So I've been messing around with different ways to create suit patterns. I'm only just learning this new software... but here's a look.

That's cool. Is that like 3DS max or Maya or something?

So you plan to make it like a real body form\muscles and then flatten it somehow to get the pattern?

Yep.. I'm going to try modelling a full character then breaking it down into parts for the costume.

What program did you use for the 3-D model? It looks like the end result is pretty nice looking, even if it is a fairly complicated program.

And I like that new twist on an old suit. Comic style frames on a movie style mask makes me wonder exactly what I should think :-)

spidey4fun

That suit was pretty much drawn up in photoshop, with a few other programs to design the layout for the webbing and spiders. Im fairly sure I can do better with more advanced 3D software.

This to me looks like a scam, I'll hold my breathe but I see no original pictures there.

The next thing which I find odd is that the maker claims to be using the cheapest of materials for a costume at that price.

Crushed velvet is what the ametures use for their batman begins capes again along with liquid latex for the amour.

The original TDK costume armour was made of a special grade of Urethane and the cape with flocked.

Geeze... to think 84 that you've been pointing the fingure at me so often but you can't spot something as bait as this. (shaking my head)

Hey Brad did you change the pattern on your suit for some reason it looks alittle different than the one you made me awhile ago...the color looks better and the pattern looks alittle different. I was going to ask you if you are also using your new printer for your black suits as well. For some reason the pattern does look alittle different but better.

spidey4fun
08-20-2009, 07:32 AM
My printer did recently change inks but I dont think that one was printed with the new inks. In fact Im pretty sure that one was a second and it's been corrected by Crimson. .... I think.. I cant be certain. When there's a new baby in the house you seem to get forgetful...lol... that's my excuse anyways. :) He made it himself from my parts.

Brad,
I guess when I saw this print of this new software you were using from Photoshop..I kinda thought you were using a new pattern for your black suits..It looks nice though really nice and it would fit well for the black suit...Crimson Spider's black suit looks exactly identical to this pattern you were looking at on your software using this kind of pattern..It looks really nice. ;)

P:S Congrats on your new born baby Brad.

and Congrats on your soon to be and first born baby Crimson Spider. ;)

thanks for the kinds words on the pose and the boy!

As for this print, Brad is remembering correct. This print was a second for the reason of it being heated too long @ the printer and coming out too light (he told me it was about 80% of the color it was supposed to have). What you are seen that gives it such a distinct impression is I actually took the time to fabric paint (Tulip brand Slick Black) over the honeycomb pattern. That took simply FOREVER!!!!! I'm very happy with the results though. It adds a little bit more dimension, and also kinda looks alive.

All the parts shown here are from Brad, although I did insert something between the eye mesh and the frames to give it more of that "lense" look

Ok I see..So you painted the frabric on the honeycomb pattern sections which are indeed the sections where I did notice the most impressive results. The pattern looks nice, the fabric looks nice, and the color stands out even in sunlight. I like it because it really does look like the real thing or the actual pattern that was used on the movie suit... Ive seen other spidey suits made by other suitmakers but most of them you have to be in a dark area in order for the colors to blend in well and look nice..or even the Honeycomb patterns dont go well with the suit and are not that noticeable.

But this is one suit that looks really really nice in sunlight or would look nice even night time. I also like how the Honeycomb pattern stands out and looks nice in sunlight. I guess it does pay off when you really put hard work and effort into a spidey suit to make it look even better especially if it was a second piece and you end up with better results than what it looked like before. Nice job Crimson Spider ;)

Did anyone ever figure out how they did that honeycomb texture on the SM3 symbyote suit? Was that just silk screening?

Hey guys..I know this isnt an Iron Man Thread but I usually look at one of those threads sometimes here on the Superhero Hype Boards to see what other Replica costumes aside of the Spiderman, Batman or Dark Knight they actually make..here is something very interesting I found on how a Iron Man Armor Suit is actually made..The cool thing about it is that it is actually made with fiber glass and other Sylicone sculpted methods similar materials that are used to make a Batman Replica suit...Ive seen a finished one with a finished rich coated paint of hot rod red and Yellow..Ive displayed a photo of a finished Iron Man suit armor..I think it looks really cool.. just something that I found really cool and interesting thats all.

