I know I haven't been in the season that long but it feels like this season just mid way if that.
I'm glad to be apart of this. Lord knows on the second season i only lasted for three post.

My awards. No Best Ultimized characters, because we haven't really had any new "Ultimizations" that stood out.
Best Hero: Batman - MB
It's quality, not quantity, right? Each of MB's posts are jammed pack with quality. He may not post the most, but each post is equal to about five of mine. So what does that tell you? His name is synonymous with Batman. He's been worried about someone trying to steal the caped crusader from him, but I told him it won't happen because he IS Batman. Pure and simple. Now all he needs to do is POOOOOOOOST!
Best Villain: Bane - Spike
A cold, calculating strongman? This isn't how Bane is supposed to be played. Everyone knows he swings his arms wildly while shouting "BAAAANE!!!" But yeah, Spike has given Bane a better backstory and a crusade that shows him to be not only Batman's equal, but a twisted version of the Dark Knight himself.
Best 'Walking The Line': James Gordon - CatmanHe seems to inch closer towards the V column than the H column, but Cats is dong a fantastic job with the Commissioner. Nobody ****s with Jim Gordon and the GCPD and gets away with it, as one of my characters is learning the hard way. I'll always be grateful that he beat me to the punch with applying for him when this RPG started.
Best Story Arc: Ultimate Gotham - MB, EBJ, Spike, Syn, Catman, et. al
Yeah, people like to harp that "It's the Ult. Gotham RPG!11LOLZ!!" but say what you will, we have a great selection of posters inside the city. All these different characters and storylines going down. From Batman's crusade on the mob, to Bane's extermination of the mob, Maroni and Gordon holding on to their crumbling empires, Red Hood and Batgirl taking it to the crooks of the city, and Selina Kyle wrapped up in a whole lot of ****. The majority of our posters have their characters call this city home, but who gives a **** as long as there's some damn fine RPing going on. I won't toot my horn with all this stuff, mostly because I can't reach that far yet, so I'll just say good job everyone!
MVP (Most Valuable Player): MB
Almost a year ago, talk picked up about rebooting this RPG. I mean, the storylines were stale and going nowhere and only a small percentage of the RPers on the roster were actually posting. All of it was just talk until MB stepped in to set things up, laid down the ground work, and got this RPG jump-started back again. The only reason we made it to 1,000 posts is because of MB. You mother****ing ****sucking bastard. :cmad: I love you

Allright, here we go. Not doing 'Best Post' because I'm way too lazy to dig through the thread to find one that I liked. Also, because I hate you all.
Best Hero: The Flash (Byrd Man)
Part Barry Allen, part Wally West, part Peter Parker, Byrd's take on the Scarlet Speedster never ceases to entertain. He's an incredible badass in one moment and a stammering dork the next, not to mention ridiculously creative with his super-speed abilities. Honorable Mention goes to MB's Batman and Spike's Superman, but I've already given them both the nod before.
Best Villain: Bane (Spike_x1)
Bane is one of those guys that everyone remembers for one cool thing he did and absolutely nothing else, a largely disposable one-off villain that never gets used to his full potential. Spike's take on the character makes him a character that is every bit as awesome as he should be, and actually makes me look forward to his inevitable confrontation with Batman.
Best 'Walking The Line': Jim Gordon (Catman_prb)
I was never too crazy about the whole idea of Jim Gordon being crooked and sleazy, but Catman has made it work like nobody's business. Yes, he's a total bastard, but he's still the law and you do not question him unless you're looking for trouble. Should make for some interesting stuff when he finds out what his daughter is up to. Honorable mention goes to Byrd Man's Edward Nygma again.
Best "Ultimized" Character: Dick Grayson (Green Lantern)
I normally can't stand bratty-teenager characters, but GL has done/is doing (I'm not sure if he's still active) some really good stuff with the dysfunctional relationship between Dick and Bruce. The fact that he's going out and knocking the crap out of bad guys long before Batman ever takes him in is a nice touch, too. Honorable mention goes to Syn's Batgirl, J'Adore's Supergirl, and Eddie Brock's Green Arrow.
Best Character Development: Selina Kyle (Eddie Brock)
I'm really digging how the crusade against Maroni and Gordon is affecting Selina, who is usually portrayed as little more than a grinning sex-pot for Batman to angst over. I dug her 'death and resurrection' and cannot wait to see where it all leads.
Best Story Arc: Ultimate Holiday
There are very few mystery stories that keep me guessing these days, and this one is really delivering. As much as I like to piss and moan about how Gotham-heavy the Ultimate DC universe is, this arc is one that demonstrates just why so many people like to play around in that city in the first place.
MVP (Most Valuable Player): Batman
First of all, because all of his stuff as Batman is frakking awesome. And secondly, because he was the driving force behind rebooting the UDC game in the first place. Bravo, sir.

can i be brainiac, as a kryptonian A.I. which "infects" people, inserting nanobytes to their brains, "tatooing" the brainiac symbol on their foreheads meanwhile, making them drones? in my version, as milton fine he's sickly-looking, old, green-ish and with a red-tint in the eyes, looking like a homeless, but he can develop to machine form, where he's a disattached head, holding on a lot of cables... here's a manip of patrick stewart as brainiac, i'll send my app soon:

. Application .
. THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG .
Character Application
.Screen name: Sabetoonth
.Character you wish to portray: VictorFries/Mr. Fries
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: He’s get closer to walking the line before a spiral into madness/villainy as he takes out the ones he blames for Nora’s condition and his own, and then her ultimately untimely death.
.Powers and physical attributes: VictorFries is an average man, slight build, bald head by choice, a very slight face. He is also very intellegent being a genius in cryogenics and weapons manufacturing as he has made ice grenades/bombs and is wokring on an ice gun.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it):
Victor Fries is the son of a german immigrant, his early life was rather uneventful , he had hobbies, he went to a boarding school, then he met the love of his life. Nora, a beautiful woman. They met after college, just before he was hired at Gothtech.Victor has started devoloping weapons and other liquid mitrogen tools on the military contracts as Gothtech. He is working on a suit of armor for desert enviroments meant to keep the wearer cool and comfortable in the heat of the hottest deserts in the world. He has plans to ask Nora to marry him soon, and hes bought the ring, which has a huge rock on it, though he had to barrow a few hundred dollars from Gothtech without anyone knowing.
.The burning question - Why this character?:
honeslty I just got an idea for him, and I can kinda relate to the character, smart guy, beautiful girl, things go wrong, he needs to do somehting to save her or get her back. And Freeze actually is one of my top 5 bat villains.
I also already established Freis without getting into Mr Freeze and I want to make that move
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?:
hes not goin to be a villain, he’ll start out as a good guy, hten he’ll descend into villainy as his luck gets worse and worse, turning to true supervillainy when he looses whats closest to his heart: Nora, and he’ll be a little less cold the he has been shown in some, he’ll be angry, but still sympathetic character.
Im gonn kinda change this a bit, when he totally looses it, he is going to become cold, but only on the outside, only to his enemies, and emotional to everyone else. And he will not be so sympathetic through his enemies eyes, cuz all they see if a former scientist(if they knew him then) in a suit of cooling armor coming at them and wanting their head on a stake. And im thinking about before he uses the freeze gun and suit, it will be a normal gun with Bullets he uses to kill a few people he thinks deserve it.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?:
ive got ideas, I can write a good story, a can be orginal im still a rookie I think, but ive been playing Sabretooth and the Hulk in the Allstar Marvel RPG, so I can carry a character through paces, through story, and I can react to other events with reasonable reaction for the character. And I enjoy playing RPGs. And to add to this I also played the character before.
.Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, in three paragraphs or more:
The past few weeks hadnt been easy for Victor Freis, Nora had been in a coma the whole time. He hadnt though of anything else, even at work, he had to re start on individual parts to the freeze gun because he would loose focuz and weld the wrong things together, or incorrectly wire another piece. It was wreaking havoc, he could only hink of her, he had a few sick days saved up and he was going to use them so he could spend some time with her so he might be able to work, that why he would still have a way to support her when she ever came out of a coma.
As he left the Gothtech building he headed right for the Hospital.
The next morning he called into work and told Dave, a coworker in the lab, that he would be taking time off for Nora
“Victor, I don’t know what you’re going through, but I wish you both the best.” He said over the phone
“Thank you Dave, I’ll see you when I come back.” Victor hung up the phone and walked back over to Nora’s bed side. “Two months you’ve been like this.” He thought to himself. He took her hand in his and said a prayer, funny he thought, for such an unreligous man to pray now that he needed God or Heaven the most. He spent the night there, ate dinner in the cafeteria. As time went on these last couple of months he had learned to have time without her, to leave her side as to function correctly, the wathcing her lie there was tortuoes, but he couldn’t leave her side, what would happen if she woke up and he wasn’t there? Wasn’t in the hospital when he could be? She might think he abandoned her.
The calendar ticked by and soon a week was over, this would be the last night he could stay with her until he had to go back to work.
“Nora, darling, I want you to know, no matter what happens, I love you.” He looked up at her face as he held her hand firm in his grasp, the doors opened and Nora’s parents came in the room. they came over to their daughters bed side. Isa, her mother with short red hair and aged worried face on Nora’s right side, her father tall and blonde steady as a red wood, towering over all at the foot of the bed.
Funny,Victor thought to himself, Nora was a party girl, out going, willing to jump on the dance floor at any given moment, a loud person everyone in this room loved. And she was surrounded by silence.

