"Batman and Robin team up again, but it's not like it always was -- there was a reason Robin left to go work on his own. As Crazy Quilt comes after Robin for revenge, all the dirty laundry comes out between the dynamic duo!"
The episode was written by Todd Casey and directed by Michael Chang.

The voice cast includes Diedrich Bader as Batman and Solomon Grundy, Jeremy Shada as young Robin, Jeffrey Tambor as Crazy Quilt, Green and Red, Sean Donnellan as Blue and Cranford Wilson as Robin.
Airing: May 22

Short pause ...hold your breath for the Dynamic Duo! :applaud

Ohhh I am very excited for this! I hope we get some "back to back" Adam West, Burt Ward style fighting.

I wonder how old they'll portray Robin. Kind of wish they were using a cooler villain other than Crazy Quilt for the episode. Riddler would've been cool against the dynamic duo!

I'm fine with Crazy Quilt as the main villain. He has some history with Robin in the comics, and I'm glad they are actually fleshing out the "cameo villains" in the show.

As long as we see Batman and Robin kick ass, even for one episode, it should be awesome.

Thanks foir the sweet clips, Drz.

Great action. The Robin costume redesign is blod, but I'm not really digging the yellow pants. Dick is also older than I imagined he'd be. The possibility of Nightwing doesn't seem as remote as I once thought.

It's not a redesign, it's the Earth-2 Robin costume.

Whats with having Grundy in 2 teasers in a row?

Mister J
05-12-2009, 07:07 PM
There's another ep before this one with no Grundy, but I get what you're saying. I suppose he could be a bit part of the main Crazy Quilt plot, but I've seen nothing of it. Maybe they're going for a little more continuity in arcs and leading up to something. *shrugs*

I remember director Ben Jones once hinting at "some story arc of sorts" during the second season. I'm guessing it either has something to do with Equinox or the Outsiders.

OH I got no problem with it just curious. Hey I am all for more continuity....

Next we just need an episode with Bats, Robin and Batgirl....

Grundy doesn't appear in the teaser, he's like the second cold open that Cavalier and Top were. I'm guessing flashback Robin is the teaser.

Yeah! I can't wait for this episode! I've been waiting to see Robin on this show since the first episode. I've been an oldschool Robin fan since I was very little.

And to be honest, I'm glad they're going with the green undies no pants look on Robin for the flashback. Some people might have been happy not seeing that at all. But the look just reminds me of being a Robin fan when I was kid. Back before I knew what words like jailbait, gay, and pedophile meant. Even today I don't look at it like that, I just see it as outdated and silly. But I'm all for nostalgia and silver age awesomeness that this show does so well!

I just hope this episode has some nice refrences to the Adam West show, this is likely to overtake 'Dawn of the Deadman' as my favorite episode so far. That is until next week :yay:!

I absolutely loved this episode!
Spoliers.......................................... ..................................................

I loved the nods in the beginning to the 60's tv show! the Bat phone, the Bat poles, coming out of the Batcave. Robin's kid utility belt looks like Burt Ward's belt from the series.

The Earth 2 Robin costume on a young adult Grayson! awesome! One of my top favs of the series!

I really like the way Crazy Quilt was handle. He was no Fool but an actual dangerous foe for our Heroes.
Also like the voice for CQ. Not sure who did the voice.
Credits go by so fast and are so tiny because as usual CN promote "Clone Wars".

Love the Homage to the 60's live-action show in the teaser.
Robin's adult voice sounded a little off to me. Maybe if it had been a little deeper and snide sounding.

Overall a solid episode.

The 60's live-aciton show homages were awesome, and Robin was a ENJOYABLE character, wow that took along time to accomplish after B:TAS succeeded with it. Also Crazy Quilt was a good villain, and the episode was pretty serious tuned and not so much humour on it outside the puns. :p It didn't have that crazy show energy as the plot was just... really good to be honest.

Good stuff last night. I, too, noticed that the plot was a little more serious in tone than usual, but still balanced with some fun. I expected over the top zaniness with Crazy Quilt involved, but what we got was preferable.

