It would have been better if they didn't keep switching from widescreen to IMAX every two seconds during the IMAX scenes.
That's a good point. I still love the IMAX footage, but Dark Knight's IMAX scenes were entirely IMAX for the most part. Some exceptions, like the IMAX Batman vs SWAT scenes being intercut with the 35mm ferry stuff, but two different locations was fine. Transformers had the devastator scene where all the devastator footage was imax and almost all the human footage in the same surroundings was 35mm.

Yea... eps during the forest fight, it suddenly cuts to another place and its non-imax, and then goes back to imax and the whole things just looks weird

I would definitely say Nolan used the camera better, both in cinematography and in the editing process.

The current price for X-2 is $13.86 at Walmart. Since Walmart's in stock blu-rays aren't very impressive, I would price match it at a local Best Buy if possible. Btw, which of your collection do you think has the most impressive video quality?

I honestly thought it looked about the same as the dvd. It might be something where it's supposed to look a little grainy but I i just wasn't impressed by it . I haven't watched the first MI in a while either , I'll probably check these out again today.

Well I think he is referring to THEATRICAL releases. :oldrazz: But yeah there is a lot worse to choose from. The Punisher (Dolph Lundgren version), Captain America, Howard The Duck (Yes its a Marvel movie), Fantastic Four (90's version), and Nick Fury: Agent of Shield.

There is a new edition being worked on but James Cameron being very busy with Avatar (who has to approve of the new transfer), various rights issues for special features, Lightstorm is working on a restoration of the film with Lowry Digital, and now problems with MGM (which has released very little recently) have delayed progress considerably.
Ah right, thanks, at least it is in the pipeline, its my favourite Terminator movie, not to mention being one of my favourite movies ever and its the only Terminator movie I dont have on BD :csad:.

"Open your eyes – and return – to Pandora." This is the slogan that has been used used on the new spot to specifically promote the upcoming Blu-ray release of James Cameron's Avatar, due out on April 22. "King Kong" is a Universal title right? For $15 after the coupon, I may not be able to pass that up.

I hope Back To The Future wins that poll.
Well the Back to the Future trilogy has practically already been confirmed by Universal. I am thinking all of these titles in the poll are coming soon this poll is more for which one gets announced and released first.

Why, that looks cool, but really weird. I hope they sell those separately, too
That's got to be one of the best movie cases ever but I wont but I always go for the simple packaging.
Looks like Minority Report got 5/5 on both video and audio on a review over at Blu-ray.com. Really glad I decided to pre-order it. :)
That's awesome , i've really been looking forward to this. Not a fan of the cover but the movie is too good to pass up.

Lots of great choices in that list, but I'm hoping for the Dude. Though I'd be fine with something like Psycho or Back to the Future

Why still hanging onto the HD DVD's that you have upgraded to Blu-ray, Ian? Granted you would be lucky to get a $1 a piece from them these days but I am sure you can find someone over at Highdefdigest that might do some crazy deal like 5 HD DVD's for 1 Blu-ray or something.

Haven't hard anything for the latter two on your list, but the extended cuts of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy will most likely hit Blu-ray whenever The Hobbit is either released theatrically or on Blu-ray itself.

Dances with Wolves (Final 236 minute cut)
There has been 2 different Blu-ray versions of this film released overseas.
The different between the discs. The German disc features the Extended Cut (4 hours) 7.1 DTS HD sound and a commentary with Costner, Wilson, and others. This version is not the Oscar winning film. It is Region B locked so you would have to have a player that can play Region B discs. You can actually read a review and see screenshots from this disc here...http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/DVDCompare2/danceswithwolves.htm
The UK version features the Oscar winning film (3 hours), Dolby TrueHD and no extras. But this version IS Region free and should work on all US players.

This is supposedly a teaser trailer for the Alien Anthology on Blu-ray but it remains to be seen if it is legit or fanmade. Interesting timing though considering Avatar is about to be on store shelves...maybe this is supposed to be a preview on that disc?

Same reason I've held on to my DVDs I've upgraded: I've just never really been the type of person to sell my things.
Heck, if anything, I might be able to get MORE from it a few years from now than if I were to try to sell them right now (for next to nothing).

I haven't watched it yet (the BD, that is). I think we'll be making a day of it this weekend. :) I'll let you know then!

