That's right Hype believers, the phenomenon is back again! Only this time, it'll be under my wing. The 15 minutes threads were a huge success for a time, but sadly, they all seemed to fade away like Badger did :(. But I'm here, and you're here, so we're bringing this back :awesome:

Everyone wants their own 15 minutes of fame right? Well what better place than on this forum. For those who aren't familiar with it, here's the low down:
The idea is simple, every week a thread will be devoted solely to one person and the rest of us can ask them questions. Questions like, what's your favorite movie? Or, what is your proudest moment? Anything is fair game, as long as it is clean and adheres to the rules of SHH.


So if you've ever wanted to ask Drak about the motorcycle accident that made him a one legged pirate, or the first time Spoons saw a dumbell, or wanted to know how many Star Wars action figures Erz has, this is perfect for you!

If interested please sign-up below. There is no deadline for this, it will go on as long as there is interest.

This will kick off on Sunday Oct 4, 2009, and will continue with the next one starting Wednesday Oct 7. The threads will be started on Sundays and Wednesdays.

Oh, and in case its not fully understandable in the first post, this 15 minutes will be slightly different than the first one.

Each hype member will get an entire week rather than 4 days. I feel this would help that person 'shine more' and they won't get a crappy deal if they fall on a weekend and no one is around or something like that.

However, I am toying with the idea of running two semi-simultaneously at a time. The first one (which would become odd number) would start on a Sunday, and the next person (and even numbers subsequently) would start on Wednesdays.
When Sunday comes back around, the next odd numbered person (3rd on list) will be up and on Wednesday, person number 4 will start.

Does that sound reasonable? I want every person to get a good chance to get a lot of participation in their thread, while having this move along too.

Since I'm #1 on the list, when is this thing gonna get started?

ideally, i want to kick this off Wednesday, Sep 30 or Sun Oct 4th. That should give me time to get things squared away and try to come up with a default questionaire to put in every thread's initial post. if you got any suggestions, post em! I dont wanna make all the questions myself.

also, to those who have signed up, and those who have not, could you please post whether you had a 15 minute thread or not last time? Im tinkering with the idea of moving some of those (the ones who mentioned it) up a lil on the list so that they can get their chance sooner than someone else who got to go already. i'm not talking about moving every single person who didn't get their thread immediately to the front, but considerably higher than they are if possible.

for instance, gilpesh got his desired 26th spot and now Manic is holding down the 2nd spot. i really like the balance of the first 10 or so spots so i don't want to alter them anymore. there's a great balance of mod, noob, vet, and in betweeners that i think can help keep this current and interesting and help get its feet off the ground and hopefully remain popular and garner a lot of community participation.

it goes without saying that i'd love to see Bella take another stab at this in the future. GWG is becoming one of my new favorite posters, what about Kel? The mod everyone knows, but knows so little about. If Wiseman was still around, i would've hoped he would sign up. There's gotta be more to Star than the booze and cornbread, don't you wanna know her favorite drink?Anubis is a funny cat, or what about Johnny Drama? Where the heck is he? Eggyman? The quality of the answers always decided the quality of the thread from what I remember. Provide boring, one worded answers as if you were answering some random online survey which nobody cares about and you will receive more boring, one worded questions that sound like they came from some random online survey. Then eventually your 15 minutes thread will dwindle away to obscurity... and you should then be prohibited from posting anything further due to everybody's lack of interest in anything you have to say from then on. Then change your name to Mr Meh/Blah-nick. Circle of life.

i dont think anyone noticed, but i did move people up higher on the list that said they missed their go last round. that's why i asked people to say if they had one before but hardly anyone responded.

i stopped moving people up because well, the thread's been up a while and it really isn't fair to those who signed up early on to keep moving them down now. especially since there are many in the beginning who are new users period and have never gone.

I'm hoping this doesn't fall to the wayside, as the beginning group has a good amount of variety. there are mods, vets, noobs, popular posters, unknowns, etc.

Tips to Make Your 15 Minutes Last more than a page

1. Don't rush your answers.
Just because you have ten posts of questions doesn't mean you have to answer them all at once. Pace yourself, you've got a whole week to do it, and leaving a post or two unanswered gives you a good chance to bump it during a slow spell.

2. No one word answers!
Your 15 minutes of fame will only be as good as you allow it to be. If you answer questions with brief, vague or even one words answers, no one is going to care to ask you anything else. Give good answers and those answers might stem into more questions :up:

3. Don't get banned.
Sure there are some topics of discussion that are super juicy, but sadly can probably get you banned for going too far. Know the limits and stay out of trouble :up:

4. Get your friends involved.
If you're new, or not a popular as Poster B, or maybe you haven't been part of the community long, that doesn't mean you can't have a quality 15 minutes. If you're a solid poster in forum a, have some of your forum buddies come over and ask you some stuff. that helps them get to know you better, and might turn them on to the community section. If a thread looks like its succesful then chances are people will be more interested in checking it out.
