The DLC is just the release of the Cosmic Spider-Man suits for those who didn't get them from Gamestop. They are now available in Xbox Live, and next week, they'll be available for 2.99 at PlayStation Network.

No one knows about further DLC.

There is a rumor being thrown around at the moment that Beenox is starting work on the Spider-Man reboot game. If this is true, wow. Activision would appear to be giving them ample amount of time to work on this game.

I hope it turns out to be false. I mean, it's great if they're already working on a new Spider-Man game but hopefully it won't be a movie tie-in.

I finished and got the platinum for this game a few days ago. Great game and a much welcome change. My favorite dimension was the Noir bc it did offer something different. Loved the artistic style as well.

I thought 2099 had the best graphics but the levels looked a bit bland and repetitive. They werent visually as diverse and appealing as the others. I loved playing as him though

You can beat up on Deadpool fanboys! LOL...that gave me a laugh especially as you do it DP says something about "who's going to purchase my merchandise?"

Too bad though that there is no replay value. Once you beat it, theres not a whole lot to do other than mop up collectibles and challenges which shouldnt take long.

It happens a lot with Spider-Man games. They're insanely fun the first time through, but then they drop significantly with the replay value. If you're a hardcore nerd like me then you enjoy playing through with the costumes and seeing how each of those looks in their levels. Iron Spider looks great in the 2099 universe.

Movie tie-ins aren't bad, per se. It's just that they're started ontop of the movie's schedule making them have no time at all to come up with something decent.

Might I remind you of Spider-man 2 movie game? Best movie tie-in superhero game EVER. It defined the next gen of Spider-man games.

If they start it this early, there's good time to pull out a somewhat decent project.

EDIT: Well... Now that I think of it... Almost. They have 1 year and a half. It's a bit too tight...

I don't hate movie tie-ins and as you say Spider-Man 2 is a great game. What I meant (which I should have statedin the first post) is that I want a Spider-Man game set in the comicworld. Much like Shattered Dimensions is.

I disagree. I think the Wolverine movie tie-in that came out last year is the best one of them all. It's what the movie should have been.

That's only because they worked on a Wolverine game way before they got the offer to make a Movie tie-in. So they already had a good amount of work done.

well that kinda adds to the point that was discussed in that it had enough time to be properly developed whereas most follow very strict schedules which in the end tends to deliver a subpar product

Man, looking at the Red Dead Redemption thread makes me wish this game had better DLC. The style for this could have easily added bonus levels or at least some Boss Rush/What if?/Arena modes. I know it sold only slightly better than the last game, but still.

Activision's Business Model:

Make around 2 great games to start out a franchise...then put out yearly installments that in no way (or just barely) improve over the last game until people no longer give a flying crap about it. Squeeze the money out of it until people get wise to their game (pun intended).

It really is sad that Spider-Man is in any way affiliated with that ass clown Robert A. Kotick.

Haha, Tony Hawk, Guitar Hero, CoD, Spider-man...the list goes on. Lucky for them even though the CoD games are minimal improvements, people still buy them. I wonder what they will do if one flat out tanked.

Well I'd argue that 2 already have: Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero. Tony Hawk just became super uninteresting and then they tried to bring it back with motion controls, which completely bombed.

It'll be interesting to see how they try to revive GH. I'll just sit back with my popcorn.

Their CEO only seems to care about their bottom line and how they look to their investors. I've never known a game company to tout how much money they are making compared to actually touting the quality and integrity of their products and much as Activision has as of late.

Havok83
11-05-2010, 10:49 AM
I meant if CoD tanked. Tony Hawk did a long time ago. CoD is their biggest console franchise and where they make their most money. I wonder how they would handle things if they releaed one that just didnt sell. With all the yearly releases, momentum for the series hasnt quite slowed down and it hasnt reached its saturation point yet, but you'd have to imagine that it would someday especially with the rumors/talk of CoD being spun off into different genres

Spider-X
11-05-2010, 11:00 AM
Ah, yeah that would be interesting. It's sad that they can rely on one quality product and let all the others just fade into mediocrity or udder crap.

I'm optimistic enough that they will eventually get their acts together...how long it will take, however, is another matter. If EA can turn their ship around, so can Activision.

Spider-man's agility would look amazing in 3D. Dodging bullets and web swinging could be really cool if done correctly. The feel of his superhuman speed and acrobatic movement would stand out in 3D.

technically if they wanted it implement 3D, it doesnt have to be a 3DS exclusive. They could do that right now on the 360 and PS3

Even though I actually really enjoyed SD, it still could have been much better. More time to fix glitches, more freedom for the writer, a fourth act...etc.