NEW 2009 SCULPT OF THE
TMP IRONMAN
Wearable Armor or Lifesize Display.

The hard work on the new generation 3 armor sculpt of TMP Ironman is comming to an end. Due to alloe of PM and contact regarding availibilty of this armor we decided to offer a Limited amount of number to a special price.

But first here are the photos of the new sculpt.

Really Nice ;)

http://www.mydisguises.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/_fanmande_armor_2.jpg
ARMOR DETAILS:

The armor will be mainly constructed from Solid glassfiber work with rich details all over. The armor will come finished painted either in the original mark 3 colours or custom paint colors wanted.

The difference with this suit vs previouse is that this was not focused on a wide sizerange specter. This was sculpted to look like the original and size whould follow the sculpt not the other way arround. This ressults in the suit will fitt a smaller group of people. Estimate size can be up to 6.4 tall but you got to have a slim / ateletic build. Ideal size is arround 6 feet and arround 30-34 Waist size.

GOOD NEWS FOR SHORTER PEOPLE.

Regardless of ideal size, Shorter people will look better in this version vs. the older generation 1 and 2 armor. For people size arround 5.8-5-10 can still wear it, BUT NOTE it will of course not look the same as a person 6.2 tall. But if the wearer uses high sole boots + heel sole inserts inside the boot then you can be raised up to 5-6 inches at max. Then you gain the extra length on the legs. Another thing is that the chest is is about 1/3 less bigg vs the gen 2 armor. Also the midsection legs and helmet is more streamlined and not so bulcky and buffed up as the previouse versions.

Cool IM suit. It'd be really cool if someone with that suit and a Spider-Man suit made a good fan film together. Idk, I'm an independent film maker so it seems like a fun idea to me.

The Symbyote suit looks like they took a wire frame made of rubber and glued it to the material. And it also has this shimmer to it, almost like it's coated with something. Fan suits look good, but no one seems to be able to find out what else they did.

I have these Nike shoes that have a black rubber honeycomb pattern on them that looks similar to the movie suit. Whatever they did might work for the spandex.

Are you serious? Thats stupid.. Now that looks awful for Marvel..and your right..why did it have to be before the filming of Spiderman 4 and all these other good Marvel movies hitting theathers in 2010, 2011, and 2012 like The Avengers, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, Iron Man 2, Spiderman 4 5& and 6..Man thats going to look stupid for Marvel...it's like that rumor that came out a while back that DisneyLand was going to buy out Six Flags Magic Mountian: California because they were filing bankruptcy..This is not good :csad:

That's Awful..I cannot imagine Spiderman walking around a Disney Park or even having the Disney Pictures theme displayed on one of the newer Marvel Movies that yet to come out.. like Spiderman 4. That just doesn't go well. It's like mixing Warner Bros with Disney and having Batman or even the Joker who is a destructive terrorist walking around a Disney Park or instead of having the WB them title out in a Batman Movie and instead it would say Disney Pictures production...Leave Spiderman at Universal Studios where he belongs and Leave Batman at Gothem City at Six Flags where he belongs :(..Ok guys im sorry I will get back to the Spidey Suits and suit Creation Methods Now.

They won't have the Disney theme. It's owned by the company, doesn't mean they'll make it into a kids cartoon. It would be a horrible public relations mistake to do that and honestly, Disney isn't stupid. It's odd and awkward to think Marvel is going to be owned by Disney, but if anything it'll only make it better.

Besides, Universal is kind of a boring park compared to Disney World. Now we can see Indiana Jones, Star Wars and Spider-Man all in one place, like a giant movie theater coming to life.

The most fun thing at Universal I remember was the Terminator 2 3D. Other stuff was fun too, but in my opinion it just can't compete with Disney MGM park.

It'd be really great if they made a live action Spider-Man show (not a musical) - a stunt show like Indiana, using the movie quality suits and having lots of top-notch gymnastics and martial arts, showing the kind of work that goes into bringing Spider-Man to life on screen and stage...when they're not too busy making him CGI.

I know if I got to see that as a kid or even now I'd certainly be excited. It's a great opportunity.

Looking at the SM films I think they missed the ball on the action a lot of times. They over use the CG so much and use that "we'll do it in post, let's pretend we have to" excuse.