. Application .
. THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG .
Character Application
.Screen name: Nimibro
.Character you wish to portray: Jervis Tetch/"the Mad Hatter"
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: villain
.Powers and physical attributes: short, sunken, big eyes, a big nose and big front teeth, bushy eyebrows, gray-ish red hair, extremely psychotic, suffering of schizophrenia and very start hallucinations, speaks incoherently with changes in tone and random cuts between sentences. Extremely unpredictable and dangerous when armed.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it): well, Arkham inmate #1865, Jervis Tetch, also nicknamed by the asylum staff "the Mad Hatter", is a schizophrenic, psychotic man with deep, very excessive hallucinations. Not much is known about him, beside the fact he went a massive mental breakdown at age 52 while he worked in a wayne enterprises, and was deeply traumatized after the joker kidnapped him. 3 months after that, he tried to sexually assault a co-worker, although he was profiled as shy and quite harmless before the mental breakdown. She hit him, he went mad and tried to electrocute her with a cable, and was sent to Arkham, after escaping the factory and raping a 16 years old girl, while wearing a homemade costume of "the Mad Hatter" from the book "Alice in Wonderland". He has escaped numerous times, and even threatened to bombard the city, although that has been declared as a false alarm. He was also an expert of hypnotic methods and drugs before his mental, reasons for that "hobby" still unknown", although his rambles of "Creating a nation of "wonderlandians"".
.The burning question - Why this character?: well, the character was always seen as a very cartoon-ish, campy and cheesy mock-character, even with the loeb runs that made him a molester and of course, grant Morrison's Arkham Asylum graphic novel
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: I'll ditch all cheesy aspects like his numerous campy-crimes, like stealing a plane, bombing the whole city with no real expertise in bombs, and of course, mind-control, leaving a mad, creepy and menacing character.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: I am an amateur scriptwriter and wrote quite a few stories before, as a scene for a fan-project, some spider-man and batman stories in my head and on paper (maybe I'll post 'em later) and I can help tie/produce new arcs…
.Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, in three paragraphs or more:
Jervis stands in the dirty, smelly alleyway, in a ragged, stitched mad hatter costume, walking slowly, almost failing and collapsing with every step he takes. He breathes heavily, and then laughs manically. A blonde, good-looking teenager, something like 16-years old walks, right in front of him. Her hair is messy, and the make-up on her cheeks and under her eyes is dirty and messed-up. "Hello, little Alice." Jervis says, looking at the girl. "I waited very, VERY long for you to return to here… to WONDERLAND! HAHEEhooheh!".
Jervis steps forward the girl and makes a threatening move with his hand. The girl walks backwards and starts to run in the opposite direction. He runs towards her, sprinting toward her direction, drooling and screaming like a rabid dog "I kNOw YoU WanT It, AliCe! CoME AnD HaVE sOME TeEeA!" as the girl screams and cries for help.
As the girl enters a phone booth, Jervis stands outside, on the street, with a raging expression "YoU LiTtle ****! YoU tHinK yoU caN RuN-n AwAY FrOm MeE? Then WRONG!" the girl types "911", and stays in the booth. Jervis sees the police cabs coming to him, and screams "YOU LITTLE F**KING B*TCH! I SWEAR I WILL KILL YOU WHEN I FIND YOU, YOU LITTLE PIECE OF DOGSH**T!" and runs into the night.

.Screen name: Syn
.Character you wish to portray: Dr. Harleen Quinzell
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Hero...well, civilian, but she's not evil. :ninja:
.Powers and physical attributes: None, but she is a skilled psychologist with a Doctorate in Psychology and a masters degree in Sociology.
Origin and backstory (as you see it): Harleen has a rough child hood, living with only her father after her mother left her when she was only five. As a child, she would often find her father coming home late after another night of heavy drinking at the local bars of Gotham. As time went on, the constant neglect and emotional abuse Harley recieved from her father soon developed into Histronic Personality Disorder, a psychological problem that continued throughout her teenage years.
As a teenager, Harley would often act out - seeking attention in any way she could. She would often make irrational decisions, going against common sense. Going from boyfriend to boyfriend, her personality disorder soon caused her to become overtly clingy - she would compromise herself in many relationships, doing whatever her lover wanted to seek his acceptance. In her junior year of High School, her teachers soon reccomended to her father that Harley see a psychologist for evaluation. Reluctantly, Harley's father gave in and took her to a psychiatrist - fearing legal ramnifications for child neglect. There, Harley's personality disorder was diagnosed. After extensive treatment and various medications, Harley was soon cured of her disorder shortly after graduation. After seeing the effects the mind can have on the body, and how one person can influence many, Harley became inspired - deciding to persue a degree in psychology to understand, not only herself, but others like her.
After seven long years of schooling, (Age: 28) Harley soon graduated from Metropolis University with her doctorate and license to practice psychology. Two months after graduation, Harley caught a lucky break and was hired to work at Gotham City's infamous Arkham Asylum. Now, Harley works hard to help the mentally disabled and sick - hoping to have them work through their psychological problems just as a doctor had once done for her.
Psychological Note: As quoted from www.nlm.nih.gov (http://www.nlm.nih.gov)
Histronic Personality Disorder
Symptoms include:
Acting or looking overly seductive
Being easily influenced by other people
Being overly concerned with their looks
Being overly dramatic and emotional
Being overly sensitive to criticism or disapproval
Believing that relationships are more intimate than they actually are
Blaming failure or disappointment on others
Constantly seeking reassurance or approval
Having a low tolerance for frustration or delayed gratification
Needing to be the center of attention
Quickly changing emotions, which may seem shallow to others
.The burning question - Why this character?: Plans, my boys, plans. I've been using Harley as an NPC with Jason for a while and I think it's finally time I begin work with her story to a greater extent.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: She's a psychologist working at Arkham, that much is the same, however Harley has had a past with mental disorders already - and I intend to expand upon and grow this in my quest to develop Harley into an intrical part of the Ultimate DC RPG.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: Fun stories, some action, a little suspense - epic wins, the usual.
.Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, in three paragraphs or more:
"Ah, Doctor Quinzell," Johnathan Crane says, greeting me as I pass him in the hallway. "How are you today?"
"Not bad," I tell him pleasantly. "Two patients are making tremendous progress. It appears the treatments are working."
"Marvelous," he praises, a wide smile over his face. Ever since I started working here, Crane has taken a personal interest in my work. Often I've found myself in rigorous debates with him about different psychological principles and studies, allowing him to pick my brain as I pick his. Rare that someone who considers psychology a 'hobby' could be so astute with his understanding of the science. "Would it be too much to ask if I shadowed one of your sessions?"
"No," I say happily, a small grin coming over my face. "Not at all."
"Thank you, Doctor Quinzell. I must say it's rather suffocating to constantly distribute the medications you doctors ask for and never get the chance to see the treatments in action."
"I'd imagine so," I reply, adjusting the glasses resting on my nose ever so slightly. "Have you talked to Doctor Arkham about becoming a psychologist yet?"
"Sadly, no. He's been shut up in his office for nearly a month now. I'm not even sure if he goes home anymore."
"Well, we do tend to get wrapped up with our work."
"Mhh, apparently," he agrees, his tone strangely unsettling. "I'd be very interested to know just what kind of work in which he's so enveloped."
"I'm sure," I tell him, nodding slightly. "Well, I've got to submit my work for the day. I'll let you know the next time I review one of my patients so you can join me."
"Excellent. Have a nice day, Doctor Quinzell."
"You too, Doctor Crane."
"Please ... call me Johnathan."

Yeah. She's a social worker working in Gotham. She helped Dick Grayson get adopted by Bruce Wayne's maid Harriet Cooper.

We've been mulling over your app for awhile, but it's difficult to give you the green light. With the way the character's in use right now, your app acknowledges that he's in The Joker's captivity and goes onto say that he eventually escapes three months prior to the current timeline. But as far as Johnny Blaze left things, Jervis hasn't actually escaped yet. For your app to work, we'd have to skip ahead three months, and I don't think that's doable in the context.
For right now, I'm gonna have to say no. But you're more than free to apply for someone else, or wait for The Joker to release Jervis within the game to pick up the beginnings of your story.

I'm about 19 days late with this, but 'eff it. Only a couple people posted theirs, so maybe mine will inspire a few others to narrow down their picks. :oldrazz:
Best Hero: The Flash - Byrd Man
Whether he's saving a cat from a tree or going toe-to-toe with the likes of Giganta and Trickster, Byrd's unique take on the Scarlet Speedster has rarely disappointed, if ever. Combining the whims of a teenage social life with the responsibilities of a superhuman prodigy, Ultimate Flash is the RPG's answer to another company's infamous webslinger. But I think whenever that could have served as a weakness, Byrd's quirky interpretation of Flash and his alter-ego's scatterbrained do-gooder made it a strength, reminding us of the best elements of teenage superheroe archetypes while bringing in a character that cleverly deceives us into thinking that it's fresh.
If there's one element I'm looking forward to in the eventual formation of the Ultimate Justice League, it's the idea that Byrd's Flash will be rubbing elbows with the likes of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, while failing to realize that he's already maintained his own in an equal status to those icons. It's gonna be fun.
Best Villain: Lex Luthor - Andy C.
It's a bit of a cheat, in that we haven't had alot of villain activity in awhile, but Lex Luthor was never anything close to fair. While he's had a multitude of interpretations over the years, Andy's original take on a mastermind who does a little bit of dabbling in everything seems to pay homage to the character's roots, while maintaining that aspect of a corporate mogul hiding his disdain for humanity. Openly performing a lobotomy on Mr. Majestic while simultaneously orchestrating an attack by Giganta against The Flash and Wonder Woman can be achieved by so few supervillains, but Andy's Luthor refuses to be the run of the mill mastermind. It'll be interesting to see where he takes the character against Spike's traditionally straight-laced Superman.
And whether The Man Of Steel will even survive the encounter.
Best 'Walking The Line': Commissioner Gordon - Catman_prb
When Cats first PMed me about taking the role on, I gave him a rough outline of my idea for Jim. It would have had him pretty much the same, save for the fact that he hated Batman and wanted him locked up along with the other crazies. But Cats' Gordon has surpassed my original idea tenfold, proving that he was both far more capable with the character and that he's got a far more twisted imagination than I do. He's created a character that conflicts us and demoralizes us, making us question whether we should hate Ultimate Gordon or encourage his nastiness. After all, Gotham City is a really bad place. Maybe a bad place just needs a tougher brand of justice? I don't know the answer, but I definitely look forward to the moment that Batman sets his sights towards dismantling the corrupt Commissioner. Because in this universe, Gordon may very well be The Dark Knight's greatest adversary, rivaling the likes of The Joker and Bane in ways that would have never before been imaginable.
Best "Ultimized" Character: Edward Nygma - Byrd Man
Me and Byrd often speak over instant messengers about potential ideas for the character, and every time, we both recognize something distinctive about him: If he indeed ever becomes The Riddler, it'll be a hell of a feat to pull off. Because Byrd's take on the character has literally left a question mark on the entire RPG! Whether he's dealing with the mob, orchestrating strategies with Batman, or making deals with a corrupt Commissioner Gordon, Ultimate Nygma reads as no version of The Riddler ever has. He's what Christopher Nolan might have done if the director took the realism aspect to a new extreme, yet in a brilliant twist, the character's writer fancies leaving a surreal impression that there is no possible way to discern this character's motives. The question is, what will he do next? That riddle is one that I feel the citizens of Gotham City don't even want to know, much less experience.
Best Character Development: Selina Kyle - Eddie Brock
One of Eddie's best traits as a writer is the ability to take his audience on a journey. And putting that method towards reinventing Selina Kyle may have very well become one of the high points of his time on these boards. Now rendered just as sympathetic and tragic as many of the Batman pantheon, EB's Selina is just starting to take the turn from scorned victim to vengeful vixen, setting a clear path towards her inevitable alter-ego. Yet rather than make her one-dimensional in a vendetta that'll clearly bring her at odds with the mob that tried to silence her, you still get the sense that this woman could have had a normal life, and how brutally it was ripped away from her. Like Bruce Wayne, she's on the road to a comeback that'll send shockwaves across Gotham City, and I cannot wait to be apart of this enthralling character arc.
Best Story Arc: Bane's Torment - Spike_x1
While I could have nominated him for best villain, I think that would have done Spike a disservice. Because rather than give him a token of character, I think it's Bane's story that really makes him so engaging. Taking him off of the venom tube and placing him at the forefront of a violent gang war that he could very well win, Spike's version of Bane is as cerebral and cunning as he is deadly and unforgiving. He's a character that literally makes me pause and worry about Batman's future, knowing just how close Bane came to dismantling Bruce's operation entirely in the comics. And if Spike keeps this stellar portrayl up, history could repeat itself in an even more gruesome and terrifying way - the exact way that an Ultimate Gotham City warrants it.
Best Post: Something about this post really captured my attention. It's simple and sweet, yet evoking plenty of foreshadowing. I guess I'll let it speak for itself.
SELINA KYLE
The Crime Doctor holds onto my arm tightly, pulling us through the muck and the sewage. I'm not even thinking about how nasty this is or how much it stinks. I'm looking back at the darkness, listening to the echoes of Nygma and Gordon talking. "Your boyfriend crazy," the Crime Doctor remarks.
"What? Oh, he's not my..." I trail off. It doesn't matter. For all I know, Gordon's going to kill him. This is why you don't get emotionally involved in our line of work. But what can I say? Nygma met me at a very vulnerable time in my life. A weak time in my life. I've learned from my mistakes. "Where are we going, anyway?"
"We? Not we." The Crime Doctor quickly glances at me before looking back ahead. "I go to safehouse, stay with cousin. You? You take care of self." She stops suddenly, and I nearly stumble into the river of feces. She examines my shoulder. "Your wound has healed nicely. You will be fine. Come."
After turning another corner, I see light from above. Looking up, I see a dislodged manhole cover. The Crime Doctor lets go of my arm and begins climbing up the ladder. I follow closely behind. We pop out in the middle of a dark Gotham street, illuminated only by dim streetlamps.
"This is where I leave," the Crime Doctor explains. "You might want to ice shoulder once you get to safety." And without another word, she dashes off into the Gotham night - moving surprisingly fast for someone of her size and stature.
There's a crash, and I spin around suddenly. Two glowing eyes stare at me from the darkness.

