Smiple question.
How pissed/disappointed would you be if the villain is NOT the Lizard in SM4?

I don't really know right now. I mean I was kinda hoping for the Lizard in SM3 but now I honestly just want a good movie to make up for the last one

I will be pretty happy. I don't like the Lizard THAT much.

I would be very disappointed simply because this is the next villain and story I expected to see. Dylan Baker has languished for three movies now. Being mentioned in SM1 to showing up in SM2 to actually being more involved in SM3. His character has always been interesting to me and I would finally like to see his adaptation on the big screen.
If they have a better story and villain in mind then so be it but it's time to establish Dylan Baker as a major player.

It depends.
If we don't get the Lizard, but get other good villains like Electro or Mysterio, then I'll be happy. However, if the Lizard is shunned for more inferior villains like Chameleon, or Kraven, or Vulture, then I'll be very pissed off.

Not pissed at all. I really don't see how this kind of character could carry a summer blockbuster as the villain. *shrug*

I'd be more pissed if they gave me the impression it was never going to happen. There should be some progression of the character in SM4 if he is not the villian.

Exactly. So many times before Spider-Man 3, Raimi gave hints about the Lizard, and then after S-M 3, we were given hints to Lizard.
I don't know about you, but maybe Dylan Baker should stop being Dr. Connors if he's given a broken promise to be Lizard for S-M 4.

I'd be disappointed because he's one of the classic villains that i'd like to see make an appearance on the big screen. And as Spiderine says with how he's been gradually introduced in the films he seems well suited to be promoted from supporting character.
However if doesn't happen i won't be burning Sam Raimi effigies, jumpin off a bridge or anything like that.:hehe:

Depends on the villain and the story. The Lizard is a logical choice, however the NY clue makes me think it might not be him. At least not as the main villains. Like I said in another thread, I'm thinking right now it's Mysterio with the Lizard possibly playing a role.
If the Lizard is not involved at all, but Mysterio is the villain, I won't be mad. Mysterio is a great villain choice. However, like others have said, if we get Scorpion, Electro, Shocker, Rhino, etc. and no Lizard, then I'll be a bit disappionted.

Not mad, but a bit disappointed. They've set up Dr. Connors in the last two so it'd be nice to get the ball rolling for the character, but if other villains could be set up and executed more properly then I'm all for the Lizard not showing up.
Depends on who the main villain is.
Yup....but honestly given the right circumstances, any villain can be a good or bad choice. It all depends on the story telling of the film.
I will admit that Lizard is my first choice. Spidey's big 3 viallains (Goblin, Ock, Venom) are already out of the way, and Lizard the best of what's left IMO.
Given the fact that...
A. Raimi likes sympathetic villains that are tied to Peter in some way,
B. We've teased him this enire time. I think even non-comic fans may have a curiosity about this one armed professor of Peter's.
...I would be surprised if 4 passed on him.
I also feel that if we use a 2nd villain in addition to Lizard, it would be unwise to pass on Kraven. It all seems like a logical next step to me.
I guess we'll see.

That's a good question, and quite frankly I wouldn't be pissed... I think it would not surprise me any. Spiderine & Retroman summed it up well. I just think Sam does not make those logical moves forward or progression of characters.
I would be disappointed, but not surprised either. I'm sorry, I just don't have any faith in Raimi, like others do. That's more of a disappointment for me. :(

i wouldn't be pissed necesarily depending on the villain they use. the best bet is to have lizard and kraven or whoever in 4 and 5 and 6 should be a 2 parter with the sinister 6 where we actually see mj and peter get married since they already confirmed that won't be happening in 4. if they didnt' use lizard and used somebody like scorpion or somebody that you don't have an entire story about, then it makes me wonder if it'll be as good as the others. after seeing drag me to hell by sam i have every hope he would use lizard and put some real scares in it

I would be surprised considering they planned on putting him in SM3. Give Curt Connors a chance!
Reikowolf
06-22-2009, 09:34 AM
It would be a shame as he's already part of the movie mythos, but other than missing his arm and being a professor, not much has been shown of who he is.
They've had two huge chances in SM2 and SM3
His relationship with Ock could have afforded the Molina more screen time and his studying the symbiote was only barely touched on.
On that note, it is interesting to note that he kept a sample of it after SM3.
So long as the villain is well written, it should not matter who it is.

