I wanted to make something more original and creative than the average 'appreciation' thread, so this is the topic I thought would be fun :oldrazz: Though my idea of 'fun' might be kind of lame, but whatever.
If anyone remembers any others, surely post them.

I love me some Stacey Dash, but does her character from Clueless really count as a "token"? Half the cast was black.

Someone do Zoe from Firefly.
I disagree about Mrs. Fishburne, I think Joss put her there because they worked together on previous projects like Angel. Could you imagine anybody else in that role?
The token black female is almost always a result of a white female protaganist, and the need to give the latter a foil to give her some "flavour" and make the white woman seem more urbane. Similar to why the token black male is paired with a white male protaganist.

Yep. It was Dash, Faison, another black guy, and two white girls. It was a TV show about rich kids from Beverly Hills, and its cast had a 3:2 black:white ratio. I think the only token on that show was a Token Parent/Old Guy.

Haha. :hehe:Actually she was the token Australian. And that's true particularly when there were two female rangers in the time, they had to have one white girl and one ethnic girl; except maybe Turbo and In Space where it was one asian and one latina.
