View Full Version : Do you think Thor should get a muscle suit?

The actor Chris Hemsorth is about six feet three inches. So height is no concern. I do however think that he is a bit skinny to play Thor. I don't want anything to rediculous like Juggernaut in X-men 3. Somthing more along the lines of Venom in Spider-man 3. Just an inch or two of added muscle at the most. Feel free to diss me all you like. I have no shame.

Have you seen the latest photos of him? He's pretty bulky at the moment. I always prefer natural muscle to movie magic muscle anyway.
Oh and I won't diss you. Sorry to dissapoint ;)

I second that, post a picture please .. also is his hair any longer?!
Tho I'd have thought this site might have had some up anyway, they did of Hugh before shooting if my mind is correct!
It's all about quality; if it looks right, I'd prefer him to be slightly beyond a natural physique. But if it's going to look dodgy or odd, don't do it. Happily the actor is already reasonably big. But 'huge' he is definitely not. Well built, defined etc yes. Huge, no.

I wouldn't say Thor is "beyond a natural physique" he is really well toned, not like a body builder big .. like Hugh Jack big.
What I mean is, in the live action Avengers, Thor would be the one 'human' character I'd prefer to be pushed closer to his comic book physique (which IS body-builder'ish). Just to highlight (physically) that he's not actually human...
But like I said, if the quality's not there, then I'd rather leave it.

If they do use a muscle suit which I guess they won't lets hope its better than Juggernauts in X3 :woot:

He's pumped up good, he has always been pretty big mind you.

If he keeps bulking up, he'll look great!
No. He's already pretty big. This is a shot from 'A Perfect Getaway'

Now imagine what he'll look like by January if he's training and working out even harder?

He needs to be pretty big, he is meant to be a god so he needs to be impressive.

He needs more definition/tone. He'll probably bulk up a slight bit more, and that's all he really needs.

Wow some people really need impressing on here?!
Love to see how much muscle and bulk you'd all put on in 6-9months.
The guy looks fine, what are you wanting HHH size or something so he can barely move and looks stiff all the time!

Hugh Jackman got RIPPED for his role as Wolverine.

Chris Hemsworth is in spectacular shape. We still have about a year before filming. Also, camaras can make him look even bigger.

Well yeah but if they're going for the 'realistic' approach in the Marvel U, Hemsworth is fine how he is or maybe a little bit bigger.

I think 'Thor' needs to have a good balance between fantasy and realism. Most of the movie is probably going to be about Thor living in Asgard. That is going to be pure fantasy, but sooner or later he has to come to Earth. How are people going to buy into a Greek god coming to earth to begin with? How is he going to interact with people and how are people going to react to him? If the creators focus on answering these questions, we are in for a great movie.

Doesn't he take the form of a regular human?

Oh yeah you're right, lol. So the question is, are they going to have two actors?
Aesop Rocks

That's what I'm guessing. Maybe Hemsworth is his 'earth' form.
Chewy

I highly doubt they're giving him an "earth" form. Hemsworth is playing Thor, not "Guy who Thor transforms into"

You mean Donald Blake? I don't see how they're going to work that off?

It's already been said by Kenneth Branjkhgal isn't going to put Donald Blake in the Thor movie. So, there's no gimpy alter-ego. I never said I wanted Thor huge, I just would like to see an extra inch on his frame. You can be cut and still skinny as hell. Look at Doug Jones.

I don't see what you guys have a problem with here.
Chris is bulking up well and looks great, if you wanted someone like Arnold or HHH then Thor would not be as agile as he looks in the comic.
He still has a good 6month's before shooting starts in pretty sure he will look impressive.
I think some people on here have expectations far too high on what someone can do muscle-wise in the time given.

:wow: Dude! I'm impressed! I think he looks the part. And like everyone else is saying he still got 6 months to get even more in shape. I'm not really a Thor fan (mainly because I never read any of the comics) but I am getting more & more pump for this movie as time goes by

Imagine Chris Hemsworth in the picture above with long blond hair holding Mjolnir. He is Thor!

In terms of hair I think it should only go down to the base of his neck or so, otherwise it may look too girly. Not like a mullet though. Maybe even shorter, halfway down his neck.

THOR, at least the version I read, is about the powers he has and his heroism without them, not about how big he is. I think he'll look great.

I have to see pics of Hemsworth post-workout to really decide, but even if he winds up being "small," I'm against a muscle suit.
Thor, more than any other superhero, should have the ability to be strong without necessarily looking strong. He's a god, you know, and god's are supposed to be able to do stuff like that, right? And Thor was probably only drawn so darn big because 90% of comic book men are drawn too big to begin with, and in order to make him stand out and appear more godly among the already freakishly muscular, he had to be drawn especially large.
I just don't want them to make Thor look like a pale hulk with blond hair and armor.
