Iron Man had a teaser-trailer. This is a teaser-teaser.
They could at least put some Whiplash and Black Widow in it.

Just got this picture in, i think theyre using the same promotional style as the first film, with the smoke and what not. I also think this is full cgi.
My source also said this is after he lands from the air. It appears he examines his new suit, then walks towards the screen and shoots his repulsors

Sorry, DCNightwing, I don't believe you. I think it was wrong that people were abusing you the way they were, but all the same, you have little credibility as a source. You're running 0 for 2 as it is, from saying you were posting leaked footage only to back down, to posting inaccurate, fake-looking armor images. This isn't doing much to rebuild your reputation.

Fun Fact: Jon Favreau was approached by Marvel Studios to direct Captain America, but tough Iron Man was a more compelling character. :woot:
Son of Coul
07-30-2009, 05:13 PM
Yep, he wanted to do a Cap Comedy at first.
every time I'd see him he'd always grab me and we would talk for twenty minutes and I'd always ask him about "Captain America," this was long before Marvel broke off and became its own studio, so that was the one I was interested in, because I thought there were a lot of comedic possibilities with a guy who got frozen and then turned around and now is fighting for America. "Iron Man" has always been the flipside of "Captain America," representing maybe more pragmatic, darker aspects of America.

Not cool man, not cool... I've never understood why people constantly try to pass off fake manips or renders as legitimate promo pics. What do you gain from it? No matter how good the manip is (And this one is bad, it's a toy), people will eventually find out you were lying when the real thing comes out.

If that is the teaser, it sounds like they took the TDK teaser approach. Symbololic visuals (logo, or something) and dialogue setting the mood and theme and guiding the trailer. Which works quite well. !!
There is a word for that approach.
It's called "Announcement".
It's been around far longer then Batman Begins even was.
We are far any legit teaser. And what DC described would not be a legit teaser.
And I still don't buy into his bull.

I would rather assume i wouldn't get to see the comic con footage and if it leaked then be surprised instead of being sure i was gonna see bootlegged footage then 5 day later being surprised i still havent seen it yet.
I think the reason why none of the footage has gone up is because, at the con there were so many security there watching us in the crowd looking for cameras recording.
Also, they made it a huge thing right before the panel to not record the footage and post it on the internet.

Back in the spring a one of the IM2 production crew members gave a lecture at a school. The lucky people present were given an early look at the War Machine and more! Spoilers ahead.....
So today...
Tue Apr 14, 2009, 3:40 PM
We had an artist lecture in art today from one of my teacher's friends, Clark Schaffer, who's worked on a ton of movies, making scale models and props. He just got off working on Iron Man 2, and showed us some pictures from it, which were really impressive. He worked mainly on a suit they called the "Autopsy Suit," where the military has taken the suit and are dissecting it. He got to make all the inner workings of the suit, under the breastplate, legs and arms. He also showed us some designs they had for the War Machine helmet, and brought one of the plastic casts of the mask... I'm still having a total nerdgasm... You can see his website here (http://schail.com/)SOURCE:http://system-of-a-chris.deviantart.com/journal/

Totally disagree. If anything, I see Heath Ledger's Joker becoming UNDERrated in certain circles, as Heath's detractors (more often than not hardline Marvel zombies with a history of agenda-driven bias - not so much referring to you Aluchak as the folk who jumped to commend you for this post) tend to cling onto his death as an easy excuse for disregarding what was an inarguably great, iconic, near-universally acclaimed performance. Because God forbid a... gasp!... DC film get acknowledgement for having the best anything! How easy they forget that hyperbolic praise was being poured out for Heath's performance months before his death.
However, I do agree that if Heath hadn't died, he probably wouldn't have got the Oscar. Not that it wasn't an Oscar-worthy performance - it was. But it was an Oscar-worthy film, with Oscar-worthy direction, yet it got snubbed in both categories. The Academy is still pretty snobby about superhero films.

