From MY understanding , Yggdrasil the world tree is mainly the universe and the energy running through everything, including us are attached to it in the Thor movie.
BASICALLY in stead of nine different dimensional worlds there are nine different PLANETS in the Asgardian universe.

That's what I've understood from the bits and pieces we've heard interviews. :woot:

Yeah, me too( Fraction's Thor is kinda slow & grumpy. No, it's still on "let us introduce some new bloody villains for some new readers" phase, but I don't quite enjoy it as much as JMS' run on Thor v3.

The whole idea of bringing back both Loki & Odin seems nice, but to be fair it's just another step to promote the movie, that's it. Of all modern Thor comics my favorite was "The Mighty Avenger", which, sadly, got canceled recently because of the low sales + it was supposed to end on issue 12, but now it'll end on #8, which leaves us with a lot of plot holes & unresolved questions.

I would've been glad to see Odin stay dead forever. He's totally unnecessary to the comics at this point.

You know, I wouldn't be surprised if they're holding off so that can promote Cap and Thor in tandem. I think that could actually be a smart move. Imagine how much more succesful TIH had been if it had been advertised in tandem with Iron Man.

THe only Thor 'trailer' that is out right now is the CC stuff.

However I can almost garanutee when the Thor trailer comes out in the next month it will be far more polished in terms of CGI then the GL trailer.

THe GL trailer has alot of people talking but it isn't all positive, and it did seem a bit rushed. But they got thier marketing up and running.

A teaser poster should consist of Mjolinir just lying there, with the title Thor underneath it. Comic fans will get it right away, and the public will be curious. But make sure the Marvel logo is prominent so they know it's not just a movie based on the original folklore.

I'm hoping that we will get a Thor trailer attached to Tron: Legacy, but the movie is coming out in 2 weeks and we haven't heard anything about it yet. And because of Ryan Reynolds, GL does have a bigger name attached to it, even though Thor has Portman and Hopkins in the supporting roles. I just hope Marvel & Disney won't take forever to start creating awareness for the movie.

SEGA® of America, Inc. today announced they have signed Chris Hemsworth to voice the title role and Tom Hiddleston to voice Loki in the upcoming action adventure Thor™: God of Thunder.

Both actors’ likenesses will also be used in the game, which is based on the legendary franchise from Marvel Entertainment, and marks Thor’s first standalone appearance in a video game.

“Bringing in Chris and Tom to star in Thor: God of Thunder gives us AAA talent that will create a truly cinematic interactive experience,” said Gary Knight, Senior Vice President of Marketing at SEGA Europe and SEGA of America. “Mighty Thor and the trickster Loki will face off with real emotion while giving fans visual and vocal continuity between the video game and film adaptations of the Marvel franchise.”

Thor: God of Thunder will take players through an original, epic-scale third-person action adventure for which Matt Fraction, the Eisner Award-winning writer and lead Thor comic book author, served as story consultant.

In the game, Thor battles through the numerous worlds of Norse mythology to save Asgard. Players will wield the iconic Mjölnir, Thor’s legendary hammer, to fight enemies of an immense scale while controlling the elemental storm powers of lightning, thunder and wind to vanquish enemies. Thor must overcome monstrous foes lifted from the pages of the comics, including Ulik, Ymir and Surtur, as well as other daunting enemies.

I was thinking a while back- I know reshoots are standard stuff for effects-heavy features, but remember when they talked about introducing Hawkeye in Thor and ultimately didn't because they wanted the Avengers director to pick the person playing him? I was wondering if maybe since they nabbed Renner they tossed him in a scene or two.

Well if they use the Helmet as a crown as it seems they're doing in the movie, Thor in the game might need to do deeds to regain his crown.

That's cool that both Hemsworth and Middleton are voicing their respective characters for the game. They're not exactly that A-list that it's a waste of time, but I know they had to pull double duty for it also.

I doubt that. If Thor need sto regain anything, it'll be Mjolnir. He always gets stripped of Mjolnir before anything else. Odin's a real dick about that. :o

nah, they'll leave him with mjolnir for everything except maybe the tutorial level. otherwise it'd disrupt the game.

and i think technically vartha's idea will happen. you'll gain the ability to wear the helmet (alt costume) by completing a task (beating the game or a level)

He has also appeared in a variety of TV roles and in films such as "A Perfect Getaway," "Ca$h" and more.
Tom Hiddleston graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and has gone on to star in a number of critically acclaimed television productions including "Return to Cranford" and "Wallander." He has also received universal praise on stage in a number of roles including a hugely successful production of Shakespeare's Othello alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor and Ewan McGregor, and an Olivier Award-winning performance in Cymbeline. In addition to voicing the role of Loki in "Thor: God of Thunder," he plays Loki in the upcoming "Thor" film adaptation from Marvel Studios and in 2011 will also star in Woody Allen's "Midnight in Paris" and Steven Spielberg's "War Horse."

