Yeah, when I was younger, the wait for these films seemed to take an age, but now it feels as if they come along, well, i wouldnt say fast per se but certainly production seems quicker than it used to.
Anywhoo, on a different subject, anyone else's 'Subscribed threads' folder been wiped, or is it just me?

I just realized:
How is it that we can post set pictures in the Green Lantern thread, but not in the Thor thread? The only reason Destroyer pics were really banned was probably because of the anti-bootleg attitude towards Thor information brought about by the rapid succession of the bootleg after-credit scene and the set pic.
Set pics can be posted for other films, but not Thor?
TheCorpulent1
05-06-2010, 06:37 PM
It's only set pics of a particularly spoilery nature. Are the GL set pics just mundane stuff? I mean, if someone posted a leaked picture of Hector Hammond in full makeup and everything, that should be reported and taken down. Regardless, I don't personally know what goes on in the GL forums. I don't really go there because I'm not particularly excited for the movie.

Ugh. Just noticed on the front page that Marvel wants to make Thor, Captain American and Avengers in 3D.

I read the article and don't see anything about them confirming 3D for any Marvel movie. They said somewhere in the future. IF they wanted to release Thor in 3D, they'd have to convert it in post. I doubt they'll go that route, since the conversions don't seem to be very popular.
I don't think Cap or Avengers will be in 3D. Cap starts shooting at the end of this month. I think that decision would have been made by now and leaked.
Avengers could be done in 3D, but I think that film is already going to be crazy to make. Why tack on the headache of making it in 3D? I think it'll be enough to juggle the story and numerous characters.
Stick to the story and characters, Marvel. Leave the gimmicks for others.
TheCorpulent1

I'd love to see Avengers in 3D. That's still 2 years off, so they have plenty of time to plan it out and do it right. Thor and even Captain America might not be worth it, especially if they'd have to shoehorn it into Thor.

YEa i too saw the news article on main page and a few others about marvel studios thinking of doing 3d releases. Now kevin feige didnt say they were going to do it. Just they are looking into it. And if they did do it captain america and avengers would be shot in 3d since both are not filming yet. But since thor is wrapping up shortly it would have to be converted into post. Now i do hope they dont get into the whole 3d bandwagon and all that. I like it and all. But if it doesnt get done right it can look like crap. So hopefully if they do it they will take the time to do it right. But we shouldnt get to bent out over it yet. Since we dont know if it will happen or not yet.

I would be VERY dissapointed if they made Thor 3D in post. Post 3D is a HUGE hack and basically spits on the technology of live action 3D cameras. I honestly would not want to see any of these movies in 3D, I feel sometimes it takes away from the movie especially live action films (and especially when its done in post cough cough Clash couh cough).
Really the only 3D movies ill go see are ones that are CG. Saw How to Train Your Dragon in 3D and loved it.
Thats my take on 3D.
If these do come out in 3D Ill go see them in 2D....this fad needs to stop and quick. Some companies I feel now are using 3D as a crutch more then an added bonus. "Oh man we know our movie is going to suck but ITS IN 3D! COME SEE IT!"

Thor should not be converted to 3D, and ruin the movie like it did for COTT. I also hope they won't make Capt. America 3D either, but if they want to do it for Avengers I won't be opposed to it. However, with all those actors, F/X, and CGI in the movie, it will be even more expensive if they want to shoot it in 3D, and I'm not sure if Whedon is up to the task.

I don't see how since those three are the original and founding members of the team. The team wouldn't exactly exist if it weren't for those guys.
TheCorpulent1

Cap's not a founding member; Thor, Iron Man, Hank Pym, the Wasp, and the Hulk are the Avengers' founders.
Anyway, I'm not talking about the team's existence. I mean the Vision is more of an integral part to the family that the team evolved into. Long after most of the founders had left, the Vision stuck around in virtually every incarnation of the Avengers and provided stability. Plus, I personally think he's a great character.

