For myself...I REALLY had a hard time, I have always had such an affinity for Ironman...and I thought the character was well done.
But in the end....I think TDK wins out in my opinion...

I don't think Hancock is based on a comic.

Both Iron Man and TDK are good movies. I remember how amazed I was after watching them the first time. However, after watching them several times each, I still enjoy watching Iron Man immensely.

Not sure...may not be comic based...but it falls into the genre...
Hancock would be a superhero movie--I'm sure it's not based on a comic. Anywaaay.. my vote goes to TDK

I'm gonna wait. Maybe if it's a toe to toe race between TDK and Ironman I can be the tie breaker and disappoint a lot of TDK fans :woot:

............THE DARK KNIGHT! *cue Joker laugh*

The Dark Knight is the better made movie, however I have to go with Iron Man. I enjoyed it a whole lot more. And I think TDK was{in my opinion} a bit overhyped{hype well deserved nonetheless}.

I somewhat agree Fisher....I was having a hard time with deciding....

The Incredible Hulk. That movie impressed the hell out of me. Story, acting, action, and special effects/CGI. Stayed really close to the comic books and TV show.
Iron Man in second.
While I liked Dark Knight, I thought it was a terrible comic movie. It went for that realism which took that whole feel away and irritated me.
Just my opinion. Don't want baby ass fanboys screaming at me for that. -_-

You're entitled to your opinion, but I disagree about TDK being realistic, despite all the ado constantly being made about that. It has a tank flying into a parking garage from nowhere, has Batman flying through Hong Kong using a cloth cape as a glider, has Batman and Rachel surviving a fall from a tall building virtually unscathed (even AFTER colliding with the hood of a car at who knows how many mph). And then there's the batpod suddenly popping out of the tumbler (AFTER the tumbler jumps through the air). Oh yes, and then Batman flips Joker's truck over with a grappling hook and some cables. Something tells me that wouldn't work in real life.
And of course, there's Two-Face, who wouldn't even be alive with injuries that severe if they were left untreated, and it's iffy if he'd survive even if they were. He definitely wouldn't be walking around pistol whipping people. I don't think I even need to go into how the Joker's plans were executed perfectly to the point where he seems more like a supernatural force than an actual person. Like I said, you're entitled to your opinion, but the movie was realistic in tone only, IMO. It was very much a comic book movie.
Having said that, I wish I'd voted for Hellboy 2 instead of TDK now, because that movie doesn't have any votes yet. :csad: While I don't think it's the best of 2008, it doesn't get enough recognition at all.

I know there are some highly un-real things in it, like in Die Hard (which is realistic, aside from action scenes), but I mean just the whole feel. Having Joker with make up and scars, Two-Face being made from fire, the whole plot etc. It just didn't give me that comic book feel. I felt the changes were made just to give it a more realism approach rather than a comic book movie.
I know IMDB isn't too trustful, but the trivia said Nolan didn't want Batman in the title because it sounded too much like a comic book movie?

So so true..... It got outshined by TDK :csad: and it was an awesome film.

No votes for Punisher. How shocking.
I voted for The Incredible Hulk. It has great rewatchability, acting, pacing, brilliant cinematogrophy and set pieces, fantastic CGI, and is just plain fun to watch. It really was the surprise of the year IMO. Iron Man was close behind.
TDK is the 'best' film of 2008, and I proudly own my DVD copy of it, but it doesn't have the fun accessiblity I prefer from comic book movies. Hell, I would have voted Wanted on this poll before I voted TDK because it's another highly entertaining, although ridiculous, comic book film.

The Dark Knight is winning, shock horror...
Iron Man takes my vote coz it was a bit of a surprise at just how good it was, TDK was always gonna be great.

I only saw TDK, Iron Man, and Hulk, Enjoyed them all. Hulk was fun, I actually cheered at "HULK SMASH!!!", Iron Man was good, felt the most like the comics, but being more of a Bat-fan the edge went to TDK, followed by IM, then Hulk.

I voted for "Iron Man". While "The Dark Knight" was a better-made film, "Iron Man" has a lot more replay value. I think I've rewatched the Blu-ray of "Iron Man" about a dozen times in a dozen different contexts. However, I've only watched "The Dark Knight" twice. Plus, as good as "The Dark Knight" is... "Iron Man" is a lot more fun to watch.

I voted for TDK but Iron Man was a close second. As far as their endings, Iron Man wins hands down.

Agreed. Iron Man and TIH tie in my books, and definitely are ahead of TDK as far as fun to watch/rewatchability. TIH deserves some love so I decided to vote for it, but man, Iron Man is insanely good.

Iron Man. Really enjoyed it, the tech, the humor, the love interest. It had its gross moments but was very clever.
Dark Knight was incredibly well done but so gruesome and brutal that I didn't want to see most of it again.

I voted for Iron Man.
TDK was a good film, but was overhyped. It was no more enjoyable (better?) than Begins.
I honestly believe it would have only done Begins box office had Ledger not died. My wife feel asleep during it in the cinema, which says a lot for the nature of the film.
Now Iron Man was a different matter. It closely paralleled Transformers in this regard for my wife, in that it was based on some nerdy medium, and she resented having to see it, but was completely surprised at how enjoyable it was, and how it catered for the girls in the audience.
TDK was complex, you needed to be reasonably bright and attentive to follow the nuances of the plot. I'm pretty sure a lot of it flew over people's heads. Iron Man, you just needed to sit back, relax and enjoy the spectacle.

I honestly believe it would have only done Begins box office had Ledger not died. The film was receiving massive hype even while Ledger was alive. People all over the world were dressing like the Joker and getting involved in the viral campaign. Even at this stage of the game, people were already talking Oscar for him due to the prologue. And many went to see I Am Legend solely to see the first trailer/prologue for the film. Batman Begins never got that level of attention, especially since many were skeptical about how good it would be, myself included. If Dr. Parnassus (Ledger's true last film) makes even half the money TDK made, I'll sell everything I own and donate the money to charity.
The fact of the matter is, while Ledger was a well respected actor, he simply wasn't popular enough, even after he died, to bring in over 600 million bucks for the film. Hell, when he was announced to play the part, the Brokeback Joker comments were flying left and right. It wasn't Ledger, but the character he played that brought the big bucks in. The Joker means big money if he's done right, and Batman '89 is proof of that.

Ok then, maybe a bit more than Batman Begins, but only for the reason you have said: the Joker would draw in more people.
Will Dr Parnassus match TDK? No way. Will it do significantly better than if Ledger was still popping pills? Yep.

I choose Iron Man. Part of it was due to expectations. I expected Iron Man to be a 7/10 and I got a 9/10. I expected The Dark Knight to be a 9/10 and got a 10/10. So, from an emotional gut reaction, Iron Man surprised me more.
They also had to get origin stuff out of the way, where in TDK, they went straight into it.
