Just had a form where I put in my name. I thought it would be a collective thing where more and more people had to sign up to launch the trailer, but to my surprise the countdown started as soon as i pushed submit.
Judging from that info, it could be the kind of game where there's an actual winner at the end. And then the SHH! admin would finally get something cool for his troubles. :funny:

A few things i noticed from the trailer

1) 3 of the 4 newspaper clippings used in the viral are noticeable on whiplashes wall. the one with the girl jumping is not there.

2) the numbers 6 and 9 are tattooed on whiplashes hand. so that is probably the year that the stark family did whatever it did to him

3) the blueprints have the word reactor on them so Vanko most likely helped Howard build it and then Howard took all the credit

4) the shot of the warmachine suit being made is being overseen by military personnel. Perhaps Rhodey steals the plans?

5) near the end he is clearly being chased and shot at by Rhodey

6) the "robots" they shoot at all have arc reactors on their chests

It looks like Rhodey steals the Mach I suit and updates it and Whiplash gives Hammer the arc reactor design and he builds it and then builds an army of robots. WM is not shooting at Iron Man but the robots. Watch it again, there is more than one.

Good eye.

Again, Good eye. On one of the pictures "1969" circled.

Possible.
4) the shot of the warmachine suit being made is being overseen by military personnel. Perhaps Rhodey steals the plans?
Doubtful- Rumor has it (my rumor at least), Rhodes talks to Hammer and Hammer talks to Black Widow. Who steals it.
5) near the end he is clearly being chased and shot at by Rhodey
Yeah, that is clear. But the reason remains unknown.
6) the "robots" they shoot at all have arc reactors on their chests

More likely after Stark went public he had to cooperate with the government a little and gave them the Mark II suit. Remember Mark I suit was built in the cave, which later got into Stane's hands which allowed him to reverse engineer it into the Iron Monger suit. Stane had the suit but not the ability to power it, because none of his engineers could shrink down the arc reactor technology.

Ironically we see that Whiplash is the opposite, the miniaturized arc but no suit. Pure power but no where to put it but those tentacles. Which is odd since Stane couldn't build a mini-arc but this prisoner could? Only other person who could do that was the "great Tony Stark"...hmm...

crimsonspider89
12-16-2009, 10:08 PM
I don't consider Stane's the Mach I. That was the prototype, his first test suit was Mach I and the one he fought in was the Mach II and his new one in the movie is the Mach III. Whiplash built it off of his father's blueprint using the same tools Tony used while he was in the cave but probably updates it later. Yeah, I think Black Widow will be the one who steals the suit and Whiplash gives the ark reactor technology to Hammer and the government who build a robotic army under the control of Hammer. Maybe Whiplash does it in exchange for his own suit.

Remember this movie poster? (http://screenrant.com/iron-man-movie-poster-contest-winners-vic-1414/).

And on Whiplash, if he hates Stark enough maybe Whiplash will just give the reactor to the one with the best chance of killing Stark? If vengeance is his goal money might not matter all that much, in terms of "selling" the tech.

I'm still laughing that the viral was such a colossal failure that one of the people behind the viral had to "solve" it in order for people the trailer.

Either latino review simply forgot to put their clue up when they were supposed to, or no one goes to that site to have seen it. I find it odd that right after the riddle was "solved" the last photo appeared all over the place. As if to say "hey guys, you missed a picture".

Explain why any of what I just said is wrong.

You cant prove that Im wrong at all. The person who solved the riddle is the same person who revealad a clue!!!!!! Or at least a part of the same source. And, if you can show me debate over the fourth picture BEFORE the website was already found, please prove me wrong.

Once that fourth picture was found, the website would have been immediately located...but it wasnt...because the website was found before the picture was circulated...even the Hype Administrator claimed to have no knowledge of the 4th picture before finding the site.

You actually think that this "viral" matters, don't you? Like it'll be the next Dark Knight viral? It won't be, they were just having fun before they released the trailer, gave us, the fans something to do while we waited for the trailer, SURE, it might have been a waste but had we known that going in, none of this would have happened and the trailer would have just "popped up" online. They made it fun for us while we waited. Sure the clues were pointless but what if they weren't, one of the pictures is still missing and we have NO idea what they were for. Maybe the viral isn't over, who knows? they wouldn't have made a Stark Enterprises website for nothing, now would they? Last I checked they made the website and nothing came out, picture or info wise for a while, that site will still have something. But, it's people like YOU that say "lawl, its died". Simply because "Why so serious" isn't splashed across the screen.

For the record, I had no idea that Latino Review was going to put up a fourth clue, nor was I aware that there was a website that would "launch" the trailer. Right after I saw the fourth clue at Latino Review, I put the four highlighted words together and tried different URL's. When I found the site it asked me to put in a four digit code, which is found on Latino Review's clue. I was pretty surprised that I got there first, to be honest, and I would have handed this to another fan gladly. I was not aware that my name would be posted at Apple. In the end, you all got to see the trailer as soon as possible, so it seems like a win for you guys.

Did you mention the fourth picture at latino Review when you initially claimed credit for unlocking the trailer?

If not, how long was it from the time you spotted the picture that no one else had seen until you informed us of the picture?