To be fair, The Joker did come up quite organically in discussion, with someone pointing out that a SFX-laden Big Bad like Iron Monger felt less threatening than a performance-driven villain like The Joker, and so they'd like to see Mickey Rourke go the latter route. It was folks like bossman550 who were tripping over themselves to battle against any kind of ambiguous reading of this implying Heath Ledger's Joker was better than Marvel's movie villains. And it was bossman who dredged it up again once people had moved back on-topic, bumping an old post to fawn over someone else trashing Heath's work.

Are you guys talking about this:
As the director of “Iron Man 2,” Jon Favreau serves as the guiding force behind the film. Watching him on set wearing a Hulk t-shirt, blue jeans, and moccasins, it becomes evident that the franchise is in good hands—those of a true a fan.
Favreau proved a major factor in "Iron Man's" blockbuster success and learned a lot from the previous film; he knows the stakes have been raised for its upcoming sequel. “Iron Man 2” takes place six months after the events of the first movie. Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) has revealed his identity as Iron Man to the world, a major development that must be dealt with.
“What would really happen if you do that?” Favreau asked rhetorically. “How do your enemies and friends react? How much attention do you draw to yourself? Fame in general has a good side and bad side…You get tremendous adulation and you become bigger than life in some sort of ways; and in other ways, you become John Lennon. He’s definitely living under pressure but he’s not introverted.”
Tony has dark days ahead of him. “Demon in a Bottle,” the seminal tale of Tony Stark’s battle with alcohol abuse told in the comics by David Michelinie, Bob Layton and John Romita Jr. in 1979, remains the quintessential Iron Man saga for many fans. Since plans for “Iron Ma 2” were announced, there has been speculation whether Tony’s alcoholism would make an appearance in the sequel.
“We do our own version of it,” Favreau explained. “There’s a lot of ways to deal with it.”
Favreau made it imperative that “Iron Man 2” keep with the first movie’s lighter tone, retaining Tony’s playboy antics and sharp sarcasm. This time around there’s a Cold War angle to the story and Favreau plans to integrate a tone of entertainment that harkens back to the James Bond films of the 1960’s.
“There’s lightness to Robert’s heaviness,” the director noted. “All that tension relief stuff was not written into the first film. When Tony says he wants a burger after he crashes into the desert and they find him, those were all opportunities we find and don’t pass up because that’s how we roll. We like to maintain the tone we’ve grown comfortable with.”
In an exciting piece of news, Favreau revealed that famed “Samurai Jack” creator and “Star Wars: Clone Wars” director Genndy Tartakovsky had consulted on “Iron Man 2.”
“When this thing started up I engaged him to come on board,” Favreau said. “He’s been working on this movie, mostly starting off putting together some storyboards, and then expanding to animatics, which expanded into pre-visualization and actually being a big collaborator with me.
“It’s been a really nice collaboration because we come from two separate ends of it. I learned from the first [film that] there is so much animation in a super hero film…It lets you be decisive early and organically get to the action sequence instead of filling holes, which traditional filming in CGI tends to be. [Tartakovsky] really impressed me every step of the way. Now he’s moving into territory he hasn’t worked on before, and that’s bringing a lot of action to the movie.”
When asked what fans could expect from the then upcoming presentation of “Iron Man 2” at the San Diego Comic-Con this year, Favreau said he realized expectations are high.
“This year 'Iron Man 2' will have just wrapped production by Comic-Con,” he noted. “Last time was our chance to really introduce Iron Man and now that that’s done hopefully this time we can concentrate more on the story.”
Stay tuned for Marvel.com’s final "Iron Man 2" set visit story as we get the scoop from Tony Stark himself, Robert Downey Jr. on Monday, August 3!

I consider myself a "Marvel Zombie" as well, since I began reading & collecting Marvel comics since '88 (stopped collecting except for TPB recently), and the only superhero I like from DC is Batman. But I do think Ledger gave an Oscar-worthy performance in TDK, I think The Academy would've ignored it because it came from a superhero movie, but his death made it virtually impossible to ignore. I'm glad that he did win it, because it is well-deserved, not because he died. People failed to mention that other post-mordum(sp?) performances did not win Oscars, such as James Dean with Rebel Without a Cause, so it's not ironclad that Ledger would've won with TDK.

