People, listen. If we want to get back on topic, having Keyser explaining th CC footage and how AWESOME it was is not going to help. SO stop bragging about it, and let's move on.

This is a thread to discuss official news and gossip.

The footage shown at SDCC fits both those categories perfectly. So if you're getting livid hearing about what Keyser saw, don't come to this thread.

I want to hear it. I want to see it just as badly as you do, but picking fights isn't going to change the fact I didnt go to the convention nor will the footage be released. And if it should somehow come online, believe you me, I'll be ecstatic.

There's no need to shoot the messenger.

I don't mean Tony being without armor, I mean whiplash, because basically he just has the arc reactor and whips. Now my guess would be that Tony and Rhodey will fall out, and towards the final battle, Rhodey finds out about Justin Hammer sending the combat drones and he decides to help Tony and together they take on Whiplash and the combat drones.

Okay, trailer report. First things first, it wasn't really a trailer at all, but rather a collection of extended scenes. So I wouldn't believe anyone saying this footage is going to be shown before GI Joe or whatever. If we get anything before that film, it'll be different footage from the reel we got at Comic-Con.

We open with a glorious, beautiful shot that I'd happily see open the movie. The music kicks in, and we're on a close-up of Tony Stark's face, wearing shades, as he sits out in the bright sun and munches on a donut. The camera draws out, revealing he is wearing the Iron Man suit, sans mask. It draws out further, revealing he is sitting inside a huge Randy's Donuts donut sign on top of the store. It draws out further still, until we see Nick Fury at ground level, looking up at him.

"Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to exit from the donut."

We then cut to a scene in a diner, Nick Fury sitting opposite Tony Stark, Heat-style. Tony Stark looks incredibly hung over here. Possible hints of alcoholism down the line?

"I've told you already," Stark says, "I'm not interested in joining your little boyband."

"You've made it pretty clear you like flying solo," Fury replies.

"I'm sorry, I don't know if I should be looking at the eye or the patch," Stark adds, "I don't know if you're a figment of my imagination, or what you are."

Fury smirks knowingly.

"Oh no, I'm real alright, Mr. Stark. I'm just about the realest person you'll ever meet."

"Just my luck," Stark mutters in reply.

Cut to the next scene, the court tribunal. The scene is filmed like we're seeing live footage of the trial on an NBC news feed. Stark is obviously the public darling, soaking in the adoration of the people in attendance, smiling at the people behind him. After repeated attempts by Senator Stern to get his attention, Stark finally turns and acknowledges him with a smug, "Yes, dear?"

Stern says this hearing is about Tony Stark being in possession of a weapon of mass destruction, but Stark denies possessing any weaponry. Bemused, Stern asks Stark how then he would describe the Iron Man suit.

"An advanced prosthesis," he replies, getting a laugh from the court, "That's what I'd call the most accurate definition for it."

Stern demands that Stark hand the armor over, saying it belongs to the people of America. But Stark cuts him off, saying he built Iron Man, so it belongs to him.

"I am Iron Man. The suit and me, we are one. So just handing it over to you would be tantamount to indentured servitude or, depending on which state you're in, prostitution."

Senator Stern gets increasingly flustered, with the people in the courtroom clearly on Stark's side.

"Now I'm no expert..."

"On prostitution? Of course not, you're a senator!"

More laughs from the crowd. He stands up and raises his hands, motioning for their approval, but as he turns round, all he sees is Pepper Potts, with a disapproving look on her face. At this point, James Rhodes is called into the court, and as he enters, Stark says "I didn't expect to see you here," which to me seems like a sly dig at the recasting. Anyway, after a little back and forth, Stark sums up with:

"Iron Man is mine, you can't have it. I'm your nuclear deterrent, it works. You're welcome."

Once more, he turns to the audience in attendance, raising his hands in the peace sign Nixon-style.

"I've just privatized world peace, thank you very much."

Huge, whooping cheers for Tony Stark. He jerks a thumb back in the direction of the senators.

"What more do these assclowns want from me?"

We get one last shot of the furious Senator Stern.

"F**k you, Mr. Stark, f**k you. Court is adjourned."

From here, the extended scenes give way to more of a trailer set up. This is like a montage, with the main focal point - the introduction of Mickey Rourke's Whiplash - interspersed with quick cuts of other stuff. Sadly, Rourke's thick accent combined with the cheers in the audience meant I couldn't make out all of what he was saying, but the gist of it was that the Stark family ruined his life, and it sickens him how quickly people forget all the terrible things the Stark family have been responsible for. One line spoken was:

“You come from a family of thieves and butchers. And now, like all guilty men, you try to rewrite your own history.”