Im just trying to clear the air for others who may think that the thing was rigged since a partner in the viral solved it. Other sites are likely to cry fowl over this.

A "partner in the viral"? Paramount sent me an image and said it was a "clue," and ask me to post it, that's it. I'm not sure how that makes us a partner.

Paramount and Latino Review both tweeted that the fourth clue was up on their site. Are you accusing me of knowing what was on the fourth clue before it was posted? Because I didn't know.

By the time I had input the code on the site the clock had already started counting down and it made no sense to mention the fourth clue on SHH and instead alert fans straight to the countdown site and then trailer.

Well, with all due respect...Hype was a part of this viral. You were sent information that no one else had and asked to distribute it. That is a fair representation of what happened.

I'm not really accusing anything. I just think that everyone with an open mind would look at the situation...a viral campaign that few people were excited over was solved by one of the distributors of the clues, before most people even knew all of the clues were available...it appears kind of...iffy. It's unfortunate that no one else seems to have seen the final clue before you solved the puzzle...and for the record...the 1969 thing was on the final clue, and that is something that interests us all so we are glad to know about the picture even though the mystery was solved before any of us saw it. Its a new mystery about 1969.

Back to the subject:

1969 seems an odd year to be obsessed with. In fact, it kind of obliterates my theory of Captain America, Crimson Dynamo and father Stark in WW2. The Vietnam war was going on in 1969, which doesnt seem an appropriate timeframe for either Crimson Dynamo or captain America.

The Soviets were involved with a lot of space missions that year...not sure how that would play into anything...they may just invent some new history to draw on so looking back at 1969 would be useless.

Aesop Rocks

The Nobel Prize for Literature went to Sam Beckett, so maybe it's a clue for a Quantum Leap crossover.

I like.

In 1969, the Russians had the Soyuz 5 in space for some reason. That mission had the first spacewalk from one ship to another (Soyuz 4). Soyuz 5 also is known for having a really bad landing, its parachutes failing and all kinds of nonsense and the cosmonaut was injured in the hard landing.

This particular game is over, that's all. A viral is usually a series of games. They're not obligated to send over clues in our prize for the next game. :oldrazz:

And an ARG also has an underlying story component to it as well...but honestly, a trailer is just a trailer. Unless they're a SUPER OBVIOUS message in it. The A.I. ARG was launched because someone noticed a strange credit in the list at the end. The 2012 ARG was launched because the voiceover advised to Google "2012" and someone did. :funny: Stuff that sticks out like that.

One of my favorite ARGs was the doomsday scenerio that the London telegraph did (and I still think the guy should be fired). That guy had no real plan of how to run it, but just kept cming up with clever new clues to keep the game going as people solved puzzles. Again, the fact that the ARG was a warning from a respected newspaper that there was going to nuclear detonations all over the world, was wrong and I dont condone the concept behind it...but with no time to think this guy came up with a game that kept people awake all night solving clues.

This had highlighted words and a circled code. Pathetic.

Woot i've been waiting for a good viral since TDK and this could be it ^_^

While I doubt this is anything important, it's been bugging me.

What the hell does that say?

"Stark-...."???

Presumably the next piece of paper is covering another N. Stark-Regierungvertraggewinn would mean Stark Government agreement profit.

12-27-2009, 11:14 AM
Oh, and to add to that, it was probably not written by a German speaker. It should be RegierungSvertraggewinn.

So anybody think that we are going to get another viral game before the movie comes out?

Or do you guys think that we are going to be sitting on our butts until May?

kedrell

We'll probably get one leading up to the Superbowl spot and then another one leading up to the full trailer.

Aesop Rocks
12-29-2009, 03:39 PM
That....is the full traler.

kedrell
12-29-2009, 07:10 PM
No, that's the teaser. Teaser's always come out before the full trailer. Length is irrelevant.

Hopefully... I mean... There has to be a trailer with a little bit of plot details... I think that is what distinguishes a trailer from a teaser... In the teaser you get the imagery of plot, while in the trailer you get verbal plot

A teaser IS trailer, ie: "an extract from a film or programme used for advance advertising."*

So, can we safely say that there is no ARG for this?

Aesop Rocks
01-20-2010, 02:52 PM
Yeah, it's safe to say.

The thing they did was just a small little thing to give us fans to play with while they fixed up the trailer.

I dont know. I mean what we got was a little weak being an ARG.

I doubt that they would have created the ARG at SDCC 09 just for something this little.

I hope we get more.

It wasn't an ARG at all. :oldrazz: At least not yet.

Again, Star Trek had a small ARG (a real one) that lasted a month before release. IM2 might have something like that as well. Or it might have something akin to what Terminator Salvation had, which wasn't an ARG exactly either but had some viral marketing to it.

Yeah you are correct Anita. What we have right now, it's not an ARG.

Interesting how the plan layout of the convention looks like the triangular arc reactor schematic from that video.

It seems to be like the viral stuff that happened for Terminator Salvation and maybe Avatar. Some background info and maybe a little audience participation but no actual games.

I don't think there's any gaming with this. It's just fake sites that tie in with the movie. It's cool, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't give us fans much to do.