For example, there's tons of gymnasts and martial artists that can do "impossible" moves that would look very Spider-Man-esque, like Tony Jaa.

Having someone that can do a double flip or run up walls and ect. would blow people away. Videos like that on youtube always get people talking.

Nice Brad..your suits are starting to look identical to Ollie's. the colors are starting to look richer..your molds look the best ive seen out there..aside of Ollies. SpideyPlanet or schuckes suits look good but the molds dont look that great..I think the onl problem with these molds is that the color of the molds are a bright silver when they need to be a dark Mettalic gunmeteal color...but then again it does look ok when its finally finished from different view points. :whatever:

Oh cool... will you be posting close-ups of your work... I asked for some on the old perfect spidey board and you said to PM you... so I did... and I waited and waited for those close-ups but never came. :(

Brad I believe you gave me the advice to post a close up of the webs to HELP aid in the selling of my costume on eBay... And I did.

If I didn't respond directly back to you about anything, it's because I didn't like the way how you accused me in the beginning and then switched acting like we should be friends and then switched again, I also saw you edit your posts while no one was looking but then again, I don't want to get into a "flounder" about these things, life is just too short... your just here for fun anyway and not to make money right? ;)

Wow those webs look pretty spot on. I like the bright paint because it creates a great contrast in light, but the movie suit did a great job of reflecting the light bright sometimes and then dark other times.

I'm hoping to start sewing up my old Spidey4Fun suit from like 2006, but learning the serger is hard. Did Brad change the pattern in the last 3 years or is it still the same except for the new webs?

They won't have the Disney theme. It's owned by the company, doesn't mean they'll make it into a kids cartoon. It would be a horrible public relations mistake to do that and honestly, Disney isn't stupid. It's odd and awkward to think Marvel is going to be owned by Disney, but if anything it'll only make it better.

Besides, Universal is kind of a boring park compared to Disney World. Now we can see Indiana Jones, Star Wars and Spider-Man all in one place, like a giant movie theater coming to life.

Just to show you guys of how ignorant I think this title looks now...Disney bought Marvel Entertainment INC.Co for $4 Billion Dollars in cash and bond (If you guys were wondering how much Marvel was worth... I think you just found out) This just doesnt fit the right picture guys...Read this quick article I found stating this:

Article:
"Under the deal Disney will now control and own 5,000 Marvel characters, including Iron Man (http://screenrant.com/tag/iron-man/) and Spider-Man (http://www.screenrant.com/tag/spider-man-4). If Marvel shareholders approve the deal, they will receive $30 per share and will also receive .745 Disney shares for each Marvel share they own. Both the Disney and Marvel board of directors have approved the deal, but it still has to go through an anti-trust review. I don’t see there being any problem with the anti-trust review nor do I see the marvel shareholders turning up their noses to such a fantastic offer. Most likely, later this week, we should see final word on the resolution of this agreement.
Said Ike Perlmutter, Marvel’s Chief Executive Officer:

http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/0d3848dd46fb9627b1fcf573b7f476b1.jpg
“Disney is the perfect home for Marvel`s fantastic library of characters given
its proven ability to expand content creation and licensing businesses…This is an unparalleled
opportunity for Marvel to build upon its vibrant brand and character properties
by accessing Disney`s tremendous global organization and infrastructure around
the world.”
"So what does this mean to comic books fans? Well, it could be both very good and very bad at the same time. Let’s look at some quick pros and cons shall we?
Pro - Disney is a universal name with pockets so deep that God’s hand would have a hard time reaching the bottom. Marvel is no slouch either in the household name department - but let’s face it, they are no Disney. All that extra money, means way more marketing and increased traffic within the theme parks (sorry Universal but looks like you might lose the X-Men (http://screenrant.com/tag/x-men/) characters in your parades.)"

I've had the same webbing molds for a little while now. When I cast up the webbing I use different percentage tints. This gives the webbing different colours. I could cast up black webbing and paint the top silver but I try to avoid that as the paint will eventually peel off leaving very obvious black spots.

I made this mask a little while back and painted the webbing surface silver as it was only going to be used for display.

