It sucks that he had to do that, but anything to keep those immature ****s from booing a talented actor coming in last minute.

What's boggling is unlike Geoff Johns can't hide his gushing over the GL movie, before this Joe Quesada and the rest of the other Marvel comic business people have been pretty low key about the Marvel movies. Maybe that shows Marvel movie and comic business have been managed independently for a good reason.

Heh, Marvel have talked about movie projects for their characters since last decade. And they have outed their big-6 (Spidey, Wolverine, IM, Hulk, Cap, Thor) in separate movies. Now it's Marvel B-listers turn like Dr Strange and Ant Man to have their own showings.
I like both companies and wish all parties have successful movie enterprise, but where credit is due.

I honestly think it's all in good fun. His comment against TDK was more tongue-in-cheek than anything. Just harmless jokes about his film's chief rival that summer.
As for the Inception comment. Well, it is considered the film of 2010 at the moment - and Iron Man 2 came out this year also. So he once again has a film pitted against Nolan (even if not directly). He's just trying to get the fans excited. No harm in that.

Now and then. I'm gonna have more of a problem with Fury ordering Thor around, personally. Evans aside, the character of Captain America gets to order a god around because he earns Thor's respect pretty quickly. Fury lacks all of the nobility that Thor respects in Cap.

No one's denying RDJ's a clown and likes to jest, but it's still interesting both his comments could be summed up as:
"Wow, TDK is clearly for the denizens of higher education" and "Inception might be the most ambitious to date, but Avengers is going to be even bigger"
MArvel dominates this year. That is all, lol.
Hopefully this is just the tip of the iceberg. Next year is where they'll really have to show up for all this hype (let's be honest, that's all this major announcement was).

They couldn't answer that for breach of contract. Especially now that they are a studio and they're owned by Disney who also owns a studio. Fox could sue them if they publically said anything that hinted they were trying to get their properties back.

I'm thinking Ruffalo will "reprise" his role as Bruce Banner because he will appear as Banner in the easter egg ending to Thor or Cap.
I got chills from SLJ doing the Avengers voice over. Just awesome. Thor looks great as expected. I'm a total DC first guy but Marvel owned this CC.

Indeed, Kuro, indeed.
What'd you think about the news that Marvel got Punisher back?
"Wow, TDK is clearly for the denizens of higher education" and "Inception might be the most ambitious to date, but Avengers is going to be even bigger"
He's just hyping the movie. He's a mainstream actor. I'm sure he's more than aware of the success of Inception, and how popular it has become with the general audience. He's simply taking a movie that most people in the crowd have probably seen, and is essentially saying "You think Inception was good? Just wait until The Avengers."
Here's the exact quote:
I don’t mean to mention another movie, but did anybody see Inception? I think that was probably just about the most ambitious movie I’ve ever seen. And then I thought, “Wait a goddamn second. Marvel Studios is going to take all of their top superheroes, and they’re going put them all together in The Avengers. That’s the most ambitious movie I’ve ever seen.”
I see it as nothing more than a harmless poke meant to garner more hype for The Avengers. All the same, judging by his comment he did like Inception.

Curious about what they could possibly try with the Punisher next at this point. They tried a comic-faithful version built around Ennis' story elements and it flopped; they tried a balls-to-the-wall ultraviolent version in the vein of the MAX series and it flopped. What else is there to the Punisher, really?

Mark Strong is a great choice, and I hope he carries the film. Sinestro is one of my top 5 baddies, so I hope he does great.
The reason I think it's headed Jonah Hex is because of Reynolds and Lively. I've never seen a good Ryan Reynolds movie. Maybe that's a coincidence, but at some point when the star Quarterback keeps loosing Football games, you have to wonder how much blame he deserves, if you catch my meaning.

Jonah Hex has problems that could not be solved with casting. I am worried for Hal Jordan, but not on that level.