Okay, so I went to Moscow Movie Expo, let's call it's that, okay?

They (Paramount) showed SDCC'10 Thor footage in 3D with some minor changes & better/polished CGI (more Thor here, more Thor there, more look at Asgard, which looks freaking beautiful).

I've got to say, that Thor in 3D - doesn't look as bad as Clash of the Titans, but it doesn't look impressive either. So, don't spend your money on 3D version, 'cause it just looks the same as it will be in a digital format.

The audience liked this footage. Everyone laughed at Stark reference at the end. And then everyone clapped like for 1.5 minute.

Some other facts, that may concern two different comic book movies:

* Nor The First Avenger: Captain America teaser or footage was shown.
* Transformers 3 were just playin Transformers. Nothing special.

Thanks, RealIrOnMaN for the update! Love hearing that Asgard looks spectacular in the trailer. Hm... I might have to save up to watch Thor at least once in 2D, and then again in 3D, just because I'm sort of curious about how it'll look anyway.

Well, whatever. The movie's totally gonna get my money regardless. The five-minute SDCC trailer was wicked epic.

Did you get better impressions of Hemsworth and Hiddleston and what they're going to do with their characters? I've actually liked what little I've seen of Hemsworth as Thor, but I've read where others weren't as impressed.

Hiddleston's Loki seems like he's a cunning, wily villain. I'm most excited to see the translation of Loki to the big screen.

(I think I would love it even more if Loki were to end up being featured prominently in The Avengers...)

ETA: and how is it that I didn't realize Idris Elba was Heimdall until now?

Well, yes, obviously they are both great, but there's something sinister & attracting in Loki, which gets me pumped and happy about him more, than Thor. Marvel did a wise choice by casting Tom as everyone's favorite trickster.

But I really need to see them act on the big screen, so I will be able to judge the cast properly.

The Description of the first official trailer:

* The trailer has much of the footage from that leaked reel we saw floating around after San Diego Comic Con with SHIELD Agent Coulson questioning the man who took apart his men as if they were second rate security guards with images of him doing the deed flashing about. "Where were you trained?"

* We flash to Asgard where Thor is getting a tongue lashing from his father Odin who calls him a boy and remarks that he has brought war to their peaceful land.

* Flash to a pack of bad ass looking Frost Giants on the march.
* Flashback and Loki attempts to lodge a protest to Thor's punishment but Odin won't hear it. The sentence is passed.

* Flash to Jane Foster showing concern and then to Thor, flat on his back, who says "Oh, no, this is Earth isn't it?" with disdain in his voice.

* Heimdall gets a fair amount of flash time as well, though it's nothing but him making faces and such.
* We also see a couple of Asgardian ladies, one of which being Jaimie Alexander as Sif.

* Some quick Frost Giant battle rounds out the excitement, some explosions go off.
* The Destroyer is causing chaos in the middle of it all
* FROST GIANT RAMPAGE!!

UPDATED: THOR Trailer Descriptions Online!

But this first, real trailer also shows teases of things that should really have fans of the comics … and fantasy-action fans … excited. Things that many of us were hoping would be in the movie. That includes more, clearer footage of the menacing Destroyer armor, going all “Gort” on his Earthly surroundings, the all-seeing Heimdall (Idris Elba, with glowy eyes), and what appears to be part of the climactic battle between Thor and his evil half-brother, Loki (Tom Hiddleston). And best of all is a brief sequence in which Thor strikes down a pack of dark elves by throwing Mjolnir at them. And then his mystical Uru hammer returns to his hand (a power also seen when Odin reclaims the weapon).

Someone already sent in a negative review of the 3D effects in the trailer. Doesn't matter to me. I'll be seeing it in 2D.

From /Film:
Hey, just a tidbit of info about when we’ll see the Thor trailer. They’ve sent out the 2D & 3D trailers for digital prints this week. That said ,as a projectionist, they are not asking us to attach it to any films this weekend. My guess would be we’ll see it on Tron. I’ve already screened it and essentially it’s just a slimmed down version of the five minute Comic Con trailer. Not much new added at all. And sadly the 3D does not look very impressive. The picture doesn’t show much in terms of depth and the motion on screen creates a blur which is very hard for your eyes to focus in on. Hopefully this is only because the film is months away from release, but I would say it’s definitely one of the lower end 3D trailers I’ve seen of late

Slashfilm really ripped into the 3D.

Couldn't care less about 3D. I'm sure I'll watch both versions, but I tend to forget about 3D within the first 5 or 10 minutes of movies anyway.

Yeah if that's the only problem, I hope these guys don't keep harping on it, some people just don't drop stuff like that and the film in it's whole is what it should be judged on.

We're finally getting an IMAX screen here pretty soon, I think it opens early 2011. I hear told it's the largest in the country. I really hope they show Thor in 2D on it... I've never had interest in 3D. I'm not paying extra just to wear yet another pair of glasses.