After staring at me for a moment, the cat scurries down a dark alley. It's just a stray. And so am I, I guess.
MVP (Most Valuable Player): Syn (Mercenary)
Yeah, not exactly the most predictable choice. But you'd be amazed at how much Syn and I talk behind-the-scenes about the game, and how many ideas he's developed towards it's future on a purely practical level. His suggestions have helped me step up my game, and he himself watches this thread like a hawk on a day-to-day basis, reminding me of applications I may have overlooked or providing feedback on in-game events or OOC discussion. For those reasons, it seemed natural to reinstate his old position as an AGM, and I'm glad to know he has my back in every decision the staff makes.

Bleh. It took me way too long to get that Lor post going. Not sure how many drafts I scrapped since the last Zod post.
Anyway, I decided to go ahead and get Lor's story going on Earth in advance of Zod's arrival rather than doing it after Zod reaches Earth... since that seems to be a plot element that is still a 'down the road' type thing.
Mxyzptlk won't be hanging around for much longer though, as I plan to write him out in my next post. Let me know if there are any issues with the way I've written him Spike, since my goal there was to set him up for what you'd said you plan to do with him later.

Since I'm well over a month late with posting, but want to get things moving with the character, I'll go ahead and re-apply. :O
. THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG .
Character Application
.Screen name: Batman
.Character you wish to portray: The Joker
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Villain
.Powers and physical attributes: Though he doesn't appear to have any real superhuman powers, The Joker is a metahuman, and actually boasts a lower level telekinesis - an ability of which he uses to control, manipulate, or essentially destroy anyone he comes into contact with, driving many of his victims past the point of insanity.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it): Though it is largely a point of contention, The Joker's origin is widely believed to be a rather simple one. A young troublemaker and a runaway from home, the boy that would become the maniacal clown did what many young people without a place to go would typically do - join the Circus. It was within this inner circle that he was exposed to a great magician named Belsaraph, leading the band of carnival dwellers known as "The Freakshow" on a tour from city to city.
Taking to the stage as a natural performer, the boy matured into a young man, and became Belsaraph's apprentice. Learning everything that the ringmaster knew about how to wow an audience and keep a show thrilling, the magician also shared his unique views of the world. He was eventually paid in kind by his pupil: with a lighter and some kerosene, as Belsaraph was burned alive in his trailer. The murder was covered up, and soon, the young apprentice renamed himself after his master and began to don the strange attire of a clown, leading the Circus onto bigger and more sinister goals. Though no one knew the true extent of his madness, the new Belsaraph had plummeted off of the edge of sanity, and began to kill. Not so much for a sane purpose anymore, more than sheer pleasure and the belief that his victims would be freed of their mundane existence.
Recently settling on the outskirts of Gotham City, Belsaraph's Brigade of The Bizarre has began to wow audiences with every performance. But behind the scenes, the mad clown has begun to target some of the city's most influential citizens, embarking on a plan to drive the entire city itself into a mind-controlled frenzy of lunacy - with The Joker rightfully placed at the center stage.
.The burning question - Why this character?: Well, I had set out to avoid doing this, actually. As fun as it was to play The Joker in the last incarnation of the game and explore his depth, I had really given myself little to play with in regards to the rivalry between him and Batman, knowing every step of the way where I would ultimately take him. But the more I hesitated, the more tempting it became after JB's departure to go back to my old self-menacing ways.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: There are several changes already in place, but Blaze and I had several good discussions on where we'd eventually take the Batman/Joker dynamic in this universe. So I intend to realize a couple of those steps myself. He isn't going to be the normal Joker that only lives to taunt his greatest foe - infact, Batman's suffering is quite down on the list of his priorities. He's setting his goals a little wider than that.
As a fan of what Blaze did with the character, I'm taking somewhat of a new-but-faithful approach to playing it... I only intend to stick around for a couple of arcs and menace a few people, anyway. And if JB hopefully ever returns, I'll hand the reigns back to him immediately so as to allow him to continue with his plans, giving me more to work with as Batman. Until then, I'm more than content to just put a smile on a couple of faces. Even if I have to carve them in there.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: How about the hollowed out skulls of a couple of dozen children and the elderly, all filled with candy, blood, and fecal matter?
.Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, in three paragraphs or more:
"What a lovely audience! Give yourselves a round of applause!"
The cheers that erupted from behind the barriers of the Gotham Carnival grounds could have shattered glass, following the departure of the closing act. Basked under the spotlight to receive such generosity was the grinning ringmaster known as Belsaraph, dressed sharply with a tall black top hat and a patterned crimson suit. Still high off of their excitement, the audience began chanting for an encore. And as far as the clown was concerned, who was he to deny them that opportunity?
With a chuckle, Belsaraph removed his hat and bowed. "Thank you, thank you. You're far too kind. And since you've all been such welcoming guests, we here at the Brigade of the Bizarre wish to extend our sincerest thanks in the best possible way we can. So how does an encore sound? Free of charge!"
Predictably, the audience expressed their agreement with even more and even louder cheers, particularly coming from the children. Placing his hat back ontop his head, Belsaraph clapped once and indicated the far left entrance to the stage.
"Then without any further adieu, my dear people of Gotham, I humbly welcome our opening act back to the stage... that death-defying acrobat himself, the wondrous Deathwing!"
As the entire room turned their attention towards the upper stage, focused entirely on the garishly-costumed acrobat as he began his routine, the ringmaster bit his tongue and grinned to himself, slipping quietly into the backstage area without notice. Those simple minded drones would be kept busy enough by a few cheap tricks, for the moment. It was time to move onto more serious matters. Or far less serious, as he preferred to think of them. Spotting his right hand reptilian-man rounding the corner with a mean glare on his face, Belsaraph mocked his own customary showmanship by pretending to have anything but disdain for Croc's presence. Because he knew just how much that picked away at the sensitive brute's nerves.
"Croc, m'boy! Keep an eye on things. There're a few bits and pieces of our operation that I need to attend to."
Croc nodded, but with a low snarl beneath his breath. Almost a muttering. The clown caught on fast, and raised a stern eyebrow. "Come again, scaleface?"
The hulking Croc resisted at first, but it didn't take long before The Joker's presence began to take it's toll on his feeble mind's weakened barriers. Finally, the metahuman revealed the words he had kept hidden under his breath, knowing he couldn't hide them from his master.
"I said, I... I ain't yer damn slave."
The Joker's smile faded. But not in the normal way, where it would just simply fade off of his face... this smile was turned upside down and pulled wide open into an all out expression evoking manic rage, managing to display itself through the makeup that would otherwise mask such emotion. Croc began to visibly panic, seeing this startlingly fast transformation take place.
"I didn't mean it, boss, I swear! You know I ain't got nothin' but respect for ya!"
Even standing several feet below Croc's height, the clown fearlessly grabbed him by the tank top he was wearing over his disfigured skin and brought him down to eye-level. Croc's black eyes closed in fear, as he began to tremble from the mere force of Joker's grip, tightening itself with every second that passed. The tension lasted a good while, to the point that Croc wasn't sure if he was going to live through the rest of the night. All he knew was that he had made the mistake of angering his employer...
Until the clown laughed. And laughed hard, having to stop himself by wiping away tears. Croc blankly stared at him as he composed himself, brushing off his coat's shoulders. "Oh, that's a good one, Croco! A real riot! 'Nothin' but respect for ya'! And combined with the look on your face..."
The Joker slapped Croc on the shoulder, harder than the brute expected. But jovial, nonetheless. "Priceless. But we're not going to kid ourselves, here. You hate my guts, that much is more than clear to me. You despise me, and rightfully so, with the horrible way that I treat you."
Croc shook his head, vehemently denying such a claim.
"No, Joker. Honest. You're the only guy with class around here."
Grinning, the clown began to walk with him in tow, wrapping an arm around the back of his large neck. "Oh, pish-posh. Nothing but simple words stemming out of fear. The fact of the matter is, you don't just hate me, you hate everything I stand for. Infact, if you had it your way, I'd probably be nothing more than a month's old stain on the carpet, with you still saving my organs as leftovers."
Croc was silent, as The Joker patted him gently.
"But it's okay, Croc! Really, I want you to let it all out, so we can finally settle these differences between us. All that anger and frustration... it's healthy for the soul. So come on at me. Give me a little taste of that rage you've been holding back, for all of these years of torment."
Looking at him with confusion, Croc stepped back from Joker's grip.
"Boss, I don't know what you're sayin', but there's no way that I'm-..."
"Perhaps you didn't hear me."
The Joker narrowed his eyes, plunging deep within the confines of the reptilian's mind, looking for that primal urge that kept Croc placed in line with his namesake. "I told you to come at me with everything you've got."
Instantaneously, Croc changed from a hesitant underling into a bloodthirsty animal, snarling and growling with increasing intensity as The Joker stepped back, amused by the sudden transformation. Waving him on, the clown continued to encourage the behavior.
"That's it. That's the stuff. Enough with the patsy act, sonny..."
The Joker brimmed with something that almost resembled pride. "Show me the real Killer Croc."
Roaring loud enough to awaken the dead, Croc menacingly snapped his jaws and assumed a pouncing stance, ready to lunge at his tormentor with full force. But by the time he finally did so, the clown produced a large electrical staff that he had been concealing behind his back the entire time, and violently struck him across the face with it.
Croc went flying into the opposite wall, more than weakened enough to stop any further attacks, but he wasn't given the chance to pick himself up. Because not a moment later, the staff smashed itself into Croc's temple, causing him to bleed out and fall back onto the floor.
The Joker stood above Croc's nearly unconscious body, breathing hard and leering with clear pleasure. "Y'see, Croco... that's the thing about having your way."
Striking down again with the electrical portion of the rod, the clown cackled madly as Croc screamed out in agonizing pain. Then he did it again. And again. Until each stroke was in direct unison with his next few maniacal words.
"YOU. DON'T. ALWAYS. GET. WHAT. YOU. ASKED. FOR!"
Finally, The Joker dropped the staff and stumbled back, overcome with fatigue. Croc was a hard beast to put down, but he had done it. The blood pouring off of Croc's head was enough to create a puddle, and the injury would have indicated serious brain damage to any other man. For the reptile-man, it'd probably mean nothing more than a splitting headache and a few bandages. Not to mention the concussion. But still unsatisfied, the clown dropped onto one knee and grabbed Croc's near lifeless head, bringing it back to eye-level with him.
"You think it's so easy, don't you? You and all of those other mindless apes that inhabit this city. You think that just because you've got a place to sleep at night, some decent food to eat, and a couple of channels that still work on the ole' tube, you're living good and decent lives. You're just so used to that feeling that it never once occurred to you that you were settling for less. Hell, settling for nothing!"
Dropping Croc's rather thick skull back onto the floor, The Joker began to wipe away the fresh blood from his suit. "Those people out there, they have no idea... absolutely no freakin' clue about where they're headed. They're content enough to watch some halfwit in spandex do a couple of cartwheels. But soon, my dear Croc, it's all going to become a different game for good ole' Gotham. The rules are going to be changing from their's to mine, and it's going to be nothing short of absolute anarchy. The most perverse kind of fun."
Placing his top hat back onto his head once more, The Joker resumed the soft tone of his Belsaraph persona, grinning down at the mangled heap that was once a ten foot tall beast.
"So yes, to put it mildly... you are my damn slave, Croc. Just like the city, and all of it's dirty little whores soon will be."
Strolling towards his dressing room to fetch a quick change of clothes, The Joker chuckled to himself, leaving Croc to bleed. Someone was bound to pick him up, eventually, if they could lift that much weight. And if they couldn't, well... at least the reptilian was getting a well-deserved nap.
"On with the show!"