There were cheers AND boos when Ruffalo was called up. You can hear them in that clip.
Personally, I thought Bana and Norton were okay. I like Norton's acting, but Bana bought me more on the the repressed rage angle. I guess I can hope Ruffalo knocks it out of the ballpark, but I'd be lying if I didn't say my hopes are at an all-time low for the Hulk's future in Marvel movies.

The problem is they have no idea what to do with him. Personally thought the first film was great up until it ended in the strangest manner possible. But when it was received in such a lukewarm manner they decided to just abandoned for a not here, not there tale.

Hey, guys. :yay:
I've seen the trailer and I'm going to post as detailed a description as I can.
Here it is:
. The trailer starts by revealing a heavily guarded SHIELD facility in New Mexico.
. Cut to agent Phil Coulson interrogating Thor, tied to a chair, in a room with glass walls. Thor is dirty and looks beaten.
. The interrogatory is intercut with scenes of Thor fighting SHIELD agents in and out of the facility.
. Coulson tells Thor that he has just beaten men with the best military training available, and that only a man with similar training would be able to accomplish that.
. Coulson asks Thor where has come from. "Afeganistan?", "Iraq, maybe?".
. Thor just looks at him angrily.
. Cut to Asgard. It looks very futuristic, golden and shiny.
. We hear Odin's speech about responsability and the rise of new generation.
. Intercut with the speech, we see Thor, Loki, Sif, Volstagg, Fandral, Hogun, Heimdall, Frigga and the Aesir.
. Something happens.
. Thor and Odin argue. Odin calls Thor "a vain and petty boy". Thor responds by calling Odin an "old fool".
. Odin becomes furious and says he was a fool to think Thor was worthy.
. Odin casts Thor away. We see the Aesir ripping his armor off as Odin says he shall no longer be immortal, followed by a streak of light.
. Cut to Thor being found by Jane Foster in the desert. He has Earth clothes on. She asks him if he's OK. He answers by saying: "Oh, no. This is Earth, isn't it?" in an annoyed way.
. Jane asks where Thor has come from. He says: "What your ancestors called magic... And you call science... From where I come from, are one and the same".
. Jane takes Thor to a science building, where we meet Stellan Skarsgaard's and Kat Dennings' characters.
. Cut to next morning. Thor appears shirtless and Dennings says that, "for a homeless bumb, he is in perfect shape".
. Brief scenes.
. Thor, dirty and beaten, comes face to face with his hammer in the SHIELD facility. He attempts to lift it, but fails. We then hear Odin voice-over: "Whoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor".
. Cut to Asgard. Loki holds his father's spear and says: "I'm the new king of Asgard".
. Sif, Volstagg, Fandral and Hogun not very happily bow before him.
. Action scenes, both on Earth and in Asgard, including Thor and Sif fighting the Aesir; Heimdall kicking ass and Thor hitting an enemy in the face with his hammer.
. Cut to Loki facing Thor in Odin's throne room. Loki shows Odin's spear as a sign of superiority. Thor swings his hammer and throws at the screen in full force.
. "Thor".
. Cut to the Destroyer landing in the desert. Agent Coulson and several SHIELD agents approach it and wonder if it's on their side. The Destroyer answers them by shooting a beam of energy from his helmet that blows their cars up loudly.

Curious about what they could possibly try with the Punisher next at this point. They tried a comic-faithful version built around Ennis' story elements and it flopped; they tried a balls-to-the-wall ultraviolent version in the vein of the MAX series and it flopped. What else is there to the Punisher, really?
Remake the Dolph version, but with a white skull, white boots/gloves.:cwink:

Curious about what they could possibly try with the Punisher next at this point. They tried a comic-faithful version built around Ennis' story elements and it flopped; they tried a balls-to-the-wall ultraviolent version in the vein of the MAX series and it flopped. What else is there to the Punisher, really?

