So what are the oddities you might possibly find in Thor that may not bewilder us but will make non comic reading people say "WTF?" especially on the trailer...
1. Flowing red cape in a common modern setting.
(Take out the red cape?)
2. Loki scheming in an typical villainous voice. If you ever play Marvel Ultimate Alliance you know what I mean.
(I am hoping Loki will speak normally)
3. Overuse of lightning power
(flashback to Storm in X-Men 1)
4. Too much Bifrost Bridge. You know the psychedelic rainbow.
(Keep appearance at minimum)

"By the Hoary hosts of HOGARTH!" type dialogue.

Keep it dark and girtty and make it epic. Sort of like Gladiator without the blood and gore. And not as grounded ofcourse since we are dealing with Gods. I am not too worried about the costumes anyhow.

Ok.... well can you explain how a regal red cape is cheesy, in any setting?

When you start saying "Oh, the red cape is too cheesy", then its "oh, the helmet is cheesy" and "oh, the whole Nordic outfit is cheesy". And before long, you're left with Ultimate Thor, who is basically a timid apology by writers ashamed of Marvel's true Thor.

Again as I said the degree of cheesiness varies from person to person. I don't see the red cape cheesy, but those who don't read comics might.

The 4 circles on his armor LOL. Imagine if he had his original costume in the movie?
I would prefer is costume be what he has currently in his series, but the original wouldnt be all that bad either.

"By the Hoary hosts of HOGARTH!" type dialogue.
Isn't that from Dr. Strange?

Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder-possible solution? Turn them into horses or something.

As for Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder. They are mythical (magical) goats. Just CGI them to be massive & ferocious battle-goats and it could work. kind of like bull-fighting bulls.