Speaking of Hulk as an Avenger, everyone saw the monitors in the background of IM2 showing the campus scene of TIH correct? Is this safe to assume he WILL be involved in the Avengers movie. Cant really see him not in it. I think he brings a FANTASTIC dynamic to the Avengers team.

Oh man, I so hope they put the Vision in Avengers. He's the heart and soul of the team. He's more integral than Cap, Thor, and Iron Man to me. I would love to see them give him a liquid metal look for the film.
Vision would be cool but I wouldn't expect him in the first Avengers film, hopefully a sequel though. I can't believe they have a meaningless Avenger like Black Widow scheduled to appear before the Pym's, Wanda, Pietro, Hawkeye or Vision!

yea i rather they not do it post conversion for thor since we are close to finishing of production. I rather have it held off to avengers where it would be prime to do, cause it gives them the rest of this yr to look into the 3d processes and different types of cameras and seeing how things can go, and do tests and all that. To see if they want to do it and all that. Where as thor would be messed up doing it in post, and it doesnt really fit with captain america and being in the 1940s and all that. Plus joe johnston on cap has stated he wants to shot on 2d hd cameras and not 3d in the past. And i am sure with production starts in less then a month and a half they already have equipment locked and ready to go with. And going into it this close to production for cap could damper its filming. But at least feige only said they were looking into it and not officially saying marvel studios films will be 3d like wb has stated for their upcoming film slates for next few yrs.

So Feore should have no trouble with his fantasy role in Thor, the Marvel Comics movie extravaganza directed by Kenneth Branagh.
The frustrating thing, however, is he can't even tell us whether he's a good guy or bad in the much-anticipated superhero flick set for release next spring.
"Marvel hasn't allowed me to say anything," says the respected 51-year-old Stratford, Ont., thespian of stage and screen.
"I can tell you makeup took me five hours every day, and that made for a very long day," he adds as a teaser. "But Branagh is a genius at scheduling, so it worked out fine for me."
And what about the Thor story? His gag order extends to plot lines and previews, too. "It was a lot of fun to do," he finally says. "And I imagine it's going to be huge."SOURCE (http://www.montrealgazette.com/entertainment/Colm+Feore+range+knows+bounds/3014598/story.html)
So he's definitely not playing a human character

Not as big a Thor comic reader as you guys so, who do you think Feore's playing?
My best guess has always been a Frost Giant; either Ymir or Laufey, Loki's father.
But an idea just came to me this afternoon that makes more and more sense each time I think about it. Bear with me for a moment...
What if Colm Feore was playing Baron Von Strucker?
http://seat42f.com/images/stories/tvshows/24/Season7/colm-feore-24-season-7.jpg
http://www.**************.com/images/users/gallerypictures/11242L.jpg
Here's what I've been mulling over:
1. Feore said make-up took him five hours per day; that's the same amount of time it took Josh Brolin to put his similar Jonah Hex make-up on.
2. Feore is playing a secretive villain that was rumored from the start to be Earthbound, not otherworldly.
3. Sam Jackson revealed today that a S.H.I.E.L.D. movie will follow The Avengers. Strucker is the head of Hydra; S.H.I.E.L.D.'s nemesis.
4. Strucker is not only a villain of Nick Fury's, but Captain America. He even infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. at one point and worked with them for years without them knowing he was a spy (GREAT plot devise IMO)
5. The resemblance between character and actor is pretty good.
6. Though it didn't have any mention of Strucker in the leaked Thor scripts (of which I've read as well), surprise cameos such as this have usually been added in the Marvel films at the last minute.
Though I still think that Feore will most likely portray a Frost Giant, the Von Strucker idea does nothing but grow on me; like a rash.
What do you think?
Aeltri

