I dont know how many threads dealing with this, but ill throw down a new one.

Since the release and big hit of Iron Man the movie, has there been any talk about the series being released on DVD? We finally found a breakthrough with X-Men: TAS, and when Fantastic Four came out we got those.

I liked the show, i tend to re-watch it when its on Toon Disney or whatever channel is playing it, it stuck to some of the comic stories pretty well for being a cartoon limited by restrictions in the 90's.

Plus, that mullet...

Reruns are on Disney XD now.

I mean the animation looks seriously dated these days, but the second season was some pretty good stuff. I mean it even feels like the movie lifted some dialogue directly out of the series.

I agree, the second season was easily the best of the two, season was just horrible, no other way to put it, but season two made up for that, as for a DVD set, there are bootleg versions, but Marvel has been very quite about releasing the series on DVD.

I dont think the dialogue really sounds like the movie stuff, the first season was rough, but that second season was great.

Just sucks, that besides X-Men/Spidey, every other 90's cartoon only got a max of two seasons.

Well there was one line about Tony Stark using live bait when speaking to Homer which was exactly like Tony in the movie telling Jarvis, "Sometimes you have to run before you can walk."

I found the complete series brand new in a cool collected box for $8 in my local supermarket (I love in Europe) someone got the rights here in my country and chucked them out for cheap! In cool shrinkwrapped boxes!

I'm willing to bet Disney will do with this series what they did with X-Men TAS. I'm certain we'll get DVDs by the time Iron Man 2 is out.

About damn time they get released.

Now if someone could get someone to release the Captain America and the Avengers arcade game on XBox Live/Playstation Network and the Wii (whatever they have), I'd be a happy camper.

Like others have said already the 1st season was really bad but not as bad as Fantastic Four's 1st season and the exclusion of Stan Lee's intros was a good thing.

I love Stan Lee but not when he introduces every episode, since he can't say anthing bad about Marvel's animation and TV efforts all he can do is ham it up.

I got the dvd yesterday. Man I enjoyed the second season of the series, I would've love it even more if their were special features included in the dvd set like they did with Transformers series and heck maybe even a free movie ticket to see Iron Man 2 in theaters just like in the Toy Story dvd/blu-Ray set .

It would have been impossible to have a movie ticket for IM2 with the DVD. Disney owns the series, Paramount doesn't.

So there's nothing in the special features explaining the massive tonal shift from season 1 to season 2? Drat, what a missed oppurtunity.

You can get a free movie ticket by buying the AC/DC soundtrack at Target.

That's Disney's middle name when it comes to doing animated series DVDs.

When I see the scenes with The Mandarin and Modok together, I'm reminded of Shredder and Krang in TMNT, for some reason:yay:.

So, I recently borrowed the DVD from a friend and...still don't care for this series.

I don't care for the first season much, but the second one is alot of fun.

The first season has to be one of the worst cartoons ever made, though I'd rank the first season of the 90s FF cartoon below it.

The second season of both of those, however, are great.

The 1st season of the FF show and this show are AWFUL. I must agree. The 2nd seasons anger me because they were SO good. I am sad they didn't keep going :csad:

While I am glad this is now available, the FF set is a much better overall collection. This set cuts out the Stan Lee intros, while the FF DVDs had them.

I am glad these 90's shows are coming out now though. I really badly want The Incredible Hulk from the 90's to come out now, too. That show's 1st season is fantastic! Though the 2nd season sucks. Spider-Man I would buy, but it is in some ways my least favorite of these shows. It got a lengthy run, but the animation was sloppy. The animation in the X-Men, 2nd FF season, 2nd Iron Man season, and Hulk were much better. Silver Surfer, too.

I just got the series and man am I pissed. :cmad:

I watched the last few episodes and the very last one, Iron Man got a completely new armor.

Damn I wish this could've gone on for at least another season, I would've love to have seen more of that new armor.

The first season has to be one of the worst cartoons ever made, though I'd rank the first season of the 90s FF cartoon below it.

The second season of both of those, however, are great.

The first season of Iron Man was bad because:
*There was no recurrent theme or arc. It seemed like episodes always involved Tony Stark having a new invention that the Mandarin wanted, Iron Man and Force Works soon intervene against Mandarin's goons, and the day is saved. It felt like a reprisal of Super Friends, Masters of the Universe or any other '80s era action figured geared cartoon. It looked especially bad because at the same time, X-Men over on Fox was able to appeal to both kids and adults.

*Virtually no character development. We have virtually little insight about Tony Stark's genius or his personal demons (outside of the two part "Origin of Iron Man" episode). In fact, the idea that Tony's Iron Man suit is like a life support system is pretty much nonexistent. Also, we don't really know anything about Force Works (other than they're around to sell more toys and provide Iron Man with backup against the Mandarin and company), why they work with Tony and how they came to be. Also, why is Justin Hammer (an evil mastermind in his own right) working with the Mandarin, other than they both dislike Iron Man?

*The animation (provided by a Canadian company called Rainbow Animation Group) left a lot to be desired. In order to save costs, stock footage was routinely used. Also, the primitive CGI sequence of Tony Stark putting his armor on was extremely out of place (it was basically an attempt to display something "cool" to the little kids watching) and oft-putting.

*The voice acting could be very inconsistent. For example, there are occasions in which War Machine's voice goes back and forth to being provided by James Avery and Jim Cummings (who otherwise provided the voice of MODOK). Scarlet Witch talks like Arianna Huffington, Hypnotia talks like a breathless bimbo, Mandarin talks like a cliched, maniacal madman, it just seemed very unpolished most of the time.

*The writing at times, even for a comic book based cartoon makes little sense. For example, in one episode, Iron Man is able to recharge his suit to full power just with the aid of small tape player.