Just as a note to Bounce, you were removed from the roster as Lor-Zod because you didn't make an IC post nor did you say anything OOC to make us believe you were still active. Because of that, I'd like to ask that you reapply - just for habits sake. Same for you, Mr. Majestic for Majestrate. You were removed from the roster as Majestrate for well over a month without an IC post.
And, in the future, if you've been removed from the roster on the first page of the thread due to excessive inactivity, please re-apply before making any posts in the IC thread.
Thanks. :)

That's a good point, and that goes for everyone. If any of you have been gone for awhile, be sure to check the rosters whenever you come back. Things might have changed to the point that you were let go without knowing it, so you might have to reapply. I noticed the same thing for Mr. Majestic, so he might need to reapply, too.
By the way, I added an updated Ultimate DC Index to the front page, for convenience sake. Now everyone can see who's been established and who hasn't. :)

Okay. Not sure why I was removed when I was only following after another character who was not removed from the roster, but here you go...
With Catman_prb's permission, allow me to say... KNEEL BEFORE MINI-ZOD!
I'm also introducing the Ultimate version of Krypto the Superdog as an NPC associated with this application if no one has any objections.
Character Application
.Screen name: Bounce
.Character you wish to portray: Ultimate Lor-Zod
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: That's a hard question. Because of his age, he's not really not able to be cast into any of those categories. I guess I'll say Walking The Line, as his "villainy" stems from emulation of his father and not as the result of any type of mens rea. He has that juvenile desire to please, which is easily adapted toward opposing goals depending on how the RP goes.
.Powers and physical attributes: Lor is a full-blooded Kryptonian, possessing all the qualities, attributes, and weaknesses of the species with a developing juvenile physiology. Lor-Zod's genetics differ from that of a natural Kryptonian's because of his conception and birth in the Phantom Zone, making him capable, despite his youth, of manifesting a scaled down version of the same powers as Superman when exposed to yellow sun radiation: Superhuman Strength, Stamina (so-called "Invulnerability"), Vision (telescopic, x-ray, ocular heat blasts), Breath, and Flight.
He is not as strong as a Kryptonian adult, but many times more so than a human. Absent that charge from a yellow sun, Lor-Zod is no different from a human child of similar age, other than he keeps the anatomical differences between Kryptonians and humans obviously. As with other Kryptonians, Lor-Zod is depowered and weakened by exposure to red sun radiation or kryptonite.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it): Lor-Zod is the son of General Dru-Zod and his lieutenant Ursa, born after their exile into the Phantom Zone and raised by both his parents. Dru-Zod had a Kryptonian canine, which has become Lor's companion and playmate as both are free spirits in the Phantom Zone. As a result of being born in the Phantom Zone, Lor has no concept of the universe beyond it nor does he speak any language other than Kryptonese, though would be capable of learning such if sufficiently exposed to another culture.
.The burning question - Why this character?: Honestly until the other day I'd never heard of this character. My DC fandom starts and ends with Batman generally, but I was doing a wiki crawl and stumbled across a picture of the character sacrificing himself in Action Comics Annual #11, flying out of Superman's reach with the words "up, up, and away" and had about a million and one ideas slam into my head. Ever since Smallville came out, with its references to Clark's childhood (shattering his crib, throwing a bully through a door when he was in the 3rd grade, etc), I've wondered how writers might develop a Kryptonian character as a child. Sadly, in the case of DC canon, the writer's appear to have elected to create him and write him out with equal speed in order to transform him into a teenager, though he's now even older. So this is me trying to flesh out a part of the Superman mythos that's been by large shunned: What does the world do with a Superchild? He'd be capable of feats both heroic and terrible. And that's more or less what I plan to do with him: He's large, in charge, and when he's done with his nap you will kneel before Zod!
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: The major departure is the relationship between Dru-Zod and Lor-Zod. That being, in the DCU there was no relationship. Lor-Zod didn't even recognize Dru-Zod or Ursa, so instead he emulated the example of Kal-El and Lois Lane. In the Ultimate continuity, there's an actual parent-child relationship between Dru-Zod and Lor-Zod. From Lor-Zod's perspective, his parents are like gods. Dru-Zod isn't just his father, he is his role model. Lor-Zod wants to be Dru-Zod. This makes him an interesting threat because he is very innocent and very dangerous at the same time, more so for those heroes who would be reluctant to harm a child. In that sense, Lor-Zod represents a unique weapon that Dru-Zod can use for the element of psychological warfare in addition to the physical damage that Lor-Zod is more than capable of inflicting on less advanced societies, such as humanity.
I'm also making changing his age from DCU continuity. As demonstrated visually in terms of appearance and in the dialogue he used, DCU Lor-Zod seemed to change between 6 and 12 in the various issues and titles he appeared in. He was stated by Lois to be 12, yet in his initial appearance he is playing with blocks which suggests elementary age vice middle school age. For UDC purposes I'm splitting the middle and assuming him to be around 8 years old.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: I hope Lor-Zod will be a source of some light-hearted storytelling and comedy relief in what has shaped up to be a gritty and film noir-esque RPG so to change things up a bit.
.Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, in three paragraphs or more:
"Kneel before ZOD!"
The words are uttered in Kryptonese, spoken by a treble voice as an unquestionable command though the person delivering the challenge is a poor example of statesmanship. The sandy haired child held his head high as he looked down on his subject, hand outstretched with a finger emphatically pointing down as though to further demonstrate his superiority. There's a plaintive whine, as the white furred canine just stares back at the boy. The tapered ears tilt to the front, then flatten against the top of the dog's head as it gives a snort and sits down on its haunches. But its master is not impressed.
"No! Don't sit," the youth objects, padding over to the animal to correct its posture. Lifting the dog's haunches, the boy pushed the canine down on its front paws. "Kne--" the boy repeated, only to be interrupted by insubordination from his minion. The canine's wet nose tapped against the child's face, tongue lapping at his face as the dog rebelled against its oppressor with a furious licking. A litany of childish laughter haunts the empty landscape around the pair, ghostly blurs shadowing the motions as the two begin to dart back and forth in pursuit of one another. They were both form without substance, little more than ghosts.
For most, the Phantom Zone was a hell of non-corporeal and non-linear existance that could stress the perceptions of the mind into a spiral of madness. To Lor-Zod, it was the only existance that he knew of. He'd heard stories of the universe and galaxies which existed in a reality outside of this one, but such were his bedtime stories and seemed no less like fairy tales. Grand tales of conquest and battles involving the noble warriors of Krypton that his father led, interplanetary intrigue and politics spanning the stars with jealousy of his father's greatness. And of course every great story had in it a great evil. The villainous Jor-El was the Mordred to his father's Arthur, the honorless black knight that had felled the great soldier through petty machinations, fear, and cheap jealousy. But his father would return, would fight the just battle to unite the universe under the banner of Krypton and the crest of the House of Zod. And in so save the universe from the evil of people like Jor-El.
"KNEEL BEFORE ZOD."
The child-wraith is stopped short by the words. Familiar words and, though he'd heard them spoken with authority his whole life, he'd never heard them said with such ferocity before. Had something happened? Had his father discovered a way to rejoin the galactic battle in the plane that was known as reality? Curious and unafraid, the child quickly moved through the ether to rejoin his parent's ship, with Krypto close behind, where he would see for himself what had drawn the ire of Zod.