I would say either Malekith or Ymir
I would lean (no pun intended) more toward the former because Feore's features are more like those of an elf than a giant to begin with. If they went with Malekith's typical costume they only had to worry about his hands, neck, face...and wig. To give you a better idea, it took SFX makeup artists an average of 8 hours (5 for the face and 3 for the body) to transform Luke Goss into Prince Nuada for Hellboy 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=23GO7pneie0
Chewy
05-11-2010, 10:21 PM
Another thing to keep in mind about Feore is that he was one of the very first actors cast. First Hemsworth and Hiddleston were cast, then Portman, then Feore and Alexander (then Skarsgard, then Hopkins, etc etc). He isn't going to be a fanwank character used only to set up future films, his casting was a priority and he'll be a major character in this

SuperHeroHype: After the big build-up in "Iron Man 2," are you totally pumped for Thor to hit theaters next year?
Chris Hemsworth: Absolutely! I just finished shooting last Thursday, and saw "Iron Man 2" the other day--which I loved--and saw the tag at the end. I was with a bunch of mates and we all got kind of giddy watching it. I can’t wait! It was such an incredible four months shooting that film, and I think the film’s going to be fantastic.
SHH: We’ve finally seen you in the costume. How did it feel to have the Thor costume on – the very first time, and for four months?
Hemsworth: [Laugh] Yeah, right! Okay, exactly – I put the thing on and said "It’s not very comfortable, but it looks amazing, so it’s all good." And then a couple of weeks in, I thought "It’s getting more and more uncomfortable," and at the end of three, four months it was a pretty difficult thing to wake up and put on every morning. But it’s sells such an image in the picture. It does a lot of the work for you.
SHH: And what was your take on Thor – how did you see him, as you wanted to play him?
Hemsworth: We just kept trying to humanize it all, and keep it very real. Look into all the research about the comic books that we could, but also bring it back to "Who is this guy as a person, and what’s his relationship with people in the individual scenes?" And working with someone like Kenneth Branagh, who has all those bases covered and has so many ideas, it was a hell of a time!
SHH: And lots of hammer training.
Hemsworth: [Laughs] Oh yeah!

The costume looks amazing. How did it look when you first tried it on? What did you think?
Chris Hemsworth: "Oh, it was crazy. I remember the first camera test and putting it on and going, 'Oh my god,' and then everyone who came and looked at it was like, 'Wow, this is a monumental sort of moment.' And standing in it was a very odd experience, you know? But it was beautiful. I mean, Alex Byrne designed the costume and they spent I think almost two years kind of leading up and building that thing and setting it up. It really paid off. The thing is incredible. It's not very comfortable, but…"
How can you move in that?
Chris Hemsworth: "You can't, really. We broke a lot of them. It's pretty restrictive. But it it's such a picture. Anthony Hopkinssaid to me in the camera test, we were both looking at each other's costumes and he said, 'God, there's no acting required here, is there?' And I thought, 'Absolutely.'"
Being cast as Thor, that's a huge weight on your shoulders. There are so many people expecting a lot out of you. How do you handle that?
Chris Hemsworth: "You know, I just finished – I wrapped on last Thursday – and I've been involved in that for eight, nine months, actually longer since I found out about it and the lead up, and the whole time it felt like I was kind of treading water to keep my head above water and not think about it. And then now I'm sort of sinking under, going, 'Wow, what a crazy experience.' But there was such a support group in that film. A lot of the producers have written comic books, written Thor comics. You've got Kenneth Branagh who's just a genius. And then Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman, Stellan Skarsgard…it's just an exceptional cast."
I was talking to Ray Stevenson and the word he kept saying over and over again was 'epic'. Does that describe what it was like on the set?
Chris Hemsworth: "Yeah, incredibly epic. That's funny. I kept saying epic when I came onto the film and they were all giving me digs about it."
Is there any particular scene that you're really looking forward to fans being able to see?
Chris Hemsworth: "Oh god, I mean the whole thing. The action sequences in this, Andy Armstrong and Vic Armstrong – the geniuses who have been doing stunts in this business for 20 or 30 years – did the stunts on this, and I've never seen anything like what they set up and all the stunt guys what they put together, wire gags but then also real hand-to-hand sort of combat. I mean incredible sets. Bo Welch built these sets and we hardly used any green screen. There were these big recreations of Asgard, this sort of sci-fi, Viking mixture."
So when you walk on a set like that, you actually feel like you're in…
Chris Hemsworth: "Oh, absolutely. The combination of the costumes and the sets it was like literally the work was done for you in a lot of ways, you know? It was sort of about less, less."
And are you ready for The Avengers?
Chris Hemsworth: "Look, I just sat down with the Marvel guys and Joss Whedon recently and talked about it. It starts next January, I think, or February, around that time we start shooting. And I think it's going to be a hell of a ride. When you bring in Iron Man and Captain America and whoever else they wrangle from the Marvel universe, it's going to be a hell of a film."
Are you going to stay in shape in between the films?
Chris Hemsworth: "Yeah, yeah. I'm not going to eat too much pizza and let myself go too much. A couple of weeks and then I'll sweat it off and get back into it."
I have to ask this as being a non-Thor person, am I going to understand the movie?
Chris Hemsworth: "Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. I mean none of us were… You know, I didn't grow up reading comic books and neither did Kenneth Branagh. So what we worked on was, yeah, we pay all the respect due to where its origin is, but also create a film about real people, real characters, and relationships between fathers and sons – Odin and Loki and Thor and the turmoil that exists there and what have you. That was what it always came down to. It simplified it. Yes, we have this amazing backdrop and the world of comics, but it was about people."
My camera person would kill me if I didn't ask you – the hammer, what's it like?
Chris Hemsworth: "It's incredible. I tried to steal it but they wouldn't let me. It's a beautiful piece of design, equipment, whatever… What would you call it? Weapon. No, it's incredible. It looks just like what they have in the comics with the engravings from Asgard."