I said already this doesn't apply to everyone, but noted that people with a history of partisan Marvel fandom often jump on the idea that people only like TDK's Joker because Heath died.
No, not everyone who doesn't think Heath Ledger's Joker is the greatest comic book movie villain is automatically a Marvel zombie. But, by the same token, not everyone who DOES think Heath Ledger's Joker is the greatest comic book movie villain is automatically giving a maudlin' sympathy vote, only pretending to like the performance out of pity over Heath's death.

Fans of last summer’s blockbuster film “Iron Man” who attended Comic-Con International in San Diego were given a rare chance to screen some exclusive clips from the upcoming sequel. Over seven thousand excited fans packed into Hall H last Saturday to see director John Favreau and his cast talk about their new movie and show footage that included the audience’s first look at Don Cheadle’s War Machine.
Beginning his career as an actor best known for his work in films like “Swingers,” “Very Bad Things” and “The Replacements,” Favreau made the switch to the director’s chair in 2001 with the independent film “Made.” But it was the 2007 mega-hit, “Iron Man,” where he also played Tony Stark’s chauffeur, Happy Hogan, that put Favreau on the map as a major director in Hollywood. Now with the films sequel, “Iron Man 2,” freshly wrapped and the possibility of directing and/or producing the Avengers film on the horizon, Favreau’s success shows no signs of slowing down.
CBR News had the opportunity to sit down and talk with the actor/director about “Iron Man 2,” introducing new characters, casting Mickey Rourke, the possibility of an “Iron Man 3,” and the prospect of working on the Avengers movie.
CBR: You just finished shooting “Iron Man 2” a few weeks ago. What’s it like coming to CCI so quickly after you wrapped and showing footage to over seven thousand excited fans?
JON FAVREAU: It was scary coming in. That’s the problem. Remember that Bugs Bunny cartoon where Daffy Duck drinks the gasoline, lights himself on fire, and it blows up and everybody claps? It’s like, what do you do for an encore? Like last time around we put it all out there because we had a lot to prove. Last time when we were here, we were the underdogs. If you remember, the first time I showed the stuff, everybody was waiting to see “Indiana Jones” and on the other side was “Star Trek.” They just stuck us in there and we knew that we had to fight our way to get attention because we were the runts.
This year it’s ridiculous, but even then there were hundreds of properties that were fighting for attention and to emerge as one that was talked about is not a small feat by any stretch. So we knew we had to show a lot of footage.
Several superhero sequels have fallen into the trap of introducing too many new characters and villains that distract from the main story. Did you avoid that problem on this film?
We had to walk a fine line. I think you’re good for number two. Two seems to be the charm because you got the origin story out of the way. You can add some complexity to it and you have room because you don’t have to tell the origin story to introduce new characters. When you get to number three you can get hidebound. You’re like a beached whale sometimes because you have so much story, you collapse under the weight of the complexity that you create.
We looked at the successful sequels that we liked. I’m not talking about “Two Towers” or films that are chapters based on novels like “Harry Potter.” I’m talking about true sequels. The two that we liked the most, this was [Marvel Studios executive] Kevin Feige and I talking, were “Wrath of Kahn” and “Empire Strikes Back.” Those are the two that we said, “They did it right. Now let’s look at what they did right.” There were so many others that didn’t feel as good as the first. For those two, what we found was that they really gave room to explore the characters, and the villain plotlines were very simple but the stakes were very high.
But the less you get bogged down in complexity, the more you can let the audience enjoy what they really like, which are the relationships. It’s putting yourself in the seat of the audience and saying, “What do they want to see?” I think they want to see more but you want to go bigger. You go from “Alien” to “Aliens.” Then you want to show them the characters that they’ve invested in, how they’ve changed and change those dynamics by introducing new characters that don’t just add to the action but throw the relationships into a little bit of a curve ball.
Tell us about the villainy of “Iron Man 2.”
We’re not feeling any pressure right now to rush to the whole Mandarin through-line. It’s still intact. We’re consistent with it. We know where it’s going but I think audiences are pretty sophisticated. I watched the whole first season of “Lost” and of “Heroes” not having to know everything about what was going on but I felt there was a consistency to those worlds.
So in this case, with Mickey Rourke [as Whiplash], we definitely did want to have an origin story. We wanted that origin story to shadow and mirror Tony because he’s introduced this technology into the world and how does that affect the world? We’re dealing with an arms race, that’s what “Iron Man” has always been. The thing about an arms race is, when you stop, the world doesn’t. You have windows of opportunity to change the world in good ways while all the bad forces are paralyzed. What happens when those other superpowers emerge? It changes your tactics. Iron Man is dealing with the results of his saying, “I am Iron Man” [at the end of the last film]. What that means is, to keep the world at bay with that new technology, how does he do that now with the emergence of Mickey?