That's generally because I didn't start checking up on the roster til a week or so ago (same time I was reinstated as AGM), so it's nothing personal, it's just when the roster started getting cleaned up and you got caught in the shaft on that. When I was looking up everyone's last post date, Catman had made a recent post - you hadn't. It's not like you're being treated differently - the timing just seemed to workout that way in this situation.

Best Post: Something about this post really captured my attention. It's simple and sweet, yet evoking plenty of foreshadowing. I guess I'll let it speak for itself.
Thanks, MB. That means a lot, especially concerning the post which I saw as little more than a throwaway to progress the story.

For the Metropolis folks... any one done anything yet with Pike Island? I think it may be an obscure reference and only got mention in Pre-Crisis DCU continuity, but it's an island outside of Metropolis Bay.
If it has not been mentioned in UDC yet, any objections to 1) my using it in UDC and 2) having a NASA research facility there?

I feel that I've gone as far as I can go with Kyle, so consider him dropped. To replace him:
. THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG .
Character Application
.Screen name: Catman_prb
.Character you wish to portray: J'onn J'onnz / The Martian Manhunter
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Walking the Line
.Powers and physical attributes: Flight, intangability, superstrength, superspeed, shape-changing, telepathy
.Origin and backstory (as you see it): Born as a Martian, J'onn J'onnz was apart of an ancient race of peace that populated the red planet of Mars. But such peace was short-lived, as tensions grew with the continuing debate between religion and science. When the war between Martian civilization grew hostile, J'onn became the forefront leader for retalliation, and was instantly labelled a war criminal for his subsequent acts of extremism. It was not until J'onn's own wife and child were killed in the conflict that a grief-ridden J'onn surrendered himself to the high council of Mars. Banished from his homeworld as an act of absolute punishment, J'onn was left to drift through space until he could find a new home. Using his telepathy, he settled himself on the planet Earth, studying the world's customs and species over a period of several hundred years. Posing as a human being, J'onn became John Jones, and quietly began a simple life in the city of New York.
But his secrecy amongst civilization would not last. Discovered by the secret organization C.A.D.M.U.S, J'onn was immediately captured and evaluated through various scientists and psychologists, working to discover his intentions. When they realized he posed no threat, they decided that his unusual talents would benefit their cause: to find and capture the blossoming number of metahumans appearing throughout the world. J'onn agreed to become their agent, but only to maintain a life of secrecy, after being threatened to be exposed to the world at large. Now, J'onn is a top ranking agent in the organization's ranks, and known only to few as a fabled metahuman hunter dubbed The Martian Manhunter.
(Backstory stolen from Batman and EB)
.The burning question - Why this character?: Because I have grand plans of the grandest nature, as every person who ever picks MM up does. Plus I can't remember the last time I played a proper super.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: I think the terrorist aspect is the main difference. Though I'd like to highlight the blurred line between terrorist and freedom fighter. J'onn wont be as...nice as he is in every other continuity.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: A character and a very much needed arc.
.Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, in three paragraphs or more:
This is how I came to be here...
****
<"Ambassador J'onn J'onnz of Hive Theta, for the crimes of treason, sponsoring terrorism against the state, conspiracy to commit terror, construction of nuclear grade explosives, murder of the first degree, and conspiracy to commit murder, you are hereby sentenced unto exile. Your actions against the state bring disgrace upon your hive, and upon the memories of your family. I can only hope that the long, cold time in space will allow you time to reflect upon your attrocities. May the Gods have mercy upon your soul. Take the prisoner from the dock,">
****
"You John Jones?" the dark figure asked. J'onn kept his eyes down, focusing on the glass tumbler with the amber liquid in. The stranger thumped his black gloved hand on the table.
"Ah said, are you John Jones?" the man asked. He was not heavy set, but he had the air of a man who was used to a fight. His hat was pulled down over his face.
"I am," J'onn said evenly, keeping his eyes on the drink.
"Huh. You don't look like much to me," the man said, eying him appraisingly. Anger flared within J'onn and he broke into the man's mind. The stranger winced and pulled back, clasping his hand to his head in a futile attempt to stop the pain.
"What is it that you want, Jonah Hex," J'onn said, retracting the mind probe.
"Ah've got an offer to make you," Hex snarled, gasping through the pain.
"From who?"
****
"Our name is CADMUS," the man in the black suit said "We're a relatively new organisation, designated to control metahuman activity,"
"Indeed?" J'onn said, pouring himself some milk to drink with his packet of oreos.
"Yes, and we've been tasked to recruit you. You've been on our records for quite some time Mr. Jones. Or perhaps you'd prefer the Martian Manhunter," the agent said, laughing at the little joke.
J'onn had knocked over the chair and the table, spilling milk over the floor, before the agent could even blink. The agent was pinned against the wall, a strong hand holding him by the throat.
"Don't you ever call me that. You have not earned that right," J'onn hissed, his eyes flashing read and revealing his rage.
"I've been told you use any means necessary Mr. Jones. I could order you - it is a time of war after all. You've had an easy ride so far. Don't force us to change that,"

.Character you wish to portray: Thomas Blake
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Walking the Line
.Powers and physical attributes: No powers. but a skilled melee fighter, shooter and tactician.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it): Thomas Blake was the son of a washed up soldier, who had served in Vietnam, and done nothing with his life since. He constantly teased and taunted his son for doing nothing, whereas he had "done his duty", and for this, occasionally hurt his family, because they were failures in his eyes.
When Thomas hit 16, he joined the army, to prove his Dad wrong, and to make his family proud. He worked hard, and developed his skills as a soldier, enjoying his time fighting for his country. He became a more popular and skilled member as his career went along, eventually getting promoted up to Coporal, and eventually even Sergeant. But, like all good things that happen to Thomas Blake, his military career ended in bloodshed.
On a mission in South America, Blake led his squad into an ambush, after disagreeing with his commanding officer. Blake barely made it out of the place alive, after he abandoned the rest of the squad so he could survive. He was dishonourably dismissed, and he disappeared before any other action could be taken.
As Blake stayed under the radar, a woman found him and gave him a proposition. She called herself Scandal, and she knew all about Blake, and asked if he'd like to carry on his line of work, freelance. A mercernary. Blake accepted, but decided to take one last trip home first, to visit his Dad. His Dad was disgusted at his son being thrown out of the army, but Blake replied with beating his father to a pulp. He'd had enough. At midnight on the very same day, Blake buried his father in the backyard, and left the house for good.
.The burning question - Why this character?: So I've gotten a bit behind with all my RPGs, so I'm starting from scratch, and keeping it small. This is the sort of character I've never really tried much, and would like to have a go at, as it seems fun and different.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: He's not just good with a knife, but all weapons, he's more of a mercenary than his regular universe counterpart, and he's definetly not a costumed villain.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: Fresh ideas, a different character and hopefully an interesting read.
.Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, in three paragraphs or more:
He ran down the dark street in absolute terror, knowing what would happen if he let up his speed for just a second. Hub City was an interesting place, which has a lot of cash to spend to kill off rivals and enemies. Perfect for any hired gun. The man reached the end of the street, and spotted a parked up car, where the rest of his gang waited, and leapt into the passenger seat.
"Heycock, get this thing moving! I've got someone on my tail," he yelled to the driver, buckling up as he did so.
But instead of replying, the driver just kept his head drooped back, not even moving to acknowledge him. The target stared at the driver for a moment, still trying to catch his breath.
"Come on!"
"He's dead, moron."
The man spun around to face the backseat, where his other two colleagues sat dead, blood dripping from their slit necks, and their killer sat between them, a bloodied knife clutched in his hand.
"Boo."
Before the man could even blink, Blake swiped at him with his blade, slicing across his chest, and stabbing him when he finally reached the heart. The man keeled over, and Blake made his way out of the car, climbing over the bodies next to him. He stepped out, as a black car pulled up next to him, and Scandal stepped out.
"Did it all go to plan?"
"Yep, you chased him right to the trap."
"And he's definetly dead?"
Blake pulled a explosive trigger from his pocket, and hit the button, the dead gang's car going up in flames behind him.
"Pretty sure."

Having not heard anything regarding the question I asked about Pike Island, I'm going to go ahead and start using it in Lor-Zod's plot. I do, however, have another question for the Metropolis crew (mainly Andy or Spike)...
Have either of you, or anyone else, done anything yet with the character of Dr. Dabney Donovan? If not, do you have plans to in the future or is he available if I wanted to use him? I have a plot angle for him, but I don't want to 'Ultimate-ize' him for an NPC if one or both of you are possibly thinking about bringing Project Cadmus into UDC and my doing so would disrupt any plans.

I personally hate the character of Martian Manhunter, so I'll admit to not reading those posts very closely (which is in no way a slight against your writing, I'm just not a MM fan and never have been). But that's why I ask, so I avoid stepping on toes because of a detail I missed.

. THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG .
Character Application
.Screen name: Nimibro
.Character you wish to portray: Lonnie Machin/Anarky
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: villain
.Powers and physical attributes:
As Lonnie:
Genius intellect, around 5'8, brown hair and extremely thin.
As Anarky:
Various weapons such as smoke bombs, tear gas, homemade explosives and a cane for hand-to-hand combat. Unnaturally tall, around 6'8 wears a golden mask and is draped in red robes and sheets.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it): Lonnie Machin was born in 1993 to a regular family. He was a child prodigy and a very talkative child. When he was 15, he tried obsessively tom publish his theories about how the police, army and other forces are just a conspiracy for the government to gain profit, and was even pushed to the brink of insanity by himself. He was percripted to Ritalin and is now living a normal life-but for how long?
.The burning question - Why this character?: well, the character is an intriguing character, and possibly the deepest batman villain. He sees himself as an ironic case: he says that the police are man or anarchy, yet under the name of the law, while he sees himself as a man of order and law, yet calls himself Anarky. He doesn't believe in the police, the government or even the American law, simply because he thinks there's a conspiracy behind them that makes him personally and the lesser men such as homeless and poor people suffer.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: well, the character itself wouldn't be very different from the old self, but he would be older (he was 12 when he first appeared, but he would be 17 in this version) and he would go fanatic with the misleading belief of his that anarchy IS law , rather than believing he establishes law with it. He would also be based more on proving and "exposing" his theories about government conspiracies and crimes against the country for profit, more than believing he could solve third-world economy problems.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: I have some experience and a deep and philosophical villain and character.
.Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, in three paragraphs or more (not my actual first post, maybe I'll use it later):
I walk in the street, my black boots going through the dirt and filth that is this city. I stand in front of maybe the biggest, fattest lie in America, this figure of anarchy and chaos calling itself the police.
As my men, the homeless, the poor, the real victims of the government's secret crimes, all to get poor men poorer, step into the building with the tools I gave them, brass canes and homemade smoke bombs, they exact their revenge on the people who got them to this place.
As chaos ensues, my best friend and ally, "legs", comes right to me, uptading me. "mr. A, we got everyone busted, or a hostage". "What do you mean in "busted"?" "well, y'know, unconscious…" "okay, bring me the camera and I'll do the rest. Take one of the hostages and tell them to get me commissioner gordon to a little talk."
As I get the camera, I start filming. "hello commissioner Gordon. I may look like a villain, but I am actually no worse than you, and even better. i took to mind your'e special technique, calling yourself, men of chaos and destruction, men of law, a shielding force, a "police", so me, a man who gives REAL power to the people, REAL protection, call myself-anarky, a misleading name, just. Okay, your application's okay but I just have a few minor problems with your writing style. New setences, even dialogue, should begin with capital letters (sorry, it's a petpeeve). Also, when you have dialogue, it helps to start the speech of a new person on a new line so as not to confuse the reader. Also, spacing paragraphs or large packs of dialogue makes it easier on the eyes to read. As before, I'd suggest you see how the other RPGers write their stuff so you can make your posts the best they can be.
All that aside, you're approved as Anarky.