We see a glimpse of his workshop, the walls covered with newspaper articles on Starks Jr. and Sr., stretching back from the recent to the stuff covered in the opening montage of the first film. Whiplash intently hammers at his construction, the hammer becoming the heartbeat of the trailer, with each BOOM giving us another image from the film. I couldn't process them all, but here's some of the things I saw:

- A beleaguered-looking Tony Stark pacing through the grim corridors of what looked like a prison, flanked by guards.

- A stage filled with dancer girls strutting their stuff in some trendy nightclub.

- Tony and Natasha dancing.

- Ivan Vanko, dressed up in a smart suit and shades.

- Black Widow in a white hallway, taking out multiple security guards with ruthless efficiency.

- Stark with his shirt off, fear in his eyes, looking in the mirror at his chest. Black veins are spindling out from all around the energy battery in his chest. It seems like it has become infected, or his body is rejecting it.

- Chaos at the race track, with Stark emerging from the wreckage of a car.

Finally, the hammer beat ends, and we see what Whiplash has been working on - an electromagnetic chest battery of his own.

We cut to a shot shot of Tony Stark in his blue racing gear, crawling across the ground, desperately trying to get away from something, or rather someone. Then we see Whiplash, just slowly pacing towards Stark, like a predator stalking his prey, slicing the whips back and forth with these vicious swipes. They're making this savage, lightsaber-like sound, taking chunks out the concrete as they slice through it like butter. And the INTENSITY on Whiplash's face - eerily calm, yet brimming with malicious intent, like he had some prison rape in mind! You can just feel the hate and menace there - I think this is gonna be one heck of a bad guy!

We cut to a brief shot of Vanko, in the suit and shades once more. He smiles, and lets out a knowing laugh, as we fade to black.

All of a sudden, we're hit by a breathtaking aerial tracking shot of Iron Man. He is flying upwards through the night sky, when suddenly he's hit by a missile, sending him plummeting downward. He struggles to get back on his flight path, slowly ascending once more, trying to swerve past the missiles which are now soaring upwards all around him. The score builds and builds until the scene is cut off with

IRON MAN 2

Full-screen, with the familiar Black Sabbath theme kicking in. This is followed by:

SUMMER 2010

And we think it's over. But it's not. We see Justin Hammer, swaggering into a warehouse. He's wearing a smart suit with shades, but has on white surgical gloves - evidently for handling weaponry - and has a heavy satchel bag draped over his shoulder. He gives off the impression of a man who tries very hard to be as cool and suave as Tony Stark, but doesn't quite pull it off. We see that the man he has come here to meet is in fact James Rhodes, who has the Mark II armor sat on a bench in front of him. Hammer laughs when he sees it, pretends to kneel down and worship it.

"My oh my, is that what I think it is?" he asks.

"What have you got for me?" Rhodes curtly replies. Evidently he doesn't like dealing with Hammer.

If Hammer is aware of Rhodey's dislike, he doesn't show it. Grinning, he takes out a lollipop.

"What haven't I got?" he quips, putting the lollipop in his mouth and, rather than sucking on it, just gets a hold of it with his back teeth and crunches it off in one bite.

Hammer launches into a routine, cycling through a number of heavy-duty weapons, finishing with the biggest, an enormous gatling gun which, upon assembling it, he struggles to even hold upright. He tells Rhodey the gun has been given the nickname of "Uncle Gazpacho, or Puff the Magic Dragon."

"I'll take it," Rhodey says.

"Take what?" asks Hammer.

"All of it," Rhodey replies.

We then cut to a quick shot of War Machine flying through the night sky, unloading the gatling gun (which I THOUGHT was shoulder-mounted) at an unknown target. End of footage.

It was confirmed in a G4 interview with Jon at Comic Con. Here are others who saw the interview.

I was watching the Comic Con coverage on G4, Olivia Munn was interviewing Jon Favreau and he pretty much confirmed what everyone's been assuming

The race track Whiplash suit is the first suit and it progresses throughout the film, like the Iron Man armor in the first film.

Saw that too but no not everyone was assuming that. A lot of people have been complaining thinking that the first pic they release of the villian was going to be the final fight. "Oh Noez! He's not fully armored!" Yeah...just like the comics which this is based on. :oldrazz:

How did that guy remember all of that?? I remember seeing it, running to my desk a second later and not remembering line for line. He saw it, remembered line for line and flew back to Scotlannd to post it 3 days later, doubt it. He must have recorded it or has it bootlegged somehow at least. The only thing i saw wrong about his whole description was he said it showed it as a nbc feed but it was really shown as cnn. Everything else i remember exactly how he said it

Just thinking about all that for a second, it sounds as if Tony Stark will find out that his father helped build Captain America's shield. This sounds like it will lead him in the direction of Nick Fury and he'll agree to join the Avengers based on his father's connection with the mysterious agent.