Loved the 60's homages! I must have replayed the Bat-Phone/Shakespeare head/Batpole/Batmobile sequence 5 times over before I got to the rest of the ep.

Another Robin appearance in certainly in order. If for nothing else than to get him back into that sidecar. :D

Amazing episode overall but my absolute favorite part aside from seeing the Shakespeare bust statue was when Batman was trapped and Robin was like "before I save you" and he goes off on a little rant then says "I'm just as good as the great Batman" or something like that and then he turns around to realize that Batman has already escaped from the trap he was in. LOL that was comedy.

For the teaser, we take a look back at memory lane as Batman and a young Robin defeat the criminal Crazy Quilt, who is blinded at the end of their fight. It's all fun and games with the old Dynamic Duo, unaware of what will happen years for now.

Robin, now older and more independent, guards the corrupt city of Bludhaven. However, he becomes displeased when Batman comes after hearing Crazy Quilt has escaped from Arkham Asylum. Quilt, now driven insane with revenge against Robin, lays traps for him and obtain his revenge. Crazy Quilt was actually threatening. I know his gimmick is goofy, but the way he was handled as a deranged maniac with dangerous technology, I thought he was well don. Jeffrey Tambor voicing him also helped.

As for Batman and Robin, I do agree it is weird how some people have different prespectives from Batman and Robin. While they could have made Robin a little less whiny, I'm glad they did not hold back on their strained partnership. I know this is weird in a lightharted kids show, but it would have been very weird to see them all happy, yet separated. I think The Batman actually handled it better, where Batman and Nightwing were separated, but had mutual respect for each other.

I also enjoyed the little humor in this episode, especially Batman dissing a blind person, Batman unknowingly repeating everything Robin said, and the end with Robin still angrily riding the sidecar. Brat got what he deserved! And a Killer Moth mention.

NEXT WEEK: Batman and Ace the Bat-Hound hunt down and fight doppleganger Catman and his pet tiger. Then, Batman deals with Bat-Mite, an interdimensional nerd and huge Batman fan. From creating monsters, to upgrading minor villain Calendar Man, Bat-Mite causes the Caped Crusader many troubles and headaches

What else can I add that really hasnt already been mentioned? The opener was amazing. The 60's homage was great! I love how they even had the proper engine sound when the Batmobile sped off. Truly a 10 out of 10 for the entire episode.

I want more Robin! This episode showed us what an entire series based on Batman & Robin and their rogues can do in this style!

Awesome episode, the opener was brilliant, and they actually made Crazy Quilt a threatening villain!

Love the references in this ep:
-60's homages: Opening music, Batphone, Shakespeare secret button, Batpoles, Adam West cave exit, "Holy *insert here*", "Gosh!", ridiculous Bat-death trap etc
-Speedy and Aqualad mentions
-"It's on the corner of Haney and Aparo!" The team behind the original comic.
-Bludhaven!
-"Once a Grayson, always a Grayson!"
-And a FREAKING Killer Moth mention! YES!

So yeah, definitely one of the awesomest eps.

Loved the episode--did good on the relationship between Dick and Bruce, and actually made Crazy Quilt, of all people, a credible threat.

Only problem? Robin's grown-up costume. I think they should have just ditched the yellow completely. Though, considering Robin's previous costume history, it could have been a lot worse:

Ugh,i remember seeing that costume in a book, did Robin wear this long? Didn't the Earth-2 Robin have another horrible look before his final cool suit featured in the show? tell me that's a custom figure! That's Wonder-man level BAD. Good job on it if it is a custom by the way.
I liked the main Earth-2 costume featured in the show,of course, anything Earth-2 is alright by me.

For me personally, its brining a fresh take from what we've been presented in recent years. I always liked the retro styles of Batman, so the designs really appeal to me. I also like how they are giving us things from the entire 70 years of batmans history. Its just a fun show, not too serious, and not too goofy. It has a little bit of something for everyone.