Thats nice Brad that you can actually change the color of tint on your molds..I like the fact that your molds can be done in different percentages of tint...Some people like the silver color which in my oppinion looks ok..but others like me like the Dark Metal Grey color..I just think it looks really nice that way..one quick question though...what do you do to give it different types to tint though? I think both the suit colors and the mold colors nice in this photo.

I know that when I cast my webs if I used less black than normal I'd get a dark gray color. Other than that, if I added in silver powder it'd be a dark metal-gray, but that reduced elasticity.

I think you showed us some photos of One of your Spidey4Fun suits made with a different type of Urethane webbing for a guy in Japan requesting the Symbiote Spiders on his Red/Blue suit awhile back..I have to admit that your Molds look alot better than other molds that people use out there for there own suits...I think it has to do with the style, size, and color..I think a Dark Mettalic Grey Color looks really nice on a Black Symbiote Suit or a Red/Blue suit like the photos you showed us of both Urethane Suits you made (Well 1 you made and the other your making)..I think it looks way better than silver because when you look at it in a shade perspective the colors blend in alot better.

P:S : Show us some more photos when the suit is finally finished and have the Urethane Spiders attached.

Hey man, this is actually not the right place to post about a discussion concerning Disney's acquisition of Marvel. This thread was made only for sharing methods and ideas concerning the creation of Spider-Man costumes. I'm sure you could find a thread about Marvel and Disney over in the Comic Books > Marvel section.

But this suit is also really cool to look at too and alot cheaper too.

They say they take alot of time too make these also. hours, days, months...:( anyways guys there are plently of photos of the suit on this one then there were on the other ones I showed you guys.

Ok Yeah..Let me know how the molds come out.. because I was told that Spidey4Funs Molds were for taller people than 5"9. Otherwise if you tried to place molds that were meant for taller people on a suit for someone the height of 5'7 then the molds would get crumpled up and wouldnt look right..Also too show us some photos of you in the suit when your finally done with it..would like to see how good the suit looks on someone shorter like me. just to get an idea before I order mine in a couple months.. LOL Yeah that would be nice. Maybe Brad the size fit for one of your suits with the molds is maybe between 5'7-6'1 Im not sure though, Masked Rider looks alittle shorter than me.. So im using him as Bate (LOL HeHeHeHe J/K Maked Rider) :woot: to make sure that your Urethane Webbing suits Brad will maybe fit on someone shorter than 6'0 between the heights of 5'7-5'9. I found these neat soles at KMart yesterday. They are made to slip over shoes. They come in small, medium, large and extra large They would
be very easy to integrate into a spiderman suit.

Brad with your expierance in gluing Urethane Webbing on your suits..can you rate the gluing difficulty from 1-10... 10 being the Hardest 1 being the Easiest..When I see you say PAINFULLY Time Consuming..LOL Im thinking that it must be very Hard or difficult..do you need to have alot of Patience because gluing every thing piece by piece seems to me that could take hours days or even months... then the urethane could fall out of place if it doesn't glue well then you got glue getting all over the suit that must really suck..:csad:

This suit could have been sewn a little tighter if I'd had the wearer measurements, BUT I could not alter the length of the webbing or size of the suit across the shoulders. To be safe I'd say my webbing would fit 5"10' to 6"2'.. on someone smaller it would bunch up.

Looks like glue blotches on the eye lenses.

How does one avoid this? I've been experimenting with making my own mask completely by hand, but I can't seem to finish a set of lenses without having the same thing happen to me. No matter how carefully I apply it, or how little I use, the glue always ends up where I don't want it.

-.-

spidey4fun
10-18-2009, 11:30 PM
I'd say apply less. The less you apply the less glue there is to spread. OR.. use a thicker glue such as Urethane based glue. These glues are thicker, but take longer to cure... OR.. simply dont apply the plastic lense cover. It's not functional anyway.

These pics are awesome! I think I saw Masked Rider's completed suit up on ebay?

Anyways, I was wondering if any of you had a costume with the mask separate?

I'm sure it doesn't look as clean as a costume with the mask attached, but I would love to see how big of a difference it would make regarding the overall appearance.

Also, what would keep the mask and body of the costume aligned once the mask is on? Would you use some sort of hook mechanism? or maybe velcro?

