Green Lantern is getting a DVT movie and a Live-Action movie, so, a cartoon wouldn't be unlikely. And since I'm a big fan, I mapped out a 24 episodes first season of a Bruce Timm style cartoon. Here are the first three episodes (I'll update from time to time):
1. Emerald Dawn - Part 1.
At Ferris Aircraft, a young boy called Hal Jordan watches his father, test pilot Martin Jordan, flying an experimental Jet. With him, there's Carl Ferris, Martin's boss and best friend, and Carl's daughter, Carol, Hal's crush. Suddenly, Martin's plane malfunctions, and explodes before Hal's eyes. Hal wakes up. He's an adult now, and he was having a nightmare. He realizes he's late for work. He's a test pilot, just like his father, and works for Carol, who's the new president of Ferris Aircraft. Hal and his friend, Larry Trainor, will pilot two experimental jets in a demonstration. Hal is know for being reckless, so, his friend, mechanic and programmer Tom Kalmuka, warns him not to show off with the Jet, because it's not done yet. Hal "agrees". The demonstration proceeds, and it's a sucess. Larry lands, but when Hal's landing, he decides to make one last maneuver and, because he was showing off, the jet malfunctions and Hal's forced to eject, causing a million dollar damage to Carol, who loses the investidors interest. Carol is furious, and suspends Hal for a month. He tries to explain himself, but she's too angry to listen. He gets frustrated and goes to the hangar to think. He's sitting on a simulator when a strange green light circles arround him. It envolves the simulator and takes off to the desert. Hal, amazed, but not scared, hears a voice, comming out of the radio, talking about the last moments of Sector 2814's Green Lantern. The simulator lands, and Hal spots a damaged ship. He comes closer, and finds out it is a spaceship. Inside, Abin Sur says he's dying, and the power ring choose Hal as his sucessor. The episode ends with Hal seeing Abin for the first time, as he asks: "Hal Jordan from Earth. Do you accept this duty?"
2. Emerald Dawn - Part 2.
Hal is amazed, and says that, if he's not dreaming, he accepts. Abin tells him he must recharge the ring in the battery every 24 hours, and he's now a member of the Green Lantern Corps. With that, he dies. Hal listen to the simulator's radio, and finds out Carol is sending F-16 to investigate, so, he burns the spaceship with Abin in it, so, no one will discover. Back at the Tarmac, Larry questions and Hal says he accidently activated the simulator. Larry states the Simulator doesn't fly, but Tom says he upgraded before Carol's back, who also suspends him, for a week. Hal is thanked, and shows Tom the ring and the battery, telling the whole story. Tom is amazed. As they talk, one of the jets malfunctions due an interference and Hal uses the ring to save it, manifestating the uniform. Tom tells him to make a mask so no one will reconize him. He does. He lands the jet and Carol stops him to question, but he flies off, saying he's "The Green Lantern" with a smile on his face. In the shadows, a dark figure observes. It's Legion, and he caused the interference. He's also the one who murdered Abin Sur by damaging his ship. And now, he's targetting Hal Jordan. Hal goes to Coast City, hoovering over town and amazing the citizens, when he's knocked down by a yellow blast. Legion is attacking. Hal dodges another blast and points his ring, but it doesn't work. Legion laughs, saying Hal's ring doesn't work on yellow. He's helpless.
Emerald Dawn - Part 3.
Legion is prepared to destroy Hal, but Hal uses his ring to explode a truck, confounding Legion. Hal dodges more attacks, and uses the ring to create force fields and throw things against Legion, but nothing harms him. Hal fears the fight will cause civilian casualities, so, he flies off. Legion tries to follow him, but Hal creates a jet and crashes it against a montain, burrying Legion underneath it. Hal is flying when the ring fails. It's running out of energy. Hal goes back to Abin Sur's crash site in search for the battery, and finds it against the debris. He puts it against him and the oath comes to his mind. He charges his ring and gets full power. As he's "testing" the habillities, he overhears an explosion. It's in Ferris. Hal goes there. Legion got out of the debris, and, since Hal's energy source was too weak to be followed, he went to his "birthplace". GL fights Legion again, to save his friends, who are in danger. Hal's better, but he doesn't stand a chance with the rings weakness. So, he makes up a plan. He signals Tom, who slips out and goes to the hangar. Then, Hal provokes Legion, causing him to get angry. He follows Hal to the hangar, where he meets Larry's experimenal jet, powered by a small reactor, along several other. Hal blasts all of them, causing a big explosion, while he creates force fiels arroung everyone. It worked. Legion is defeated. Almost. With his last forces, he crawls out of the fire and menaces Carol. Hal concentrates one blast on Legion's armor chinks, and destroys him. Carol is send flying to her death, but GL saves her, before going away again. Carol remembers Hal, but he reappears, saying he went to Coast City have lunch and saw the whole thing on TV while heading there. She's suspicious, but the damages distract her. Hector and Tom shake hands. They make a good team. One week later, Carol is alredy reconstructing the damaged areas of Ferris Aircraft, and Hal is working as a mechanic alongside Tom while he's suspended. Tom's radio goes off, revealing there's a bank robbery in motivon. Hal smiles, as he slips off the tarmac, suits up and heads to Coast City impeach it. He's now the city's superhero: The Green Lantern. Meanwhile, in a big planet called Oa, on the Green Cidadel, the Guardians of the Universe rant about Abin's death and his sucessor's recklessy in not going to Oa for training. They say he must be brough in, no matter what it takes. We pan to reveal Sinestro, still a Green Lantern, making sure he'll find him and bring it. No matter what it takes.