That is a good deal but I didn't know about it. However they have a list of other movies you could do that with. I might buy it and add Sunshine or something.
The Showgirls cover looks really hot .really hot.
I prefer the other cover for gladiator though but i'm glad it's getting a re-release. It was tempting to purchase the other one.

City of God is only being released in Canada for now. In Bruges is finally getting a US release yes. I will probably be picking that one up. I haven't seen it yet but have mainly heard nothing but good things about it.

Nice. I am in the minority of not being a Star Wars fan (especially the prequels yuck) but I do recognize those being released on Blu-ray would be HUGE. It would definitely solidify Blu-ray into the mainstream and bring even more people over to the Blu-side and be very good for the format. Hope it is true just for the sake of giving the format an even bigger boost and increase the chances of more and more releases.
And by the way...
The Digital Bits, quoting industry sources, says that Lucasfilm "tentatively plans the official Blu-ray release to happen in October 2011." Obviously, with the Alien Anthology coming later this year, a 2010 release of Star Wars can be safely ruled out, and considering that A New Hope opened theatrically in May 1977, late 2010 would be a natural choice for a 35th Anniversary Edition Anthology.

I'd much rather have Star Wars over the Alien Anthology this year. They need to switch them out. Heck, I'd go for bare bone releases at this point. Come on Lucas! Milk it some more this year on Blu. :D

Hecks no. I would take the Alien franchise over Star Wars. I would even take the Indiana Jones set over Star Wars!

Yeah seems kind of odd that while they are pushing so hard to offer a whole new viewing experience they aren't even putting the best possible audio presentation along with it. It just seems like yet another strike against 3D. The studios sure are dropping the ball in a lot of areas IMO.

Avatar Blu-ray Sells 1.5m, Breaks First-Day Sales Record
According to Deadline Hollywood's Nikki Finke, quoting sources from 20th Century Fox, the Blu-ray edition of Avatar has sold 1.5 million units in the US and Canada during its first-day and has thus "blown away" the record for first-day Blu-ray sales, until now held by The Dark Knight, which had sold 600,000 units in December 9, 2008.
Note that neither Netflix nor Redbox are stocking Avatar yet, as both rental companies recently signed agreements with Fox to delay availability of titles from the studio for 28 days. Blockbuster, on the other hand, is.

Yeah, well, it's great visually but story wise...not so much. Like I've said before, it's Pocahontas with some interesting additions and great visuals. That's about it. I'm still debating on if I should buy this version or wait for the inevitable Special Edition version...decisions, decisions.

The bullcrap about how Fox left out the special features to maximize the presentation is just what I said...bullcrap. The next release will be identical to the current one right now so really when it comes down to it its just a matter of are you willing to wait 6-8 months for the special features disc along with the current one available.

The next release will be identical to the current one right now so really when it comes down to it its just a matter of are you willing to wait 6-8 months for the special features disc along with the current one available.
Well, I'm not sure about 3D at the moment. I don't mind it every now and then at the theaters but to watch a 3D movie more frequently at home with heavier glasses just doesn't sound like the most fun. I guess the determining factor would be how cheap a good quality 1080p 3D projector is and how bright it is since you lose about half the brightness when viewing a film in 3D. Not to mention, it would also have to have a 2D to 3D conversion to make it worth while.

Well they already released Bruce Almighty and it would have made the most sense to release it along with that but they chose not to. I would say the most likely reason is because it sold like crap on HD-DVD and they have already been having dismal Blu-ray catalog sales as it is but lately it looks like they have doing alot better. All I can say is keep buying the catalog titles Universal catalog titles and give them more incentive to release more and more titles.
And I am sure you can live without Evan Almighty...it isn't exactly ummmm good. Lol! :o :oldrazz:

Hey, I quite enjoyed Evan Almighty, it was a cute film with a positive message...nothing wrong with that. :oldrazz: Sometimes you need the good fluffy stuff every now and then.
Now, on the opposite end of the spectrum, I must say I cannot wait for Kick Ass to come out on Blu...that was one of the best films I've seen in a long time, absolutely perfect. :awesome:

And, I suspect that Avatar Blue-Ray sold so well because it was a two-fer. At Wal-Mart there was only a three dollar difference between the two versions, and yet the Blue-Ray box had both together. You'd be a fool to buy the regular version knowing that we're all going to be playing Blue-Ray down the road and here's one film you won't have to go and replace later. :)

Well that pricing and packaging strategy is nothing new Avatar was going to break that record regardless. Hell I am not even under the impression it is that great of a film but I am more than likely buy it down the road just because of how impressive looking the disc seems to be. Or if someone just wants to donate me their copy when the next version gets released later this year I won't complain. :oldrazz: :o

Just a quick question, but what is the best setting to have on my Sony BDP S550 blu-ray player when it comes to picture settings, auto or 1080p?
I only ask because the picture seems better in auto but the 24p cinema only seems to work when I set it to 1080p. At the same time I thought auto would automatically set it at 1080p for blu-rays anyway, confusing but I would appreciate any help given.

When it comes to player specific settings I suggest you head over to Blu-ray.com and look for answer and advice there you will find more people with that certain model. I went ahead and found a thread for that player see if you can find the answer there if not just ask.

As of May 10, the DVD of Citizen Kane will be pulled from shelves; in July 12, Ben-Hur will follow. Classic King Kong Coming to Blu-ray in 2010
During the TCM Classic Film Festival, held recently in Los Angeles, renowned film critic Leonard Maltin introduced a new digital restoration of the 1933 classic King Kong, which was shown at Grauman's Chinese Theater. Maltin later revealed in his blog that this restoration will "yield a Blu-ray home video release later this year."
Maltin also commented that the film looked "magnificent" on the "huge" theater screen. "Best of all," he added, "it didn't have the look of a spruced-up video: it was as if we were watching a pristine 35mm print. And it was preceded by Max Steiner's original overture."
Back to the Future Trilogy Coming Soon on Blu-ray
The monthly Blu-ray magazine of Australian home cinema retailer JB Hi-Fi features an ad for several titles on the format, all of them already available except for one: the Back to the Future Trilogy. No specific street date or release details are provided, other that it is "Coming Soon."
It is worth mentioning that this year is the 25th anniversary of the first Back to the Future movie.
Twilight Zone Season One Coming Soon on Blu-ray

Now, The Twilight Zone: Season One has gone up for preorder, with a list price of $99.99. Pretty much what I expected. I give James Cameron huge props for all of the effects he really did create a whole world and made me believe it was real but it would have been nice to see a little more effort put into the storyline. Pretty strong performances from all of the actors too.

Soon from Criterion on Blu-ray: Anderson, Cronenberg, Kurosawa, Malick, Von Trier
Usually, titles from The Criterion Collection are first officially announced and then come up for preorder. But this time, the opposite has happened and five major titles are apparently coming soon from the studio: Antichrist (Lars Von Trier, 2009); The Darjeeling Limited (Wes Anderson, 2007); The Seven Samurai (Akira Kurosawa, 1954); The Thin Red Line (Terrence Malick, 1998); and Videodrome (David Cronenberg, 1982).

As an environmentally friendly company, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group will recycle all DVDs mailed for upgrade. The discs will be processed and used for future plastic packaging.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced Alfred Hitchcock's horror classic Psycho for release on Blu-ray on October 19, in a "meticulously restored" 50th Anniversary Edition, with a new 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack (the original mono audio track will be included as well). It will be presented in a single-sided BD50. Psycho will also be honored during its landmark anniversary by the upcoming 2010 Cannes Film Festival.
Special features include:
* Feature-length audio commentary with Stephen Rebello (Author of Alfred Hitchcock and the making of Psycho)

* In the Master's Shadow – Hitchcock's Legacy: Some of Hollywood's top filmmakers discuss Hitchcock's influence and why his movies continue to thrill audiences.

* Theatrical Trailer: Watch the original promotional trailer from the film's theatrical campaign.
* Re-Release Trailers: Watch the promotional trailer created for the re-release of the film.
The sound remastering process was started by Universal's in-house post production sound facility started the re-mastering process with the film's previously preserved and restored soundtrack to create a new 5.1 mix. BluWave then contracted Audionamix, a Paris-based audio technology company, to split the original mono music source into quasi-orchestral tracks. Audionamix, a leader in soundtrack separation, then applied their breakthrough proprietary technology enabling BluWave to create a discrete 5.1 split music mix. BluWave's creative talent gathered the original sound effects from the Studios' extensive effects library and, using these source materials, created a 5.1 up-mix to bring Psycho's soundtrack up to the expectations of contemporary audiences while maintaining the original integrity of the filmmaker's vision.
The mono audio track will also be available for viewers who want to experience the film in its original form.

