I wanted to see what you guys would do.
You have $200 million dollar to make a new movie. This doesn't have to be a superhero movie. If you were given the money to make a movie, what would you do?

As I covered on the latest podcast (coming out shortly) I would do BattleTech.
I am not entirely sure where in the BattleTech timeline I would cover.
The BattleTech universe has such a political intrigue to it, it might be a fascinating task to try to start a movie, that encompasses the lives of the numerous House lords...Steiner, Davion, Kurita, Lao, etc...
Not sure if that would work out, but it would be a fascinating experience. I would do it where its something akin to Dune...where it comes out in 2 hour intervals encompassing a timeline of years.
Plus....bad-ass mech fights for invasions would be an awesome scene to see...
Now I dont know if I could do it for 200 million...but I would try.

Er, I have never heard of BattleTech. And I'm a nerd into most of the culty sci-fi genre.
I said the likes of Avengers, Justice League and X-men in the other thread.
For $200m you want "epic". There's probably some good epic sci-fi novels out there (that I've never read).
But this is a comicbook movie board so I'm going to go for a TMNT vs Power Rangers vs Thundercats vs GI Joe vs Transformers vs GoBots vs MOTU. That'd be epic........ :)

BattleTech is based off a TableTop roleplaying game...with miniatures.
Came about in the 80's
Want to read a cool timeline if you are interested, check this out

For $200 million (at least), I would make one of the following:
Dragonlance Chronicles (three films - I need more $, please!)
Avengers/X Men crossover (with the X cast from the previous films - no reboot)
another Firefly/Serenity film (easily done for $200 mil, could maybe even squeeze in two films for that)
Spiderman/Hulk - Tobey and Edward
Jericho - the movie (start a series of films with the TV cast, also easily done for $200 mil)
Defenders of the Earth (so much potential there!)

Those two I DEFINATELY would love to see!
Comic related, I'd make a Wonder Woman movie. Non comic related, but still geeky adventure cool, I'd make a live action Pirates of Dark Water film.

That would be badass
I guess I'd make a Six Pack movie or a sequel to Firefly/Serenity. But I don't know if it would be worth it without Wash. :csad:

Fire, that is an absolutely awesome idea! :) So good. I love those game, especially if they were to follow the tone of Metroid Prime 3.

Serious answer: an adaptation of Peter Benchley's The Girl of the Sea of Cortez. Check out the book if you're unfamiliar, it's great!
However, I'd also love to produce a live-action adaptation of Marvel's Sleepwalker:

He's unique, has a cool look and isn't so popular that revisions would draw the cries of a billion fanboys. Plus, with a visually inventive director, those dream-scape scenes could be stunning.

Sleepwalker was interesting.
DC's Katana, and a movie about Superboy (Conner) would be among my finalists as well.

I would bring the Doc Savage novel "Land of Terror" to the screen. It's set in the early 30's....Doc finds a volcanic island in the south Pacific that is populated by dinosaurs.

I would make Marvel 1602. or a sequel to Speed Racer.
Or Marvels. I'd love to do a 1960s Marvel period piece.

Gundam Wing