I like this angle very much .

I think Wikipedia has said for a while...

In Iron Man, Captain America's shield can be seen in Tony Stark's workshop when JARVIS is removing his armor and Pepper Potts spots him.[4] According to an exclusive comic book released with the Wal-Mart deluxe DVD version of Iron Man, Howard Stark created the technology for the shield, and Tony Stark used a discarded prototype to help design the alloy used for his armor.

Thought it was interesting.

Mr. Earle

- Stark with his shirt off, fear in his eyes, looking in the mirror at his chest. Black veins are spindling out from all around the energy battery in his chest. It seems like it has become infected, or his body is rejecting it.
In the comics, he has heart surgery and his heart is healed and he no longer needs the battery. From then on, the suit's chest battery takes any shape Tony wants. Maybe this is the point when Tony takes the battery off, and therefore he can change its shape in the suit to the inverted triangle.

Don't like the dad details that are cropping up. I wanna watch a movie about Tony, not another inventor. I like making Anton Vanko, the original Crimson Dynamo, Ivan's father, but leave it there for Chrissake.

It is about Tony. But he has father issues and there is probably something his father invented that he needs. Some technology, maybe the super soldier serum?
In any case, i like it a lot personally. I am a sucker for flashbacks, and dealing with the legacy of one's parents.

For God's sake, don't start saying I have footage! 1. I DON'T. 2. You know what the Hype is like in these situations:

"I think he recorded footage" gets translated into "He has recorded footage."

"He has recorded footage" gets translated into "He told us he's going to show us recorded footage."

Then all of a sudden I'm getting called a liar for "Promising everyone I'd show them footage" when I don't have it, never did have it, and never said I have it.

My report was not remembered line for line. I paraphrased some lines here and there, and have certainly forgot some parts. I was just trying to be as detailed as possible in my recollection to help you guys. But I assure you, I recorded nothing. I wouldn't do that, though I saw others doing it.

The moderator requested that people not record footage, as it might dissuade the studios from sharing exclusive material with Comic-Con in the future. "Please show consideration, etc etc." But while he was saying this, I saw one guy using a handheld camera, and another was blatant enough to set up a f***ing tripod in the middle of the floor and mount his camera on it. So unless these guys were stopped on the way out, or are just keeping the footage for themselves, a leak could still very well happen.

Hawkeye was reported by CHUD I think. I am pretty sure he isn't in the movie though.

There's no point to having Hawkeye in this movie. I'm sure they probably tried to fit him in, but in the end that's all it would have been - an obvious attempt to shoe-horn him in. When he does show up(and I'm almost certain he will at some point) in these movies, he should be there for a better reason.

In the Ultimate Universe Hawkeye's affiliated with S.H.I.E.L.D. It wouldn't be that much of a stretch to have Tony meet some of the super-people that Nick has in mind for the Avengers.

Agree.

My theory is if Hawkeye is in the film then it would be a small cameo, such as his name being said, seeing his name, or you see the back of his head and he's shooting an arrow. To me tht sounds bout right, but no way he will actually be in it.

Whiplash will be as much as a threat as Joker was In "The Dark Knight" The footage at Comic Con showed his ablilty. Rourke is going to give a great performance. I got to see footage at Comic Con...Keyser was able to describe the footage EXACTLY how it sounds.

I think saying Whiplash will be as dangerous as the Joker from TDK is not correct. Yeah itll be a good performance but no other comic book villain will be as amazing as the Joker was in TDK. You cant compare the two. Ledgers was an oscar worthy dark and serious performance, i dont think Rourkes would be like that.

What I meant is how Joker was a threat to batman and how Whiplash will be as much as a threat to Iron Man. Im not saying performance or anything like that. I meant as a THREAT wise. Because...Honestly....Iron Monger yea he was cool and everything...but not menacing. From the footage that was shown at comic con. Whiplash is a bigger threat that iron monger was.

Yeah, I think Whiplash wil be a major threat to Ironman. I mean that in the sense of Whiplash's motivation. With him it's personal. It's vendetta-level personal because he hates Tony and his father and that makes for a very dangerous opponent.

With Iron Monger, Stane made a cool, calculated decision. He needed Stark out of the way. Vanko wants to destroy Stark and everything he stands for.

If he's looking into his past. He's obviously looking for information about his dad, maybe Captain America.