Avatar Sells 6.2 Million Copies on Blu-ray Worldwide
According to Deadline Hollywood's Nikki Finke, Avatar has sold 6.2 million copies on Blu-ray in its first three weeks on shelves, "more than double the industry standard for the high-definition format." James Cameron's epic is now the top-selling Blu-ray release of all time worldwide, and it has "no sign of slowing down."
Saving Private Ryan Blu-ray Audio Issue Confirmed (Update)
When Saving Private Ryan came out on Blu-ray, some enthusiasts claimed that they noticed an audio issue with the movie and that, starting at chapter 15, the sound went out of sync with the picture. Now Paramount Home Entertainment has unofficially confirmed to The Digital Bits that "there IS a sound sync issue on current copies." The studio is reportedly working on fixed discs for retail, and is expected to announce a replacement plan soon.
This issue also affects releases of this title in other territories - actually, the first whistle-blowers were from the UK, as the film was released on Blu-ray a week earlier there.
In the meantime, Amazon.com has temporarily pulled the disc from sale (but its European branches haven't).
Site reviewer Martin Liebman had reported this issue as early as May 2 in his review of the Blu-ray, in the following words: "If there's a misstep in the track, there appears to be a slight lip synch issue before the battle of Ramelle, found around the 2:06 mark in the film as a character shares a story about one of his brothers' girlfriends and their encounter in a barn. The effect was blatantly obvious when viewing the film with a combination of a Panasonic DMP-BDT300 Blu-ray player and Denon AVR-3808 audio receiver connected via HDMI (with the audio stream sent through a separate HDMI cable from the video stream), but seemed to be less of an issue when the Denon was paired with a PlayStation 3, also connected via HDMI."
Death Note Double Feature Blu-ray Announced
Warner Home Video has announced Death Note Collection for release on Blu-ray on August 24. This double feature consists of Death Note and Death Note: The Last Name, the two Japanese live-action films made in 2006 based on the manga series of the same title. It will comprise three discs (two BDs and one DVD with two hours of all-new behind-the-scenes footage and trailers).
The Player Announced on Blu-ray
Warner Home Video has announced the New Line title The Player for release on Blu-ray on September 7. In this acclaimed, cameo-filled 1992 thriller/satire, starring Tim Robbins, the late Robert Altman takes a tongue-in-cheek look at Hollywood and studio executives.
Special features include:
* Commentary by director Robert Altman and writer Michael Tolkin
* Additional scenes
* Featurette: One-on-One with Robert Altman
* Theatrical trailer

Wal-Mart Expands Blu-ray, Brings Back Low-priced Player
Wal-Mart has announced that it will allocate up to 50% more floor space for Blu-ray Disc players and movies in more than 1,200 stores across the US, as part of a planned expansion of its in-store home entertainment and technology departments. The retailer is also offering two low-price Blu-ray players: the Magnavox MB500MG1F (BonusView) for $78, and the Philips BDP3020 (BD-Live) for $97.
Blu-ray players under $100?? I'm guessing they're some pretty cheapo brands that won't really be worth getting unless you can't quite afford the quality ones.

I'm surprised that the Se7en digibook doesn't have the composition notebook look to it, seems like an obvious choice given their role in the movie and the nature of the packaging
I'm definitely rebuying Se7en on Blu-Ray. Hell, I want to rebuy just about all of Fincher's films, especially Zodiac.

Do it. Not only is David Fincher one of my favorite directors ever but I would have to say every one of his films on Blu-ray are A+ in quality. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Fight Club, Zodiac...all must own discs and I hope the same will be said about Se7en.
If Christopher Nolan leaves the Batman franchise and WB wants to continue it I would definitely love to see David Fincher take a crack at a Batman film.

That would be a great choice. I was FYE and they are selling canadian blu rays. I could of got Seven, Dusk Til Dawn , and Sin City (special features not included) at 15.00 each but wasn't sure if they would work or not. Thought it was the oddest thing also..