Has anyone here ever made a 5 piece suit before like in the Movie? LOL Just curious to see if any one has ever been able to make one like that before where you have the detachable Mask, detachable boots, detachable pants or tights, then you have the chest piece by itself..LOL that would be cool to see something like that one of these days..but then you would have at least 3 zippers on your suit instead of 1 because you would need 2 for the boots to hold the tights in place with the boots.. which would kinda suck.

Maybe something like this?

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j7/Spidey4fun/Samples/DSC03956.jpg

Only issue with 1 zipper is if it breaks, you've a lot more to unpick before replacing it. Replacing or sewing it in place is actually quite quick.

Yeah like that..exactly like this one...so here you would have a zipper for the entire torso (the back and front)..then you would have these straps hanging out of both ends of the lycra where the wrists meet so you could place those straps inside the palms of you hands to hold and strech the lycra in place with the hands and then the gloves would go on afterwords (A perfect example would be like in Spiderman 3 where Spiderman takes off his boot after battleing the Sandman on top of a building and you see a strap hanging down under his foot to strech and hold the lycra in place)

Have you made one like that before Brad? Are they easy to put on compare to the other 2 methods you normally use.. how many zippers would you use for one like that with like a 5 piece suit im thinking maybe at least 5. (1 for the Torso) (1 for the left boot 1 for the right) (2 for the gloves).

On a 5 piece suit you really wouldnt need a zipper at all. Just stirups and clips to hold it all together.

Not the movie suit, but something like this? :yay:

Now thats what it looks like..here you have a 7 piece suit..Nice..but what do you use to hold it all together? The first photo looks Nice..You cant even tell that the suit has broken or shows open areas. A Nice new method to create a Spidey Suit other than the other 2 ways that people always use which is the 2 piece and the 1 piece...But here we have a 7 piece..Really Nice.

wow. That does look pretty seamless. I mean, if you look real close, you can see the mismatch of lines and material bunching around the neckline but, for me, that's something I could overlook just to have the ability to take the mask off.

for the web shooters I ground off the tips of CO2 cartridges then filled the ends with JB weld, poxyed them on to a pair of tin cuffs bent to fit my wrists, sanded the ends, then painted them. The ankle pouches I made in my friends garage, lucky for me he has some leather working tools and a special sewing machine, the pouches are 5" by 3". next sew a hoodie and loc-tite the spiders on and presto changeo. No muscle suit required thats all me and a !@$%load of chicken and rice LOL.:woot:

On another project.... I thought I'd try printing onto solid colour fabrics. Red and Royal. Should work well for the Urethane webbing suit... only more sewing required.

Fabric samples on the left and my normal dye-sub on the right. The royal is a pretty close match... so it should work nicely.

:) The Suit looks nice but Brad You dont think the colors are alittle off here..The red looks kind of Orange the Blue looks like it doesn't have that much blue in it it looks alittle off like (a second hand print which is a perfect example of what im talking about) also too... Are you planing to keep and use this print for future suit orders or will buyers have a choice as to what print they would like on there suit?

spidey4fun
11-18-2009, 02:52 AM
Im happy with the colours. It's very hard to get a nice red with dye-sub. I think my other red had just a little too much maroon to it. I might darken the blue highlights a little but thats about it.

Here's some pics of the Sony suit under different lighting conditions.

Yeah I guess you are right..Hey Brad are you planning to use these colors for future orders? This new diamond pattern looks nice as apose to the Movie suit where you dont really see the diamond pattern on any portions of the suit except maybe the tights. The only thing that doesnt fit well in this suit you created is the diamond pattern on the back Spider..I guess its because its something different something we are not used to seeing.. Just like in the Superhero Movies where Costume Designers always alternate and do changes on the Superhero costumes to make them look better and people just have to get use to it the first time because its different..Thats what they done with the Batman Movie Costumes, The New Iron Man Armor costume, The Spiderman Movie Costumes, the Superman Movie Costume (You get the point). They are always doing Alternations on them in every single movie I dont see and Understand why.. but then again Its always good to try Something different every once in a while to see what better ideas you can come up next..Who knows maybe one day one of your Spidey Suits will be choosen as the top movie costume for Spiderman (LOL..J/K)..How do you come up with all these cool ideas anyway?

spidey4fun
11-19-2009, 02:38 AM
