Disney XD to air the new episodes of the Spectacular Spider-man with additional never-before-seen scenes?
I have heard a rumor on the net, a very interesting one. Remember the first Spectacular Spider-man which was like a movie comprised of the first three episodes of the show and had some additional scenes? Greg Weisman said to Marvel Animation Age that unfortunately they are not going to release movie length DVDs anymore: "really wish the movie format had not been dropped. There are scenes deleted for time from the episodes . Nothing earth-shattering, but some neat stuff like Shocker’s escape”. Well, it seems that Disney XD is going to air the second season episodes with the additional scenes to draw the attention of those who have already watched the episodes on the net. Greg just told IGN.com that they already know some people have seen the episodes illegally: “all the You Tube/bit torrent stuff that's going on, that we're not supposed to know about, but we do”Isn’t it just great?

but i think everyone should try to watch the extended episodes on Disney XD to help the ratings to gurantee a third season of theis beloved season. we gotta think long-term!

I wish i still had a cable box in my room, but i just got basic cable in my room :(

I just re-read the interview and saw nothing that suggest that additional footage would be aired.
I think that perhaps the OP misread the intent of what was said. The quote he put in bold doesn't at all imply that they will be showing the unaired footage; it only says that since youtube/torrents viewings of the show aren't technically legal, they "don't know about it" (I.E. they realize that it's out there but have to turn a blind eye to it as there's not much they can do about it).
I'm calling shenanigans until a clearer announcement is made.

Indeed the interview doesn't indicate anything with regard to Disney XD showing extra footage so I think this is wishful thinking.

well then someone should watch tonight's new dxd airing episode and compare it to the canada/aus aired version then.

The IGN interview makes no mention of there being new footage in the Disney XD airings. Where's the real source (if there is one)?

Maybe the episode that airs tonight is the one with the new footage. That would be cool, IMO.

So does the second season episode have any new additional footage? Unfortunately, I don't have Directv anymore, so I can't watch TSSM on DXD. :(

I don't think it does, sadly. It could have been a great move from XD to get more viewers.
Still, we should keep watching. "Blueprints" and "Destructive Testing" got good ratings. I hope it keeps it up.

well we will just have to see how the other episodes go. There still a chance there could be additional footage. maybe someone should post the question at greg's site.

IGN: We saw Doctor Octopus (http://stars.ign.com/objects/923/923845.html) decline an invitation, but why was Shocker (http://stars.ign.com/objects/143/14336866.html) not back with the Sinister Six in this episode?
Weisman: Part of the reason for that is something you didn't get to see in episode 11 of the first season, because it was cut for time. Initially, that was supposed to be in the cut together DVD movies – one of the extra scenes at the end of that episode is that when all the defeated Sinister Six are being taken away, Shocker is taken into a police car by two guys dressed as cops, who turn out to be Fancy Dan (http://stars.ign.com/objects/143/14336868.html) and Ox (http://stars.ign.com/objects/143/14339410.html). So Shocker is not in prison when this episode begins - He already made his escape before this episode started. And Hammerhead (http://stars.ign.com/objects/923/923897.html) and Tombstone (http://stars.ign.com/objects/142/14249010.html) had sort of given Shocker the go ahead to work with the Sinister Six the first time around, but Shocker still basically works for Tombstone and Hammerhead. So he's not a part of the Master Planner's flock here
Too bad we'll never get to see that scene...Almost EVERYTHING that happens in this show means something.
As for the scenes of this season, I would hope Disney XD would air unaired footage with the fact that they are cutting the theme song down. I don't expect to ever hear any gun shots or anything, but still.

well i havent really noticed any thing different really from the online airing to the dxd airing. But we do have to remember it is disney and they do have a slightly different standard's and practice rules then other networks. But really look at anything on cw/cn/disney animated and i dont really see any thing that was in ssm episodes to cause any problems. Really the only thing i could see S&P having issues with is some of the adult themed lines sprinkled in here and there.

Well it seems that season 2 episodes indeed have additional scenes just as season 1 did. In his weekly interview with IGN Greg, who was talking about Gwen Stacy in “Shear Strength”, said the following:
I think Gwen has some victories in this episode, even though she was kidnapped and was very much – I won't dodge this – a damsel in distress, at the end of the adventure, she also saves Spider-Man. And that's even more clear in what would have been the movie version. In a scene that was cut for time, that we thought was going to be in the movie DVD release, but now won't, there's a very brief sequence where Spider-Man's just completely beat and the water floods in and nearly knocks him away and it's Gwen who grabs him and literally saves his life.