"Yep, you chased him right to the trap."
"And he's definetly dead?"
Blake pulled a explosive trigger from his pocket, and hit the button, the dead gang's car going up in flames behind him.
"Pretty sure."

. THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG .
Character Application
.Screen name: Eddie Brock
.Character you wish to portray: Kara Zor-El / Linda Lee Danvers / Supergirl
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Heroine
.Powers and physical attributes: As a Kryptonian, on Earth Linda possesses all the same abilities as her world-famous cousin. Namely: invulnerability, superstrength, superspeed, heat vision, x-ray vision, flight, superhearing, and arctic breath. Linda is also highly trained in martial arts, as she possesses a natural aptitude for learning quickly.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it): Zor-El and Allura, survivors of the lost Kryptonian city, Argo. Their home planet had been destroyed and Argo was coming to an end, the peril around them engulfed the whole city, soon destruction was upon them. Zor-El had remembered the device his now deceased brother used to send off their only child to a new life with safety. Quickly building something similar to the device, him and Alura had to say their farewell to their only child, Kara Zor-El. The baby was sent off to Earth, in hope of finding the baby's cousin, Kal-El. Because Zor-El and Allura had programmed the device to a steady landing, Kara's course was changed slightly and she ended up in the streets of Chicago, with no destruction caused.
Fred Danvers and Sylvia Lee-Danvers had recently encountered trouble conceiving. So when a beautiful fair haired baby girl was left on their doorstep one morning, they believed their prayers had been answered. There had been one note left attached to the glowing cloth that was wrapped around the beautiful baby girl. It was in a cryptic type language, that no one could translate. The two took the girl in and adopted her. Naming her Linda Lee Danvers, after Fred's grandmother, Linda started to grow up under the average lifestyle of a girl in Chicago.
Sylvia and Fred had always known Linda wasn't exactly 'average'. Her looks were far too perfect and her build was extraordinary. Never gaining that much weight and being quite tall, Linda grew up to be the popular one in her school. At the age of just fourteen, the Danvers were all held hostage.
Sylvia was six months pregnant at the time and Fred was near his promotion in the Chicago Police Department. Someone Fred had taken down almost a year ago for murder massacres, had escaped from Arkham Asylum and broken into Sylvia, Fred and Linda's apartment. Holding them all by gun point. During the incident, the criminal had shot at Linda, only to discover the bullet had not harmed her. Scared and frightened, the criminal ran off, too late for the police to catch him once Sylvia had called them. From then on, Linda attended tense martial arts classes. After six months, she was soon top of the class, earning her black belt. This was not normal.
After a year of complete paranoia from the hostage situation, Linda finally decided to embrace what had happened and come out of her shell as a new person. Fred and Sylvia showed Linda the note that was left with her the day they found her, admitting that they adopted Linda and Linda is not biologically related to them. As soon as Linda tried to read the cryptic message, she would have constant flash backs, vivid and blurry mirages of a young looking couple, fearing for their lives as explosions surrounded them. Screams of horror and a language Linda could finally understand.
After a few vivid dreams of a weird mirages, Linda could finally understand what the note had said.
"Kara Zor-El of Krypton, our precious chid. If you want to know your true origins, origins that do not belong to the third rock from the sun, find Kal-El, as he is the only one that can tell you of your Kryptonian qualities. We shall forever be with you. - Allura In-Zee and Zor-El."
The underneath, a large symbol - translating to Hope. Not fully understanding the message, Linda at first ignored the riddles. As she lived on knowing that she was not indeed earth-born, she could add up all the clues about her lives. Why the bullet did not affect her, why she is more beautiful than the rest and taller, why she has excellent martial arts talents.
After Sylvia had given birth to a baby girl named Edna Danvers, Linda decided it was time she became this new up-front girl persona full-on. She became much more happier in life as she grew, discovering various abilities. But she knew deep down, beneath the happiness she could spend with her family, that she was still left clueless to her real past. Fred and Sylvia swore never to tell anyone about Linda and who she really is, as Linda feared that it was not time to be a new minority in America just yet.
But now, residing in Keystone City at the age of 17, Linda has found traces of the hero 'Superman' that have lead her to believe he is indeed the one and only 'Kal-El'. Taking up the persona Supergirl, to attract the attention of Superman himself, she set out and became a teen heroine of Keystone City. Now, where superheroes are not fully accepted, Linda finds it hard to get close to Superman, whereas - if she did, her past would be revealed.
*Origin by J'adore
.The burning question - Why this character?: I love the Superman family, and if you can't be the Man of Steel, the Girl of Steel isn't a bad trade-off. :cwink: Seriously, though, Kara is an interesting character in her own right, especially if she's allowed to develop on her own. And as much as I love Green Arrow and Catwoman, it'll be nice to play a character with some powers for once. :oldrazz:
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: Well, I'm following J'adore's origin, which is a bit of a departure from typical character lore. I plan on doing some other things that'll develop Supergirl in some different directions.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: Well, this will make my second female character - and one of only four in the game - so I'm breaking up the sausagefest a bit. Additionally, this will be my third character, and I think I've been pretty consistent with the other two, so I guess you could add "enthusiasm" to the list.
.Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, in three paragraphs or more:
As I walk through Keystone, I pass a street vendor selling custom t-shirts. Normally, I wouldn't give this any thought, but one of the shirts catches my eye. The black shirt bears a familiar red symbol, one that I wear proudly on my chest. Of course, most people are more familiar with it when they see someone else wearing it.
"Mommy, look!"
I glance over my shoulder at the excited young boy pointing at the shirt.
"It's a Superman shirt!"
I can't help but smirk. It doesn't really bother me that people associate the symbol with him instead of me. After all, he did have it first. And, besides, I'm only wearing it to get his attention - which, admittedly, hasn't worked out so well so far. Of course, I haven't been giving it much effort lately. I don't even know why I'm supposed to be meeting him, anyway...
"How much for the shirt?" the woman asks.
"Twelve dollars," the vendor explains.
The woman takes out her wallet and hands the man a twenty. As she receives her change, she grabs the shirt and hands it to her smiling son. "'S' for Superman!" the kid shouts excitedly as he spins around in circles, holding the shirt like a cape.
Everyone thinks it's an 'S.' I don't blame them. That's what I thought when I first saw it, too, before I realized the significance of the symbol. But once I knew what it meant, wearing that 'S' on my chest took on a whole new meaning. The 'S' doesn't stand for Superman - or even Supergirl, for that matter.
It stands for hope.

Would you mind a hero from the Phantom Zone little league? Not that I'm looking to have him be a member of the JL, Lor's too young even for a Teen Titans team, but I wouldn't mind having him associated with the group as a tag-along if nothing else. Plus it'd be nice to interact with some other PCs.

Batman
07-31-2010, 06:57 PM
There are both. Way I decided to play it was that there were starfish-like creatures that had fallen to Earth, given Cats' post detailing one attaching to Dr. Light. But the side effect of their presence on Earth is a virus epidemic/infection that spreads across the areas they land in, affecting people in a manner much more akin to a plague.
The guy that Batman encountered, specifically, had a very bad reaction to the virus once it started making it's way to Gotham. It resulted in lesions under his skin and other symptoms, among the mind control gimmick that Starro's typically employed.

Well, boys and girls, that was my last Green Arrow post. I wrapped up the Shado storyline a little quicker than anticipated so that no one would feel hamstrung by it. Who knows? Maybe someone else will feel compelled to take up the mantle. If you do, you have my blessing.
In the meantime, I needed to clear up the space for:
. THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG .
Character Application
.Screen name: Eddie Brock
.Character you wish to portray: District Attorney Harvey Dent
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Hero
.Powers and physical attributes: None. Harvey is just a normal guy, though he has been able to hold his own in a bar fight.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it): Harvey's childhood was less than ideal. After losing his mother Lucy to cancer, his father Benjamin was never quite the same man. Nonetheless, Harvey continued to excel away from home. His natural charisma and quick mind made him one of the sharpest kids in his class. He received his acceptance letter to Harvard on the same day that his father committed suicide.
Rather than letting this slow him down, Harvey instead only became more determined. After graduating from Harvard Law, Harvey began working at a prosecutor's office with his law school sweetheart, Gilda Grace Gold. Despite occasionally being opponents in the courtroom, Harvey and Gilda grew very close off the job and began a long-term relationship.
Per Gilda's recommendation, Harvey recently ran for District Attorney and won in a landslide victory.
.The burning question - Why this character?: We're more than halfway through the first season, and Harvey Dent has only been used sparingly? Are you kidding me? I'm not sure why more people aren't chomping at the bit to get this role, but I'll gladly take up the mantle if no one else will.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: Rather than suffering an abusive childhood, Harvey's psychological scars will be much more subtle. I think it's important to display the chinks in this White Knight's armor before his accident. Otherwise, the change from idealistic do-gooder to amoral vigilante is too drastic, too hard to swallow. We have to begin to believe over the course of time that Harvey isn't who we hoped he would be. Also, regarding the accident, it won't be the same story we've seen before.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: All types of mayhem, debauchery, and general unpleasantness. You know, the usual.
.Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, in three paragraphs or more:
"What are all these?" I ask, referring to the unmarked boxes sitting on the floor next to my desk.
Vernon Fields, my new assistant, pokes his mousy head into my office. "They're Janice Porter's old casefiles," he squeaks before disappearing whence he came.
At this news, I frown. Janice. Holiday's most recent victim. She ran against me in the District Attorney race and lost. She graciously accepted a position as Assistant District Attorney under me. We worked pretty well together, and I was just beginning to feel like I was getting to know her. Headstrong, independent, and a damn good lawyer. It wasn't right what happened to her.
The phone on my desk rings, breaking my train of thought. Stepping around the boxes, I pick it up and say, "District Attorney Harvey Dent speaking."
"Oh, wow. I love when you talk dirty to me."
I smirk. "Hey, Gilda. What's up?"
"Oh, nothing," she sighs in a way which conveys everything except, "Oh, nothing." "Just finding out how long you intend on keeping me waiting tonight."
I glance at the clock. "Well, I thought I was getting out of here pretty soon, but now I've gotta sort through Janice's old casefiles," I explain as I clear away some of the papers from my desk. After a moment of silence, I ask, "You still there?"
"Yeah, yeah, I am. I'm just thinking about what happened to her."
"I know."
After another sigh, Gilda continues in a more upbeat tone, "Say, I seem to remember that you blew me off for dinner last week, and you promised that you'd make it up to me this week."
"Oh? I don't seem to remember any such promise," I reply playfully.
"Shall I have the stenographer read it back to you?"
Laughing, I say, "No, that won't be necessary. Look, I can probably slip out of here for an hour. Maybe two."
"That's all I'm asking."
"Okay, good. Pick you up in fifteen minutes."