Mysterio is underated.
his appeal has grown over the years, I remember a friend telling me how Mysterio versus Spidey has always been about how a kid plays with a poisonous insect. He creates the illusion of power, bidding his time and putting the insect in rediculous scenerios; not aware that as soon as he drops his guard, the insect could bite him and escape.

I would be really REALLY sad. :( I don't even want to think about it. I've been waiting for a Lizard adaptation to the silver screen ever since 2001! That’s when they began teasing about the Lizard in the first place.
I hope this time it becomes a reality.

I also want Mysterio to be in this movie, but it's not gonna happen.
Mysterio wears his his fishbowl helmet all the time to hide his identity.
Knowing how Raimi loves to unmask every single villains (and Spiderman), Mysterio is probably not even an option to him.

Wouldn't bother me at all, the Lizard bores me quite honestly. The only way I'd want him in a film is if there is another villain (not working with him or anything) that gets equal/more screen time.

Lizard is my favorite Spidey villain and I wanted to see him since SM2 and was a little purtubrbed he was not announced for SM3. But if it means he gets done poorly just to force him in, no thanks. Make a good movie first and foremost. I don't want to be a Venom fan in this case. ;)

I'll be honest, when it comes down to it... I don't care. I may jump along board the "angry fan-bandwagon" when -----ing about the villain(s) in place of the character, but really, I won't care, until I see the movie. The trailer will find my feelings for it, while the film itself... Just give me damn good characters this time around, will ya?! With enough character development?... I love the third installment, and I always will, but when watching 'The Spectacular Spider-Man' now... That kind of quality is what I'm expecting (and hoping for) from this upcoming installment, and I'm hoping that the movie will have that style of mood and character as the show itself. But, if not, just make to the best of your "screenwriting abilities" this time around.

I agree and feel the same way.... however, I have a suspension that Sony may have or may possibly, buy rights to Kingpin(NY Mafia). I don't know who it was either, but someone here posted a link that something like, "they may have an unexpected surprise" or something. i can see linking Papajohn as a henchmen working for Kingpin in Spidey 4. For one their saying New York has something to do with the villain and at one time or another Kingpin ran New York. And it would be cool if Papajohn was actually Maxwell Dillon who turns into Electro on accident during a battle w/Spider-Man. Papajohn should already have some beef w/Spidey after Spidey 1 so no need to build his animosity towards him. Plus this would be a great way to go the Sinister 6 route.

Can't wait for the Sinister "You Killed My Uncle" Six. Featuring: Sandman ("This... is the man who killed your uncle."), Electro ("Wait! You proved us wrong on the last one, so we're guessing that it's this man... who killed your uncle."), Vulture ("This guy was Flint Marko's, nephew's, uncle's, cousin's roommate." "What does that have to do with anything?" "Absolutely something, but we haven't figured that one out yet."), Kraven the Hunter ("This man killed the radioactive spider that bit you." "What does that have to do with Uncle Ben?" "Absolutely nothing.") Doctor Octopus ("It turns out that this man, Doc Ock, was semi-responsible, also, for the death of your spider.") & Venom ("Excelsior! I'm in another movie!").

I suggest you take a look at 'The Spectacular Spider-Man' to see what they can do with "B-villains" like: The Vulture or Chameleon. Anything's possible if they get the story right. I'm just hoping that they don't try to pump-up the "epic" with this one, like they did with 'Spider-Man 3'. Just give us a simple, good story with characters that we can care about. That's all.

Hey, don't get me wrong, Scorpion is one of my favorite villains and certainly is not " b-list" to me. All I'm saying is that ask the typical non-fanboy about a Spidey villain and Scorpion won't come up. And I'm sure if Arad and Ziskin keep their !@#$in noses out of ploting Spider-man 4 more than they did for 3 I'm sure Raimi can cook us up something good.
