What would you expect? Like, you hear Superman, and you think "The brass is a good idea, since it's bright and bold, and so is Superman", or with Batman "Strings and Woodwinds really give off the dark vibe-it works".

What do you think would be a good way to encompass The Avengers?

Not as ambitious as LOTR... but you need a memorable score. All orchestra no doubt. If you need a name like Zimmer, or Shore then go out and get that guy. I have been trying to think of a tune that fits... sort of got something in my head but I can't quite put it together... but scores can make or break a film for me. Star Wars becomes Crap Wars if John Williams did not score it. Same with Transformers... an average, unemotional film becomes better than average because of Jablonky's work... don't get cheap and bring in a guy no one has ever heard of that's all I can say.

Yea i want something that will Be Iconic Like Batman and Superman.. Zimmer would be great but hes the only one who seems to be mentioned in every Score thread. I would like to see what John Williams , John Ottman or James Newton Howard could do for the Avengers.

I think it all depends on the tone of the picture. If they go the darker, more Ultimates route they're indicating in the little teases we've been given in other films, I think that Batman style of intense, moody music that still sounds heroic when the hero does his thing (the fight with the SWAT teams at the construction site at the end of TDK springs to mind on the heroic sound) would be best.

Seriously. Batman & Superman are the only super heroes with good themes. The rest are boring. Unless you count Black Sabbath's Iron Man as IM's theme.

I liked the Spider-man theme... X-Men movies never had a memorable theme though.

Yeah, I don't even remember what X-Men's is. :confused: Spider-Man's always gave me chills every time I sat in the theater for a movie. Hopefully Avengers can have that effect.

I always thought the X-Men was was the theme from X2. I can't remember what it's called offhand though.

I think Don Davis could do something pretty good. His score in the "Matrix Revolutions" was good

I know it not a THEME but it's a nice song to hear.

To me, something about the style and tone of James Horner's 'Aliens' theme just lends itself to the Avengers imo;

Imagine for the main theme:-

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/AVuo0lM4qio&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/AVuo0lM4qio&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

For an action scene (23 seconds into this vid):-

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/aJTZJHJt6Ic&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/aJTZJHJt6Ic&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Finale against whatever villain is in the movie:-

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KhFamq3Snjw&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KhFamq3Snjw&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

I agree, and Jablonsky or Shore would be fine for this movie. Their scores are epic but not at all over-the-top, unlike the score for Over The Top.