Canada is Region A just like USA so anything from Canada will play in a USA player. The company that releases Blu-ray's in Canada they are called Alliance and a lot of the time there is at least one catch with each release. For example...the Se7en Blu-ray is the wrong aspect ratio, 1080i not 1080p, no menu and zero special features.
But the upside is that there is A TON of Blu-ray releases available in Canada that aren't available here in the states. Here is the list and the issues they have if any.

The Breakfast Club Announced on Blu-ray
Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced The Breakfast Club for release on Blu-ray on August 3. When it was released 25 years ago, this movie, written and directed by John Hughes, quickly became the definitive teen film of the 1980s and remains as moving and poignant today as it was 25 years ago.
Special features include:
* Feature commentary with Judd Nelson and Anthony Michael Hall
* Sincerely Yours: a 12-part documentary with Judd Nelson, Anthony Michael Hall, Ally Sheedy and other cast members as they reflect on the making of The Breakfast Club. Revisit these unforgettable characters and hear filmmakers such as Amy Heckerling and Diablo Cody discuss the cultural resonance of the film.
* The most convenient definitions – The origins of the Brat Pack: cast members, journalists and film historians discuss the "Brat Pack" label and its impact on pop culture and the group's careers.
* Theatrical trailer
* My scenes
* BD-Live

And they do Blu rays now? Wow...

Yeah it's an Asylum movie and it's just a terrible movie. Especially when Lorenzo Lamas and Debbie Gibson are your main characters.
I am now convinced imdaly just buys blu-rays to have a large collection.

I have a VERY random taste. Same goes with music. It's hard to pin down what I like in simple terms.
What movies do I have that are "questionable"? Either it's a great drama, a great comedy, great action, a good horror movie to watch with a girl to get them to curl up to you, or a movie that's sooooo bad it's good!
And, no, I absolutely take no offense. :)

If anyone has a membership at Costco or Sam's Club, they are both selling the Pirates movies for $12.88 as well as Sin City for the same price. No Country For Old Men was only $10.88 so I took bought that and Sin City.

I think that's YMMV, since from what I read, there are still some Sam's Club's offering these at their usual high prices.
Warner Expands DVD2Blu Program, Now Starting at $4.95 To upgrade, consumers must go to the DVD2Blu.com site, select the titles they want to upgrade, and mail in their standard DVDs with pre-paid postage. A short time later receive copies of the same film on Blu-ray Disc.
So far i've picked 11 movies to upgrade. I just have to pay for postage to ship my DVD copies to them, they cover the shipping for the Blu-Rays coming back to me right?
On the site it says not to send in the cases. Did some of you just put the discs in by themselves or did you use one of those disc slips to protect them from getting scratches?

The only thing you have to pay is the price for the upgrade. Put just the movie disc in a padded envelope, tape the print out they sent you to the envelope, but don't cover the bar code or place where the post office will put the shipping charge and put it in a mailbox for shipping. When WB receives the movies they will send you an email and then you can expect your movies 4 to 6 weeks after. I did this when they had the redtoblu promotion a few months back. I sent 14 of my dvds to get upgraded this time.

Is it $4.95 per disc that you choose to upgrade? From what I've read they are just recycling the discs anyways so it doesn't matter if they have scratches on them.

Yeah, it's a great disc; I have the standalone Digipack release. Apparently there was some criticism towards the color palette tweaking they apparently did, but it looks fine to me. And the sound is top notch
Of course, I'm not high def guru by any means, but it's definitely one of the higher end transfers I've seen.

Well be careful when it comes to that new Predator release. I mean if you love and want the extras for Predator then by all means go for it. But it still remains to be seen if the actual film will look any better than what we already have so I will be waiting for reviews before I decide to upgrade.

I read a few reviews and there were a few complaints from noobs below the review but I think they're full of it. The three reviews I read were all very positive. It sounds pretty damn good what they did with the colors. A slight green tint for scenes inside the Matrix and I think it was a slight blue tint for the real world scenes.

Yeah, i'll also wait but the fact that it says they're working on a new transfer it should be a safe bet it will be an improvement over the last version...hopefully.