Maybe his dad has Captain Americas shield stored away?

I actually found Stane at times to be more threatening than Iron Monger, if you know what I mean. Anyway, I agree that Whiplash ought to be a bigger and more frightening threat.

Yeah, I totally get that! To me, Obidiah Stane was a more compelling villain than Iron Monger, just like Emil Blonsky was more compelling than The Abomination. That's because, no matter how advanced special effects get, they're still no substitute for a great performance, especially when said performances are coming from folk as gifted as Jeff Bridges and Tim Roth. That's why I kinda hope Whiplash DOESN'T evolve into Iron Monger or whatever. I'd rather have more time enjoying Mickey Rourke's performance.

Hey guys here is the news that came along the photo by Aesop

by randy ma

loved "iron man?" so did we, of course--and we thank every one of you who helped make it one of the biggest movies of 2008.

Now with the may 7, 2010 release of "iron man 2" less than 10 months away, expectations and anticipation for the sequel are growing exponentially.

One of the men responsible for meeting all of those expectations is marvel studios president, kevin feige. Last month, marvel studios invited select press outlets to visit the set where we got a firsthand introduction to the film from feige himself. Here's what we learned!

"iron man 2" will concentrate on two major themes: The fact that the world now knows tony stark (robert downey jr.) is iron man and the complex relationship between tony and his father, howard stark.

The plot centers around a worldwide energy crisis requiring tony to investigate his father's past work. This forces tony to look into the stark expo, an equivalent to the world's fair, where the greatest minds would congregate to showcase new developments in technology.

Will we get to see howard stark in action? Feige said there were no plans to cast the role, but fans can expect a comparable presence to the first film-where tony's father will be referenced by the press and appear in newspaper and magazine clippings. As feige explained, tony will be chasing the ghost of his father instead of revisiting him in flashbacks.

As anyone who has seen the first film knows, unlike other super heroes, iron man does not have a secret identity. This was revealed in the cliffhanger closing to "iron man." the repercussions to that ending will play a major role in the sequel.

"it's sort of like being a celebrity," described feige.

That "celebrity" aspect will have a major effect on tony's relationships between pepper potts (gwyneth paltrow) and colonel james rhodes (don cheadle).

Add contending with the major villain in "iron man 2," rival industrialist justin hammer (sam rockwell), to the strained relationships with his friends and tony will face odds on two fronts both in and out of costume.

With so many things happening on so many different fronts, will tony have any assistance this time around? Rhodey fans, here's what you've been waiting for:

"war machine will be in the film," feige confirmed.

Plus, iron man will mingle with other marvel favorites.

"we definitely have more of s.h.i.e.l.d. In the movie," teased feige. "agent coulson (of s.h.i.e.l.d.) is back and the organization will play a much larger role than before."

feige was hesitant to spill the beans on the reappearance of the director of s.h.i.e.l.d. Nick fury (samuel l. Jackson), but made it clear that fury's role in "iron man 2" will be at least comparable to the first film.

Come back tomorrow for more from the "iron man 2" set as we learn more from the film's director jon favreau!

Don't care for S.H.I.E.L.D. getting "a much larger role".

The amount they had in the first film was perfectly fine I just hope it isn't too much.

This just in! I repeat This just in!

SPOILER**

I just recieved word from a pretty reliable source in Japan that attended the G.I Joe premiere, and what also premiered was the Iron Man teaser! I got a small description from the 34 second long teaser as well as a small cellphone picture of the end title as well so ya guys know its legit. The description is this: Theater cuts to black, then boom the star studded audience sees Iron Man using his repulsors in the air to slowly descend from the air to the ground, the in the background you hear Stark talking " I Am Iron Man, The suit and I are one" in a powerful voice as Iron Man is walking towards the screen, then boom Iron Man shoots his repulsors at the screen with his hand, then Iron Man 2 appears on the screen with 2010 appearing as well.

A pretty simple teaser and it sounds amazing, no video was taken as the security was tight, press was allowed after it premiered. Source says he only got in cause he was with a security guard. This is legit i promise you that! wow it looks like hopefully that teaser or perhaps a different one will premiere here in the states!

Oh please, I loved Heath's performance as the Joker like everyone else, but come on! Can you guys, PLEASE shut up?
If Heath didn't die, he and the Joker wouldn't be as praised as he is today. Probably wouldn't of even been nominated.
This may sound harsh, but its the truth.

and this ISN'T TDK forums, this is the Iron Man 2 forums, why do we always hear about how "No one will ever be better than Heath Ledger as the Joker"? How do you know that? What if Mickey Rourke died a few months before Iron Man 2 came out? That might change things.
