S/He's baaaaack!

How has everything been? Any new scandals I should know about? Did ya miss me?

Ok. Lemme tell ya where I've been. But before that let me tell ya a little story. About two years ago I was in a car with three of my friends. We were just leaving this pond called Gee Lake in Commerce, TX. and we had been smoking a little pot. We got in our car and were heading home when a campus cop pulled us over. He poked his head in the car and said he smelled weed. Everyone was about to freak out. The tension was palpable. I knew that two of my friends each had a bag of weed on them. I also knew that the other friend was trying to get her degree so that she could be in politics. Well I fessed up and took the blame for all of us. After I confessed and gave the guy my quarter bag of weed, he didn't search or arrest the others. I went to jail and spent 11 days in the hole because I didn't have any cash.

Big deal. Time passes and I really don't care about my record. Maybe one day when this country wakes up it might even be a badge of honor. Anywho. As far as I was concerned it was over.

Flash forward to right before I stopped posting. I was pulled over for an expired inspection sticker. No big deal. The cop then told me I had a warrant for my arrest and that I owed a county here in Texas a little over 2 Grand.

WTF?

Apparantly the 11 days I spent in jail wasn't enough punishment. Well I'm not a rich man so I spent a little over 2 months in jail.

Well I got out a while back and during all that... no surprise... I lost my job, my home, and my girlfriend. I've been struggling to get back on my feet and I finally landed a decent job in San Marcos. I'm back on the internet and I suppose I'm doing alright. But I've been knocked back a bit.

It was frightening at times. It was illuminating at times. But all and all I learned an important lesson.

Our criminal justice system is only punitive if you're poor. Rich people don't get punished. They get inconvenienced.

I'd like to apologize to all the guys in the Contest of Marvels. I didn't want to abandon you but ****... what can you do? When I did get out and I had a few chances at friends houses to get on the net, I felt so bad that I couldn't let you guys know what happened. I know it was a cowardly move but sometimes fear and guilt can control your actions. I'm so sorry I couldn't continue the game and fulfill my obligations to you.

So sorry.

Anywho... here I am and I can't wait to read all the comments you guys have made over the last few months. I missed Transformers talk and everything.

So....

What's been going on?

Mad props, my Gf is an Attorney here in Texas, we're in San Antonio. I basically did the same **** for a friend ,we were coming back from port A, douche was doing 90 through Atticosa county... D.A. Thank God my lady got me off, as the cop continued to question me after I asked for counsel.

Did they put you on probation? If you can't pay a lot for a lawyer My GF loves sticking it to this F-ed up system so drop me a pm.

Damn. I'd imagine TX is one of the worst states to get busted for pot.

We'd really solve a lot of our prison overcrowding problems by decriminalizing drugs.

I'm sorry to hear about all that's befallen you. What you did was admirable in a bros and hos before freedom sort of way. Regardless, I hope you collected your fines or some sort of reimbursement from your friends since you, you know, essentially saved their asses.

So, you spent 11 days in jail because you couldn't pay the fines/release costs the first and second times? Were they going to let you off the hook if you'd given them 2 grand at some point, or did that number just keep going up when you left jail the first time?

Did no one, at some point, tell you that you owed more than your 11 days in jail?

I can't agree that rich people don't get punished. Fines are a form of punishment. Is it more an inconvenience because they're rich? Well, yes, but it sort of is what it is. Rich people are inconvenienced more often than not when it comes to smaller crimes, but across the board? Eh, it depends on the situation.

I kind of doubt it. More and more, it seems to be all about $$$. The government and even more private prison systems want/needs the steady income from certain crimes. If you decriminalized drugs, I suspect they'd need something else to criminalize or crack down on that netted them more fines, etc.

I'm still paying 75$ a month due to some Latin phrase I can't remember. But I should be good.

My buds have compensated me with "buds". :D

After my initial 11 days apparantly I still owed court fees or some **** and since I moved alot after that I never received any notices.

As for the rich. I just don't think them paying the price of a night out (for them) is equal to me staying in jail for 2 months.

But you're right. Situations are different.

I've lost some stuff over a dirty drop, believe not as severe as yours but on the silver lining side, a reset gives you clarity and a fresh look.

My question is what is the county like?
Here in Indianpolis you sleep on metal cots and get a bologna sandwich and a bag of chips to sustain you for a short trip.

I can't imagine what the poke is like in TX.