How intense did the scenes between Robert Downey Jr. and Rourke get?
Mickey and Robert didn’t work together a lot and Robert had really gone out of his way to get Mickey involved. They were on the tour for the awards season last year together and they kept popping up at the same events because they were both nominated for Oscars. So Mickey was definitely very appreciative that Robert fought so hard to get him, as did I. So off-camera there was a lot of mutual respect and appreciation but of course on camera, they’re two strong forces that definitely squared off against one another.
What did new cast members Rourke and Scarlett Johansson bring to the Iron Man film mythos?
Well, Scarlett [as the Black Widow] not only works us towards the Avengers but also changed the dynamic between Robert and Gwyneth [Paltrow, who plays Pepper]. One of the other traps you don’t want to fall into is just repeating the same dynamics and turning it into “Hart to Hart.” You don’t want it to be “Moonlighting.” You don’t want to have the same thing over and over again. It’s not a television series. It’s a movie so you have to change things and you have to create a beginning, middle and an end so that it doesn’t just feel like an episode in a series of films.
With Mickey, I didn’t want to just have two guys in robot suits hitting each other again. I wanted to have a different type of villain that used the same technology, existed within the same framework and rules of our world, but that was going to present not just a challenge physically but also in how dark he was; how he’s related to and how his fate and Tony’s fate are connected.
“Iron Man” was so widely accepted by fans and critics alike, do you feel a lot of pressure to deliver a sequel that’s better than the first film?
I didn’t feel any pressure. Maybe I’m oblivious but the only pressure I feel is to the fans. Unfortunately, the way sequels work is that they market them and sell them based on the first one. If you have a successful film, they could run it into the ground and sell your second film based on the first one. So commercially, you have a safety net. The trick is, as a filmmaker and somebody who loves the movies that I make and the source material, I don’t want to fall into that trap. So the pressure is completely self-imposed. I want people to like this movie as much, if not better than the first one. That’s the game of chicken I’m playing but there’s a safety net knowing people will check it out. People stay away from our weekends with other movies and it’s going to get marketed well.
The success of the first one that I really appreciated wasn’t just that people went to see it, it was that people were charmed by it. We want to make a charming film that doesn’t lose track of what we did the first time around and that’s my job in bringing new cast members in that are consistent. It’s bringing an ensemble that can be stewards of their characters because we change stuff. Writing on these movies is something that’s a living, breathing thing and I want to give us the freedom that if we discover something in one scene, we can change a scene in the next act to support that.
Is it difficult building a sequel to “Iron Man” because you’re also trying to set up for an Avengers film as well?
Yeah, but I think that’s fun. I think it’s inevitable and “Avengers” might be the thing that helps rescue us from the sequel slump that you get into because you’re throwing everything on its ear. It might be a failed experiment or it might be something wonderful, but it allows you to add complexity in an organic way. Where you’re culminating with something bigger as opposed to trying to play out and not repeat the same story over and over again.
Is the current thinking that “Avengers” will be the third film in your series or will there be an actual “Iron Man 3?”
There’s an “Iron Man 3” and here is how I know. When they make the option deals they include “Iron Man 3” so I know they’re planning on three. Whether that would be before or after “Avengers,” I don’t know. They’ve announced that “Avengers” is next but they pushed back “Avengers” once, which I thought was encouraging.
Is it encouraging because it gives you more time to breathe?
It does. And my involvement has yet to be determined on that project. Remember, you have to take into account what “Thor” is and you don’t know that until the film is locked. You’re not going to know about “Thor” for two years and what that really means. And “Captain America,” they haven’t even started prepping yet. So there’s a lot of discovery that has to take place before you can understand what “Avengers” really is.
What is your role in the Avengers process, such as it is?
We talk about it and really Iron Man is their flagship franchise right now that we’re making a sequel for. It’s the one that’s informing the others the most so I feel like I’m chopping my way through the jungle and “Avengers” will eventually be an oasis somewhere down the line. I’m pretty much hands-on day-to-day just on “Iron Man 2” but I think they’ll learn from what I’m discovering now and that will inform the next one.

