Maybe someone's picking off American pop culture icons.
I just told my family, and my mom almost lost her s**t! LOL!
But this is crazy with all these deaths just in the past week. Mays was only 50, as well. It's one thing when someone dies of old age (or they just happen to be fairly old and it's some other disease that kills them), but this is getting ridiculous. And lord knows the last few deaths in my family I've had to deal with in the past four years, the people in question were way too young (38, 60 and 48). Just terrible.

Smackdown! vs RAW 2009. Sure it's not a fighting game but you can pummel Triple H, Stone Cold, Cena and Kane with Billy Mays. How fun is that?

I never said he was a legend. But he's someone you see everyday on TV, multiple times. We made fun of him more than we ever praised him. MJ dying is tragic, but frankly after the initial shock wears off it's not all that surprising.
It's just real low class to come into a thread about someone's death and try to knock the dude for being a "low class entertainer". That's more than any of us or you will ever accomplish. Frankly, it's ****ed up. I think people made a big deal about Heath Ledger's death, I didn't go into their thread and say he was "An average actor." because I can show some restraint and class. Coming in here and being an ******* makes you lower than whatever you thought Billy Mays is. At least Billy Mays didn't molest little kids.

*Note: The post was mostly directed at Ghostvirus, Sawyer, you're still ok.
Yeah you sure do have restraint and class  :whatever:
Does anyone know if the shamwow guy had any comments on May's untimely passing? im convinced this is like a Natasha Richardson scenario :csad:
Im going to miss him...he was freakin hilarious!
Let's stick to the topic guys. There's no need for the personal stuff.

Looks like Billy may have had a heart attack
TAMPA, Fla. - A Florida medical examiner says television pitchman Billy Mays likely died of a heart attack but further tests are needed.
Hillsborough County Medical Examiner Vernard Adams said Monday the boisterous, bearded 50-year-old known for hawking Oxiclean suffered from hypertensive heart disease. His wife, Deborah, found him dead Sunday in his Tampa home.
He says Mays was taking the prescription painkillers Tramadol and hydrocodone for hip pain. But Adams says there was no indication of drug abuse, and pill counts showed Mays had been taking the correct amount of the drugs.

Media Enterprises announced on Tuesday that the last commercials Mays shot for the Mighty brand product line will be aired.
In the ads, Mays, clad in his familiar blue and khaki uniform, introduces two new additions to the Mighty line, Mighty Putty Superpack and Mighty Tape.
The company also confirmed that Mays’ commercials for Mighty Putty and Mighty Mendit will resume airing after a one-week hiatus.
“We want to honor our friend by airing the infomercials he loved and continuing to introduce consumers to the do-it-yourself products that Billy pitched so well,” said Bill McAlister, president of Media Enterprises.
“Will the consumer keep buying products? No one really knows, because this is brand-new territory for everyone. I believe that Billy was so big and so loved that his brand will go on.”
The last commercial Mays recorded was for the Mighty Tape, which shows him patching up a punctured hose with the product.
The popular pitchman died on June 28 of a heart attack.

Autopsy: Cocaine contributed to Billy Mays' death
TAMPA, Fla. – An autopsy report shows that cocaine use contributed to the heart disease that suddenly killed TV pitchman Billy Mays in June, officials announced Friday.
The Hillsborough County medical examiner's office previously determined that the bearded, boisterous TV spokesman had a heart attack in his sleep. His wife found him unresponsive in bed in their Tampa condo June 28.
Mays was a pop-culture fixture with his energetic commercials pitching gadgets and cleaning products like Orange Glo and OxiClean.
While heart disease was the primary cause of death, a report released Friday by the medical examiner listed cocaine as a "contributory cause of death."
The medical examiner "concluded that cocaine use caused or contributed to the development of his heart disease, and thereby contributed to his death," the office said in a press release.
The office said Mays last used cocaine in the few days before his death but was not under the influence of the drug when he died. Hillsborough County spokeswoman Lori Hudson said nothing in the toxicology report indicated the frequency of Mays' cocaine use.
Cocaine can raise the arterial blood pressure, directly cause thickening of the left wall of the ventricle and accelerate the formation of atherosclerosis in the coronary arteries, the release said.
The toxicology tests also showed therapeutic amounts of painkillers hydrocodone, oxycodone and tramadol, as well as anti-anxiety drugs alprazolam and diazepam. Mays had suffered hip problems and was scheduled for hip-replacement surgery the day after he was found dead.
The McKees Rocks, Pa., native developed his style demonstrating knives, mops and other "As Seen on TV" gadgets on Atlantic City's boardwalk. For years he worked as a hired gun on the state fair and home show circuits, attracting crowds with his booming voice and genial manner.
He got his start on TV on the Home Shopping Network and then branched out into commercials and infomercials. He developed such a strong following that he became the subject of a reality TV series, Discovery Channel's "Pitchmen."

Why does it matter if he did coke? It didn't have any obvious effects on his personal life. It contributed to his death, yes, but he wasn't some strung-out junkie living off the streets.

I agree. This just shows that not every cocaine user is a stereotypical junkie. And even if you don't overdose, there are other side effects of the drug that can kill you.