Well the thing is it is heavily debated whether Predator can even look significantly better than the Blu-ray that is already on the market. The film didn't have a huge budget it was shot for like around $20 million I believe and there are people that say Predator can only look so good. And just because it is getting a new transfer doesn't mean much if it means they DNR it to death just to give it a more polished and "new" look but at the same time removing the fine details. We will see when the reviews and comparisons come out.

What's DNR mean?
Digital Noise Reduction. You remember the whole Gladiator issue? That was because of DNR. I guess the best way to put it is that it is kind of like airbrushing and it can lessen the detail on a Blu-ray in exchange for giving it a more smooth and polished look it is evident on a good amount of blu-ray's. But I am not one of those people that finds it as distracting as they make it out to be but there are a lot of people that spot it immediately.

Yep yep I am sure the re-releases will be tied into the upcoming reboot so I would guess early 2012. But even waiting that long you are just waiting for extras. If your stuck with the PS3 Spidey 3 version I would suggest just passing it off to a friend and just buying the trilogy set.

Im a completionest so I want the best versions. Im glad I waited for he rerelease of X3 as opposed to buying the original. Also werent there issues with the PQ of at least the first Spidey film, being one of the earlier BR releases. I have both films on DVD so Im in no rush, but I wish they would have released them individually in BR already

Well I think X3 was in the same situation. When it was re-released it was pretty much identical to the last release other than it got a ton of extras included but hey if extras are that big a deal for you then yeah your gonna have to hold out for quite a bit longer.
And have the Spider-Man trilogy and I noticed no real problems with the picture or audio on any of the discs...all 3 look and sound fantastic. The only odd thing is that the first Spidey was shot in 1.85:1 and the other 2 Spidey's were shot in 2.40:1 which means those have the black bars look going for them. I wish Raimi would have just stuck with one aspect ratio but that is a minor gripe from me. But overall I would highly recommend the discs for any Blu-rayer unless your an extras whore.
And sadly Sony knows they have a license to print money with the Spider-Man franchise so they are in no rush to re-release them so soon on Blu-ray. They have the ability to wait it out until the reboot because no matter when they decide to re-release they know it will sell like hotcakes so why not try to maximize the profits.

Is there any reason why the HD video wasnt done right the first time round?
Not only this movie, but others too... seems like a cheat if I had to buy the Blu ray again because of a job not done properly
One word: Competition.
HD DVD was on the US market a while before Blu-ray was even available. So Sony was kind of forced to get Blu-ray onto the market earlier than they would have liked just because if they hadn't HD DVD would have had the store shelves all to themselves for months and Blu-ray would have arrived to the party late.

Buy Panasonic Blu-ray Player, Get 3 Free Movies
Amazon is having a bundle promotion linked to the Panasonic DMP-BD65. If you order this player, you can get three BD movies free from a list of eligible titles plus $5 credit towards Amazon On Demand. The discount will be applied at checkout. This offer is valid through 11:59 p.m. Pacific time, June 21, 2010, or while supplies last.
Note also that you can also benefit from the Panasonic/Fox promotion that offers a $25 rebate with the purchase of the Avatar Blu-ray and a Panasonic player (see Blu-ray.com, April 23). So at current prices, you can get the BD65 and four movies (one of them Avatar) for only $131.99.
The BD65 supports BonusView and BD-Live, as well as Amazon Video on Demand, YouTube, Google's Picasa Web Album, Bloomberg, Weather Channel, Netflix, Pandora, Twitter and Fox Sports. It has wireless LAN capability (via wireless LAN adaptor sold separately), and high-definition audio decoders.
Note that you must select a player sold by Amazon.com, not by other merchants on the Amazon.com Web site.

So when the early Blus came out, the "1080p" label was a lie?
Because now movies get re-released into 1080p again and they are better. So whats with the first 1080p?

No it wasn't a lie. 1080p is 1080p. But factors can go into how good a Blu-ray disc looks. A lot of the early discs were put onto a 25GB disc while most releases these days will get a 50GB disc so more space equals more room to improve the quality. A lot of the earlier discs also used the MPEG2 codec which is considered very inferior to a codec like AVC or VC1 which is used on most Blu-ray's these days. Also it just comes straight down to the time, money, and effort the studio put into these transfers. Like I said Blu-ray was rushed onto the market so maybe with a lot of those earlier releases studios were kind of forced to rush out some releases instead of putting their full effort into the quality of the disc.