Surfer
It starts with lightning and then it shows a S.H.I.E.L.D. base where Clark Gregg's Agent Coulson is interrogating someone chained to a chair. It's Chris Hemsworth's Thor, and Coulson gives a long monologue asking him where he got his training. We see a bit of footage of Thor in action sans hammer taking down the S.H.I.E.L.D. soldiers who are trying to stop him.
"Who are you?" asks Coulson and Thor looks up.
We then see what looks like a constellation system and we hear a voice-over by Anthony Hopkins as Odin as we see the golden buildings of Asgard and the camera goes into the throne room where he's giving a big speech to his son, who is kneeling at the base of the throne. We see glimpses of each of the Asgardian Gods including Sif, Balder and the Warriors Three, and Idris Elba's Heimdall. Odin is obviously mad at Thor and he says that he's going to take his power and banish him for his actions, sending a bolt that sends Thor down through the constellation where he lands in the desert and is found by Natalie Portman's Jane Foster. We then see Hemsworth walking around shirtless and impressing Foster and her assistant Darcy (played by Kat Dennings).

Eh, that's just applying a name to Thor when he's on Earth, though. He's not really Don Blake. Don Blake is Thor as an actual human being who has to deal with his imperfections and such. Calling Thor Don Blake is a nice gesture but it's not quite the same thing.

Clip showed an unmasked Red Skull looting a tomb in a castle which belongs to Odin. There's a nod to the Cosmic Cube, a staple of Cap comics.
The Skull then finds a hidden compartment, finds a box inside, and opens it. An old man warns the Skull that man was not meant to see what's inside. "Exactly," answers the Skull.

Thor now is 100% perfect in my book. There is no possible way this film could have a higher fever pitch than it is already.
Branagh is truly a god amongst men.
My only quarell is the line: "Oh no, this is Earth, isn't it?" It's an okay line, but a little out of place for Thor. But still, very good.

Here's a Description

Corey from Spill.com was streaming live from the Thor panel, and he "accidentally" let a few scenes play to length. "Accidentally."

yea i saw the steam when the guy covered the lense and they were showin the cap trailer i heard some of the cap stuff but kept refreshing thinking the picture was lagging, so i missed some of the cap stuff. i did hear the cube stuff though and saw the rest of the panel and thor and avengers footage.
I love that when they're all lined up it shows just how much taller Hemsworth/Thor is. As tall as he is and how ripped he got for this film I can't wait to see Thor in action.

I thought Hemsworth was gonna eat Munn during the G4 interview. Before Comic-Con, I had no clue the dude was so tall.

After Thor ends up on Earth, is he going to get his armor back before the end of the movie? I can't see how, if it remains in Asgard after he gets cast down to Earth. Unless Loki brings it along or whatever. Then again, why would he.
If he doesn't get it back, it sure will be a rude awakening.

Apparently when he's on Earth he doesn't have his powers though, right? So that's pretty close to Don Blake.
Not really. He's still a musclebound giant. The whole point of Don Blake is that he's crippled and weak and vulnerable--the very antithesis of everything Thor was in Asgard, yet his inherent nobility shines through and he becomes a hero in his own way, as a world-renowned surgeon.
The armor will probably appear on him again when he recovers Mjolnir and his powers. That would probably be the clearest way to indicate that he's a god again, after all.

Would the trailer even be watchable if it were leaked? Between the usual cam crappiness and the fact that it was presented in 3D, I imagine it'd be hard to see anything.

YES it was shown in 3D, the guy who blogged live said it was amazing.

That is an excellent point. I have been wondering why there hasn't been any poor versions of the trailer appearing on You Tube or something like it, but the fact that it was shown in 3D might explain it. I would imagine it takes an already blurry image of the trailer and makes it unrecognizable. So, I think you could be right.

From what I saw Corp it looked AMAZING either way. STILL tho from what I saw it looked like stories from LEE origin, JMS' Return, and The Death of Odin all rolled into one.
GODS I GOTTA SEE IT AGAIN!!!

I've heard a few less charitable reports of the 3D. Someone even compared it to The Last Airbender's. Hopefully they're still tweaking it and it'll look better by release day. They've still got plenty of time.

No because I saw it live, while it was blurry, we COULD see what was going on. SO I'd imagine the recorded footage in 3D wouldn't be problem.