Also:
"Look, I just sat down with the Marvel guys and Joss Whedon recently and talked about it."
Is that the first real confirmation from an Avengers actor that Whedon is actually the director? RDJ and the others were all, "IF he's the director, then..."

Out of all the interviews between RDJ, Favreau, Sam Jackson, Chris Evans, Norton, etc. Hemsworth seems to know the most what's up from his interviews. Other than Kevin Feige of course, but Hemsworth is more open about it. I like his interest and enthusiasm, the others are like "Oh yeah, that Avengers movie, that's a thing that's happening at some point I guess"

For Iron Man 2 I could see them keeping the footage under wraps, but after keeping all this reserved Marvel's got to want someone to whip out a camera to get the footage to build up some hype.
Unless they plan on releasing a teaser in September, which is very possible, as they've already wrapped shooting. It's not like IM2 where they finished literally a week before comic-con.

I hope the movie is over 2 hours. Its already villan heavy which I love, and it looks like it is going to be taken a little more serious than other Marvel movies.
I have a good feeling Thor is going to crush the competition especially if it gets positive critical reviews. The film will look superior to garbage like Transformers 3 and GI Joe 2. On the other hand the typical American movie goer likes that garbage.

Yes, there are always going to be people filming at Comic-Con. I recall last year, before Iron Man 2, the guy came out and pleaded with fans not to record any footage, as this was supposed to be a special treat for the people at Comic-Con, and the footage making its way onto the internet might put studios off sharing exclusive material with them in future. And while he's saying this, you see the digital cameras all blinking into life. One guy even stood up, walked out to the aisle in the middle of the hall, set up a F***ING TRIPOD, put his camera on it and started filming.
But still, while I do expect footage to leak, and I wouldn't blame people for watching it if it becomes available, what I am against is people demanding the footage be leaked, getting aggressive about it not leaking, attacking the people who went and didn't record footage and generally acting like they're entitled to see the footage. Things for pretty hostile last year on the Iron Man 2 boards, and this is what I said on the matter back then:
I know I'm a bit late for the argument, and I know my opinion won't be popular, but after reading through 30 pages of this thread to catch up on all the reactions since the trailer was unveiled at Comic-Con, I have to speak up.
I don't want the Comic-Con trailer to be leaked.
There has been a lot of people posting on here with an overwhelming sense of entitlement. Moaning about how long it's taking to see leaked footage, demanding leaked footage to be given to them sooner. I'm not accusing everyone, by any means, plenty of folk have just jokingly asked for footage. And I understand the desire to see the trailer. I certainly know that I wouldn't have turned down a chance to see that early leaked Dark Knight footage from WizardWorld. But I didn't EXPECT it, I didn't DEMAND it. I understood that seeing it at all would have been a mere bonus, an act of generosity, not something I actually deserved or was entitled to.
I saved up my money all year for Comic-Con. Between time on two seperate plane journeys and time spent in airports, I spent north of 20 hours on my journey from Glasgow, Scotland to San Diego, California. I went and waited in line Saturday morning, and sat in Hall H through the 4 panels preceding Iron Man 2 to be sure I had a seat for it, essentially giving over my whole day for the opportunity. I earned the chance to see that footage. I bought the chance.