I'll probably rent the next Spidey game they cough up. There's no way I'll buy any more games for a while, and if anything, I'll reserve it for Arkham City.

That reminds me, I have $24 in credit at a local gaming store here. Thanks for reminding me about B:AC so I can save it for that. XD

On the topic of Spider-Man, yes we'll see another one. This is pretty much guaranteed.

The VIP survey they had asked what six characters you would like to see in a Spider-Man game along with X-Men related stuff (the survey itself was centered on future X-Men games, but there was a bit about Spidey).

I picked Doc Ock (the male one), Morlun, Green Goblin (Osborn), and Lady Octopus (I liked her rendition in SM:SD and think she could be kind of interesting to see again).

The rest I picked were for X-Men.

Top Four Powers I'd like to use in a future X-Men title:
Pyrokinesis
Reality Warping
Magnekinesis (Magneto's ability)
Telepathy

X-Men I'd like to see or play as in a future title (Pre-Chosen)
Jean Grey
Angel
Shadowcat
Polaris
Emma Frost

Add four more mutants to the previous list that weren't already there
Franklin Richards
Quentin Quire (Kid Omega)
Squirrel Girl
Mister Sinister (can't believe he wasn't on the previous list...)

I, for one, prefer Spidey games as sandbox, only this one is served better by not being a sandbox, it works better for selecting levels and playing in different worlds. When they released news about this before the first trailer, there were rumors of Spider-Man dimension hopping, I imagined it would be sort of a sandbox where you need to find portals sort of like in Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks, but you swing to the air hung portals

I still haven't played this one, it feels more fitting for PC than it is for PS3, it still hasn't got ported, and after my recent experience with Prototype (very slow) and my very very recent experience with X-Men Origins: Wolverine today (much slower than Prototype, event with the very low resolution and increased brightness), I think Activision suck at porting games to PC

I dont see anything wrong with it bc the Noir levels are among the best in the game. They really should consider making an entire game arond it

As far as Ultimate goes, it was almost indistinguishable from 616. They didnt borrow heavy from that comic line in this game. Aside from Electro's appearance, all of Ultimate's could have easily been the Amazing and there wasnt much difference between the 2 Spider-men. I hoep your disfance for the Ultimate line didnt cloud your view on those levels as labeling it Ultimate didnt take away from it in this game

Okay, so I actually just bought this game a couple of days ago. (Been waiting for a price-drop.) I got to say it has exceeded my expectations so far, I knew it would be decent or good because I've been following it since it was announced. Now having just finished act 2 I felt it was time to gather some thoughts about it.

Basically I want to praise the same things as everyone else, the voice-acting, its ****ing awesome. And the boss fights, really fun and kinda inventive. Some of the levels have been excellent to, Deadpool, Electro and Sandman's levels are the best so far. The worst one was Scorpion but the kinda fun boss fight at the end made up for it. All in all it haven't been one level that struck me as plain bad. Although the 2099 levels have been the least fun, but that has more to do with the futuristic design (while undeniably cool) not really doing anything for me.

The camera isn't the greatest but it's never been totally in the way, except for when wall-crawling. Still when crawling is mandatory (2d segment in Vulture level, short segment in Deadpool's level) it works well. The animations for it are good to.

Well there you have it, my three months late 2/3s through impressions. If anyone was interested that is.

The Noir dimension was awesome even though the night vision Spider-sense was a direct rip-off of Batman's detective vision from Batman : Arkham Asylum . I have been playing this on hard mode the last few days and it's just great!

I honestly think it's my favourite since Spidey on the Playstation.

Although I do love the free roam games, this one is a nice middle ground. Don't get me wrong, it isn't Arkham, that's for sure, but it is the most complete and well-rounded Spidey game, I've played, in a long time, and most of the levels are just awesome fun. The repetition isn't as noticeable either when I'm playing it this time, probably because I'm not playing the whole thing in one go and just playing a level or two here and there.

By the way, does anyone know if the cosmic costumes were released as a download on PSN in the UK? I can't seem to find them...

So I've been replaying some of the levels on hard to get the figurines, revisiting the ones I thought were the best. The controls could use some tightening up, not having played the game in a while it takes some getting used to again.

A fun surprise for me when I first played the game was how fun the Ultimate levels were, I expected them to be buttonmasher levels but they were, along with the amazing, my favorites of the game. Also Josh Keaton really proves that he is (in my opinion) the best voice for Spider-Man, being able to talk at a pace way faster then the other VA's. Also he does kinda sound like Rino Romano whom I previously held as the best voice for Spider-Man.

I just recently watched a few episodes of Spider-Man on MTV with NPH voicing it...he is so awful on that show, but his voice is so much better in Shattered Dimensions.
It sounds really fake and low on the show.