As far as the decriminalization of pot, I'm all for it. Just what ever you do don't put your name on those "Obama is going to legalize weed" lists, as I have inside info that suggests that they are amassing info and building a database of sorts.

I'm actually one of those who do look down on smoking weed or anything else that'll have effects on your mind. Crime is a crime, you should do the time.

That said though, I still consider you a friend and I've missed you, bud. We tried to wait around for you in the Contest of Marvels but had to distribute your characters out with no hard feelings. If we have a season 4 I'd love to see you back. We'll see though as we've lost several people and have put the contest on hold until September when people free up a bit more.

Aint nuthin wrong with having a good time. Dont care what drug it is but I try to stay away from all hard drugs ie Crank.cocaine, ecstasy, heroin But a couple xanaxs or getting drunk and having a good time I see nothing wrong with. Like I used to not be able to take xanaxs cuz once I started I couldnt stop but now I can control it and just eat maybe anywhere from 2-5 mgs in a day when I have eaten 90mgs in a day before. Mainthings maintain man dont let a chemical rule your life or effect your mood or behavior in a negative way then I say your straight. Aint nothing wrong with getting a little ****ed up every now n then.

But all I gotta do is 13 days and like $800 in court costs n fines. I got so damn lucky yall dont even know! **** the CommonWealth!!

Ace of Knaves
08-09-2009, 05:40 PM
Ahhh **** that. I wouldn't pay them a penny, I'd rather do more jail time than weigh out my hard earned cash for something as pathetic as that.

You really do have some stupid ****ing laws out there.

So what did you have? A bong and some skins or something?

Eklypze
08-09-2009, 06:36 PM
First time. I had a bong and a lil lockbox full of pipes grinders empty baggies. I like my pot and I like to smoke a variety of ways damnit. It was hilarious though cuz they showed up at my door right after I got done taking some good bonghits and they came lookin for a friend of my sisters who has never even been to my house right. Well they proceed to lay down my full bong inside my lockbox and my first instinct was like "Oh **** dude your getting bongwater all over my stuff!" but then I realized it wasnt my stuff anymore and I started laughing at em cuz they were gonna hafta lug around this lockbox full of paraphanelia soaked in bongwater.

Second time I wasnt even home and it was Mothers Day and my room mates psychotic baby mama tries to break into my crib while Im not there and my neighbors called the cops, My room mate said they found stems in the ash tray and started looking around and they found a little bag of weed and like 2 pipes under one of my fitted caps sitting on top a book shelf. I gotta phone call and they told me if I got home right then they would just write me a citation instead of arresting me but if I dodged em theyd issue a warrant. I was like "Ill be there in 15 minutes." ****ing ******** dude I am literally a victim of circumstance funny thing is I looked at the county attorney and told him "Man I thought they got everything in the lockbox! I didnt even know that stuff was under the hat cuz I thought they got it last time! You can go look in evidence that **** is covered in dust!" Hahaha best improv ********ting Ive ever done and it helped me alot

We have the Reagan administration to thank for the War on Drugs.

We also have the media to thank for continuing the narrative about how drug use supports terrorism and drug cartels.

Sometimes, I wish this country would do its research before it votes. But, since 18% of Americans still believe the sun revolves around the earth, I doubt that will ever happen.

The sad thing is, even if states start to legalize or decriminalize marijuana, the federal government can still charge people with committing a federal crime. So California and Massachusetts can have its weed and smoke it, but they still aren't out of the woods as far as criminal prosecution goes.

Meanwhile, child molesters and attempted murderers have received straight probation for their crimes. This is America, where fortune and privilege gets you a slap on the wrist and personal decisions about your own body, your minority status, and poor finances land you in the slammer.

Great to see you are back and doing better, Franklin. I have friends who are on both sides of the fence. Some believe drugs are evil, and others who partake in them occassionally...and, usually just MJ. (One of my oldest friends is the guy who's the top spokesman for the legalization of pot; he even recently got a free ticket and plane/hotel fair to go to the Playboy Mansion. He's also the guy who is in charge of HempFest in Seattle this weekend.)

Personally, I've smoked pot in the past. I don't do it now, simply because I have children. I don't think I should be on drugs when I am caring for them...and, it's rare that I'm not taking care of them...or am at work.

I think pot should be legalized. There are much worse things out there that are more dangerous for your health...and, the health of others. (Booze and cigarettes) I think it could only help the economy; and, it would help get rid of a large part of the criminal community if it was regulated.