Blackest Night is over. Done with Sinestro.
Screen name: Byrd Man
Character you wish to portray: Det. Charles Victor "Vic" Sage/The Question
Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Hero
Powers and physical attributes: No powers, but Sage has a keen detective mind and is skilled at Martial Arts.
Origin and backstory (as you see it):
Born in Hub City, Charles Victor Sage had an ordinary childhood and family. Graduating from high school, Vic spent a few years moving around the country, working odd jobs and trying to find a purpose for his life. He was working as a security guard in Opal City when he answered a classified ad to join the Gotham City Police Department. After a few years working as a patrolman, Sage was sent downtown to work for the Criminal Investigations Division's Sexual Victims Unit. A sucessful five year career in SVU lead to a transfer to the big leagues: Homicide.
He got married to a beautiful woman, but she didn't realize he was married to the job beforehand. She divorced him when he got in so deep that she only saw him at breakfast as a hopeless slump of a man. He'd made himself invest so hard in the job because he had to pick up all the slack from the corrupt cops. He knew there were good men in the force, but there were so little of them compared to the many corrupt that he couldn't stand it. He knew he had to go beyond the law. He found himself with a murder case, which couldn't be solved by any lawful means. When he dragged in the suspects their allies in the force dragged them right back out. He waited till dark, using a balaclava to hide himself, and broke into the suspect's house and beat the answers out of him. The suspect handed himself in the next day. Sage had beaten corruption, and took it upon himself to continue the mission, to win every case, lawful or not. The next day he broke into Star Labs, hoping to find something to aide his crusade. Inside, he found a prosthetic skin, that could bind to your face with the addition of a gas. He stole as much as the gas as possible and took the prosthetic, making himself a new identity. He was The Question.
Now, after a long investigation with Lt. Edward Nygma, in which he utilized his Question persona to get answers, Sage has finally caught the serial killer known as Holiday.
The burning question - Why this character?: I loved playing Vic. With as drab and gloomy Ult. Gotham is, I think we need a humorous vigilante out on the streets. I only dropped him because I felt he'd work better as an NPC with my Holiday storyline. With that wrapping up, I'm back.
How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: This version of Q is a cop, not a journalist. Also, as Q, he's not as effective as Batman and Red Hood when it comes to fighting crime, often surviving on pure luck.
What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: Decent RPer with experience
Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, in three paragraphs or more:

The sun is slowly setting as I look out my apartment window. I take the last few drags off my cigarette as I toss it out the window and turn to the couch. I nap for a few hours to kill some time. The digital clock next to me reads 12:30 AM.
After stretching and taking a leak, I walk into the bedroom and pull all my stuff from the closet.
I take my time putting on my suit. The shirt and pants, shoes and tie. I slip my shoulder holster and slide my back up .45 into the holster. I don't really like to use guns, but it always pays to come to a dance prepared.
I apply the mask to my face and finish off the outfit with my fedora and coat.
It's fully dark by the time I climb down the fire escape and hit the streets.
http://img504.imageshack.us/img504/2180/57528748720question400.jpg
While the mask is cool as hell and hides my identity it has a big downside: it's hard to smoke a cigarette when you don't have any lips.
**************
I hop in my car and hit Bennett Beach around 2. From across the street, I get a good look at Piotr Romanov's place. Its a decent two story house. The light in the living room goes out as he shuts and locks the door behind him. I stay down and watch as he hops into his SUV and hauls ass down the street.
I count off a half minute before I start my car and follow. Romanov hits the expressway and keeps on driving into Bayview. I hang back and watch Romanov pass the cargo containers. He comes to a stop next to a few other cars.
Pulling out my binoculars, I scope out the scene. There's Romanov with Mikahel Agron, the Chechen's number two man. Things get interesting as Carmine Falcone's lesbian daughter, Sofia Gigante, comes on to the scene. The appearance of drug kingpins Jeff and Mike Skeevers makes it down right skin-tingling.
According to the underworld intel, the Skeevers only truck with Maroni or Cobblepot's people when it came to getting their drugs. If they're going to the Russians and the Falcones, I smell treachery, which is no small feat considering I don't have a nose right now.
Slipping out of my car, I creep through the shadows and try to listen in on the meeting.
Sofia: "You made a wise choice coming to us. Maroni is a snake. And as you can see, we actually have efficient muscle. Unlike Maroni's drunken Irishmen."
Jeff Skeevers: "What do you say we wrap this up right now. Me and Mike are prepared to buy a 100 kilos of coke and dope right now, straight up in cash."
My kingdom for a microphone.
Uh-oh. I feel it. Tickling the back of my throat. Don't you dare. Don't you dare. No....no
"*Cough*"
Agron: "What the **** was that?!"
Guns drawn, footsteps coming my way. I see Sofia's fat foot and kick hard, driving her to the ground.
"Oh, ****. It's Rorschach!"
I'm running through the shadows, dodging gunfire.
"I'm not Rorschach!" I yell as I hold on to my hat and dive behind a cargo container for cover.

FWOOSH, mother****ers!
. Application .
. THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG .
Character Application
.Screen name: SenseiofCheese
.Character you wish to portray: Thaal Sinestro
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Hero
.Powers and physical attributes: As a native of the planet Korugar Sinestro's natural strength and stamina are slightly below that of a human. However as a wielder of a Green Lantern power ring Sinestro is capable of creating hard light constructs of whatever he wishes, granted he possesses the willpower. And he does.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it): Thaal Sinestro was born on the planet Korugar in Space Sector 1417. Showing great promise as a child he was expected to become one of the greatest military minds of the Korugan world. But when he was a young man the Green Lantern Jewelius Blak arrived on Korugar and chose Sinestro as her apprentice.
Serving under Blak, Sinestro was at the head of the pack in every possible way. When Blak was killed during a rescue mission the Guardians made Sinestro a full fledged member of the Lantern Corps, his designation; Green Lantern. Sinestro became one of the most celebrated Green Lanterns of all time, displaying countless feats of strength, will and bravery and helping to bring peace and justice to the galaxy. Awarded Honorary Lantern status for his service, Thaal Sinestro was partnered with another celebrated Green Lantern; William Hand.
For over 10 years the two worked together, going on operations deemed too dangerous for other Lanterns, spearheading rescue missions and attacks, and saving each other's lives more often than the other could count. But one day, 5 years ago, when on a routine follow-up mission William Hand snapped and attacked his longtime partner with a mysterious black energy and vanished.
Returning, more dead than alive, to the Guardians Sinestro told them of what had transpired. Refusing to believe their legendary 'Chosen One' Hand had gone rogue, but finding no evidence to the contrary, the Guardians of Oa demoted Sinestro back to a routine Green Lantern. Although they officially accepted Sinestro's account of what had happened, they deemed his sighting of a black energy as a dying man's hallucination. Word soon spread throughout the ranks of the Lantern Corps that the great Sinestro had gone crazy, some believing he killed William Hand out of jealousy.
For the last 5 years Sinestro has continued to serve as a Green Lantern, his resentment growing, and searched for any sign of William or the black energy. Suddenly, Blackest Night fell. William Hand, or the monster that used to be William Hand, mysteriously reappeared. Laying waste to countless Lanterns and their homeworld of Oa, Hand threw the Corps into disarray. But, at last , he was defeated by the joined efforts of a somewhat misfit group of Lanterns.
Proven right and redeemed, Sinestro will now do all in his power to help rebuild the Lantern Corps to what it was before, ushering it into a new, Brightest Day, hopeful for the future.
.The burning question - Why this character?: When I first applied for William Hand and paired him up with Sinestro for his origin story I felt a desire to just play Sinestro. If I recall I made an attempt at it a while back but got swept up and lost in the Blackest Night, which I had thrown myself in the middle of. Now, seeing as the Blackest Night is over and Byrd, who ushered Sinestro through that inaugural arc, has let him go I decided to try my luck once more.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: Aside from the origin being different, I have no immediate plan to rush straight to making him the villain many would. Instead I'm going to follow Byrd's cue, making him very much a hero who could very well fall prey to his own demons, but could also fight them tooth and nail.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: Some of that good old Icelandic charm. And a massive penis.
.Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, in three paragraphs or more:
We face extinction.
The Corps lies shattered. Countless brave souls perished against William Hand, a man I once called brother, and his legion of undead. The Guardians of Oa, our leaders, are lost to the abyss. Some say what happened is due in large part to the Guardians' refusal to listen. That had they listened to the words of a raving Lantern, 5 terran years ago, some of the destruction that followed could have been avoided.
But I do not. There is no use in obsessing over the past. We could just as well lay down and die right now.
We face extinction.
"In brightest day,"
The Corps lies shattered.
"In blackest night."
Countless souls have perished.
"No evil shall escape my sight."
But there is hope. As long as there is one, single power ring out there, shining against the black, there is hope.
"Let those who worship evil's might,"
We will rebuild. We will rise up. And once more we will bring order to the galaxy.
"Beware my power..."
Now let's get to work.
"Green Lantern's light!"

Sure the group at Star Labs realizes to subdue the creature in space they need a Satellite that can generate enough power for the audio EMP to work on the creature without taking away the EMP signal from the smaller satellites which are concentrating on earth or overloading them.
LexCorp has a such a Satellite known as "The Titan" and they have to negotiate with Lex to get his permission to use it. Keep in mind these people see Lex as shrewd but fair businessman and humanitarian they don't know that he has a dark side to him.

Amazing how hard it is to get back into the groove of writing. It's like riding a bike that has a dildo made of knives instead of a seat.
Anyway, for those interested, I kind of bring up how the Lantern Corps will be structured after Blackest Night. I plan on building on the little I revealed in my post later on. Or, of course, if someone else wants to chip in, feel free.
Also, needless to say, if anyone was thinking of picking up Larfleeze, we should have a chat. I don't remember if the guy who applied for Larfleeze (And basically created the Ultimate DC Lantern Corps in the process) had ever posted but, either way, I'll be using the Larfleeze origin in his app for my arc.

