WR one year removed from a 16 touchdown Pro Bowl season for a guy who's scored two touchdowns in four years.
Well it was worth a try I know he's awful that's why I don't want him but maybe in a better situation he'll be better like his rookie year.

No, it allows for plenty in control. It just prevents players from doing completely illogical moves - like trading a player a team just spent good time locking up for a long term contract.
For example, there is no way in hell Michael Clayton would be traded to anyone.

From Cleveland's perspective, I think we upgraded tremendously at the WR position. I'd take Boldin's consistency over Edwards any day, plus Hixon is a more polished receiver at this stage of his career than Cribbs, and he also possesses return capabilities.
And, in reality, we lost absolutely nothing in the trade.

It pretty much came down to wanting a true #1 over grooming another rookie WR, Smith panned out very well for us. Edwards was available, so I knew I had to give up a lot to get him, I knew I had to give up one of my receivers, I felt that giving up Hixon but to get Cribbs back in return was huge. Although Hixon is better overall, Cribbs fills the kick/punt return need with Hixon getting shipped, Cribbs will also be huge in the special trick plays we may run. :cwink:

Glad I picked up McClain. He knows the value of a two back system unlike Larry Johnson and is a bit younger. He'll be a great bruiser. I need some help on defense, particularly the secondary. A big, physical safety, a cornerback to pair with Robinson, or a big OLB who would be the leader of this defense for young guys like Adibi, Willams, Okoye, etc. Almost everyone on my roster is available for trades except for Andre Johnson.

Has Cutler been dealt yet??? Skins are looking for an upgrade at QB and the Broncos have to deal him for sure... I think Donnie Darko has Denver. Lemme know if you are willing to deal him to the Skins. You pretty much know what we have to give.

You'd have to ask Norman, but I don't think Donnie HAS to deal Cutler. That's his own business.

Thread.
How many rounds will this be? Are we doing 2 just like the SHH mock draft?

I don't know if my PM got through to Darko... the hype got cut off when I submitted it. Let me know if you got the offer.

I think Denver might take a back now in the 1st round.

Concerning the Denver trade, Dark Donnie still holds rights to Jay Cutler. Should Excel wish to make the same trade, we know what's on the table. Otherwise Cutler is still on the trading block.

Norman, on draft day, are we getting points for how accurate our mock draft is in terms of who the teams will actually draft or who the posters here will draft based on roster changes?

So this weekend, will we hold our own draft based on the trades we've made as well as posting our mock drafts for when the real draft happens?
StorminNorman

This weekend will be the draft. For anyone wanting to enter the mock draft competition, there must be one posted in the NFL Draft thread. The deadline for that will be 3:00 EST of the draft.

So how will this work Normie you as the commish will say who's on the clock and then they have 12 hours to choose right? Will you list what players are still available?
StorminNorman

I will list the players chosen. The first page will be updated with "live mock draft coverage" showing who is on the clock, who has been chosen, by who, etc.
