How about either David Boreanaz or Nathan Fillion? Maybe that might satisfy many fans who wanted one of them as Hal.

doug's name has been thrown out many times by posters here. I would be totally down with him. Though if i recall he is due to be possibly filming something during the time gl is due to start up. But Abin Sur's role could be very small and only need like a few days to do.

Does Doug have an epic voice for Abin Sur?

I've only seen him in F4:2 and he didn't do the Surfer's voice.

Yea with abin so many actors could fit the character well. Plus since his role will probably only end up being 2-5mins max makes you wonder do they want to go lesser known actor for cheap or go with a big name guy for atleast voice and throw a chunk a change at that actor.

But it's such an easy role to cast... the only requirement is an epic voice.

Webhead2006
07-20-2009, 11:59 PM
Yea so many people could be a good fit for the role. As i said we dont know how long of the role in the film will be. Would they want to just go with some random actor for cheap price, or would they want to get some known guy to do it and pay a large fee to him for such a small role.

Well even if doug was cast as abin couldnt rule out him doing multiple roles like he did in hellboy two, plus it would be a good way to save on casting more people if they want to keep all the main actors's budget at a fixed price.

imo i think someone else other than doug should get the role. i love doug and i think hes a great actor, but that would be typecasting if they got doug to do it, and im not a big fan of typecasting.

I like Lance Reddick for the role as well. Perfect voice, and an already extra-terrestrial look. It's a short role, sure, but one of the most important. And it'd be amazing to bring him back for flash-backs in future films. In the current comic book storyline, Abin Sur's role in the GLC mythos is being revealed as way more important than previously thought. With Geoff Johns' input I can see Sur flashbacks as a definite possibility.

well i just read the actor who played jango fett/clone troopers for the star wars prequels has been cast as abin sur. I did like his work in the prequels. So i cant wait to see what he does with abin sur. Though i wonder how much of a role it will be. Since we are probably only going to have like two maybe 3 scenes with abin. Unless there is some flashbacks scenes later in the film.

I despised his acting as Jango Fett. his voice over for Boba Fett in the Star Wars special edition was uninspired. let's hope that was only because he was working under George Lucas. at least if he really is a bad actor all around, his role in this film will be very brief.

like anyone else on the prequels, everyone was monotone. That's one of the main reasons why people love the original: the actors were good and had gravitas.

But yeah, Once Were Warriors is a New Zealand flick. I recommend it. it's a family drama.

and they were also willing to improvise. Harrison Ford definately. he apparently changed dialogue as he saw fit and slipped it under Lucas' nose. hehehehe. fun fact.

but yeah I agree that the actors in the PT were monotone. I commend Ewan MacGregor for giving a great performance. that was a miracle.

really? cause Mexicans pass as Persian quite easily (according to South Park lol)

Cliff Curtis (a Maori) has passed as a Latino (training day) and if i remember correctly someone of middle eastern descent (three kings).

Temuera Morrison on Abin Sur in Green Lantern (http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/101550-temuera-morrison-on-abin-sur-in-green-lantern)
by SuperHeroHype
May 24th, 2010

And how he may appear in a sequel

Latino Review (http://www.latinoreview.com/news/exclusive-temuera-morrison-talks-green-lantern-10050) caught up with Temuera Morrison (Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith) this weekend at Walt Disney World and asked the actor about playing Abin Sur in Green Lantern (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=38858).

He told the site that he has finished filming the character, who gives Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) the power ring. He then showed the site an image of the character which looked almost exactly like previously-leaked concept art.

"That took about 4-5 hours to put on, it was all prosthetic," Morrison said. "We did the whole scene together were I give him the ring, our suits are CGI so we had these grey suits with things on them so it was cool and working with Martin Campbellhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2_bing.gif (http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/101550-temuera-morrison-on-abin-sur-in-green-lantern#) again was great too."

He added that you can expect to see him in a possible sequel as well.

"They want me to come back in the sequel," he said. "They want to show you my backend story for the next movie. They want to show you how I become part of Green Lanternhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2_bing.gif (http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/101550-temuera-morrison-on-abin-sur-in-green-lantern#) Corps."