So when someone who hasn't paid a penny, who hasn't taken a step away from their computer screen, gets all furious and pissy because they haven't been handed on a silver platter the footage I went through all this to see, it annoys me a little bit. If the footage gets leaked, sure, go ahead and watch it, enjoy it. Just don't act like you're entitled to it. That footage was a special treat for the people who put the effort into being in that room.
And that will generally be my stance for Thor and Green Lantern this year too.

Chris Hemsworth is now my favorite actor. I mean, this is the response of everyone else when asking about Avengers.
"Yeah, it looks like it's going well."
"Oh yeah, that's going well."
Hemsworth (in a nutshell):
"Actually, now that you mention it, a while ago I was talking with Joss Whedon and the other guys about it. It looks great."
He isn't dodging the questions. Hell, he's giving more information then the questions asked for.
He really, really interacts with the fans. He's honest, polite...wow.
Explain to me again why this guy is a minor actor? He seems like a fantastic person to be with.

That was very well put argument. I went to a convetion called Siggraph in June 2008 in LA right after Iron Man was released and they showed behind the scenes production focus's on how they created the Armor and what not. I do understand where are you coming from when it bugs you that people demand something when they didnt take the time/money out and go watch it themselves first hand.
I think your argument that people feel "entitled" is put best.

chauvinistic approach.
Most of the time those events are happening in California or somewhere else in the States. Approximately 99% of the comic fans do NOT live in California or anywhere near. I would say a majority doesn't even live in the US. Our possibilities to "go and watch it ourselves" is therefore restricted.

When I went to LA I went with friends and we all split a room. I was living in Florida which is on the other side of the U.S. Literally. This is not a comment I made living In LA where I can simply walk over to ComiCon or Siggraph or what have you. This took months in advance of planning and fund raising :oldrazz:
That isnt even my point though that I was trying to make. Im not saying if you dont go to these events you CANT SEE THE FOOTAGE OR ELSE! Im saying for the select few like posted above from Keyser Soze about people who p!ss and moan about not having the footage givin to them when they are sitting at home on their computers. Be grateful that stuff gets leaked to us at least. Some people just want a free ride and act like spoiled little kids that cant get icecream after dinner even though their friends do.

I wasn't one to complain about any footage, and I do agree with said points, but I am pissed that CC sold out in about 4 months, people who were there the previous year got first dibs at tickets for the next, and that there was no mention of ticket sales on any site I frequent. So when I went to purchase tickets for this year, I was already left in the dust. I had a whole vacation planned around CC and being in Cali, and it was ruined. I don't mind how they handle secret or special footage, nor do I really care if it leaks, but they could manage ticket sales better.

I live in San Diego and CC was pre-reging for a $100 for this year's CC. I bet people got scared it was going to jump up in price so they bought it then!? I was insulted that they jumped to price 40 dollars and all we get is more movies and tshirt vendors than comic vendors! So I bought Thurday and Sunday passes for $50! I hardly go Saturday and Friday so it is better for me except I have to wait in line twice as oppose to once for my badge!
I'm torn between telling CC to go to hell and hope that we get Wizard Con here instead when they move to LA!!!???
I go to CC for comics not movies and tshirts!
