Basically, Bay says that after working on Transformers for so long he needs to change gears and move on. So that begs the question-- who should take his place on TF3?
Personally, Louis Leterrier would be my first choice. He's pretty much just as capable of balls-to-the-wall action scenes as Michael Bay (including chaotic car chases, as seen in The Transporter), and in The Incredible Hulk showed that he can put together a cool giant monster fight scene. If the goal is to maintain continuity with the first two movies will injecting a bit of new flavor, I think Leterrier would be the right man for the job.

Little Potter can suck a dick.
If not Bay, then no one.
Spielberg wanted Bay to be the director, if that doesn't happen, than Spielberg should just not worry about a third film.

so does this mean they'd redesign the robots? and get rid of the dumb storyline associated with Sam?

Highly unlikely, unless TF2 is a massive flop. Chances are they will try to make an effort to retain continuity with or without Bay, unless they're idiots. And before anyone asks, no, they are not going to make a G1 movie no matter how much the G1 fanboys demand it.

Are you sure Bay isn't just taking, oh, I don't know, a *****ING BREAK!??!?

Bay confirmed on his website that the reports of him leaving TF3 were false. He wants to do a smaller project after TF2 because he needs a break, but he says he never claimed he was leaving the franchise. Christopher Nolan gets to make movies in between batman films, and since Bay is making tons of money for Paramount and Hasbro he's entitled to at least as much courtesy. TF3 might be 3 years away rather than 2, but that's OK.

TF3 is three years after ROTF, so it makes sense if Bay wants to do another movie inbetween.

Open that in a different thread. X-Men isn't really on-topic here.

I dont think it would be a wise idea to redesign the transformers. I mean unlike real people, the transformers are all Cgi. It would probably be cost effects to simply keep the same designs.

If Bay left I'd want D.J. Caruso to take over. He already has a working relationship with Spielberg and Shia (Disturbia/Eagle Eye). The action in Eagle Eye was really good and he's much better with character, imo.

Why cant Spielberg do it? I bet that it would be magical! Instead he did that **** Indiana Jones movie that appealed to no one.

^ That would be ideal, but not realistic, unfortunately.

If Bay were to leave, which he isn't, I'd say get Ridley Scott.

The only person that comes to mind that could include as much action in a film as Bay could is Roland Emmerich. I think he'd be perfect because he knows how to destroy the planet and if Unicron is indeed the villain for TF3 than Roland would be perfect.

Yes along with Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow (only good for its effects).

Steven Spielberg or JJ Abrams.

Well, if Unicron is coming and the world is going to end, then yeah, Emmerich. All of his movies tend to deal with the end of the world.

TF3 will be in 2011 or 2012. BAy just wants a brake. That's ok. And if he doesn't do it, then have Steven Speilburg direct it.
So Negatrons don't jump on the idea that Bay has quit. He just wants a brake, that's all.
