I've been reading up about Glamor and Illusion, a mutant couple who choose to conceal their mutant powers and "pass" as ordinary humans (just as fair enough people of colour chose to "pass" as white during the days of Jim Crow segregation in the US Deep South or gay men/lesbian women got married and had children). A few years ago, some militant gay groups threatened to "out" their closeted brothers and sisters(including several well known celebrities such as Jodie Foster-who "came out of the closet" last year anyway). Has nobody ever threatened to do this for mutants( the late Captain America once asked Professor Xavier why he deliberately concealed the fact that he was a mutant from the general public)?

This was sort of brought up in the 90s circa OZT, when Cecilia Reyes was introduced. She was a doctor with a career and was a bit ashamed of her mutant status. She kept it a secret and when mutants were shown on tv and blasted by some of her coworkers, she kept quiet bc she didnt want anyone to know about her. Then of course she was attacked by a prime sentinel and Iceman save her. When alone, she attacked him for "outting her" She revealed that she was approached years earlier by Xavier to join the school but that she declined bc she didnt want anyone to know. After OZT was over, she tried to resume her regular life at the hospital, but there was still prejudice against mutants and some people viewed her differently. I beleive she ended up being fired and stayed with the X-men until she was able to start up her own clinic

Well given how little are left and given the registration act. Many mutants have either flocked to Utopia or are licensed heroes.