Alright, I'm taking a break from Harley (at least as a direct PC) to do this arc with Larfleeze which I am very excited for. I intend on continuing Harley's story through Jason as an NPC until the time comes when I once again, pick her up, assuming she's still open.
.THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG .
Character Application
.Screen name: Syn
.Character you wish to portray: Larfleeze - Green Lantern of Sector 2828 (Partner Blooch)
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Hero :ninja:
.Powers and physical attributes: (Green) Power Ring
.Origin and back story (as you see it):
Lantern Corp.
Born a child of the planet Okaara, Larfleeze grew into a strong willed adult. He lived his days as a teacher - a scholar, always striving to learn as much as he possibly could.
One day, Larfleeze witnessed a robbery in his hometown. As the other citizens watched, Larfleeze stepped in and fought the criminals - hoping to stop them. While slightly halting their escape, he ultimately failed and was injured in the skirmish. The current Green Lantern of the sector witnessed his act of bravery and recruited him into the Lantern Corp.
Showing great promise during his training, Larfleeze soon grew into a powerful agent - using the knowledge he has obtained to fuel his mind and wield his ring imaginatively and forcefully. He soon was assigned to a sector (his own) along with the Lantern who recruited him, having recently lost his partner during a case.
For years Larfleeze worked with his partner in Sector 2828, upholding the law and bringing down countless thugs and criminals. But, during a mission that still remains shrouded in mystery, Larfleeze's partner was killed and his ring was missing when the body was discovered. During the trial on Oa, Larfleeze was investigated thoroughly. After a grueling time, Larfleeze was released and reinstated as a Lantern due to no evidence being able to trace him to the cause of his partner's death or the disappearance of his ring.
Larfleeze now works in Sector 2828 with his new partner, Blooch. The two serve their sector with everything they have, doing all they can to uphold order and peace.
(Yeah, I ganked this from MFH. SO WHAT?! :cmad:)
.The burning question - Why this character?: MFH made me intrigued, already liked the character. Why the heck not?
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: Larfleeze is a loyal and upstanding member of the corp, but due to what happened to his last partner, there is now doubt about his abilities (or the truth to the story). I intend to show what happened there and also what lies at the pit of his soul...
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: Gonzo as a green lantern... and Daffy Duck. Yes, I stole that from Johns.
.Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, in three paragraphs or more:
The infinite void of space - a wide expanse of nothingness but faint shimmering lights far off in the distance. By planetary terms, it is best described as a desert - miles upon miles of emptiness between galaxies, nebulas, and stars. Only once a being enters this void does he realize how vast it is truly.
Amidst the black backdrop, two beeming figures move forward. Their bodies are wrapped in a emerald glow - outlining their physical features, as well as the symbol brandished on their chests. They are green lanterns, protectors of peace - police of the stars.
"Larfleeze," one of the lanterns speaks, garnering the attention of his partner. "Why do all the lanterns back on Oa despise you?" Larfleeze squints his eyes, scrunching the muscles in his face together as he fights off the unwanted emotions within him.
"You know the answer to that, Blooch," he tells the other coldly, keeping his eyes fixed forward. It is not the question itself that bothers him, but the underlying meaning behind it. Larfleeze knows why his partner has asked this question of him - and he knows the box of secrets that is screaming to be opened.
"You're old partner?" He asks, faking innocence.
"Yes," he grunts. "And, as I told you before, I didn't kill him."
"Then why does everyone think you did?"
"You really have to ask?" He asks in irritation. "He was my mentor, Blooch. A greater man than I could ever hope to be. Everyone on Oa loved him, and to be honest ... so did I." Blooch stares at his partner intently, feeling a strange sense of overdramatics coming from his ally. "We go on an undercover mission - a dangerous one, at that. Everyone said I wasn't ready, but he stook up for me. He told them they were wrong about me, and that all I needed was a chance."
"How did the Guardians feel about it?"
"You know how they are," he growls, bearing his teeth. "But they let me go ... and now ... all of Oa regrets it."
"Well, you were investigated, right? Isn't that proof you're innocent?" Larfleeze closes his eyes, shutting them tightly. His neck constricts and his throat closes as he prepares to speak.
"They never told you what the case was classified as at its end, did they?" He says, his words seeming to cause him pain. The aura around him suddenly begins to quiver, and the green light begins to shift between green and white as it nearly shifts to a new spectrum. "Inconclusive. There was no evidence, Blooch. And a lantern, nor being, can be convicted without evidence." As Larfleeze finishes talking, he lets out a long breath as his body begins to relax. The aura around him once more returns to a dark green, and his eyes open slowly.
"So," Blooch begins, slightly hesitant. "Did you do it, then?" Larfleeze suddenly stops, turning himself around to face his partner face to face. As Larfleeze looks directly into his partner's face, the corner of his mouth begins to rise - and an unsettling expression comes over him.
"What do you think?"
.Do you know how to post pictures on the Hype?: Yes. Good luck finding a pic with Larfleeze as a GL. :o

Finally caught up with what I've missed over the past few days. I'll run with the Atom's solution and message for Superman, but it'll take a couple of posts for it to reach him since sound doesn't travel in space and I would need to get Clark back in our atmosphere before he'd be able to hear it.

The first and last pics of Bane holding a gun are from Bane of the Demon, where he bangs Talia, cuts a swath through the League of Assassins, and then replaces Batman as Ra's' heir.
The pic with the gunshots ricocheting off the ground is from the Tabula Rasa storyarc, way back in the old Batman: Gotham Knights book.

. Application .
. THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG .
Character Application
.Screen name: J'adore
.Character you wish to portray: Leslie Willis
.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: Walking The Line
.Powers and physical attributes: Has the ability to generate and propel charges electricity ranging from minor to fatal voltage. Can do everything from traveling on electricity lines to blasting it at full force. She can also store electricity, aswell as control the objects that our powered by electricity, by increasing the voltage until it malfunctions.
.Origin and backstory (as you see it): Leslie Willis. Born to biker chick turned armed criminal, Shiela Willis. Leslie's father was unknown, but the only thing she remembers her mother telling her is that he had an 'electric touch'.
At the age of four, Leslie's mother was reported dead, from severe electrocution and burns to the body. Almost Immediately, Leslie was slung into a Foster Home, with various other abounded kids. From time to time a young chinese woman would visit Leslie, telling Leslie that she was her 'Social Worker' and would help Leslie find new parents. She would sit at the home for ours, monitioring every move that Leslie made. If she showed any sign of odd behaviour, she would pluck Leslie out of the crowd and make Leslie become isolated from the rest of the kids.
This life continued for Leslie, until she was 18 and old enough to live by herself. Being alone and isolated for most of her lives, the only real person she felt comftorable with was her old social worker. After trying to track her down and failing, Leslie soon befriended radio DJ Etta Candy and the two girls soon became best friends. Etta's behaviour became increasingly suspicious, causing Leslie to investiage into Etta's life. She was actually an undercover police officer, who went under the disguise of a wild radio DJ in order to get more information on Leslie's untracable father. Disgusted by her betrayal, Leslie left the radio and Etta for good. In seeking revenge, Leslie decided to try and break-up the radio by cutting it's wires which lead to the transmitters. Following them to the outside alleyway where rain had erupted, Leslie touched the bare wires, giving her the shock of her life.
Her powers were unleashed as he absorbed the electricity and the whole radio station's power was shut down. At first, Leslie was scared and afraid of her new powers, but after using them to steal a few cars and steal some petty cash, she became more and more like her mother. Until one day she was approached by the young chinese woman who was once her social worker, her name Jessica Midnight.
.The burning question - Why this character?: I love her abilities and her annoyance towards superheroes. She had great potential in DC comics but was never expanded, so I wish to do that myself.
.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: She wont be the Leslie you see in the comics or the animated show, she'll infact be closley tied in with a secret organisation soon to be revealed.
.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: An electric touch?
.Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, in three paragraphs or more:
It was unusual weather for the streets of Metropolis. But, Leslie Willis enjoyed the crackle of lightning and thunder, letting her bold blonde hair soak up the rain and her skin feel the smooth droplets fall onto her pale cheeks. Sticking her long, thin hands into her neon blue trench coat, Leslie looked straight ahead, watching the busy people of Metropolis rush to catch a taxi. She smirked to herself, shaking her head slightly, causing her wet hair to release small droplets, falling onto her shoulders.
She walked straight passed the Daily Planet, her eyes fixed at a small grey apartment block in her sight. It seemed abounded and damp, but that is where she had been arranged to meet her 'mysterious follower', as Leslie called her. A woman had been phoning Leslie for the pass week, managing to get hold of her despite Leslie stealing and using a different phone every day. This woman was persistant and knew everything about Ms Willis, from birth to the current date. Being her usual self, Leslie was of course suspicious and accepted the woman's request to meet up. Leslie had an 'offer' in store for her, one that she couldn't refuse.
Running quickly over to the large, black door of the damp apartment block, Leslie ran her hand through her soaked hair, before turning towards the buzzer. Pulling out a wet and scrunched up piece of paper from her coat pockets, she looked carefully at the inked number. Moving her middle finger over to the buzzer, her sharp, dark blue nails pressed down on the button which read 'No.5'.
BUZZZ. CLICK.
The sound of Leslie's sharp electric blue stilettoes echoed through out the cold, damp staircase. She seemed to be alone, sliding her hand up the banister as she jolted up the stair case, up to the third floor. She soon faced the dark green door, that had the silver number '5' carved into the upper half of the door. Leslie looked over, down to the lock. It was broken. Gently pushing the door open, Leslie found a dark room, with a silver table placed in the middle of it. There, lay scattered peices of paper, and behind the table stood a long glass window, that over looked most of Metropolis.
"Well, long time no see,"

Checkmate has not, but Cadmus has.
Also, regarding the Kristen Bell thing - we all cast our characters and use their pictures in the IC thread as fun, but no one really "owns" that actor/actress' image for a specific RPG. In theory, everyone could use, say, Christian Bale as their choice for a male character - there's no rule against it. I think the reason people don't do it is to keep things less confusing. So, in other words, it's up to you. ;)

Hey, Bryd? Didn't MB establish that Phillip Wayne was Bruce's uncle? And that his father was Bruce Wayne Sr.?
No, Bruce's father was still Thomas Wayne. His grandfather was Bruce Wayne Sr. When Bruce inherited his fortune, he covered up his parents' murder to avoid suspicion of being Batman by making it seem Phillip Wayne was his father.
Byrd and I hashed it out over MSN. He's good.