Hey Redd , the suit you saw in the final fight was it the same we've seen from the Mark 4 , and is so is there a triangle arc
No, this is a different suit. The only thing that I can say about the suit (Without getting in trouble with my casting agency and Marvel studios) is that there is a Triangle chest piece instead of the circle one. The only reason I can say that much is because there was footage shown at Comic con and it was of the final fight. And it showed that suit.
People from SDCC, the scene that I am talking about is the scene where you see Iron Man in the sky and he is flying down and there are missiles shooting up at him. If you look close enough you will see the changes that I am talking about.

The only time i can talk about the movie is when I am on other movie/tv sets and I run into people that were on set with me.

Seriously I can't say anymore. Hopefully when the teaser trailer comes out I can say a little bit more.
It is killing me that I can't say anything. Man I could even quote back all the lines that RDJ and Sam Rockwell said for there lines in the movie. (I heard them so many times that I have them commited to memory). I even know how Rodey gets involved in the final fight scene and why he is even there.
Man I hope we get a teaser soon so I can talk a little more about this.
I need something to take my mind off this. I know! I'll consume all my time in the viral marketing! I have a feeling that it is going to kick off this weekend.
But don't quote me on that ^

I'd actually wager it has something to do with that "infection" or "rejection" of the arc reactor that was mentioned in the trailer synopsis.
That or Whiplash's whip's have a strange effect on the circular design, and Tony has to go back to the drawing board for the final battle.

Mb it's disappointing, but the sculpt of the armor is very cool and accurate to the movie or comic ones.
Too bad, that the 6inch line gets nothing in 2010. They were planning on releasing War Machine (The Avengers: Initiative Armor), Crimson Dynamo (Iron Man v1 #316 Armor), Titanium Man (Iron Man v3 #49 Armor) action figures, but something stopped Hasbro from releasing them...
+ they (Hasbro) planned lot's of repaint IM figures, which is sad btw.
So I hope, that everyone will like the new line, and I hope, that the price won't be $8, like for sh**ty Iron Man Armored Adventures figure!

The only thing I can think is after the credits we cut to a scene where Banner is possibly at the cabin he was in at the end of TIH and you have IM and WM fly in telling Banner he has to come with them and scene ends with Banner becoming the Hulk and bursting through the Cabin toward IM and WM! If my memory serves me correctly, we got our first full trailer after the Super Bowl.

I know this is the Iron Man boards, but this does include Iron Man so it still works here. Besides,....The Avengers Boards are dead. here is something that I have been working on for a while.

Channing Tatum = epic fail
Doctor Jones

No Channing Tatum. Good God, he's already miscast as Duke. Don't give the studio any ideas.
And is that Christopher Walken as Thor back there?

Will it be effective? I think it's way too early even for a teaser. Thanksgiving time is the right moment for teaser, Super Bowl time for trailer or refined teaser.

Hah, I was testing everyone with putting in Channing Tatum's name for Captain America. I see he is no no. So here one with what I think is a more suitable actor.

That strangley looks, unless I'm very much mistaken, like Howards' Rhodey at the back.
Which is a tad strange.
EDIT: just realised - they're the toys from the 1st movie. Thats not War Machine and Black Widow, it's the various marks of IM armour plus Iron Monger and Pepper.

Um brian thats not Pepper at all, look at the outfit and look at the still of BW from IM2 its the same, thats War Machine in the Corner.

Granted, I dont know why she wearing trousers but that's not BW, its Pepper. And its clearly not War Machine - armours all wrong. Look at the helmet - its Iron Monger. Stabding next to Howards Rhodey.
They are toys from the 1st movie.
